One woman fighting for her future, two men trapped by their past …

One taste of Jerricho Black, Dom for hire, and Scarlet Bailey knows she’s made a big mistake. It's not the sting of his crop but the intimacy that makes her come undone. The threat made all the more real when her husband hires his services for the next forty days.

Wrongly suspected of a crime he didn’t commit, on the run and in trouble, Jerricho needs the money Killian Bailey offers him. Sleeping with another man’s wife is nothing personal, but every day Scarlet slips deeper into his blood.

Killian tells himself he is not worthy of his wife, not after she got hurt on his watch, and not until he gets his revenge. Now he’s hired a man to give Scarlet what he can’t. So why does he want to hit the man?

Sometimes home feels strange and a stranger feels like home … sometimes the only redemption you find is the one you bought.

Wow!! LOVED. THIS. BOOK.

description

Warning: I ramble when I find book perfection so this will be a review of feels not necessarily a recap of the story.

I am a total glutton for pain play... I am fascinated with the art of losing oneself in pain and finding immense pleasure/submission from another persons hands.
This book topped my vices.... It was super erotic and kinky, filled w suspense and drama.. it was an over the top bonding of 3 broken people who are struggling to find themselves after tragedy and self loathing wrecked their lives.

Jerricho and Scar met under unusual circumstances. Scar is trying to fill a void/need and Jerricho is trying to pay off a debt that belongs to a stranger. They have an immediate connection but refuse to let it be anything other than physical. Together they are off the charts HOT!

Killian- Scars husband, a man who has allowed the past to destroy his mind...Revenge controls him and has driven a devastating wedge in his marriage.
Killian discovers Scar is meeting up with Jerricho and hires him for her...gives him an offer he can't refuse given his circumstances. His wants Jerricho to give Star the intimacy, pain and pleasure that his guilt will no longer allow him to give.

The journey Killian sets in motion transcends any of his expectations. The relationship's formed are filled with ecstasy, misery, jealousy and love.
Scar finds herself through pain- Killian learns to let go and Jerricho finds home.
The characters are phenomenal, the build up is sensual and the scenes are off the charts! These 3 beautiful people were fucking fantastic together!!!!

Nicolette Hugo has a special way of feeding your guilty pleasures. This was so much more than sex, it was filled w action, suspense and drama...It was self healing and discovery. There is knowledge (or experience) in her scenes/words that make them come alive within the pages. I am left sated and fulfilled, looking forward to anything she writes in the future!

This is definitely one of my favs for 2016!

10 months ago Scar was kidnapped by the cartel to force Killian to work with them. This event was tragic for both of them. Both handle it in their way. Killian doesn't feel worth touching his wife until he finds the kidnapper and makes him suffer. He can't forgive himself untill he manages that. Scarlet needs to be touched and gets this with Jerricho. Jerricho is on the run and being blackmailed. To get money he sells himself as a dom. He is a sadist and gets Scar's masochist side to surface. Scar and Killian have had other men of women in their bed but Killian doesn't know how to feel about Jerricho.

This book had some hot, kinky scenes in it including MM and MMF. I loved this intense, well written story and look forward to read more from this author! A few months ago I read Exhibition and loved it...

What I missed was an epilogue...

I really needed to take my time to process this book in order to review it. Quite simply, I just wanted to do it justice because it was a remarkable read. Nicolette is really making her mark when it comes to BDSM romances, and she is fast becoming one of my favorites. Her writing style is impeccable and her stories have a way of absorbing you into them to the point where you just can't stop reading. I look forward to each new release from her, and somehow she is able to make each book better than the last. She is exceedingly talented at her craft.

"The sin in her smile was enough to send a man to any of the hells he believed in."

Bought was a complete package. It had an engaging plot that kept me guessing while seamlessly balancing the suspense with the intense chemistry of the characters. It was a complex tale that I couldn't put down. Each character was well developed and you could feel the intense chemistry between them all pouring off of the pages. Jerricho was the stand-out character for me though. He was an enigma and I loved everything we learned about him. I think Scarlett and Killian definitely met their match in him, and the only thing I would have loved to have explored more was the dynamics with all three of them together. I think there is more to tell story wise between Jerricho and Killian, but Scarlett is definitely the bridge to exploring their relationship more.

"Whoever said you couldn't break somebody with pleasure hadn't really been trying."

Overall, this was a fantastic read and I can't recommend it enough to you all. If you love BDSM reads with a bit of suspense mixed in, this is definitely going to be the book for you. I do believe it is going to be one of those books I come back to when I'm in a reading funk, because it was just that well written and enjoyable. I am eagerly anticipating what Nicolette has in store for us in the future!

This book is excellent - the author's writing style is really great & the plot is intense and fast moving. Very original premise.

okay, finished now...

Definitely a unique story line with lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed the characters and the author did a very good job developing them over the course of the book and creating interesting relationships between the three MCs. Fun twist at the end which I didn't see coming and really enjoyed.

I liked the relationship between Jerricho and Killian and would have loved to see that as more of the story, but the MF, MFM and MMF scenes were extremely well done. Lots of details and emotions and explanations behind what is being done, which I appreciated and enjoyed.

I would definitely read this author again and would only beg her for an MM book? pretty please?

I am really struggling to put into words how much I loved this story and the characters within. For a time, I completely inhabited their world and now find myself reluctant to leave.

Scarlet Bailey is still dealing with the trauma of events from ten months ago and worse still is the absence of her husband’s touch. She doesn’t doubt Killian’s love for a second, but is starved for physical affection:

“Strange how the absence of touch slowly turned you into an island.”

Killian and Scarlet have what some may view as an unconventional marriage. A third has been welcome on occasion. However, Killian is so consumed by guilt that until he has his revenge he feels unworthy of the salvation to be found in Scar’s arms.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and Scar employs the services of Dom for hire, Jerricho Black. Even saying his name out loud gives me goosebumps. He’s the type of guy that would suck all the air out of a room with his presence, but in an oh so good way….

Jerricho is not without his own ghosts and I found the chapters told from his POV the rawest. He is the perfect dichotomy of an angel and a devil. His scenes with Scar in the book are pulsating with chemistry. Their connection is obvious from the outset and a complication Jerricho could do without but strives for.

After Killian becomes aware of Scar and Jerricho’s appointments, he hires Jerricho for forty days and makes the man an offer he would be mad to refuse. Killian is the perfect example of still waters run deep; his love for Scarlet is unparalleled. This money could finally set Jerricho free from the bonds that tie and enable him to right a wrong.

I literally felt as if I was on the edge of my seat are Jerricho’s backstory and current situation were revealed. Add in the reasons why Killian and Scar are divided?! My emotions ran amok!!

At times I couldn’t fathom how any of this was going to work out and then added to which BAM! the story took a turn I was not expecting about two thirds into the book. I’m talking jaw-dropping, hold the fricking phone, message your bestie (even though she doesn’t have a clue what you’re gibbering about) type moment!!

This book will definitely be in my Top Ten reads of 2016. It’s full of complex characters and is an expertly woven tale. You’ve got to love a book that has you googling the term ‘bastinado’. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

This is the first time I've read anything by this author, and let me tell you, the story is near on perfection. Not just the plot, which is captivating, or the characters who are all fully-developed and compelling, but the share delivery!

The writing style was near on perfection for me. I was pulled right into the middle of these three peoples lives, my heart hurt when their's did, I could 'feel' the emotions, and that ladies and gentlemen is what makes a story work for me. Along, with an engaging plot of course.

It's so much easier to review a book that talks to me as I don't have to justify why I loved it. I simply did! Check out the other 5* reviews for a more in-depth analysis if you must. Honestly, I'm always skeptical when a book has nothing but good reviews, however I can now see why people have nothing but good things to say about this story.

These things did not factor into my rating... but need to be said, nevertheless.

My one quibble, because of course I have one, was the way the issue of safe sex was dealt with. I'm not the STD/Condom police but come on, Jerricho is a sex-worker, Scarlet is in an open marriage and the one conversation goes. "I'm clean"... "so am I"! Be gone, condoms.

Oh and the story is set in Australia, however, given its told using US dialogue it was easy to forget that fact.

No Rating.......

OK, so I went into this book blind and ironically it turned out to be SO different than what I was expecting. The reason I am not rating because it wouldn't be fair to the author to give a low rating due to just not "liking" it and I mean the writing was very good, the storyline for those in this particular genre would enjoy it but for me, it just wasn't for me. If I had done my usual "digging" up info before I read it, I wouldn't have read it to begin with if that makes sense. I basically speed read/skimmed through most of it once I got the "gist" of the story.

I did enjoy the author's writing and will definitely give her books a try again in the future but will make sure I do some sleuth work beforehand so I read what I am expecting to read, lol:)

I have to say that this was a twisted as heck book.. and I loved every second of it. Scarlet and Killian have sort of come to an impasse in their relationship because of what happened 10 months prior, but once Jericho enters the picture, things start to get interesting for all three of them.

I will say that I wished there was a bit more time spent on the 'previous partners' part of the story, but other than that, I loved this story. I think there were times where we could've gotten a bit more insight as to why Killian was turned on by Jericho... But in the end it didn't really matter, I loved the story.

There is some harsh and cruel scenes in the book, but they were fitting for the characters involved. There is plenty of hot and sexy scenes between all three characters.

I do have to admit, that while the ending was a nice, I still felt like Jericho was still an outsider, but that could have totally been the way I took things and not come out that way for anyone else.

All in all, I've become a huge fan of Nicolette Hugo for sure!

Scarlet and Killian Bailey had an open anguished marriage. Killian had troubled feelings since the kidnapping of Scarlet ten months earlier. Scarlet needed the touch that she was receiving from her husband. She hired Jerricho Black for that purpose. Killian found out about the arrangement so Killian hired Jerricho for forty days for Scarlet.

The story was dark, intense, exciting, and very erotic. The story was like being on a roller coaster, very fast and had twist and turns. Killian looking for the kidnapper. Jerricho trying to escape his past . Scarlet trying to find herself again.

Nicolette Hugo delivered an erotic story that a reader will not forget. Her characters come to life. My Kindle was on FIRE!!

This is my first time reading This author. And I didn't realize this book is part of a series until after I finished and visited the Amazon page. Although it does state it can be read as a stand alone I wonder if it would have been better read in order. This book started out kinda slow for me. I can usually devour a book in a day but this took me a few days to get to the part where I wanted to keep reading. The ending a bit predictable, although I loved the unique story line. The BDSM is in full force with fire place, wich was a great scene. I think over all I would give this book a 4.5 but will round up in anticipation of reading the remainder of the series.

Scarlett Bailey is a women in search of what she lost ten months ago; the one thing she needs to recover; to feel normal again. Scarlett is missing the intimacy she shared with her husband Killian.
Ten months ago, Scarlett was kidnapped as a leveraging tool by a Cartell seeking to use Killians shipping firm as a way to move sex slaves . The cartel did not waste anytime in proving that they meant business they sent him her finger as part of their original demand, proof that they had her; then gave Killian twenty four hours to,respond or loose her forecver. Scarlett and Killian may have physically survived but their relationship which was already morning the loss of a loved one took a hit. Killians sense of guilt for not protecting her better prevents that intamacy that she craves.
Free ten long months of waiting of trying to seduce Killian and failing Scarlett seeks out fuffilment.
That fuffilment will be coming n the form of a Dom for hire , the very sexy, very handsome Jericho Black.
Jericho even though he is a doctor can not practice in Australia , on the run for a misunderstanding that was leading to a full on railroad job he enters Australia through illegal means but falls subject to the cartel themselves and finds himself having to buy his way out of trouble with them by putting his natural sadomasichist tendencies to use as a Dom for hire; a Dom who is about to get a new customer.
"“Jerricho?” “Yes?” “I want sex. I want you to consume me. Hurt me. Fuck me. Degrade me. I don’t care. You asked me what my fantasy is … I want to feel … really feel … I want to feel you want me.” She wanted to belong. He got that. More than he should. More than he wanted to."
The story flies by from this point and sets a blazing hot trail along its way and becomes near impossible to put down.
What happens though when the very rich, very dominant husband discovers his wife has hired herself a Dom to have sex with? Well in this open marriage , you hire him for forty days to continue to make your wife happy. The only condition, not in his bed.
As Jericho and Scarlett's relationship, progresses, Killian finds himself a voyuer wanting to join in and participate but still holding himself back until he can have revenge on the bastard that hurt his Scarkett, until then he can not bring himself to touch her. But that does not stop him from allowing Jericho to touch him.
The book moves to a new level when Killian finds Scarlett's abducter and then includes Jericho in his revenge, but As much as Jericho sees the need to revenge for the women he has fallen in love with, the doctor in him is having difficulty ! He should leave, but leaving Scarlett will be hard , it will hurt her.
Off course I am not going to tell you anymore , you have to read this great book for yourself. The book is well written, with gripping characters , hot sexy scenes and a great plotline to boot! Loved this book had a hard time putting down and finished in one day?

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review

I'm sorry but I did not like this at all. There are books for everybody, this just wasn't for me.

Scarlet has been through the worst, after the death of her beloved singer partner, she was kidnapped and almost died if it wasn't for her husband saving her at the last minute. After that, her marriage took a toll; Killian has decided he wouldn't touch Scarlet until he can make her kidnappers pay, he ows it to her, and Scarlet has decided her way to cope and get past the incident is throughout intimacy, throughout sex. So her idea is to hire a Dom, Jerricho, to get what she needs. Jerricho's a doctor in debt with shady charachters to whom he offers medical attention to pay his debts but also a hire Dom.

Everything would've been fine if feelings didn't get in the way but Scarlet starts findindg things she needed from Jericho and he can't seem to stop being drawn to Scarlet. Killian's in the way too so that only complicates everything.

The thing is I couldn't connect with any of the charachters. They were too selfish for me. I couldn't feel anything for them, not one emotion and that's what I look for as a reader, feel their emotions. Also, I love descriptions of places, faces and other stuff but I didn't get it in this one and that was a huge let down for me but that's just personal taste. The sex scenes weren't as erotic as I like them so that couldn't keep my interest either.

WARNING: there are m/m and f/m/m scenes that aren't my favorite kind particularly. Maybe that was it too. I think it's just a matter of tastes because I loved Nicollette Hugo's Exhibition, I know the writer's quality in telling amazing stories so maybe this was just a little bump in the road. I'll still look forward to read more from this author.

3.5 interesting, steamy and confusing stars. I read another book by Nicolette Hugo and loved her writing so when I saw this I wanted to read it. The overview was tantalizing and so in I jumped. I pride myself on being able to be as open-minded as possible when it comes to exploring the darker, more complex regions of relationships and sexuality which is why I can even try Hugo's stuff because it's most definitely not for the fain of heart. Having said all of that, I wanted to love this story but found I couldn't. I did like it, though, and the writing was pretty spectacular because Hugo's vivid in her writing style.

I struggled to understand why Killian and Scarlet couldn't move past their own issues. I found Killian to be weak which is funny considering he's supposed to be a dominant man and of that lifestyle. He actually annoyed me to the point where whenever he was mentioned I found myself rolling my eyes. The disconnect between Killian and Scarlet really made me struggle to enjoy this story. I don't mind open marriages even if I don't ever see myself having one, but this not getting past the issue to have a real marriage drove me nuts.

Jericho and Scarlet kind of kept me reading the book. I liked their dynamic even when emotions weren't really supposed to be on the table. The trust between the two and the care was endearing. The sex between the two was hotter than the fiery pits of Hell and I was totally on board with that. Overall, if you're into the darker side of romance and erotic play then this is probably a good bet for you.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is a really intense read on a number of levels - I recommend it to you if you like a book which is dark, both erotically and plot wise. The story is cleverly developed, incorporates D/s and S/m in a complex story of kidnap, blackmail and a lot of pain. For Scarlet, Jerricho and Killian, we get to understand their background, their pain, their needs and eventually how everything inter links. It is quite hard to read at times, as it is graphic, both for 'good' pain and its sensual outcome, and not good pain, and it's harshness. It is difficult to believe that it is a love story, but it most certainly is. I was totally engrossed in this demanding tale, as I was reminded just how difficult life can be, and how the human need for love can win out.

Ms Hugo is a talented author, and most definitely deserves success with this fascinating novel.

I stretched this book as long as I could and I can't wait for Hugo's next book. I think Bought is the favorite out of all three. I just can't say enough wonderful things about this book. It will blow your socks off and leave you begging for more.

All of these characters are phenomenal. Oh my gawd are they phenomenal. It's so easy to fall in love and get comfortable with these characters. The sex and BDSM scenes are just….too amazing for words.

Hugo is an author I will happily keep coming back to over and over again.

Nicolette Hugo’s Unchained Vice series continues with Bought. I’ve loved the first two installments and eagerly anticipated the third. While they are loosely connected, each really is a standalone that can be enjoyed fully without prior knowledge of previous characters or events. Ten months ago, Scarlet Bailey’s life changed dramatically when she was kidnapped and held by a cartel looking to exploit her husband Killian’s shipping business. She came through anything but unscathed….but luckily, alive. Killian hasn’t been able to forgive himself for endangering his beloved wife. He simply cannot allow himself to take pleasure from her until his revenge is complete. Scarlet loves her husband deeply, but feels the rejection keenly. She needs to feel, to hurt…and she’s discovered solace in Dom for hire, Jerricho Black. Though theirs has always been an open sexual relationship, Killian feels a distinct discomfort with his wife’s choice of lover. He decides, however, to hire Killian for forty days to serve as her Dom and live in their home. Jerricho has secrets as well and needs the paycheck desperately. He vows to keep this job impersonal, but it’s next to impossible when Scarlet touches something deep inside him. He knows walking away from this relationship might be the hardest thing he’s ever had to do.
This series really has surprises at every turn and shows the author’s versatility. Bought is every bit as character driven as the first two installments, with really wonderful depth of emotion and character development, but the added aspect of suspense thrown in. It’s hard to get into too much detail without giving away important plot points. We get a number of flashbacks from each character. The changing POV is something I loved and it seemed to flow seamlessly here. Nicolette Hugo’s writing is descriptive and packed with heart-wrenching emotion. I cried no less than three times during the course of reading, and anyone that has had trouble connecting with a partner that they love deeply will be moved. I would also prepare to have your expectations tested. This is not a cheating book, even if the blurb might suggest so. The characters all understand and accept open sexuality and even love. There’s an HEA, as you would expect in erotic romance, but is completely different than I anticipated at the onset and even at 50% in. The sex is absolutely captivating, with Jerricho and Scarlet having a chemistry that’s off the charts. This is BDSM on the rough side, without apology and with an understanding that sometimes, real pain is what brings peace and clarity. I appreciated how organic the scenes were, how we don’t get a big show or explanation of the technical aspects of restraint. This isn’t BDSM 101 and no character needs to be indoctrinated into the world. There’s no protocol, no formality, and I loved that. It left much more time to explore these characters’ rollercoaster rides of emotion. I so want to say more about the sex….but I can’t! You’ll have to be surprised for yourself. I don’t think I blinked for 4 pages at one point. So unexpected and raw. The suspense aspect of the story was very well done and not without some gory bloodshed. Neither Killian nor Jerricho is a pristine character, and both operate somewhat above the law. Their gritty realities complemented each other well. I can see there being more story along the pipeline for these three characters, even if it’s in short novella form, as I really want to see more. This was definitely the darkest of the series, but completely new and welcome territory. Highly recommended.

So once again I'm faced with a new author. Nicolette Hugo... A name I will not be forgetting anytime soon! I loved the dark and taboo world that she seduced me into! From the very beginning I was hooked by the intensity and the intriguing way she presents the BDSM lifestyle. Now, this isn't my lifestyle so I have no clue about it, at all. However, the way she splays it out for the reader, has definitely piqued my curiosity and opened my eyes!

Scarlet was kidnapped 10 months ago, due to some shady dealings of her husband's. While she did sustain some disfigurement to her hand, she has long since healed physically. It's the emotional scars that are left behind. For her, physical intimacy is her way of healing and dealing with her emotions. However her husband, Killian, has withdrawn in this regard. Killian blames himself for what happened to Scarlet and believes that he is not worthy of her touch until he has righted his wrong...By seeking out the man responsible for her abduction and avenging his wife. Scarlet decides to arrange a meeting with a Dom for hire, hoping that he could give her the physical release she was so desperate for. Killian finds out about the encounter and knows that this is something his wife needs and hires the services of Jerricho Black for the next 40 days.

Jerricho has his own past that he is running from and is in desperate need of the money that Killian has offered to pay him for his services. Upon his arrival at the house he can tell that something is off between Killian and Scarlet and he questions just why he was hired. He begins to do what he was hired to do, figuring this would be just another job! But he soon realizes he won't be able to just walk away at the end of the 40 days! With every passing day Scarlet sinks deeper and deeper into his blood! Not to mention the intense relationship that builds between Killian and Jerricho.

I'll start off saying that usually m/m sex scenes are not my thing! However, the scenes that are written in this book are so erotic and intense you can't stop reading! In fact, all of the sex scenes are just so erotic and heart pounding, that you just can not look away. My one favourite scenes has to be at the dinner table! Yep! I said it!... At the dinner table! It's a physical exchange between Jerricho and Scarlet, but Killian is present and it's just so incredibly hot and intense! It's done so well...Like seriously, change your panties, well!
I absolutely loved everything about this book, the twists and turns, the kink and the compelling way in which it is all put together. I am a huge fan and will definitely be reading more of Nicolette's work!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved a good half of it and liked the rest but it felt a bit dull at the ending though the BDSM and sex parts were scorching hot.

The Story:
Even months after saving his wife, Killian is punishing himself for what happened to her by allowing himself no intimacy with Scar. He believes that he is not worthy of her and seeks revenge on her kidnapper.
Scar craves to be touched but since her husband keeps himself at distance from her, she finds herself submissive to Jerricho Black, Dom for hire.
Jerricho brings her over the edge and shows her a mix of pain and pleasure in a way she never experienced before.
When Killian finds out that his wife sleeps with another man, he isn’t angry at her betrayal because they always shared an open marriage, but he is disappointed that she didn’t tell him about it.
Killian hires Jerricho for 40 days and when Jerricho stands in front of Scarlet's door, she is surprised to see him there because she wanted to keep him out of his private life, and she is angry at her husband for bringing him into their house. Now Scarlet can’t decide whether to let him in or send him away. Should she give in to the desire and the dangerous game with Black or should she stop it before it’s too late?

Thoughts:
It’s really touching how much Killian loves his wife that he even hired another man for her. I felt his raw pain also when he found out that
At first I didn’t understand how Scarlet could hire and sleep with another guy but since it's mentioned that they have an open marriage, they were obviously used to it. Though it felt different this time and Killian was hurt by her doing even though he hired Black for her. I don't get why he was punishing himself though. Because she got kidnapped and hurt? That’s not his fault but he obviously believed that.

I was mesmerized in the beginning but the ending left me hanging. I give this book 4 Stars because it got kind of dull in the last few chapters. Like I mentioned in the beginning the sex scenes and also the BDMS parts were really hot and well written. I loved it. I just say 'bastinado' (though I am not into foot-play myself.)

Nicolette Hugo is a new to me author but this will be one of many I hope to read from her. I absolutely fell in love with Jerricho Black. His character was so intriguing, so conflicted, I couldn't get enough of him. He's an ex military doctor and a sadist, on the run after leaving Iran during the war. Fleeing his country, he finds himself taking on a helpless woman's debt as his own, during a drug cartel boat journey to Sidney. Having to pay off Dado and his men for his selflessness he finds being a Dom for hire is at least something he likes to do and can make the money to pay the Cartel debt. Scarlett, after being kidnapped by the cartel is living a life of misery. They took her finger and almost cut out her tongue. Her husband, Killian, arrives to save her life being shot in the process of the rescue. The story starts with them trying to recover from the ordeal they've both been through. Killian is blaming himself for Scarlett's injuries and capture. He continues to punish himself by not allowing intimacy with his wife. Scarlett needs touch, she needs affection and she seeks it by calling the number on the card she's been given. Jerricho Black, Dom for hire. Scarlett finds she's more than submissive, she's downright masochistic. Killian loves her enough to let her go to Jerricho for the dominance and affection she needs, they're no stranger to added people to their bed. The 3 of them together are off the charts chemistry! Turns out Scarlett and Killian have more in common with jerricho than needing his dominance, he owes the man that kidnapped Scarlett, the man he's paying off every week and Killian needs his revenge. The story is downright brutal at times, there's quite a bit of violence along with dominance but the characters show remorse and emotion enough to get me through it. I found them all written so well, their flaws and their strengths had me riveted to the story. Jerricho & Killian burned the pages up and Scarlett's submission was sublime. Absolutely a page turner cover to cover.

Bought is the third instalment of the Unchained Vices series by Nicolette Hugo. The stories are loosely linked but all stand strongly on their own. The Unchained Vices series takes an up close and personal look at the BDSM lifestyle and it is HOT, it is graphic and it is intense.

I guess I’m past that point of being able to say that I don’t really read erotic fiction because I have read quite a few for review now. It is still not my genre of choice and I still always go in a little hesitant, not knowing what to expect and knowing I have to keep an open mind. There have been times that I have found it hard to find or follow a storyline because it’s been more about the erotica than the characters.

The Unchained Vices series has definitely not left me with that problem. I’m not sure if it’s the BDSM element and trying to understand how it fits in with the characters that keeps me involved. I can almost see past the erotica to analyse the characters because it’s not as simple as I like pain or I like power. Hugo’s characters are complex and tortured so their stories take the forefront of the narrative for me.

Scarlet Bailey is kidnapped to ensure co-operation from her wealthy husband in shady dealings, through no fault of his own he is late and things go horribly wrong. His wife is further injured and he takes a bullet trying to save her. The two survive and surgery leaves Scarlet looking almost unblemished from the outside, but it leaves chasms between the two personally and emotionally.

We know that everyone deals with trauma and with grief differently, it’s part of what makes us all unique. Part of Scarlet’s coping method is touch so the fact that Killian has distanced himself from her physically is making the whole situation even harder to deal with. Scarlet ends up calling Dom for Hire Jerricho Black, figuring that if anyone can make her feel he can; and she gets a little more than she bargained for – they both do.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Scarlet Bailey and her husband Killian are both dealing with the aftermath of what happened 10 months ago. While Killian is punishing himself for not keeping his wife safe by not being intimate with her until he finds who kidnapped her, Scarlet is missing the intimacy of her marriage and
feels that hiring Jerricho Black, Dom for Hire, could give her the intimacy she craves. While Killian and Scarlet have shared lovers in the past, he is surprised because she didn’t tell him about Black. When Killian offers Jerricho a proposition, he knows he can’t refuse because it would mean he could pay his debt off and be free of the cartel. The cartel didn’t want to let him go because they could use his services as a doctor/surgeon but Jerricho would not do that, he just wanted to pay them and be free of his debt. After spending time with Scarlet, feelings were becoming more and
Jerricho knew it was time for him to leave. While Scarlet didn’t want him to leave and Killian wasn’t sure, Jerricho found himself drawn to Killian in a sexual way too.
Can Jerricho finish his time with Scarlet and Killian without losing his heart? Will Scarlet leave Killian to be with Jerricho? Will Killian let Jerricho live once he realizes just what is going on with the cartel? Wil they ever find out who was behind kidnapping Scarlet?
This is a really good story that will have you glued to every page just to find out what happens next. There is a lot going on in this story will all three main characters and it will keep you guessing.
This is a first for me from Nicolette Hugo and I can’t wait to read more from her.

4.1 Stars. Free book. This isn't my typical type of book. I'm not a fan of Dom/Sub. So I'm not sure why I got this other then it sounded interesting. From the start it kept me entertained. I could've lived without a lot of the sex and BDSM but even with that it was a good book. The author did a good job of unwrapping the characters for us. Scarlet was kidnapped and her husband Killian wasn't there to save her from harm. In the aftermath they both just try to continue on. After almost a year their coping just isn't working anymore. Jerricho is a man with his own secrets. Selling his services in order dig himself out of a world threatening to consume him. Killian loves his wife and will do anything for her. So he hires Jerricho to give her what he can't. What none of them anticipate is the connection they all form.

Why not 5 stars?
I would've liked more character development between all of them but especially Killian. For being so important to the story he isn't that involved. I wanted more between him and Scarlet. I even wanted more between him and Jerricho. We get a back story for Jerricho through flashbacks and a little is given on how Killian became wealthy but not much on Scarlet.

I'd read more by this author. This isn't a book I would've ever picked up if it hadn't been free but I'm glad I read it. Well done Ms. Hugo.

Five Simply Amazing Stars! This is the third book in the Unchained Vice Series but it can be read as a stand-alone novel. Scarlet was kidnapped ten months ago by the cartel because of her husband, Killan's shipping business. This dramatically changed both Scarlet and Killan's life especially sexually because he can not take pleasure until he seeks his revenge on the kidnappers. Scarlet then feels rejected so she feels the need to seek satisfaction elsewhere. Scarlet hires a Dom named Jerricho and when Killan sees this he hires him for 40 more days. Jerricho has his own secrets and he tries to keep this job impersonal but that is difficult to do with Scarlet. What will happen between the three of them, this is just something that you must read to find out! Ms. Hugo writes a fantastic story that takes you on a journey of suspense, hot romance, and plenty of twists and turns. I absolutely could not put this book down! This book has sexual aspects that deal with BDSM so be forewarn. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be reading the first two books in the series. Highly recommend it!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

Brought is book three in the Unchained Vice series by Nicolette Hugo. It can be read as a standalone with no prior knowledge of the first two books is needed but I can guarantee that after reading Brought if you haven't read The Arrangement or Exhibition you will.
Brought revolves around Scarlet, Killian and Jericho and their complex relationship which starts when Scarlets husband Killian, hires a Dom, Jericho for Scarlet for 40 days. So as you can imagine it'll get complicated especially with two dominant males. The characters have a lot of chemistry which is shown throughout as well as character development and by the end of the story you will probably want to live in this world or want to hire a Dom for yourself.
Once again as with The Arrangement and Exhibition, Ms Hugo has drawn me into her book with a brilliantly written, well executed plot that's full of twists and turns that'll keep you on the edge of your seat. The sex scenes are extremely hot and steamy that you may need a cold shower after reading.
This is another five star read that'll leave you wanting to know when Nicolette Hugo's next book is out and how can I convince my husband to let me hire out a Dom for 40 days.

Bought by Nicolette Hugo

Ha how do I sum up this book without giving anything away? I honestly don't know so please forgive me for the vague and relatively short review.

Jericho Black has a life he's running from. Something in his past has caused him to run and to keep on running. He's also now a Dom for hire and he's very very good at it!

Scarlet has been through one of the most horrific experiences and has felt her husbands distance a lot. She has this almost unmistakable desire to leave him but at the same time she loves him.

Killian does not want Scarlet to be unhappy however he's struggling himself. He wants to find the people who put Scarlet in such a horrific place.

The lives of these three people collide. Collide in one of the best ways imaginable! I love seeing it and experiencing that through this book.

Nicolette has found a new way of writing that I'm intrigued by. I'll be checking out some of her other books for sure!
