Market Garden #3

If It Flies

Rate this book
If it flies, drives, or fornicates, it’s cheaper to rent it.

Spencer is in a rut. Long hours at the law firm are sucking the life out of him, and he doesn’t have time or energy for a relationship. He’s lonely, horny, and itching for something new, so he tries the Market Garden, an exclusive—and expensive—brothel. Spencer isn’t in the door five minutes before a cocky rentboy makes his move.

Nick isn’t just any rentboy, though. He’s a Dom, he’s a sadist, and he’s everything Spencer didn’t know he was missing. One night turns into more, and before long, Spencer is one of Nick’s regular clients.

Both men think they’re just scratching each other’s backs: Spencer’s exploring a submissive, masochistic side he never knew he had, and Nick is getting off and getting paid. But as time goes on, it’s clear their strictly professional arrangement . . . isn’t, and if Nick has one hard limit, it’s that he doesn’t get romantically entangled with his johns. The problem is, while Nick doesn't want to be owned, Spencer’s no longer content with just renting.

L.A. Witt and her husband have been exiled from Spain and sent to live in Maine because rhymes are fun. She now divides her time between writing, assuring people she is aware that Maine is cold, wondering where to put her next tattoo, and trying to reason with a surly Maine coon. If it flies, drives, or fornicates, it’s always cheaper to rent it. 😉

So we are introduced to a new couple and a completely different story line. We got some glimpses of Nick the sadistic Dom from book 1 and 2 and he definitely intrigued me. So I was happy to read his story. And I think the amalgamation of Spencer and him is definitely a good one. 💜 A few reasons why this really ticked my boxes, interracial coupling, yum! 😋 younger, smaller Dom and an older, bigger Sub with an impressive profession, Popping Sub cherry, lol 😁, Spencer had no idea he was into submission and bonus point, a paint slut! 😋🔥 This is one of the examples of BDSM done right. 👏 Erotic, titillating and scorching hot while being realistic and raw. 💙 Loved it sooooo much! 😍 And immediately moving to the next book because these two deserves a stellar HEA. 🥰

4.5 I’ll always be your anchor stars

All work and no play makes Spencer a dull boy! and I hate to say it but until the last 20% of the book things don’t improve!

 photo tumblr_mem6yc432Z1r57dsjo1_500.jpg

I am a huge Aleksandr Voinov fan and have grown to love L.A Witt in the previous instalments of The Market Garden series, but unfortunately If It Flies didn’t fly for me!

I am actually lost for words… Ha, me speechless, now that doesn't happen often. Usually I can waffle on for pages in awe of Mr Voinov’s writing even the two previous short novellas from these two great authors produced plenty of inspiration and effusive dialogue. I loved Tristan and Jared and instantly engaged with the characters and was invested in their story, the fact that it was off the charts hot and smouldering with lots of luscious sex also helped. So what went wrong? same two authors but two new characters!

Persuaded by his friend Percy, Spencer joins him for a night at Market Garden, the high class whore house catering to all needs and requirements. While adjusting his eyes to the darkness he see’s a vision of blond hair and green eyes dressed in low slung leather trousers and bare chest with nipple piercings walking towards him. Spencer, not sure what he wants and has absolutely no idea of the protocol in such an establishment, is tongue tied and totally out of his comfort zone, wishing only for the ground to open up and swallow him whole!

As a Lawyer, Spencer was the one usually in control, yet somehow Nick had an inexplicable power over him and although he questioned Nick’s commands in his mind, Spencer’s body had already reacted. Spencer trusts Nick, he wasn’t sure why but he was enjoying his voyage of discovery in to the world of BDSM, and embracing his inner pain slut, Nick pushed the boundaries and every one of Spencer’s buttons to the point of euphoria, he did things to his body and took it to places he had never dreamed were possible… Being with Nick was all consuming, something he had never experienced before and he wants more!

The first third of the book was the meet and the first sex scene, now considering how smouldering Tristan and Jared were in such a short novella you would think that more page time for these two would see your kindle self combust, but unfortunately that was not the case. This is told form Spencer’s POV and on his own he was not engaging enough to keep my attention, I just couldn’t connect to him at all, with no personality or quirks to get excited about. Nick was a Dom, so I would expect him to radiate power when he appears on page yet all I got was detachment, he was aloof with no real conviction. The first sex scene was drawn out and totally uninspiring and for me to put a book down in the middle of a sex scene is unheard of!

The middle of the book was a little better, although we lost 3 months in a flash and I would have liked more time to see the relationship develop, and then their arrangement all of a sudden goes wrong! We have a little visit to a sex party that I didn’t quite see the point of and then at 20% FINALLY I got the characters and book I wanted. We saw a side to Nick I would have liked to see earlier, there was depth of emotion and feeling from him where we had previously had cold and calculating, I understand he is a prostitute and perhaps that was his way of dealing with it, but we were given nothing to endear him to us. The last few pages were heartfelt and actually quite beautiful and I only wish we had seen more of their character and personality earlier on in the book.

I still <3 you both and hope that it was just me that didn’t quite get it, maybe an off day, who knows! But it will certainly not deter me from reading more of the series. Please bring us more of Tristan and Jared as a couple I adore them!

Well, it was bound to happen. There had to come a day when I just wouldn’t enjoy something written by The Genius. At least once, right?

I’m a fan of the first two Market Garden books. Sure, they’re short stories, essentially just barely more than pwp. But I really like Tristan and Jared...as characters, I find them charming, I like their attraction to one another, the sex is ridiculously steamy, and I’m left wanting more of their story.

I just didn’t have the same connection, or ANY connection, with Spencer and Nick. And without that, how or why am I supposed to care what happens to them? On top of that, though I’m not a big BDSM fan to begin with, the way it’s written in this book feels completely inauthentic and plays to all the reasons people misunderstand it in the first place…that it’s just about masochists wanting it rough. No real consideration of the nuances in the relationship between a Dom and a sub.

Lastly, the pacing of the book is odd. For the first 40%, I felt dragged along as the MC’s meet and spend their first night together. I was bored. And then the next 1/3 of the book was a summarized version, fast-forwarded past months of apparent regular interactions between the two. Finally, and what is the saving grace for the book, the last 1/3 started to introduce a story line and some plot, but by this point, I just didn’t care. And by the time Nick’s speech to Spencer came around, I was not buying it.

In a nutshell: if you find yourself skimming a book that’s only 140 pages long, you know you’re in trouble…

Thanks to Riptide for the ARC...hope you don't mind the honest review...

If it flies, drives, or fornicates, it's always cheaper to rent it

I just don't know... I loved Quid pro Quo and Take it Off but I didn't love this one :(. I rounded up to 3 stars but this is 2.5 stars for me.

Spencer is a lawyer who meets Nick in Market Garden.

"You buy me a drink, it's a fiver. You want to lick it off me? It's a hundred?"

Yeah, pretty simple!

Spencer rents Nick for a couple hours and he wants more after that encounter. They had good sex, I should admit that but I just didn't feel the chemistry between them at all.
I think there was potential and I was expecting something better to happen but it didn't. I feel very bad now because I just LUST LOVE Voinov's books but this one wasn't for me.

"When we're here, like this, it's easy to say we can make something work. But when the sun comes up is when the rubber meets the road"

I must say I missed my boys and Rolex. I wish they could write a story about Rolex *SIGH*

I might be back to post a decent review tomorrow...

The best part about reading this book was reading with my fave RUBIA ever, love ya Sarita, BIG TIME!

Finally!! Some quality time with Nick!!

Hot Nick Ass

BDSM has so many elements. I'm more accustomed to books that focus on the Bondage/Discipline aspect but If It Flies focuses more on the Sadist/Masochist aspect. Nick is a natural Dom, but he is also a Sadist. He gets off sexually on the pain of others. Nick is also a somewhat jaded rentboy. Experience has taught him to never mix the business aspect with his personal life.
“Do you date at all?” Spencer asked.

“You find me a guy worth dating who’s willing to date a whore, and we’ll talk.” The faintest hint of bitterness tinged the edges of his voice.

Spencer is a workaholic lawyer that doesn't know how to relax on the weekends. He pretty much gets bullied into a trip to the Market Garden. That visit turns into a journey of self discovery. As Spencer learns and accepts his new sexual role as a Masochist, he starts to develop feelings for Nick.
My Spencer
“Right now, you’re in a pretty weird place. Open doors and all that. You’re discovering what you really like, and that’s fine by me. I’m more than okay to train you. But the thing is, it’s intense. It can be really intense, and emotions get muddled. What’s lust and getting off on the pain can quite easily get mistaken for something more than that. I’m not saying ‘more serious,’ because that stuff is damn serious, but I know people who’ve made life decisions based on those feelings and ended up making mistakes. Do you understand?”

“What if you’re wrong?”

“I’m not,” Nick said, matter-of-factly. “I’ve seen it before. I can be your Dom, but there’s no way in hell I’ll date you.”

Nick is a cocky, confident, Dom, but he isn't heartless. He is not immune to Spencer's blind, submissive trust. Nick struggles with the emotions he feels for his client. His Sub!

description
“I want to give you what I have, Spencer, and take everything from you. But that shit’s not easy when there’s money involved. The things I want to give you—you can’t buy those. Nobody can. They aren’t for sale.”

Nick has a beautiful soft side, and I needed to see more of it. But he was aloof for over 80% of the book. I never connected with Spencer emotionally either. It's very unfortunate that we weren't introduced to Nick's emotions until the final thirteen pages of the book. I never got a glimpse into Nick's POV or his feelings for Spencer. If It Flies is a wonderful introduction for Spencer and Nick, but wasn't enough. I felt as if I read the first half of a novel and then it ended just as I was starting to care for the characters.

The sex between Nick and Spencer was ok, but not panty drenching. And that would have been alright, if I could have at least had more heartfelt emotions from them. I have a theory that great sex without passionate kissing, isn't half as enjoyable as a passionate make out session with deep dizzying kisses. Maybe I enjoyed Tristan and Jared more because they kissed liked they meant it. Like they wanted each other. Nick and Spencer just turned on the heat a little too late to achieve a 5 star rating. That was my only complaint. The writing, however, was top notch and the story was enjoyable.

This is a solid 3.5 star read!

“If the two of them could get through a scene like this without that word being spoken again, then maybe…maybe this ran deeper than sex and cash, deep enough to go all the way.”

As much as I love Tristan and Jared and wanted their story to continue, it was very easy for me to set them aside once I met and fell in love with Nick and Spencer.

Spencer is a busy, tired and stressed-out lawyer with no time for relationships. His co-worker, Percy, with a failed marriage behind him and confident in his belief that it’s always cheaper to rent than buy, introduces him to the Market Garden, where he meets Nick.

Nick’s cockiness, his leather pants, and his sexy strut are a complete turn-on to Spencer, even if their negotiation ends up being funny and a little awkward. Nick is an experienced Dom, which Spencer discovers early on is exactly what he needs.

Spencer is not sexually inexperienced, but what he explores with Nick is new for him. I loved the easy connection between client and prostitute after their initial awkwardness. Always the professional, Nick has a businesslike demeanor and the self-control that prevents him from ever getting involved with his clients. When Spencer becomes Nick’s regular client, their lovemaking takes on a new intensity as Spencer begins to accept his submissive/masochistic tendencies and his trust in Nick deepens. The BDSM scenes were riveting and passionate and took my breath away. It is quite obvious that deeper feelings are now involved, but Nick loses his fragile self-control and crosses a line, causing problems in their relationship. I loved how Nick and Spencer solved their difficulties and found Nick’s exploration of his own feelings and heart’s desire as intense and emotionally charged as their sex scenes.

I loved both characters and can’t wait to read their next story.

Market Garden takes a turn toward the sadistic side of lust...
It was odd that he felt his strongest while Nick hurt him. Not hurt hurt, but that moment when the pain came in and receded, like a rolling wave that bared treasure on the way back—that moment felt always like he’d tapped into an inner strength he’d never before touched or been aware of.
I couldn't stay away from the Market Garden series.
1 - I adore L.A. Witt & Aleksandr Voinov
2 - I have a thing for Rent Boys
3 - I loved the first two books

While Quid Pro Quo & Take It Off were all about the blossoming lust-to-love romance of Jared and Tristan, this book focuses on the whip-wielding rent boy Nick...

He wasn’t just a prostitute. He wasn't even just a top. He was, quite literally, during the scenes, the centre of Spencer’s world.
It seems like business as usual when a skiddish new john walks in to Market Garden. Nick wastes no time in sizing him up as a submissive, and quickly makes a move for the new client.

What the hell? Spencer could make juniors stammer and bend clients to his will. But this blond kid who’d wrapped himself in leather and arrogance turned him into a stuttering, stumbling idiot.
Spencer is a Corporate Attorney who is on the fast-track to a heart attack if he doesn't learn to leave his desk and blow off some steam. As a closeted lawyer, he can't seem to use the usual avenues to find willing bed-mates... At the recommendation of a friend, he finds himself at Market Garden and face to face with Nick.

A whirlwind relationship in the form of a business transaction ensues. As Spencer and Nick explore the pleasure that can be gained from combining their sadistic & masochistic tendencies, the trust and familiarity grows into something far more intimate...
Both men think they’re just scratching each other’s backs: Spencer’s exploring a submissive, masochistic side he never knew he had, and Nick is getting off and getting paid. But as time goes on, it’s clear their strictly professional arrangement . . . isn't, and if Nick has one hard limit, it’s that he doesn't get romantically entangled with his johns. The problem is, while Nick doesn't want to be owned, Spencer’s no longer content with just renting.
I'm diving right into If It Fornicates to find out what happens with this kinky pair. I'm not sure if I liked this book quite as much as the first two in the series... I think that the dual POV with Jared and Tristan made those books stronger. This story is told solely from Spencer's perspective, but I happen to know that the next book is Nick's POV, so this type of split seems interesting.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say this is my favorite in the Market Garden series thus far! 4 very strong stars for me (who apparently loves kink!!).

I was a bit thrown when this book started with completely different characters than the first two in the series. However, I quickly fell for Spencer and Nick.

Though I read a lot of BDSM, it has to be done just right for me to love it. Too much too fast and the scene reads as forced. Too timid and it doesn't feel real (you can't have a timid Dom!). However, Nick is a Dom extraordinaire and, heck, I felt dominated from the other side of my Kindle (Yes, sir!). I think Spencer made a beautiful sub and the interaction between the two of them was just beautiful. I think the transition from scene-mates to something more felt natural and organic. L.A. and Alek did a fabulous job with this one.

I was soooooo happy for a meatier book with this installment, however "If It Flies" managed to feel completely truncated to me. You need to move straight on to If It Fornicates in order to preserve your sanity and get the rest of Nick and Spencer's story. Trust me on this one!

4 Intense Stars

Spencer braced against the bed and forced back tears that were increasingly from pleasure more than pain.
Pleasure? From--
Snap.
God, yes.
Snap.

Longer than the first two books in the series combined, this book plays with deeper connections. I thought the Market Garden books might maintain the lighter, sweeter tone of the first two, but no. Instead, Witt and Voinov approached this one with more intensity, if you can believe it. One of the things they did carry over though, was the tempo of building a scene. If they’re trying to get you off, they’re successful. Is that saying too much?

Told from Spencer’s POV, it’s clear why he’s attracted to Nick. What isn’t completely clear is, why the sudden change in Nick? Presumably the next book will show his POV, and that should be EPIC. I find Nick a very interesting character. A beautiful, young blonde guy who’s a Dom just doesn’t fit my preconceived notions. Why I have preconceived notions of Doms is another topic all together.

So strange, being this offbalance and aroused at the same time.

This BDSM tale may not suit the same audience that books 1 & 2 did; the sweeter tone isn’t here but the MC’s find in each other exactly what they need. I appreciate the time the authors took to get me into a headspace where I could understand how pain can enhance the moment. I love the “sparks of light” analogy and if that is truly what it’s like for some, then yes; I can grasp the concept and the pull of that experience. I hope the Market Garden books choose to explore all kinds of sexual experiences, after all that’s exactly what a garden should offer…variety.

The stars are coming out.

THE CHARACTERS

Spencer - By day Spencer is an overworked, highly stressed attorney who needs to let go of some tension. At night, with Nick, he’s a emerging masochist.

”I’ll be honest here. I’m new to this.” […]
“What does two hours with Nick get me, anyway?”

Nick - We know he’s a skilled Dom and a sadist. We know he’s cocky and sexy as hell. But that’s about it. He’s still a mystery and I’m okay with that…for now.

Nick was gone. Completely gone. A phantom who’d slipped back into the shadows, leaving only goose bumps as evidence he’d ever been there at all.

THE WRITING

Again, I have to mention the stellar pacing of the writing. By stretching out the intro and giving us a little more insight into Spencer’s world it allows the reader to find themselves in Spencer’s head when he does eventually get together with Nick. And, when they do come together it’s an amazing view of a very different relationship.

There is still a lot to be answered and it’s difficult to see how such a relationship, with all it’s obstacles could flourish, but I’m anxious to see where it goes.

Nick, the one that slipped in and out of the bedroom like smoke under the door,...

OH yeah, I want more of that!

I love Nick and Spencer.
------------------------------------

Market Garden 3&4 features Spencer and Nick and can be read without having read 1&2

Spencer has a high demanding job as a lawyer and feels so stressed, he needs something to relieve the pressure. When his colleague and friend Percy takes him to Market Garden, he simply goes along with it. He is not expecting much of this place where one can find rentboys for hire.

But when Spencer spots Nick he is instantly attracted to him. He just doesn’t know why. When he hires Nick for an hour or two, Spencer finds out what attracted him to Nick. Nick is a Dom, and just what Spencer needs, even though Spencer didn’t realize it at the time.

After an incredibly hot encounter Spencer wants to hire Nick more often, and the two form an agreement. Nick will be Spencer's Dom and will help him relieve some stress on a regular basis.

They meet up every Friday and Spencer is enjoying every second. But after several months things seem to change between them. Spencer is having a hard time seeing Nick as only a rentboy, and it looks like Nick might have feelings too....

A rentboy falling in love with a client….. happy sigh…. I loved it. Nick was a perfect Dom. Very strict with Spencer when necessary, yet very sweet underneath that controlling exterior.

I loved that Spencer was older, taller and more muscular than Nick, but young Nick was so dominant that there was never any doubt who was in charge.

I also loved that there wasn't a lot of angst in this. Nick has a freak-out moment when feelings come into play, but that's about it.

Hot sex, tender moments… I loved it all.

PAINFULLY & PLEASURABLY SEXY.
I really liked it!
First of all, I wanna say I'm really impressed on L.A. Witt & Aleksandr Voinov's pairing. Their writing is really really good. I haven't read a solo L.A. Witt read yet, but I can really tell their collaboration works so well. They did everything right.

Whoo! This was really hot.

Spencer & Nick

Nick! A sexy motherfucker. A rentboy and dominant in one who really knows what he does and enjoys it. Who would not like that?

And Spencer, the tentative thrill seeker. Ends up loving the adventure he paid for.

Their chemistry was actually really sexy. I really really dig their scenes. I always found BDSM really hot. Especially if I'm just reading about it. LOL! Because experiencing it might be a different feeling. XD By the way the BDSM here is not too much. (except the whipping) So guys, don't sweat it. ;) I end up really liking it and enticed by the lifestyle again.

This is a novella also by the way. But I can guarantee that it's jam packed and won't leave you hanging. Again, another reason why I'm so impressed with the authors. How can a short read deliver a reading experience even better than the long ones? Can't answer that because it's beyond my comprehension. XD

This is A RECOMMENDED READ from me. Especially for those who follows the Market Garden series. And for those who would like to read a really sexy BDSM/Rentboy read. By the way, I think this can be read as a standalone. Characters from the first two shorts haven't been mentioned here. Enjoy!!!

I guess this is where I have to say I was wrong in thinking I don't like bondage. Who knew?

I went into this book with fairly low expectations. Sure, I liked the authors, and sure I liked the series, but I wasn't necessarily looking forward to this installment that much. I am very glad to be proved wrong.

I think what sets the bondage I like (such as in this book) apart from what I do not like (in fact it comes closer to hate than dislike) is the clarity of consent. Books like this set forth very clear rules, and boundaries, and there is a sense that the dominant partner is constantly aware (not supernaturally so, but through a very deliberate process) of how the submissive partner is handling things, and they are not left alone after their sessions. I also get the feeling that the dominant partner knows what he is doing, and is very much in control of himself, and the situation. This was brought home in this book with Nick and the whip.

I like how the bondage seems to satisfy a need both men have, and Spencer thrives, and finds fulfillment, and it isn't something he was convinced he liked. They connection between the men felt real, and I liked the feeling of the ending. This was far from Pretty Woman, and there was no "saving" the hooker, or promises of forever, but it still felt like the start of something real.

I'm hoping the next one continues where this left off. I'd love to read more about Nick and Spencer.

It was odd that he felt his strongest while Nick hurt him. Not hurt hurt, but that moment when the pain came in and receded, like a rolling wave that bared treasure on the way back-that moment felt always like he'd tapped into an inner strength he'd never before touched or been aware of.

There's quite a bit to like about If It Flies. This installment is quite a bit more involved which, I mean, let's call a spade a spade, didn't take much. I kinda miss Rolex and the lapdancing, ain't gonna lie. BUT they did hit me right in the big sub/little dom sweet spot. Mmmmmhmmmm

Usually I enjoy the (no pun intended) wit these two put into their prose/dialogue and they didn't disappoint. I liked being in Spencer's head while he discovers his masochistic side with Nick. I liked the power games and pain play between them, particularly Nick's pointing thing. What I found lacking was the connection between them. I think too much happened off the page. I agree they fulfill each others needs for sadomasochism, but beyond that I'm having trouble buying.

I'm still looking forward to the next installment. No quitting the Market Garden rentboys for Cupcake!

This is actually my favorite of the series so far.

There was more of a plot than in the first two and I liked watching rentboy Nick bring out Spencer's submissive and masochistic side. Nick is a cocky Dom who fits the part just right and knows how to read Spencer and push him to his limits. The progression of the relationship felt natural, although I wold have liked to see a little bit of what happened during the 3 month time jump in training.

There was also just the right amount of conflict and drama between the two without getting angsty. Ready to see what happens in the next volume, as these two cannot have an easy road ahead of them.

As It Flies is the third book in the Market Garden series but in this book we leave behind Tristan and Jared and instead meet two new characters; Spencer and Nick.

Spencer, is a lawyer who is stuck in a rut, spending his life working far too many hours and having very little fun, so when his friend Percy persuades him to try 'renting' some fun in the form of a male prostitute he decides to give it a go and goes along to Market Garden, a high class brothel.

Meet Nick, an experienced, highly in demand male prostitute, who has a special talent as a Dom and a sadist, offering clients a mix of pleasure and pain and making grown men submit to his control......something Spencer is instantly drawn to.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

And so Nick offers Spencer the opportunity to pay for his services as a Dom and teach him how to be a Sub. Question is, can they keep it strictly professional?, and what if Spencer decides he's not content with just renting?.

“Do you date at all?” Spencer asked. “You find me a guy worth dating who’s willing to date a whore, and we’ll talk.”

I have to start by saying that I did enjoy this book but it just didn't blow me away, to be honest nothing much happened until the last 25% of the book. I was expecting some big event to occur, some big jaw dropping movement, but it just never happened and as a result what could have been a great story was just an okay story for me.

I think the main problem was that I absolutely loved the first two books in this series and this one just wasn't the same. Don't get me wrong it certainly wasn't the fault of the main characters as I loved Spencer, I loved Nick, and I loved Spencer and Nick together, but the story just never really took off.

I still loved the authors writing style, and the sex scenes, whilst not as steamy for me, were still swoon worthy......just not orgasm inducing I'm afraid. It felt like a skeleton of a story to me, I just wanted so much more. I never really got to know Nick, largely i think due to the story being from Spencer’s POV, and the men sharing very little about their personal lives, so because of this I was never able to form an emotional connection to ether Nick or the story in general.

In fairness I think I opened this book expecting to find another Tristan and Jared so I think it was slightly tainted from the start. However there were moments where I really felt a connection to the characters, where I started to see some more emotion and I think if the story had been further developed and had delved a little deeper, it could have been a five star read for me.

Oh dear Where to start? First off before I get to reviewing the book I want to say that I still heart L.A and Aleks as writers, one book disappointment is not going to change that so I write this review with a slightly heavy heart. Like the majority of readers I thoroughly enjoyed Books 1& 2, both 5 star reads IMO, even though they were a lot shorter than this one... Endearing, cheeky and loveable characters and smoking sex scenes that as well as being hot as hell, oozed chemistry and connection between all the protags including the John - Rolex. Unfortunately that's the problem with this one for me... No connection, no chemistry and sadly as intense as the BDSM scenes are , no heat!! I admit that D/s relationships aren't my fave in m/m but in this case its more than that, if the ST is rocking between the guys in a story I can deal with some kinky play but if not it just leaves me cold and this left me shivering! Granted as others have said there is a slight improvement in the last 20 % or so of the book when we see bit more of a 'softer side' to Nick and Spencers relationship, but it comes a bit too late to fully redeem the story. Will I carry on the series... It depends. I desperately want the others to get back the feeling from the first two because those are keepers. Sorry Aleks, Sorry L.A, you are both still my faves but I can't go above 2.5*'for Nick and Spencer. Round up to 3 because the writing is superb as always. * sighs!*

I enjoyed this story because I have an endless fascination with BDSM. I found it interesting to see the main character Spencer discover his overwhelming desire to be a sub. He discovers this at the hands of a snarky, sarcastic man/child named Nick. The key to it all is trust, they develop a bond of trust that becomes unshakable. The kicker is that of a powerful lawyer being a sub. Who wouldn't enjoy that.

I give it a single tail full of stars. Warning:if you are not interested in BDSM best keep moving on.

I am going to add to this, that this is about discovering a world that one character has never experienced. This one is not just hot sex. I think the duo(Voinov & Witt) is taking flack over that, and that's too bad. This is not Tristan and Jared's story, this is Spencer and Nick's.

Another great addition to the series.

In this one we meet Nick and Spencer. While this one would still be considered a novella, it felt a bit more developed then the first two books about Jared and Tristan.

A bit more BDSM then I prefer and generally read...but nothing I couldn't handle.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where things go.

Oh dear, didn't think I was going to finish this, I just couldn't get invested in the characters, so 3 stars at best.

This series started off really well, and I had no problems in awarding the first book 5 stars...it was smokin' hot and sooo sexy. Then the second book came out, and my interest started waning....4 stars and probably, in truth, should have been 3.5, but everyone else seemed to love it, so I thought it was just me...hormones etc., This one, as I've already said, I struggled to a) get interested enough in the characters to want to read it and b) struggled to want to finish it, and I have to admit that I did skip parts to get to the end. Not sure whether I will continue with the series after this one.

I thought I wouldn't like Nick and Spencer as much as Jared and Tristan.

I. Was. So. Wrong!

There is the prostitute Nick, a Dom and Sadist, who doesn't give away anything about his true self in the first place, and Spencer, a lawyer, who discovers his needs as a submissive and a masochist.

Nick is so sexy and controlled, so cool and secretive. I hadn't any issues with his aloof demeanor. In his job he has to keep it that way and he is good at his job.
And it's okay that we get to know his true self not too early in the book. The story is told only in Spencer's point of view, so we can't participate in Nick's thoughts. I guess that's exactly the intention behind writing a story only in one POV.

I love the chemistry between Spencer and Nick and how their relationship changes step-by-step until they arrive at a turning point. Can they change their „businesslike“ encounters and is there really a chance for more? Can Spencer date a prostitute and can the guys build up a loving relationship although Nick stays in his job?

I would love reading more about the development of their relationship.

Thank you guys for an entertaining book.

I have read it in the wrong order! Yes, from the Part1 directly to the Part3. My luck -it is a collection of the different stories with the different characters. Otherwise I would have noticed it!
I am sill in the middle of reading...Quickly back to Part 2!

...and the single thought that was on my mind the whole day:

HOW DOES THE CO-WRITING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT WORK WITHOUT ENDING UP IN A WILD ORGY?!

I am most certainly not suitable for this work putting aside my writing skills...

I really enjoyed the first two Market Garden books and I wasn't quite sure if I would like Nick and Spencer as much as Jared and Tristan. However I did. If It Flies is a longer book than the previous two and concentrates more on the Sadist/Masochist aspect of BDSM. I loved the added intensity of this book and for me it is the best one so far.

Still a gazillion-star read the second time around!🤩

------------------

27 April 2024

By far my favourite entry in this series! I wish I had a gazillion stars to give because it was perfect✨

WHY I LIKED THIS
(read: "why I liked this enough to try for a coherent review even though all I want to do is jump to book 4 asap")😭

- Relationship dynamic. We're working with a D/s baseline (my favourite) but the way the authors depict Spencer trying (and learning to enjoy) kink was fantastic and realistic and earnest. Also, there's plenty of subspace.

- Race. Spencer is black and that's it. No fetish kink. No dancing around the topic or walking on egg shells. It was refreshing.

- All the SPICE. So so saucy🥵

- The end. I will never turn down an opportunity to dance on the grave of the miscommunication trope and I'm glad to report this book neatly circumvented that despite having some (well-executed) third act drama.

Overall this series continues to impress me and I cannot pick up the next book soon enough!

If it flies, drives, or fornicates, it’s cheaper to rent it.

Well after getting over my initial disappointment that this wasn’t another Tristan and Jared story, I quite enjoyed this one! Spencer is a lawyer who’s stuck in a rut. He works long hours and really doesn’t have time for a relationship. His friend/co-worker Percy talks him in to going to Market Garden, an exclusive (and expensive!) brothel. Spencer is immediately approached by Nick, a Dom and one of Market Gardens top rentboys. I enjoyed watching Spencer discover his submissive/masochistic side. And I enjoyed watching Nick realize that Spencer is more than just a client.

This one definitely has more of a storyline than the previous two Market Garden installments. It’s not just sex; we get to know the characters better. Immediately moving on to If It Fornicates...

4.5 stars

Phew... *wipes her sweaty forehead* What can I say?

Eeeem... Thanks, Joe!

While the first two instalments more or less were mere PWPs -excellently written PWPs but PWPs nonetheless- this was more. Not only more in length, also more in depth.

I love BDSM if it's well written and here it's extremly great written!

(Nick is discribed much more discreet but it suits him definitely more than this !!! *choke and shiver*)

The story is told in Spencer's POV only and it was great to be in his head while he "discovered" his submissive side. I felt him falling for Nick and felt with him.

Though, I had my doubts with Nick for a great part because I couldn't read him. Sure, he has to keep his secrets and control. But since I didn't have his POV, it was a bit difficult for me to "see" him.

Still, up to this point it's my favorite part of the series and I can't wait to read more about these two in the next book which I'm starting now.

Holy shit, this series is FUCKHOT. Damn.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Spencer is an overworked, under-sexed closeted attorney. When his coworker talked him into coming to Market Garden for a night of hot sex with a rent boy of his choice...he went. Not sure what he was walking into, he sets eyes on Nick. Nick is a high-paid Dom and sadist. He appears to see deep inside Spencer's psyche...able to see the submissive he's hiding deep inside.

What follows is a night of unbridled, almost animalistic D/s passion. Wow. It. Was. Hot. I'm not really into reading MM BDSM but somehow these two heated up the pages to scorching levels. Nick was a perfect fit to train Spencer in the ways of a submissive relationship.

But can they keep this connection strictly professional? It's about money for Nick...no feelings, no dating can occur. Both men aren't prepared for the connection they share to cross the next level.

Loved this book. Gah. I hope to get more from these two. Loved their dynamics. And the scenes were just simply hot and not too intense like MM D/s has been for me in the past. I'm devouring this series.

Moving on...

**Thank you Secret Santa**

I always have mixed feelings when one of the MC’s is a rent boy because I want them to be monogamous. Im carrying on with the next book and will soon see how this plays out and see how they handle Nick’s job.

Nick and Spencer are in the unlucky position of having their arc follow my beloved Jared and Tristan. Still I remember liking the couple more last time. It’s hard to be objective. I hope they grow on me.

Sweet. Mother. Of God.

Yup. This is going on my V8 shelf. WHY did I wait so long to read this? Actually I know why. See, Quid Pro Quo was my first real m/m story and I fell hard, fast and panting for Tristan and Jared. When I saw a third book in the series and it wasn't them? I pouted. Ugh. Nick should have come over and whipped my ass for not reading this. Good lord.

Nick and Spencer, what an amazing pair. I loved that Spencer gets dragged to Market Garden and gets exactly what he had no idea he needed. I am a hopeless romantic and feel there is always a possibility for people to connect and fall for each other and I was holding my breath for these two.
But as he watched Nick... he had a feeling this was what he’d paid for.
Not just getting fucked, but getting mindfucked.

Nick is smoking hot! Good lord he is so confident, bossy, toppy, Dommy and sexy as all fucking hell, that even me as a Vegan got turned on by the idea of licking his leather covered lower half. Yup. I love me some Nick.
I don't know what you're doing, Nick, but don't ever, ever stop.

Spencer, he told his story beautifully. There is a thing I need with kink and how it's written, and while we don't get pages and pages of scene work between these two, it was believable watching Spencer own his submission and masochistic side. *sigh* Spencer flying. Nick giving Spencer the space to fly... yeah, that was stunning.

I was so happy by the end of this book, it was exactly what I wanted. GAH! Nick can reduce me to goo with his words whether they are a command or from his heart and I just want to push those blond locks off his forehead and...
Fuck the clock. Fuck the price. Just . . . fuck.

Yeah, I'm ready to move on to the next book. Be ready for me boys.
