Full Moon is part of a series that follows Alfie, a boy who turns into a werewolf every time there is a full moon.
The story starts on a night with a full moon. Alfie, the werewolf, has been caught eating someone’s chickens. As he is trying to escape the man, he is saved by his best friend Tim. Alfie lives with Tim and his parents who all know his secret and help him keep it that way.
This adventure follows him as he goes on a school trip to country. Tim in unable to go on the trip as he falls ill, and that is where the problems start for Alfie. Tim discovers that he has confused the dates for the full moon, leaving Alfie at risk of turning into a werewolf in front of his classmates. There are a number of problems that he faces on the trip, including stopping his admirer Noura from finding out about him and hiding from the hunter who chickens he ate previously. The story ends with his family coming to the rescue, including a surprise addition who previously tried to scare Alfie away. There is also twist involving Noura as well.
This book is well written, it is funny with some great characters. It’s a great book for the upper primary age group, especially for independent reading.
