Sawson's Royal College #1

Captivated by Jax

Rate this book
Selena … The second our eyes connected for the first time, I knew my life would forever change. But I never anticipated how much. I fell for him, for the handsome, player and the enigma that is Jax. They say he doesn’t speak much, stays to himself, doesn’t trust anyone. But with me, with me he smiles, he laughs and he trusts. But sometimes that isn’t enough. Not when we are being dragged apart by what seems like everyone, not when too many secrets are kept and not when his dark life imposes on the light of our love.

Jax … When I first saw her, I knew she was different. I just didn’t know how. I didn’t know that she’d become as vital as the blood that runs through my veins. But sometimes that isn’t enough. Not when I can hurt her more than I can love her.

“I love you, Jax, even when I’m annoyed at you, I love you.”

This was a new adult contemporary romance story, which reminded me a bit of beautiful disaster.

Jax was a bit of a tormented character, but he really knew what he wanted when he saw Selena. Selena seemed to fall for Jax really quick, but it was obvious that the bet was going to cause problems for them.

The storyline in this was about the romance between Jax and Selena, but there was also a bet between Jax and his buddies that he couldn’t take her virginity, which meant that Selena was bound to be hurt when she found out about it. This book did remind me a bit of beautiful disaster though, in a good way, so I think that anyone who liked that would like this.

The ending to this was pretty good and we did get a happily ever after.

OMG.... THIS AUTHOR JUST BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE ONES BECAUSE SHE WROTE A GREAT BOOK! I love this book so much :’) arrgghh.... lol

THE HERO IS OTT POSSESSIVE ALPHA MALE! He gets jealous so much and very protective of the heroine. I LOVE THIS STORY SO MUCH :’)

THE HERO have been through a lot growing up in a bad household with his parents characters made him very bad. SO THE HERO have a hard time with the relationship and even dealing with his feelings.

WHEN THE HEROINE AND HERO MEET AT A PARTY THEY IMMEDIATELY FEEL THE PULL AND ELECTRICITY BETWEEN THEM!!!

- THE HERO SOMETIMES PUSH the heroine away because he was scared of the whole thing and he scared his parents find out about it and he scared of his own feelings for her. BUT NOT TOO MUCH...

- NO CHEATING

- IT HAS SEPARATION WHEN THE HEROINE find out that the hero was dating someone else when he was sleeping with her (ONLY SLEEP NOT IN A SEXUAL WAY) but soon when the hero goes home, HE ENDS THE RELATIONSHIP with that person. ALSO his ex was not very serious about him, like she was not serious and they have a open relationship and THE HERO DOES NOT FEEL ANYTHING FOR THE EX... Their relationship was a scam to make it good for their parents. SO I THINK THAT WHOLE THING was kinda okay? BECAUSE SOON AS HE KNOWS THE HEROINE REALLY MAKES HIM FEEL SO LOVED AND THE PULL WAS RIGHT, he end his last relationship immediately. AND THAT WAS BEFORE THE HEROINE AND HIM WAS OFFICIALLY DATING. And the whole sleep thing is because the heroine was helping the hero and made him sleep at her place.
(Sorry too much explanation)

THE SECOND TIME THEY SEPARATED is because the heroine found out that he made a bet on her BEFORE THEY WERE DATING AND THAT BET WAS WITH HIS FRIENDS. The hero thought the pull was nothing so he decided is okay to take the bet on her with his friends. BUT AS SOON AS THE HERO MADE THE HEROINE OFFICIALLY HIS, HE ENDS THE BET. The heroine found out about it in a sad way because the hero showed it in a bad way to her about it (he had to because he scared about his parents threats on her) SO THE HEROINE FOUND OUT AND END their relationship.

DURING THE SEPARATION BOTH NEVER with someone else. The heroine thought the hero was with someone else because she saw in front of her eyes that the hero made a scene with a girl (just to push the heroine away) and the scene was only he touching the waist and kiss the neck. JUST THAT. BUT IT WAS ALL FAKE.

- MANY JEALOUS SCENE FROM THE HERO

- HOT SMUT SCENES LIKE so hot lol

- THE HEROINE IS A VIRGIN

- THE HERO WAS A MANWHORE in the past BUT HE ALWAYS wear protection. And the hero was having sex with his ex when he first saw the heroine. So he was not celibate before he meet the heroine. But he said he got checked so it safe. ALSO THEY haven’t have sex at the first times they start going out and after they officially dated.

- NO EPILOGUE. Only 2 months and it was only what happened after the accident. I WANT TO SEE A FUTURE OF THIS COUPLE AND I NEED MORE BOOKS FROM THIS AUTHOR if this author makes more possessive alpha male like this :’) BUT THE EPILOGUE SHOWS THAT THE HERO WANTS TO MAKE THE HEROINE HIS WIFE. But only that :(

- ITS A COLLEGE LOVE STORY

- NO VIOLENCE

OVERALL THIS STORY was safe love story between two people who are very different. The hero loves the heroine so much because she changed him and THEY FEEL THE PULL THEY HAVE so he chase her. NOT TOO MANY ANNOYING things happened that will made you feel you want to punch someone. I like this story so much because the hero was very possessive and the heroine was very sweet and they never cheat and also IT SHOWS THE HERO FIGHT FOR HIS OWN FEELINGS because the way he grow up was not healthy situations surrounding him. He fights his own feelings of confusion and GOES FOR THE HEROINE AND GOES FOR LOVE...

Its kinda sweet to me personally to see someone as hard and as bad as the hero because of his past and his personality and the way he thinks. HE WAS SMART ENOUGH TO MAKE IT RIGHT WITH THE HEROINE IN THE END AND NEVER WENT TOO FAR WHEN HE WAS DOWN...

🌐🌐🌐➡️↘️⬇️➡️This is my own personal thoughts and opinion about the book so if thats not sit right with you or you feel I’m not being fair blablabla, please know that everybody in this world have their own different things that they like and don’t like. It may not be the same thing with you but thats okay because i am my own person and you cannot control me or tell me what to do. For example; i put ketchup (tomato sauce) on my fried chicken. You think that’s disgusting? For me its not and i’ve been eating it like that for many many years. You tell me to put another sauce and see if i like that better? I already did many many times in years but i still like the way i like it. It’s called differences between me and you and billions people in this world😊 be open minded😙 I respect people’s opinions about my opinions but in the end of the day if i say I don’t like it or i do like it, its up to me and its on me. And in the end of the day i always liked and show my respect to books and people’s opinions on books whenever that book is good or not good in my opinion 😊 Respect people’s opinions guys😙😙 I don’t want to write this down because its not really my thing to do it. To like address something like this when obviously i know the people who’s been reading my reviews many times and all the time, they are smart enough to understand and respect other people’s opinions no matter what their opinions on book or their point of view 😙😙 am i right? 💕 also there are people even though i already write “this book is different because i have my own taste of book” those people still comment my taste is this and that when HELLO… everybody have their own thoughts on books and what they want to read… why i read it then? I read it and give it a review because i have to read a book to give it a review… why not read the description book to understand before I’m going to read it? Hello just in case you haven’t notice, description books can be tricky because they write this amazing things about a book but turns out the story is so toxic. Maybe for me its toxic but not for you? YES HELLO THATS WHY US HUMAN BEING HAVE OUR DIFFERENCES, WHAT I LIKE IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU WILL LIKE IT AND EITHER WAY TOO. why i still write the review then if i just don’t like a book? Because I CAN and i want to, you cannot tell me what to do and not what to do🤪 if you still wants to be negative and be karens about my review on book after all of what i just write, i will never acknowledge you and simply ignore you because its not that hard🙏 ⬅️↖️↕️⬅️↩️⤴️

Book Generously Provided per Author in exchange for honest review.

Captivated by Jax is my first time reading Bella Anthony. I admit that I loved the blurb, I was definitely sold on the idea of a bad boy with emotional damage and the new "good girl" who would tame him. Of course I have read this scenario before, but it is of my fave plot themes, so I took a chance.

I will start by saying that this starts good. The characters, Jax and Selena caught my attention right away as did their interaction. I found a lot of positive in Selena as a very naïve but good girl who stood up for herself often and did not back down from a rich playboy. I do appreciate a confident female who is good-hearted.

Some of my issues with this read was that there was so much going on. So many aspects of each character with past events, present drama, and future plans were all shaping the story, but I cannot say that they flowed well or were expanded upon enough for smooth transitioning from scene to scene. Obviously this was primarily a romance between Jax and Sel, but then so many underlying themes seemed to cloud up that tale. There was a very "mean girls" type of vibe with the rich and entitled versus the hardworking, the contrast of good and bad behavior with pushing and pulling want, the whole transition of "growing up in college", an abusive back story that needed to be more forefront, and then a crazy twist of stalking and violence.

So yes, TONS going on, but I was able to follow along. I think some editing would have made the story richer and more emotionally engaging. There was quite a bit of repetitive wording...if I never read the word "baby" again that would be ok! I already appreciated the love story that was developing. There was plenty of lust and passion with raw erotic intimacy, I felt the constant terms of endearment just made what should have been hot a bit sugary and distracting. This author can bring the heat and deliver fabulous sex scenes...the wording wasn't always needed!

To keep it simple, I already appreciated the fall of a bad boy who was showed true compassion, support and love...all the other stuff was just overwhelming and maybe unnecessary.

Kids. It's a literary fact that if your dumb@$$ is gonna place a bet on the v*rg*nity of a gal, you will most definitely fall in love with said gal. And your life will be FUBAR (Effed Up Beyond All Recognition🤣), at least for a bit. I mean, 👀 THIS girl is totally here, with popcorn, for AAAAALLLLL of it... so, please, you do you, BOO, but can't say i didn't warn you. 🤷‍♀️😅

What I loved:

• sweet, funny, smart, down to earth h is a 20-year old college student who is saving her v-card for an all-consuming love. ❤️

• H is rich, cocky, manhoooaar college soccer player 😍 #alphaholesaremyjam

• Their attraction was intense very quickly ❤️

• He's super j/p from the beginning - he's obsessed 🤩, controlling 🤩, bossy 🤩, a bit of a bulldozer. 🤩🤩🤩

• she has a backbone - she pushes back enough that you aren't side-eyeing her, but not so much that you're rolling your eyes. 😍

• loads of smexxy times - the action starts pretty early in the book, but you don't get the full meal until midway. So, for me it was fastburn, but depends on your own definition. These kids are f*cking like rabbits throughout the last half of the book. #passthecranberryjuiceplease 🙈

• this book has aaaalll the drama. So, my soap-opera loving heart was doing the happy dance. OW drama, OM drama, family drama, jealous rages, jealous fights, breakups, makeups, hates-smexx, club scenes, kidnappings, panic attacks, submission f*cks, attempted sexual assault... I think we covered it ALL 😋😋 #yummyinmytummy #imadramahoooaar

• if you liked the After series by Anna Todd, this will likely be right up your alley. (That's ME 🙋‍♀️... I did! 🙋‍♀️I did! 🙋‍♀️) If you didn't, I'm gonna guess that you might not love this either. It's a standalone, so if that was your problem, then you'll be happy to know that all that drama was wrapped up in one book here. 😁

• The side characters are the kinds that you are looking forward to reading their books. I appreciate that. 👍

• dual POV - I didn't find his POV distracting or detracting. 🙌

• he calls her BABY... so much... the "baby" word count is 290 times. 😱🤣 ❤️❤️❤️❤️

What I didn't like:

• It gets pretty mushy-gushy pretty early in the book. He's still a controlling jealous @$$, which helped me stay interested, but the mush is way OTT, and increases as we go along. 😬 #enoughwiththeickylovestuff

• some of the conflict was a bit contrived to me and the reasons behind some of the secrets and intentional lack of communication didn't really make sense and were never fully explained

• The setting (outskirts of Los Angeles) didn't seem to quite jive with some word choices. It almost felt like they were in Europe somewhere. I found it distracting. It made me think maybe the author isn't from the states, but I could be wrong.

• the H is a soccer player, but its not mentioned much... in fact, I was surprised to find out this fact in the last 20% of the book. That doesn't make a lot of sense for a college athlete. Their sport would take up a significant amount of time outside of class. I would have liked some more of this aspect included.

• this very much felt like a first book to me, but I think if that's the case, the author did a very good job. I am impressed.

• this guy is completely obsessed with being the h's one and only. He's very MINE MINE MINE... which makes the lack of backdoor action stand out... just saying. 😬🤷‍♀️

• the intensity of their connection is fast and a little abrupt to me. I would have liked to see more build up. They go from seeing each other across the room at a party to Romeo and Juliet level obssession and emotional connection within a few days. I needed more.

Bottom Line? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed this book. I've already downloaded book 2

⚠️For the Safety Squad⚠️

• no cheating

• no sharing

• OW drama - he's in a half-hearted relationship of convenience with a gal who his parents want him to marry, when the book takes off. She's a witch... he isn't interested in her at all, beyond infrequent hook-ups... he breaks it off with her early, and she pops up occasionally but isn't really a focus of the book.

• there's a bit of coersive smexx, but it never truly crosses the line to dubcon, IMO

Re-read :)

5- I- need-jax-stars!

Wow, okay so I'm so happy I stumbled upon this book!
I loved loved it! It's a college romance and such a good one!
Selena is starting at a new college where she meets Jax. Jax is quiet, brooding type of alpha-male. But still, so so hot!
There's some drama surrounding these two in terms of Jax's ex girlfriend, his parents, and a few more things.
What I did find so refreshing about this book is that there was no slut shaming (thank god), the heroin is actually super funny and likeable! And Jax *** swooooon *** he's definitely alpha, but so so hot! This would should be for those above the ages of 18 for sure due to sexual content.
I'm also so happy that I can feel the love between these 2, some parts have me shivers!
Also, I loved sel and Isabels relationship! It reminds me of so many friendships I have :)
Also, I'm dying to know if there's a next book for Sebastian and Isa ?!
I would for sure suggest reading this book :) it has the perfect amount of angst, no cheating (thank god), and you'll love both characters :)
It kind of reminds me of the falling away series or the more than series! (Which I love love)

Oh the only thing I didn't like was the fact the author didn't describe how Sebastian or Isabel or alayna looked (the secondary characters) which made it hard for me to envision the scenes, but oh well, it didn't dampen the experience for me too much

If you are looking for a Alpha type male, Rich, with a sad childhood and a women who is everything different that wants to 'save him' than you have found the right book. I know it is my type of book!! FYI: No Cliffhangers!
Jax is rich with parents that don't have an emotional attachment to him and they have even drugged him some to get him to do things their way. Although the father is the more the aggressor and the mom just does nothing, speaks harshly to Jax even when Jax tries to help her when his father turns on her. So Jax has fallen into a party mode and just goes from girl to girl with a main 'girlfriend' that her and his parents want them to make a match. So this 'girlfriend' is doing the same thing going from guy to guy. But at a party Jax notices a girl Selena who seems so different then any of them. Jax is drawn to her and some of his friends bet him to take Selena virginity for a bet. Jax and her go to the same college as they are bound to see one another but Jax does go forward with with meeting her again. Selena is also drawn to Jax and not sure at first what he wants with her. Selena knows of his reputation and doesn't understand why he would single her out. Jax quickly starts to see the Selena is a nice, caring person and has more compassion for him in one day than his parents had his whole life. This puts Jax in a protective, possessive mode with Selena but even with those feelings Jax has a hard time dealing with a real caring relationship.
There is some drama/action and the secondary characters are great! I really did enjoyed this book and hope there is a second book with Seb and Bella (Isa) (secondary characters).

I loved the premise, but the writing was mediocre. The verbiage felt awkward and forced.

Selena is a scholarship student. She is entering this prestigious college as a junior. She has a BFF, Isa, who is rich while Selenae comes from a middle class family.
Jax first meets Selena after he had sex with some girl, Stacy. Jax was also snorting coke at this party.. Jax saw Selena dancing and from there he knew he wanted her. Jax’s friends make a bet with him that he won’t have sex with Selena before the semester is over. Well you guessed it, Jax falls in love with Selena, they have sex, and Selena finds out about the bet. However, there is a secret that Jax is keeping and he won’t tell Selena.

This could have been so much better, but the writing did not flow. I love plots were bad boys are tamed by good girls, but the execution was weak.
The switch in POVs was too frequent.
When Selena found out about Jax, her reaction was predictable. There was nothing that took your heart and tore it apart.

This is my opinion. Reading is subjective. You may love it.

Amateur author vibe, I couldn’t get into the story due to the odd writing style.. Reads like a college cartoon written by a 15yr old girl.
Of course book didn’t have character development whatsoever.

H is a huge slut, and does hard drugs -like coke.
He’s basically slept with every female in their school and has a gf - h’s nemesis.
His obsession with the h is so insta that it’s cheesy and contrived.
And the h could read the pain in his eyes the second time she saw him.😂😂 Mind you, their convo lasted 3 mins total.

h is a Mary Sue. She farts rainbows, and she’s super special because she’s a virgin. 🙄
Her virginity is talked about constantly, so this should be a hit with all the virgin h obsessed fans.

Cornfest though. 😦Free on KU.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

He who has a why to live, can bear almost any how.  - Friedrich Nietzsche

Selena got accepted at Sawson's Royal College thru scholarship in her junior year, joining her highschool friend Isa. She grew up looking for the love her parents have, who are very much inlove with each other.

Then she met Jackson "Jax" Reiss, a fucked up boy with a fucked up rich family. He has an abusive father and a constantly high mother. He doesn't trust anyone and thinks people only get close to him because they need or want something from him.

When they first met, everything sizzles!

I got hooked with the story! There are lots of things I may not like about the story but it was still exciting enough for me to continue. The sexual tension between the two is definitely something. And the making love scenes are the bomb! I have been kept waiting for the big act and I was not disappointed.

Every second we don’t kiss, seems like a prelude to a kiss. Every moment in his vicinity feels like foreplay.

Jax is an alpha male and a roaring caveman with a tendency to get hot and cold, but is definitely a softie inside. His possessiveness at times is so overwhelming, but hey it worked for me. I feel for his character because of the things he went through since he was child.

I found Selena to be sometimes too immature and also are the reasons of their pitfalls or their fights. Some conversations feels like it is appropriate in high school setting complete with the mean girls and cliques.

Even though there are those downsides in the story, I was still anticipating for the ending. This book was the author's debut novel, it may be still a little rough around the edges but there is definitely a promise. I can't wait to read Isa's story which will be the next book in the series.

Let me start off by saying I did not finish this book. There were a combination of issues that dissuaded me from continuing on.

First, a thorough editing of the story is needed. There were missing words, misspelled words, and run on sentences. There was also lots of repetitiveness. It is repeatedly made clear that the h is a scholarship student and when the H first sees the h he repeatedly looks her up and down. There were whole paragraphs and sentences I was rewriting in my head because of the awkward word arrangement.

Second the only way I can describe the dialogue is unbelievable. I really think the author was trying to take the high road when the h and the "mean girls" were arguing but do 20 year old girls really argue like that?

Example:

“Who invited the trash of our college?” Stacy breaks the trance as she steps in front of Isa and I. Accompanying her are the two girls who were at the gym last time as well. Really? The mean girl has minions? Can this get any more cliché?

"We’re not trash darling, we are independent strong women who don’t care about anyone else’s opinions. Right Isa?” I say giggling, really not caring about what anyone says about us.

“Aww, are you finally understanding that you and your $ 20 dresses don’t belong with us?” Stacy remarks as she reads the angry expression on my face.

"No, what I’m understanding is that you’re a pretentious girl who thinks she’s better than everyone else. What? Just because you have money? Having money says nothing about your character.” I actually try reasoning with her. What a joke.

Third, and this is a personal preference, I am not into books where the main characters use drugs. As soon as the H was snorting coke I was ready to put the book down. This is a huge turn off for me.

These are only my opinions and do not say anything about the author.

Isa and Selena are 2 best friends who start at one of the most elite colleges out there. They are judged, especially Selena, for coming from a humble home. The mean girls at school, led by Stacey, do what they can to try to ridicule them, but to no avail.
One night at a party, Selena gets carried away dancing and catches Jax eye. Jax is Stacey’s on and off boyfriend. Jax turns to drugs, alcohol and sex to try to numb himself for the pain he feels for coming from a home with 2 abusive parents who don’t hesitate to put their hands on him. Jax doesn’t know how to cope with his feelings for Selena and is confused by her kindness. Stacey reveals to him and his friends that Selena is a virgin and his friends desire to bet that Jax is able to deflower before the year is over, and he accepts. But as he spends time with her, he falls in love more and more, although he doesn’t tell her but he does everything to show her. Selena doesn’t stand a Chance and falls in love with Jax’s attention and caresses.
Jax is incredibly possessive, jealous and protective, yet very sweet and cuddly with her. But that doesn’t stop him from making Selena suffer.
A good story and the sex scenes are🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

“It says ‘He who has a why to live, can bear almost any how.’ It’s a quote by Nietzsche. I never had a why, so I was, I am the way I am. But now, I think I’ve found my why Selena and you,” he says, turning my face to look at me, “you’re it. You just … need to talk to me. This is all new to me. I’ve never done this before. I don’t know what to do, what to say, how to act. So you need to tell me when I fuck up. Last night, I fucked up by letting my past dictate my actions. Tonight, I blocked you out and was half way to dropping you home when I decided to fight my past. I don’t want to be like that anymore, not when I’ve finally found my ‘why’. You just need to give me time, okay baby?”

“Listen to me Sel. I won’t and will never apologize for doing something to protect you. Emotionally or physically. I knew you wouldn’t like the fact I hadn’t ended things officially with Stacy before you and I had, what I perceive, an incredible night. Cause baby, I care about nothing in this world but you and me. I refuse to allow anyone to harm or upset you. I refuse to let anything drive us away from each other. So I won’t apologize for not telling you. And you might as well get used to it cause I’ll always put you first and try to keep the ugly from your life. The ugly that tries to drive us away from each other.”

“Let go of me Jax.” I say between my sobs. “No, not like this. Let me fix this, let me fix us.” He whispers desperately. “Jax, right now, your touch is hurting me more than anything, so I’m begging you, let me go.” I cry out. He immediately retreats, dropping me so I can stand. He backs away, swallows heavily as he takes in what I said. “I’ll give you time Sel, but I’m not giving up.” “Don’t bother, Jax. You’ve already lost me.” He yanks his hair so hard, it’s as if he’s trying to rip it off. He looks destroyed. I look down and rush out of the elevator.

“Let me tell you something Selena.” He says furiously. “If I see a man trying to kiss my woman, you better fucking believe that I’ll hurt his sorry ass! And one more thing baby, if a man allows that shit to happen to his woman without retaliation? That makes him a pussy. Do I look like a pussy to you? No one kisses you, no one touches you, but me!” He shouts. “This Selena, this is the outside influence that will be the end of us. So we are going the fuck home!”

“Let me tell you something. Every inch of you belongs to me. And until you say it and scream my name so the whole fucking party knows who you belong to, you aren’t going to come. So I’ll ask you again. Who do you belong to?”couldn’t take it anymore. His thrusts were ruthless; going deeper than he ever has before. There’s something unbelievable, carnal and erotic about being completely naked, at the mercy of Jax, who’s fully dressed, and taking me as hard as he wants to. I couldn’t take it anymore, I’ve never felt so alive in my life and I needed to come. “You! You! I belong to you!”

“Jax!” I shout, half annoyed. “Seriously? You basically moved me in with you!” “Baby, cut the crap, you’ve slept over here everyday for two months, I just kept getting more of the things you needed until … well now you’re all moved in.” He says, coming behind me to kiss my neck. “Ugh, couldn’t you have asked? Like a normal boyfriend?” He chuckles. “Sel, asking would indicate that there’s an option, and just to clarify, there’s no option.

I look around and I see a group of about maybe twenty girls looking at me, evidently examining my appearance.

The start of this book, I mean the first chapter itself was sort of boring, it was literally about two best friends Isabel and Selena settling into their lavish college dorm. Lavish?! There were snobby students everywhere, the other students looked at Selena and started berating her because Selena wasn't dressed like them, it's college after all and who studies right? It was boring, to say the least then in the second chapter we meet with Jay the resident brooding bad boy and man whore. After a couple of chapters their romance started, and it became increasingly repetitive the one word that came out the most was possessive and demand. After a certain time their loving relationship became too smothering, suffocating and cagey for me, most of the time they are in the apartment and then to class, there is not much there. Thank god the side characters are interesting and have much more depth than these two.

"Oh screw that. Never let people make you feel inferior." She shouts dramatically while laughing.

Jax was portrayed as someone who had a rather turbulent past and Selena on the other hand was gifted with loving parents, see the difference in characterization. I don't well that was all about the characters and the other aspects are as I mentioned but it didn't left a lasting impression on me. There were some turns in the novel but mostly it was played safe and was actually very suffocating to say the least, they were like holed up in one place all the time. And there was nothing much going on even the twist in the story was solved and dissolved away so easily, Jax had years of trauma and just like that the problem was solved with the help of his friend and all. Nothing much here, there was one big fight between Selena and Jax but nothing else. This book was mostly guilty pleasure and nothing else to me.

"He views you as a best friend. You told me before you've never received kindness. But maybe it's because you've always believed that everyone has an ulterior motive towards you, that you never saw Seb's intentions. The guy's always there for you, and for no other reason than to be your friend.

The writing was very simple, it was written in Selena's first person point of view and the book also needed good editing. Sometimes a good story line can always be carried forward, everyone can try to write but still some extra work is always required in order to produce something worthwhile. Story wise it was very basic but the characters behaved mostly like as if they were stuck in high school or their brain growth has stopped at a certain level, I mean college student can't be that vain! I was turned off by Selena and Jax but I did enjoy Seb and Bella's relationship, it was more interesting to me. That being said, the book is very simple and mostly there is not much in it other than Jax and Selena's romance, there are like two small twists and nothing else. I read at my own risk but I wasn't captivated by Jax at all. Hope the best for others.

5 stars!!! So so good!

I got recommended this book and I have no regrets reading it despite the lack of reviews!

This story is about a girl who meets a tormented boy and essentially, changes his life. What I like is that I can see why Jax loves Selena, in so many books, I’m like “okay, but what makes her special to you” and this one, I love how much she actually changed his life.
And Jax, damnnnn he’s book boyfriend material, so hot, protective, definitely alpha but most importantly so so inlove with Sel.

“Your lips, your eyes, your hips. I know every inch of you. What more do you want than to etch yourself so deeply within my mind that there’s no way out?” He says more softly.
He leans down to kiss me gently, tasting my upper then lower lip with his tongue.
“What more do you want than to be the sweetest lips I’ve tasted?” He says kissing me again.
“The softest skin I’ve touched?” He strokes my arms.”
Jax, will make your heart race, let me tell you, I want my own Jax! This book will make you laugh, it will make you feel for Jax so much, and it will make you feel for the friendships and love that surrounds the characters.

Jax wants to protect Sel at all costs, which causes some issues:

“I refuse to allow anyone to harm or upset you. I refuse to let anything drive us away from each other. So I won’t apologize for not telling you. And you might as well get used to it cause I’ll always put you first and try to keep the ugly from your life. The ugly that tries to drive us away from each other.”
There’s no cheating, no love triangle, and a beautiful love story! This author definitely got a follower from me! Now this is a good NA contemporary book!

“None of it matters baby, not when you’ve consumed my entire being. This Sel? Us? We’re not done baby, not by a long shot.

I received this book in return for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, I read it in less than a day. It hooked me in and kept me entertained and wanting more.

Set at an up market college, Selina is starting her junior year as a scholarship student. Sharing with her bff Isobel, she soon becomes targeted by a group of super rich and beautiful girls, mainly due to her scholarship but also due to Selina's model like looks. Despite her obvious good looks, which Selina doesn't relay on, she studies hard and her character is a written as a genuine, nice, caring person unlike Stacy who is the epitome of a 'mean girl'.

Jax the male lead is strong, handsome, rich and troubled. When Isabel and Selina head to a party, they let loose, dancing and having fun. Unlike the highly strung rich girls they stand out, snd the second Jax's see's Selina he wants her.

What follows is at times a raw and imperfect tale of rich boys bets, emotional and physical abuse, and most importantly falling in 'obsessive all consuming love'.

At times I though Jax was a little too domineering and i certainly thought he crossed the line into worrying controlling behaviour, however, I was pleased that the author addressed this issue and it was dealt with relatively well. I really hope the author right a follow up with Isobel and Sebastian, I would love to hear what happens with them.

I'm so glad I read this book! It had all the things I want in a H. This H was OTT caveman stalkerific. It has been so long since I read a H that fits all the criteria that is on my H wish list. And the sex, oh, this book had some great sex scenes. Not only do we get a fantastic possessive H but he can't keep his hands off the h. I thought the bet would be the focus of the story but it was resolved pretty quickly.

There were some things I didn't like. I'm not a fan of a H that whores around and does drugs. Granted this is before the H starts dating the h. Also don't like it when the H pushes the h away, especially, when it is done in an extremely hurtful manner. I think the h forgave him too easily. I would have liked her to make him work for it.

I will definitely be reading the next book about the h's BF. Not too happy that the H is a super manwhore.

I think that most people would give this book a five because the sexual explosion that emanates from Jax and Selena is off that charts. So, even though this book was a raging inferno, I actually wanted less sex and more substance. Don't get me wrong; it was an amazing plot idea. It was suspenseful and loved seeing how Sel is able to awaken the light inside of Jax. I loved the friendship between Isa and Sel and how they were able to endure anything that happens as long as they have each other. But I also need to say, Jax got on my nerves from time to time with all his controlling behavior, but I also realize knowing his life, he needed that control. But overall, good book about love, life, and happiness.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Selena is the sweet small town girl on scholarship at an elite college. Jax is the hot rich playboy on campus with a slew of emotional issues. Selena and Jax's paths cross and the moment they see one another things begin to heat up. This is a definite must read if you like broken intense men, suspense in the plot, hot scenes and consuming relationships. This was a book that I could not put down. There are those pesky grammatical errors and spelling mistakes that annoy people otherwise this would have been a 5 in my book. There is no cliffhanger and I hope that Sebastian will get his own book next...please.

Deep And Crazy!

I was captivated for sure, between the crazy banter, intensity of the attraction and possessive love between Jax and Selena. Awesome, is strong enough to describe this book.

Genre: NA

Rich asshole man-skank meets 20 yr old virgin. About as original as it sounds. Very amateur hour writing.
