Smoldering. Hot. A fiery inferno of sexiness. Kate Meader continues to give her readers what they demand and that is an explosive romance that will have you burning up. Sparking The Fire was absolute perfection. This book alone will set the roof on fire and have you ringing the alarm as Kate Meader sets ablaze a love story that will have you begging for more of Wyatt Fox and Molly Cade.

photo 0ee983b1b8e59f6510ccc73a726287_zps03zzkcyr.gif “Wyatt Fox. It suited him. Clean, masculine, not a syllable wasted. Like James Bond, if 007 included cowboy-marine-firefighter in his stable of personae. Fox. Wyatt Fox. License to thrill— and send your panties plummeting.”

Sparking The Fire is the third installment of Hot In Chicago Series and can be read as a standalone but I highly advise you to read the previous two books so you can understand the family dynamic of the foster siblings that makes up the tight-knit Dempsey clan. Wyatt Fox, the eldest sibling who is known to be the quiet one. The one that is lurking in the shadows and who is never in the spotlight that is until Kate Meader demanded our full attention on Wyatt Fox.

photo 0ee983b1b8e59f6510ccc73a726287_zps03zzkcyr.gif “He wanted to run his bearded jaw over all that silky softness. Watch the gooseflesh pleasure -prickle her skin. Hear her throaty moans, the memory of which he’d used as spank bank material for a year after their affair.”

#SparkingTheFire1

Molly Cade is in production to work on a film that is loosely based on Wyatt’s sister, who happens to be a female firefighter. When Molly arrives to meet the firefighter who will be helping and consulting on the film, Molly is shocked to learn that Wyatt Fox will be the one that she will be consulting with. It turns out many years ago, Molly and Wyatt had a fiery sexual relationship. So what happens when the past and present collide?

photo 0ee983b1b8e59f6510ccc73a726287_zps03zzkcyr.gif “Kissing her was like realizing that your world until now was monochromatic . Color sparked behind his eyelids and traveled all over his body, setting off mini-explosions of bliss. Some guys didn’t bother to take the time, but Wyatt loved kissing. Loved the build . Loved that deep, wet connection, and how it mimicked what would come later when he drove into her hot, slick heat.”

The answer to that question is simple. Sparks fly as lust, passion, and raw emotions ignite old memories and awaken new sexual desires. As Wyatt and Molly dance around their feelings for one another, one thing is for certain. A flood of protectiveness and an explosion of sexual tension was ready to be lit. And let’s just say, Kate Meader will have you ringing the alarm and calling 911 as e-readers will be overheating due to all the sexy, dirty, titillating, and sizzling steamy scenes. Yes, ovaries will be exploding and you can thank Wyatt Fox and of course, Kate Meader for that.

#SparkingTheFire2

photo 0ee983b1b8e59f6510ccc73a726287_zps03zzkcyr.gif “Falling in love with you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Falling is easy. Staying that way is hard. But I’ve been choosing hard all my life, so why the hell would the life I make with the woman who completes me be any different? I love you like a madman. You’re the air I breathe, my next heartbeat, and I’m never letting go.”

Sparking the Fire was a culmination of utter brilliance and perfection. Kate Meader did her job. She held readers like myself hostage with her stunning and sizzling prose. Every detail, raw emotions, and relatable characters were beautifully and flawlessly incorporated into this book to give readers a love story that was unforgettable. I will say this once again. This book. This author. This series. Is everything that you would want in a contemporary romance as Kate Meader has written a story that had heart, second chances, love, family, and new beginnings. So if you are ready to get HOT IN CHICAGO and meet the Dempsey clan especially Wyatt, then get ready to be doused with a whole lot of sexiness.

Sparking the Fire is book three in the Hot in Chicago series by Kate Meader. I love this series so much. I’ve had this book waiting to read for awhile now and I FINALLY got to it. It was everything I hoped for and more. Wyatt is the broody, grumpy brother and I can’t wait for you to meet him.

Wyatt Fox is thirty four years old and is the quietest of the Dempsey siblings. He prefers to remain in the shadows, forever vigilant to protect the people he loves. His only blood brother was Logan who lost his life along with his foster father years before. Wyatt is a former marine and is now a firefighter with Engine 6 along with his siblings. Wyatt has recently injured his shoulder which has kept him out of service for awhile which put him as first choice when a technical advisor was needed for a local movie shoot.

Molly Cade is twenty nine years old and is a huge box office actor who has had a very bad year. She is in Chicago to shoot a firefighter movie with Wyatt’s sister as the inspiration for her character. Molly is hoping that this movie will redeem her and show the world what she is capable of. When the firefighter they had scheduled as their advisor suddenly couldn’t make it, she is shocked to see who shows up in his place!

Molly and Wyatt have a past. They actually met five years prior and spent six steamy nights together. It was before Molly was a movie star and before Wyatt was a firefighter. Six nights, no names, only pleasure. Only now, here they are, face to face once again!

Two people with lives that couldn’t be more opposite. With complications that should have them both running in the opposite directions. But that pull between them, that chemistry, that connection, keeps them in place and keeps pulling them closer. Until it becomes impossible to walk away. At the same time, Molly is pulled into the embrace of the entire Dempsey clan and she experiences the magic of their family.

This book was full of so much emotion, so much love, and so many smiles. Wyatt’s brother Gage is hilarious. I read his novella awhile ago and had forgotten just how funny he was. The closeness between all of the siblings just makes my heart so warm and fuzzy. These two have plenty of struggles in their paths. The question is, is what they share strong enough to help them navigate their way? I hope you’ll decide to read this to find out.

Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

Kate Meader is fast becoming a favorite of mine. This is the second book I've read by this author and I'm completely captivated by her easy humorous writing style. I wish I had more time, I'd lock myself up and go on a Kate Meader reading spree.

Five years ago a man and a woman had one week of anonymous sexual bliss that left both of them with a whole lot of regret that it didn't go any further...but they both had places to be, things to do and the stars just didn't align so they both thought of the other as the one that got away.

She wore that dress, was the barometer by which he had measured every woman in the last five years, and she had the 411 on cars? Someone up there hated his guts.

Molly Cade's star rose fast in Hollywood when she met her now ex-husband. And it fell just as fast after nude pics of her leaked and caused a scandal. With this new movie about a woman in a male dominated profession she wants to rise back up into the elite of Tinseltown. The one thing that would make her movie perfect is having Alexandra Dempsey's point of view since she is the person it is actually about. Having done her research she knows she has to go through the Dempseys from Chicago who have a reputation of being fiercely protective of their family.

Former Marine, now firefighter Wyatt Fox, the silent and broody Dempsey, has received an assignment by his cap which he doesn't look forward to. His expertise is needed for a Hollywood movie about a female firefighter in Chicago. He'd rather be doing his job but his last gig left him with a sore shoulder. That this movie is supposed to be based on his sister's story doesn't really entice him either. At least that's what he is telling himself.

That was the problem with magnets. Attraction wasn't a choice.

When Molly is introduced to the hunky, beautiful guy who is supposed to be her tech consultant on set she immediately recognizes the hot Marine she met five years ago and had a week of sexual bliss with.

"Hey, do you guys...know each other?"
"Depends on your definition of know."
"We had some mutual interests once," Wyatt said, a pagan gleam in those blue gray eyes. "Bars. Shakespeare." Sexy pause. "Elevators."

Molly stands for everything Wyatt tries to avoid. He is a loner and the Dempsey who stays in the shadows, protecting what's his, and fiercely so, from the sidelines. He is deeply private, a straight shooter and bossy. He has always felt he didn't belong, like the odd one in the boisterous Dempsey bunch.
This feeling of inadequacy comes from his family history and is the reason for him to give the stage to his siblings. Even though he doesn't show it he cares deeply and it was a pleasure to see how Molly enabled him to bring his feelings to the forefront. The flirty side of him and his dry wit are delicious because they often come out unexpectedly.

"You planning to glare me into orgasm, Marine?"
"I don't glare. I smolder."

Molly is a sassy, smart young actress, burned by the media and her ex. She knows that her and Wyatt's lives don't mix. The reality of it and the constant reminder by the media make her regret a little that she can't be the private person he would need and deserve. Wyatt knows exactly what Molly needs as long as his caveman doesn't surface. Then all bets are off.

The banter between these two is hilarious and delicious - I have marked so many quotes on my Kindle. It's a trademark of Kate Meader that she knows how to write amazingly witty and clever dialogues. She also puts her stamp on the chemistry between her main protagonists, which is explosive and will leave your ovaries in a tangle. Molly and Wyatt's love story is a slow burn but once they ignite...holy sh...

"Babe, you deserve better than a quick fumble.
"She scoffed. "Quick? Ha! You are slower than a snail on top of a turtle. I've never met a guy who takes his time like you do"

I loved Molly and Wyatt together, they completed each other, loved how they tore each other's walls down, little by little. The diva 'tude doesn't faze this hunk of a firefighter and since it isn't over the top it didn't keep me from liking Molly. But the star of this book? Definitely Wyatt.

All the characters, main and secondary, are really well fleshed out. The side cast is pretty amazing and I'm going to read Ms. Meader's backlist as soon as I have room for it. Gage is my favorite and it doesn't hurt that he is gay!

There is no question that this author can write. I'm a huge fan.

"Falling in love with you was the easiest thing I've ever done. Falling is easy. Staying that way is hard. but I've been choosing hard all my life, so why the hell would the life I make with the woman who completes me be any different? I love you like a madman. You're the air I breathe, my next heartbeat, and I'm never letting go."

I want my very own firefighter...consultant... to "consult" me on (ahem) personal **cough* I mean, professional things... lol This story was super sexy. Especially with how Wyatt and Molly meet. /fans self. Though the plot threw me a bit with the intro of a new family member for Wyatt, he and his sibs did just fine in accepting the change. The reasons for these two not to bring their relationship forward in the beginning didn't really hold water for me, but they made up for it by being totally hot together so I'll forgive them :-p I liked these two individually. Their characterization was done well with unique traits that made them relatable. The secondary characters were detailed and distinct as well and I enjoyed getting caught up with previous couples from the series. They added a well rounded feeling to this world Ms. Meader created. All in all this was a sexy read that I devoured in one sitting. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing though h's ex causes some drama. MCs met briefly years before and see other people in their time apart. They were not in a relationship and were not in love at that time. No rape/abuse.

He’d thought he could control himself around Molly, yet every second in her presence loosened the granite hold on his emotions one more slippery, dangerous inch.

That's it! Stick a fork in me, I'm done! I am a pile of dead and melted goo, all at the hands of a broody, silent, former Marine turned firefighter. I would like my headstone to read that my ultimate demise came from the hottest BILF I've ever read, and I regret nothing. NOTHING.

What's a BILF you ask?
She poked him in the chest. “Drunk, sober, any state, I would be doin’ you tonight, Mister. Lucky. That’s what you are. A total BILF.”
“BILF?”
“Beard I’d like to fuck.”

When I'm in a book funk, I know all I need is 5 minutes with a Kate Meader book and I'll have an instant goofy grin on my face and the worst case of blue ovaries known to man kind. Why? Because the woman writes some of the best alpha heroes and I can't get enough of it!

So what happens when a silent and socially awkward firefighter that likes to stay in the shadow of his infamous foster siblings meets a woman that's in the very center of the spotlight? A. Whole. Lot. Of. Awesome.
Their lives did not mesh. She was Hollywood designer duds. He was Chicago Dumpster diving. And he wanted her more than his next breath. But since when in hell had he ever gotten anything he wanted?

Wyatt Fox is the quietest one of his siblings, the unassuming one, the one that sticks to himself. But for six nights years ago, he let his inhibitions fly with a woman that left him in the dust but he hasn't stopped thinking about since.

Molly Cade is used to the media attention, but after an ugly divorce brought her on the wrong end of public scrutiny, she's hoping the new movie she's starring and producing will turn things around on her. Little does she expect that the new CFD consultant on the movie set is none other than the man that she never expected to see again. Suffice it to say that sparks fly and fires are set!
Sparking The Fire is written in Meader's signature sassy style with plenty of sexy and a whole lot of banter which I've come to be addicted to.
She placed her palms on his shoulders. “You planning to glare me into orgasm, Marine?”
“I don’t glare. I smolder.”

I am head over ovaries in love with this series. I'd set my house on fire just to get my very own Wyatt Fox to come over and put out my fire...uhem.

The romance is full of sizzle and spark, and just enough sexual chemistry to set your kindle on fire. I loved the back and forth between Molly and Wyatt. The odds are stacked against them and they're complete opposites, but yet they can't stay away from each other.

Molly was absolute perfection. She's sassy and funny and doesn't let anything get her down. She has a backbone but still has this perfect amount of vulnerability to make her incredibly endearing. As for Wyatt? Wowza! I'm all about the BILF.
Nothing had ever felt this good. No one had ever felt this good. It had always been her.

If you haven't read this series, you're seriously missing out. If you haven't read anything by this amazing author, you're seriously missing out. And if you haven't made plans to meet Wyatt Fox, then you're SERIOUSLY missing out!

Kate Meader is going to spoil me with her awesomeness soon, but you won't hear a peep of complaint out of this reader.

SPARKING THE FIRE, Book 3 in the Hot in Chicago series, is Wyatt's story. Wyatt Fox is the eldest, mysterious, low-key, prone-to-squinting Dempsey. He's a calming force, not one for letting his temper get the better of him (like, uh, ALL the other Dempseys), and he has a secret. Strange overnighters away from Chicago which he's very close-lipped about. More hints are given in Alex's story, PLAYING WITH FIRE, but you won't find out what's up with Wyatt until September 2016. His heroine will be an awesome combo of strong and vulnerable, and will bring out Wyatt's protective instincts, cultivated by years in the Marines. I can't wait to share them with you!

A tantalizing sexilicious story with a flowing story line, witty banter, a to-die for surly hero and lively superstar heroine. A contemporary romance you won’t want to miss.
“She might have made her mark on his body, but he had branded his on her soul.”

Once upon a sultry summer night Molly Cade was an unknown theater actress who had a torrid one week anonymous affair with a marine who became the measure for all others. A number of blockbusters, an Oscar nomination, one failed marriage, a tainted public image, and several years later land Molly back in Chicago with an opportunity to comeback big in the starring role of a dramatic firefighter movie. The catch, she has to convince America’s favorite firefighter to endorse the film. Her plan, butter up the technical consultant the CFD is sending over.
“The elusive Dempsey. How was it possible that the man who had lit her on fire, body and soul, was also the man who could get her closer to her heart’s desire—a straight shot at his sister?”

After an on the job injury puts former marine firefighter out of commission for a couple of months he’s assigned as an advisor on a movie shoot. He’s adverse to the idea until he finds out the only woman who’s ever lit his life and heart, and feeds his fantasies is starring and producing it. Will they pick up where they left off and part ways like they did the first time around or will the re-write their story with a Hollywood happy ever after?
“Kissing her was like realizing that your world until now was monochromatic. Color sparked behind his eyelids and traveled all over his body, setting off mini-explosions of bliss.”

I can’t remember how or why I picked up a Kate Meader book the first time. I know exactly why I’ve done it every time since and will continue to do so. She’s an excellent writer that hook you right from the start and keeps you charmed and entertained throughout her stories. I want to tell you every little detail I loved about this story, but I would be practically quoting the entire thing so I’ll try to be brief.
“A primal urge to bomb her every cell with sensation rocked him. He wanted to run his bearded jaw over all that silky softness. Watch the gooseflesh pleasure-prickle her skin.”

Molly is an awesome heroine the kind you want to be friends with and not just because she’s a Hollywood superstar. She’s strong, kind and clever, she handles her fame with grace and has a vulnerable side that makes her very relateable. I liked that she was ambitious but she didn’t let that cloud her good judgment and I loved how she interacted with the Dempseys and just couldn’t control herself in the presence of hunky, bearded Neanderthal.
She poked him in the chest. “Drunk, sober, any state, I would be doin’ you tonight, Mister. Lucky. That’s what you are. A total BILF.”
“BILF?”
“Beard I’d like to fuck.”

Oh Wyatt! He left me in a pile of delicious mush. He’s a broody, cavemanish BILF! He’s the silent, odd man out in a rowdy family of firefighters. A calm and collected man who has grown to know and accept the incredible love from his foster siblings but still feels wholly inadequate, especially when it came to the only person “capable of turning him into this beast, the Abominable Un-Wyatt.” I loved how he was fiercely protective of his family and Molly.
She placed her palms on his shoulders. “You planning to glare me into orgasm, Marine?”
“I don’t glare. I smolder.”

The romance between Wyatt and Molly certainly sparks the fire. It is fun, flirt, touching and smoldering hot. I find it so hard to choose which quote to include. It grew a organically from lust to love and I cheered them on just as much as his family did, especially since the odds were against them.
“What in the fuckity fuck of all that is fucking fucked did you do to drive your woman away?”

Oh yeah, Wyatt’s family, a total hoot and completely addictive. I want to be Molly’s friend and Wyatt’s family.

Sparking the Fire is the third and final book in the Hot in Chicago series by Kate Meader. In true Meader fashion, it’s a fun, flirty, smoldering hot, standalone contemporary romance with a delicious alpha male, a vivacious heroine and a back and forth guaranteed to make you smile. Told from both points of view with a swoon worthy happy ending.

FINALLY I have Wyatt Fox on my kindle. I have been waiting patiently for his story since I was introduced to the Dempsey family he is the brooding mysterious oldest brother of the gang.

I loved discovering more about Wyatt finally finding out where he disappears to and why and OMG what a sexy prologue two nameless strangers having 6 sex filled nights together the Marine and the actress.

Molly Cade has had a year from hell and is working on a comeback by starring and producing a new movie in Chicago hoping to base it on Alexandra Dempsey's work/love life. Due to and injury Wyatt is going to be consulting on the movie being filmed at his station, he remembers Molly but the big question is will she remember her Marine?

Wyatt and Molly are great together the flirting the banter and the sexual chemistry is HOT but it is not an easy relationship with Wyatt being so private and protective of his family and Molly being a big Hollywood star these two need to work out what they want from each other if they have a shot at a future together.

I felt sorry for Wyatt how he feels like an outsider in his own family and his struggle to connect with his niece this changes by the end and I loved how far Wyatt and Roni have come in their relationship, I enjoyed all the banter between the siblings especially Gage he is hilarious.

One detail I would of liked included would have been Wyatt and Luke having a heartfelt conversation about Roni to clear the bad feelings between them.

This was a great conclusion to a fantastic series and I am going to miss the Dempsey's, I am looking forward to Kate's future work as I have read ALL her books now.

Sparking the Fire by Kate Meader
Book Three of the Hot in Chicago series

***Warning: this is an adult book, and for the eyes of mature readers***

Summary (from Goodreads):

Kate Meader’s blazing Hot in Chicago firefighter series has “everything you want in a romance” (RT Book Reviews, Top Pick)! The flames of desire burn out of control in this sexy third novel when ex-lovers unexpectedly reunite for a sizzling affair that will have the director yelling, “Quiet on the set!”

Actor Molly Cade, America’s fallen sweetheart, finally has her shot at a Hollywood comeback with a dramatic new role as a tough-as-nails firefighter that promises to propel her back to the big time and restore her self-respect.

Wyatt Fox, resident daredevil at Engine Co. 6, needs a low-key job to keep him busy while he recovers from his latest rescue stunt. Consulting on a local movie shoot should add just enough spark to his day. Especially when in struts Molly Cade: the woman who worked his heart over good, and then left him in the Windy City dust.

Their story is straight out of a script: irrepressible, spunky heroine meets taciturn, smoldering hero. But these two refuse to be typecast, and when the embers of an old love are stoked, someone is bound to get burned…

What I Liked:

I'm disappointed. I liked Meader's adult romance series with Entangled Brazen, and I had high hopes for this new book. I've not read the previous two books in this series, but Meader's books in general have worked for me. This book disappointed.

Something I want to point out - I think many readers will really enjoy this book. I have a feeling that my issues with this book are very specific to me. So, don't be thrown by the rating (unless what I say in the "What I Did Not Like:" section resonates with you).

Wyatt Fox and Molly Cade met five years ago, and shared a week of nameless sex. Then Molly walked away, and five years later, they are thrown together. Wyatt has been following Molly's acting career in those five years, watching all of her movies. But Molly didn't know who Wyatt was. Lo and behold, Wyatt is one of the Dempsey siblings working for the Chicago Fire Department, and just who Molly needs to persuade to help her with her latest movie. Sparks fly between these two as their physical flame is rekindled instantly. But can they have a relationship beyond physical attraction?

I liked Wyatt a lot. He's a former Marine, now a really good firefighter. He was a sniper when he was in the Marines, and now he saves lives. Wyatt has the brooding, tall, dark, and handsome thing going on, but somehow he's not a walking cliche. Like, he doesn't seem like the typical brooding hero. He's not arrogant and cocky, though he is loyal and alpha and protective and a little possessive. Wyatt has a lot of hurt and misery stored up, and he wants to do right by his (large) family. When it comes to Wyatt, everyone comes first, and then everyone else, and then Wyatt.

Usually I'm kind of anti-large-family in books, but I liked this large adoptive family of brothers and sisters (and now, in-laws). The family dynamic is so great, very tight-nit and protective. There is someone new to the family in this book, and I will say that Wyatt does NOT have any secret children.

I suppose the story was interesting enough to keep me reading, and I wasn't bored. But I had one large issue with this book, and it pretty much drained all of my enthusiasm for this book. More about that below!

What I Did Not Like:

Here it is -- I hated Molly. I could not stand that woman. And let me just get this out of the way - I think many readers will have no problems with Molly, and will really like her and see her as bold and feisty and feminist and blah blah blah. Me? I thought she was annoying and waaay into people's business and rude and pampered and definitely a diva.

Reason #1 why I don't read books with actors/actresses -- they are divas. It doesn't matter to me how "down-to-earth" the author tries to make them. They always come across as divas, and pampered. Molly is no different. She is so used to getting what she wants (at least, to the paparazzi), and she's good at throwing tantrums left and right.

She's also good at being incredibly bossy and nosy and all up in everyone's business like she's everyone's mother or something. She's so out of line! She acts like she's a part of Wyatt's family, and can make him do things that involve his family. Um, no. Honey, you're not part of the family, you've known them for a few DAYS, maximum. You don't get a say in how Wyatt does things in the family. You don't get to yell at him for doing whatever he needs to do with his family that you don't approve of. Nope.

Molly is just way too used to getting what she likes. What's more, she is horrible to Wyatt. She is constantly fighting with him and pushing him away, and yet, she wants him to have sex with her. Mixed signals much? Rude much? She hates that he feels so protective of her (because God forbid a man feel protective of the woman he loves).

Let me rant for a second - this is a good example of "feminism" that I can't stand, and it's clear that the author is trying way too hard with the feminism aspect in this book. I am 100% for women standing up for ourselves and not letting men (or anyone dictate) our lives. I am NOT okay with a woman feeling like she is invincible and needs no man and must set him straight at every turn.

Because that's a little sexist too. I found no issue with Wyatt's behavior and displays of protectiveness. But Molly just couldn't let him be loyal to her. And in the end, she pushes and pushes and make him think that she thinks he's not good enough. Ugh! Rude!

The icing on the cake is one of my pet peeves - when the woman f**ks up, but she doesn't beg and grovel and fight for her man, and instead, the man is the one that makes the grand gesture. Yup, that scenario is ALL OVER this book's ending. There seriously needs to be a warning label for these types of books/endings, because I seriously can't stand them. YOU f**ked up - own it! Apologize! Go to him! Talk! Communicate! Molly's half-a**ed "gesture" is more for herself than for Wyatt, and it's incredibly selfish in regard to her relationship with him.

Did I mention that she's an actress? She's a drama queen one too. You can see the author trying to get reader sympathy for her, by hiding her behind the tragedy of her ex-husband leaking her nude photos on the internet (which, in her defense, is very sad and I feel for her). But that doesn't excuse the fact that Molly is a shallow drama queen and I didn't like her.

And on a shallow note - this whole book is centered around firefighters. Why the heck were there no fires to be fought? OR firehouse sex? OR Wyatt in a sexy firefighter uniform? I feel so cheated. The firefighter aspect is not used at all, it's like the protagonist could be any profession. *sigh*

Plus, the steamy scenes were so lackluster... basically everything except the male protagonist was so wrong in this book.

Would I Recommend It:

Nope, I do not recommend this book. Meader can do better. Or maybe this is her "better" and I just can't stand it. Guys, I'm all for feminism, but not the feminism in which a woman pushes away a man (especially the man she supposedly loves) because she feels like she has to prove something. That's just... dumb. So dumb. This book was one of the worst romance novels I've read in a while, that I had been looking forward to reading.

Rating:

2 stars. I feel bad for rating this book so low because I had been looking forward to reading it, but it is what it is. Like I said before, I foresee most readers loving this book. But, because of the female protagonist, I could not get into the story like I'd hoped.

Oh, Wyatt Fox. You wormed your way under my skin in Flirting with Fire and stayed right underneath the surface until you finally got to tell your story in Sparking the Fire and holy hell, what a story it is.

Brought into the Dempsey fold as a young man along with his brother, Logan, Wyatt’s always been the quiet peacemaker. He sits back and watches—helps keep things on even keel . . . something that his brothers and sister sometimes have difficulty doing. When Wyatt is benched from an injury sustained during a rescue, he jumps at the chance to be the fire consultant for a potential blockbuster being filmed in Chicago. Especially since the movie is being produced by and starring one Molly Cade—the woman who worked his mind, heart and body over before she became famous so many years ago.

Molly Cade just wants something for herself. Something SHE does on her own to help stage a Hollywood comeback and hopefully help her find her self-respect again too. Molly is still reeling from some scandalous fallout and she’s desperate to find her footing again, desperate to be herself again. She’s hoping this movie—loosely based on Alexandra Dempsey’s firefighter antics—will help her do that. Imagine her surprise when she finds out Wyatt is not only the hot Marine from her past, but also Alex’s elusive brother.

“My family’s giving you a place to stay. Expecting a shirtless firefighter just seems greedy.”

As Wyatt and Molly reconnect, the sparks fly. Wyatt and all his gruffness and protective nature is a welcome change for Molly. Wyatt just can’t help himself in pulling Molly into his protective orbit—and back into his bed. And oh my, oh my, are their sexy times hot and dirty.

“You planning to glare me into orgasm, Marine?”
“I don’t glare. I smolder.”

But it’s not just their incredible chemistry in bed that ties Wyatt and Molly together, they truly understand and “get” each other. I love their banter and their ability to draw the other out of their guarded, highly protected shells. Wyatt’s quietly sat back and watched out for his family. Molly’s been to hell and back in the Hollywood gossip rags. But together, they’re magical.

“. . . I’ve absorbed everything about being a Dempsey and learned that love requires big choices, bold moves, and on occasion, a little bit of drama.”

I’ve loved EVERY DAMN MINUTE I’ve spent with this amazing Dempsey clan. I wish there were even more “siblings” so that Kate Meader could tell us their stories and keep us up to date on the rest of the family. I’m going to miss them all but I’m hoping Ms. Meader will surprise us all with a quickie novella . . . maybe someone’s wedding. Please, I’m not afraid to beg. Missy, 5 stars times infinity

4.5 Scorching Stars!

Smokin hot! There is just something about a man in uniform. Not only is Wyatt a firefighter but he's also a former marine. (You learn in the book not to say ex-marine) To top off his sexy career choices, he was also the silent broody type. That's a total win for me! Another total win for me is Kate Meader. This is the second book I've read of hers and I'm a big fan of her writing! She managed to not only make this story scorching hot between Wyatt and Molly, but she also had a great message about family. Not all of the Dempsey's are blood related but you can't find a closer bond. I absolutely loved the family dynamic and I am head straight to Amazon to buy the other's in the series!

If you’ve been following the Hot in Chicago series and you know this is the book about Wyatt. Wyatt is the quiet one. In all the other books he is not seen very often; with just a few scenes here, scattered through the books. However, he shines in this book.

This big, brooding, simmering hunk of man is a little brother to Landon, the fallen firefighter. We learn so much about this man and he quickly became a favorite of mine.

The book starts out in a fabulously memorable way and I love the hot passion between Wyatt and Molly. This book tells a wonderful story and the simmering heat between the two is so delectable and consuming! Yum

Kate Meader knows how to write beautiful romance stories that are loaded with fun and interesting characters, beautiful development, loads of steamy scenes, passion, alpha males, and feel good endings. She is one author that I must read every book she publishes in this genre. And this is one series I never want to end!! You have to check them out!

Molly and Wyatt met and had a panty-melting, wall-shaking, life-altering six nights together, and then parted ways, never exchanging any information. Fast forward a few years later, and Molly, now A-list actress, and Wyatt, CFD firefighter, find themselves thrown together again. She’s trying to make a movie comeback while filming a movie that is loosely based on Alex’s (the heroine from the last book and Wyatt’s sister) real life adventures. Their interests clash, but they can’t help that attraction - will they or won’t they give into fate? Welp, you know, romance happens.

description
-well written entry in this series: Ms. Meader has steadily moved up the list of my auto-buy (or at least auto-check out) authors, and her two Chicago series have been among some of my favorite reads in the last couple of years. She had a deft hand at characterization and her talent with a love scene is truly spectacular. Sparking the Fire is certainly no different. For example...
-Hot and sexy romance: If you’re looking for a couple who have sexual chemistry in spades, Molly and Wyatt certainly have it. Their sexual connection is in full force from the get-go and the tension is palpable. The kind that makes you sweat because you can picture these two very physically attractive people just having that spark. Turn on the fan before you start your read, I’m just sayin’.
-Strong and interesting heroine: Molly went through alot, and her struggle to silence the doubters and to keep her position in Hollywood through this movie was believable and understandable. She owned her sexuality and I liked her confidence.
-Self-contained hero: Strong and silent type Wyatt is the most even-tempered of the Dempsey siblings and he’s the kind of stand up guy who loves his family and as he begins this tale, is about protecting his sister Alex from being exploited by Hollywood, and in particular, by Molly. His loyalty is sexy and as his secrets start to spill, it was nice to see beneath the quiet demeanor to the sweet, protective man inside.
-Part of series: I think it’s possible to jump into this book without reading the rest of the series, but the heroes/heroines from the earlier books do make an appearance and feature prominently in Wyatt’s life so it could lead to moments of “I wish I knew what happened before.”
-If I had a quibble...: Molly wove herself into Wyatt’s life easily again, but I wished for a bit more of an emotional connection between them. That she married and divorced in between their first time and current relationship wasn’t my favorite thing, and perhaps it fed into my lack of connection on the emotional front. I mean, I truly believed in their incredibly smoking hot physical lust, no doubt. I just didn’t buy into the love as easily. Was it enjoyable? Absolutely. But it didn’t quite make it as my favorite book in this series, just a fun one.

I enjoyed my time with the Dempsey clan, and Molly and Wyatt's chemistry is scorching. If you’re into a smoking hot romance, I’d encourage you to give this one a shot.

This. This book. The further I got into this story, the more I realized how much I love this kind of hero. Wyatt Fox is renowned for his stoicism. He is the silent one of the crew. In the previous books, Wyatt is the enigma. He is fiercely loyalty to his family both in and out of the firehouse, but not a man of many words. Finally, we get his story in Sparking the Fire, book three in the Hot in Chicago series by Kate Meader.

Hot in Chicago features the lives of the Dempsey family. A family adopted and held together by Sean and Mary Dempsey. Each of the Dempsey children find their way into the fire service, continuing the Dempsey tradition. Sean dies while on duty, along with another brother Logan Keyes. The remaining children are further committed to keeping the family together at Engine Company 6.

In the prologue we learn that five year prior, Wyatt Fox and Molly Cade have a week long “affair with a stranger.” In other words, they hook up at a bar and have an anonymous affair with no names, but lots of role playing. It’s illicit, edgy, and irresistible. After, Molly goes onto Hollywood and becomes the next Sandra Bullock. Wyatt joins his fellow Dempsey family members in the firefighting business. Even though Molly is the darling of Hollywood, she suffers some personal and professional setbacks including a scandal when nude pictures taken by her ex-husband are released to the media. She comes back to Chicago to film a movie featuring a female firefighter. It is loosely based on Alex’s story (see book 2, Playing with Fire). Molly feels the need to prove herself and learn to trust herself again. Her recent nightmares have undermined her confidence and she feels like she needs a “win” to get back her footing in the industry. Low and behold, the technical expert designated to work with her happens to be her former anonymous lover, Wyatt.

There are so many reasons to love Wyatt. Wyatt, although the quiet one, feels very deeply and locks down his emotions because he cannot bear the potential for any more loss in his life. He is protective of his family. Time and time again, he is willing to sacrifice his only happiness in order to ensure their safety. It is interesting to me that the decisions he makes are often without the input from other family members. I appreciate the gesture, but in real life, that’s not how I roll. I confess that I love reading about stoic characters. I adore watching these unflappable, unmoveable men unravel over a good woman. I am gleeful when I read a good grovel and clap happily when they get the happily ever after. However, I know that in the real world, I would probably run the other way rather than get involved with an über alpha. Still, Wyatt stands out to me because despite his lumbersexual stature and his quiet, menacing presence, there are parts of him that are so vulnerable, you just want to hug him.

Wyatt is raised in his early years by his con-man father who used both Wyatt and Logan in his schemes. Wyatt is a painfully shy child and having not gone to school, feels exceptionally insecure. Furthermore, his father treats him like an obligation, “a tie forced on him by societal norms and legal duty.” By the time he is adopted by the Dempsey family, he is a young man who cannot read and can barely speak. It is with the love and encouragement of his family that he opens up. They say that still waters run deep. That is Wyatt to a tee.

My favorite part of this book is the relationship between Molly and Wyatt. They are so good for each other. They seem to unlock each other’s potential. There is a parity between the two that I appreciate. He is not the only one being protective. He is not the only one who makes big gestures. I really, really like that. Additionally, the sexual chemistry is off the charts. Molly says that “desire erupted, leaving no room for sanity.” I love their frenzied desire for one another. “She was the only one capable of turning him into this beast, the Abominable Un-Wyatt.” Yet, there is a playfulness to their relationship that keeps me smiling. Kate Meader does an exceptional job of writing delightful, sexual banter. You will understand when you read passages that include “thigh tickler”, “heteromaximus”, and “tyrannical spooning.”

Wyatt is not known for his words, but when he expresses himself, it is heart-melting: “All my life, I’ve kept my distance from making things too personal. Until I met you and you undid the knots inside. Unraveled me completely.” Beautiful. I could read this book over and over again.

I absolutely loved this story! Molly and Wyatt were such great characters. I adore The Hot in Chicago series so much and since the beginning I've wanted to know about the quiet and gruff man that is Wyatt fox. I loved every single second of it. Excellent story and great conclusion for the series. I am so happy right now!

I loved how the book started, really pulling me in and setting me up for a heck of a ride. There was a nice amount of sexual tension from the start mixed with animosity (which I am a huge fan of) so I loved seeing things grow and build from there. I had so much anticipation for what was to come and I was just excited while reading. I really enjoyed learning about Wyatt's history and how he felt he fit into the Dempsey family. I liked Molly as well, I thought she was such a strong character. I felt like she held herself back a bit at times so it was awesome really seeing her embrace who she was and build herself back up again after some hardships.

The writing was great. I loved the build throughout and the side story that was happening and how it played into Molly and Wyatt's relationship. I adore all the Dempsey's and loved getting the little updates on them. I really enjoyed how they were woven into the book. They're such a great family unit and I love how loving, caring, and accepting they are, and how there they are for one another.

There were so many entertaining parts in this, I found myself chuckling a lot. There was also a ton of sweet and sexy happening as well. Wyatt and Molly had great chemistry! I loved it all. It just ticked all my boxes of everything I enjoy in a story.

I tried not to read this fast but I couldn't help it, it was just so, so good and I couldn't put it down. I love the Dempsey’s so much and I’m going to miss them. They definitely went out with a bang with Wyatt and Molly. Fantastic read!

After being injured during a rescue in the previous book, Wyatt is assigned as a consulting for a local movie shoot, starring Molly Cade. The two share a history that was scorching hot and delicious to hear about. The chemistry was sizzling between them and I loved Meader’s telling of their story.

Wyatt is the calm force and protector of the family, unlike his siblings he avoids the limelight. I loved getting the details of his childhood, brother and history with Molly. Did I mention he is bearded throughout much of the story and ladies the man is F-I-N-E fine. Molly is a force to be reckoned with and seeing these two go head to head was a blast. Their emotions and actions felt genuine. Meader led me through a gamut of emotions from laughter to swoons.

The romance was sweet as these two worked out their baggage and discovered what really matters. Their interaction was fun and filled with snark, head-butting and “awe” moments. Oh, man the kisses were Hot. Meader kept the drama and angst on the low side while allowing both characters to grow. The story flowed naturally, allowing me to slip into the story and become a part of their world. I so want to be Dempsey. They are loud, loving and will always have your six.

Meader of course gives us more time with the Dempseys and even introduces a new character who added warmth and highlighted how tight this family truly is. I loved every moment from outrageous Gage to talks of pop culture movies.

For fans of siblings, family and red-hot romances with men and women in uniform the Hot in Chicago series and Sparking the Fire are sure to heat up your nights and melt your heart.

Plot and Story Line
WHOHEEE!!! What a story that was packed with spice, flavor and some fantastic smexiness to curl your toes!! I had so much fun with this book and it certainly won't be my last Kate Meader story I can tell you that. What is not to love about Sparking The Fire? Well let me tell you....just about nothing. Everything was simply wonderful and I couldn't put this story down the moment I picked it up. Now this is my first experience reading this author and I can tell you it was so fun the way she wrote this story. Now I love a fun fire fighter romance but this one really did it for me. First off, the chemistry between these two is simply off the charts and you just have to join in the for the ride. I think what was so memorable about this story, was seeing these two love birds find each other again to a happy ending which they didn't have the first time. Now both of them have grown up quite a bit in five years. Our hero, is no longer a military man, but still serves in his own way and has a few secrets he is keeping. Molly Cade, has had a rough time of it. She has had to recently to deal with naked photos of herself revealed to the public and it has almost torn her apart inside. She is now recovering hoping this movie will help show the world who and what she is not what the pictures show. I admired both Wyatt and Molly and both have strong personalities and you would think would clash, but honestly they compliment each other in all the ways that really matter. Another fun aspect was Wyatt's family and boy were they fun!!! Especially Gage...he was a hoot. I did like how the twists of his family really add some flame to this romance which flares hot from beginning to end.
“Falling in love with you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Falling is easy. Staying that way is hard. But I’ve been choosing hard all my life, so why the hell would the life I make with the woman who completes me be any different? I love you like a madman. You’re the air I breathe, my next heartbeat, and I’m never letting go.”

Sparking the Fire is the final book in the Hot in Chicago series by Kate Meader. I’m sad to see this series come to an end as it’s been a wild ride with the fun and feisty Dempsey foster siblings, but they get top billing on my reread shelf and each story has been unique and wholly entertaining. They can all be read as standalones and if you are starting with this one, you’ll definitely want to go back and read the rest!

Up until now, Wyatt Fox has been a bit of an enigma. He’s the strong silent type, the one his foster siblings come to for advice, encouraging when needed but somewhat secretive in his own extra-curricular activities. Now he’s center stage as an injury in the line of duty has him sidelined from his regular work at the Chicago Fire Department. When famous movie star Molly Cade needs a professional consult on the site of her new firefighter movie being filmed in Chicago, Wyatt volunteers for the job. Unbeknownst to everyone, five years earlier he and Molly had met as anonymous strangers. He’d just come off his recent military tour, and hooked up with her, an unknown beautiful actress (performing in a local musical) in the hotel they were both staying at for a week of hot sex and equally fun role play. She’d gone on to fame and fortune (and Wyatt had kept an eye on her ever since) while Wyatt had decided it was time to go back home and follow the family footsteps into the CFD. Never did he expect to have the chance to see Molly again, but she’d stayed a permanent part of his fantasies.

Molly’s personal mission is to move on from the disastrous last year of her life that included a nasty divorce and even meaner revenge porn perpetrated on her when naked photos her ex-husband had taken were leaked to the paparazzi. The script for the current movie she’s in, playing a female firefighter, is one she’s hoping to enhance by having approval to include some of the real life events that had happened to Alex Dempsey, Wyatt’s foster sister. It’s why she’s chosen Chicago as the filming site. When she meets Wyatt again, the man she’d never forgotten from their hot and steamy affair, it’s a plus that he’s related to Alex, an extra ‘in’ for her to get the coup of a lifetime by featuring Alex’s story and regaining her own life back. But the Dempsey family has had enough of their fifteen minutes of fame, and Wyatt has extra reasons to want to keep the paparazzi away. Still, being in Molly’s orbit once again is a temptation even he can’t resist. When the embers of their earlier affair flare to life, will they find a way to take their affair to the next level, without getting burned?

The prologue of the story gives the reader a taste of the sexual combustibility of Wyatt and Molly as we see a glimpse of what brought them together, and then flash forward into the heart of the story, five years later. It’s no wonder they haven’t ever forgotten each other in the ensuing time, though they never thought they’d see each other again, and hadn’t exchanged numbers or even names in what turned out to be a pivotal time in both their lives. For Wyatt, realizing that the mysterious woman brought out more emotions in him than his own family, it was the kick he needed to re-establish the sibling relationships he’d been missing out on. For Molly, it was a push into headlong fame, keeping the memory of Wyatt who appreciated her body and spirit never too far away. Seeing each other again sparks all those feelings, only this time, they won’t be so easily dismissed. Though Molly and Wyatt both try to tell themselves that falling into an affair now is a mistake, they can’t help themselves from taking a forbidden taste…and then another…and then another. I loved seeing the two of them together again, the sexual tension ratcheted up with each encounter and falling head over heels in love despite their best efforts to remain emotionally unattached.

Wyatt’s got important reasons for wanting to keep his relationship with Molly, and her involvement with the Dempseys in general, low key. Yet it doesn’t stop him from enjoying having her around his family, who fall for her and her feisty, friendly self just like him. There are some emotional scenes in the story as some family dynamics come into play, as well as lots of laughs especially with Gage, Wyatt’s younger brother, whose irrepressible charm has him stealing several scenes. Molly’s bubbly character is a perfect foil for Wyatt’s stoic façade and it made the whole story just a delight to read. When the film shoot is finished and it’s time for Molly to move on, Wyatt and Molly have to make some key decisions about their future. I loved every bit of this story and series, and will be on the lookout for whatever Kate Meader has up her sleeve next.

This was a fitting end to Kate Meader's CFD series. Wowza. I thought she'd hit peak hotness with Eli and Alex, but I was wrong. Movie actress Molly and firefighter Wyatt burnt up the pages. Loved Wyatt's stoic broodiness - the ultimate still-waters-run-deep hero. And Molly - America's (fallen) sweetheart princess. A woman so far into the public eye she's literally been photographed naked. They couldn't be less right for each other, and yet...they're *only* right for each other...but how on earth can Wyatt risk exposing his family to the scrutiny that Molly invariably brings in her wake? And how can Molly possibly find her ultimate HEA with someone who's not from her world?
That, my friends, is why you need to read this book. And then go right back to the very first book and read them all over again.

I got an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review :) even though it's part of a series, you can actually read it as a standalone... in fact this was my absolute first book written by this lovely author, but it will definitely not be the last... not only because naturally I had to start this particular series with the last book in it ;) but also because I really enjoyed the writing style in general, and I am curious about her other stories :) although I do feel the need to warn you that you might encounter some spoilers about previous books and how certain couples got together, if you're not familiar with those stories... but that lack of knowledge doesn't ruin the joy of reading this particular installment :) so now that we have this little explanation out of the way, let me tell you a bit more about this book :)

I will start with our main couple :) Molly and Wyatt... they actually met before... the very beginning of the book is a glimpse into one hot week they spent together... *fans myself* and what a week it was... ;) and then we skip ahead five years to the present... :) where Wyatt is a firefighter and a consultant on a movie Molly is shooting in Chicago... she's the producer and the star of it, working her way back to the top after a messy divorce and quite a scandal... yeah... her last year was pretty rough... but she is doing her best to overcome all that... I absolutely loved her and the fact that she did not lost her sassy side :) she was so much fun to read about... even though there were moments, or to be more precise certain decisions she made, that I did not like I could sort of undertand where she was going with all that :) Wyatt on the other hand... damn... ;) he definitely stole my heart... yeah, he has some alpha moments, but I actually did not mind them at all... ;) there was just something about him... he was this calm and confident wall of force in his family, but once he unleashes all that when someone threatens people who are close to him... watch out world... ;)

Theirs is a relationship that is not easy to describe... ;) on the one hand, the chemistry is off the charts... like seriously sizzling hot... #NoJoke :) and the sarcastic banter... man oh man, you know how much I love that... :) but on the other hand, they both know that actually getting together is not really the best idea at the time... they both have a lot going on... and I can't tell you about some of that stuff... :) but that doesn't change the fact that they are absolutely drawn to each other... and watching all the sparks between them is soooo entertaining... :) I'm not gonna tell you everything about how they actually get together, because I want you to experience all that without any spoilers whatsoever, but I loved it... which really says a lot, cause I'm not usually a fan of those push-and-pull-at-the-same-time-situations :)

Now when it comes to secondary characters... they were definitely a big plus of the story :) like I mentioned before, this one is the last book in a series, so naturally we have appearances of all the previous couples... especially since they are all siblings in this huge and amazing family :) and even though I now know some of the events that happened in their own books, that definitely does not discourage me from reading them... in fact, the more scenes I read in this novel about the whole big Fox clan, the more I fell in love with all of them.. and now I want to read ALL of those books... :) *sighs* and my tbr #BookMountain just gets bigger and bigger... #NoRegrets ;) I'm not gonna name all of the people I loved, but I have to mention Gage :) he was the most hilarious one of them all and I may just skip the order and read his story first... ;) it's a real struggle people ;)

I really loved this story... :) the writing style was fantastic... and I am always apprehensive when trying out a completely new to me author, because you never know what you'll find, so when I discover a great storyteller it's always such a wonderful surprise :) now I got her and her books on my radar ;) I gave this book 4,5 stars because even though I loved the majority of it, there was just one thing that bothered me... I think that it took a bit too long to resolve certain drama towards the end of the book... I'm not gonna go into specifics, but I wanted to see that remedied sooner... but again, it's mostly connected to my personal preferences as a reader, so I'm sure it won't be a problem for a lot of you guys... :) just wanted to put it out there :) and please, don't get me wrong, I loved how this story ended and I highly recommend you this novel :) especially if you like witty and sarcastic banter, scorchingly hot chemistry and all sorts of relationships... because the connections and interactions not only between our main couple, but between the members of the family and their friends are simply wonderful... I wouldn't mind dropping by for a barbeque with them... ;) I hope you guys will give it a try ;)

XOXO

It sounded wonderful. A hot, secret, summer affair with an ex, no, former marine firefighter, who looked like a pirate and fucked like a dream.

Oh, my. That does sound wonderful, doesn't it? And it is, let me tell you.

It SO is.

I've loved everything single one of the books in Kate Meader’s Hot in Chicago series, and with good reason. They're chock full of alpha men, sassy women, fire—both actual fire, and the combustive chemistry that draws each of the Dempsey siblings to their other half—and swoony romance. I loved them all so much that, honestly, I felt like I’d been waiting for Sparking the Fire forever.

But it wasn't forever. And it was worth the wait. Wyatt Fox—‘Stone Cold Fox’ that he is—was the gruff, stoic, deep, wounded, and surprisingly funny man of my fictional dreams. Good grief, I'm fairly sure that, if he were real, he'd melt panties from fifty paces. Or a hundred and fifty paces. From ALL the fucking paces. That's how delicious he was.

Wyatt was simply impossible to ignore. From the earliest book in this series, I had my eye on him, and now he's in the spotlight? I don't want to share him, but I want EVERYONE to read this fun, flirty, emotional story. It's redemptive. It's about family, and how loving someone can make you stronger. It's about finding love and believing in it. It's funny, and sexy, and completely addictive.

It is unputdownable.

I could not stop reading this book. It kept me guessing and pressed all of my buttons. I fanned myself. I connected with Molly, as she struggled to find herself and her balance. I smiled at the amazing, satisfying and rewarding back and forth between this family. I laughed at the girls as they shared secrets, and at the boys as they devolved into cavemen.

I basically flailed my way through this entire book, and not even a small dissatisfaction about one thing is enough to stop me from wanting to shout from the rooftops that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED THIS BOOK. Because it was—just like Wyatt and Molly’s illicit summer affair—completely wonderful. And oh, so hot.

Kate Meader is doing it again, lighting our hearts with such a wonderful, amazing and mind blowing story.

Wyatt and Molly met years ago and spent a week of HOT and UNFORGETTABLE anonymous sex.

Now meeting again and having to work together, both Molly and Wyatt have to control the fire that sparks between them whenever they're around each other.

Because...

There are millions of reasons why they shouldn't be together.

But...

“Nothing had ever felt this good. No one had ever felt this good. It had always been her.”

Ever heard about ovaries explosion?!

Here is your chance to get one, because Wyatt is a man who could bring you to orgasm while looking at you...

“You planning to glare me into orgasm, Marine?”

You certainly are missing A LOT! Cause this is the kind of book one should read, re-read and totally keep.

“Kissing her was like realizing that your world until now was monochromatic . Color sparked behind his eyelids and traveled all over his body, setting off mini-explosions of bliss.”

Another HOT book in the Hot in Chicago series! This series is just fun. It's full of strong, uncompromising heroines and very loyal, gorgeous men.

Sparking the Fire finally gives us Wyatt's story. He meets Molly Cade five years before she becomes one of America's biggest movie stars. They hook up and well, we don't get the details of this hookup but we are assured the affair was amazing for both of them. I, personally, would have given this book 5 stars if the first part of the book detailed this affair. I wanted to understand their bond and their attachment to each other and it all started with this affair five years ago.

Their relationship continues when they meet again on the set of Molly's new show, which takes place at Wyatt's fire station. He is the consultant with the Hollywood show so they interact and sparks fly once again.

But Wyatt can't really get involved in someone with such a high profile and Molly is recovering from a painful breakup and is reluctant to get involved with anyone again. I enjoyed their push/pull relationship and they were really good together.

Wyatt is the dark, brooding one of the family and everyone is shocked to see him smitten with none other than America's sweetheart. Molly knows he would never hurt her but they are complete opposites and she doesn't see it working long term.

But she can't resist him because, well...

Overall, I loved Wyatt and Molly's story! They had a lot of obstacles to overcome and they had a lot of chemistry together. I enjoyed catching up with all of the couples from the previous books. I hope there are more of these!

Thank you, Netgalley for probiding this book in exchange for an honest review!

4 playing with fire makes you burn in the most delicious of ways stars. This is kind of a second chance story considering Molly and Wyatt met once before and by met I totally mean were into each other. It is a shock to them both when they come face to face because of Molly's career decision. One thing is certain, the chemistry and heat between them didn't go anywhere. Molly and Wyatt think it's better to keep things professional, but that clearly goes out the door quickly. There's something to be said for desires that burn brighter than a forest fire.

Molly takes on this project because she believes in it and really needs it. Her personal life ripped her apart and the scandal she was a part of really sucked for her. She wants to do right by this part and it ends up leading her back to sexy Wyatt. Honestly, Molly would have to be dead to not appreciate Wyatt's mature look. She doesn't want to complete things or cause problems but even good intentions have a way of getting twisted up. The thing between her and Wyatt grows until it is more than just a thing.

Wyatt can't believe the sexy girl who would dress up and have amazing sex with him for an expiration date is back in his life and that he has to work with her. Fine, he has to show her what it is like being a part of the firehouse but that's all it is. Well, that's all it was supposed to be until his family offers her a place to stay in the house next to his. Also, the kiss and the feel of her and....well, fuck it. Wyatt wants Molly and he's going to have her.

The thing with life is, good intentions and neat aren't realities. Life is messy, complicated and sometimes forces people to move out of their comfort zones. This story reminds us that love and chance go hand in hand, you have to be in the game to win the game. You also have to be willing to lose to achieve the ultimate reward. Life isn't neat, it isn't easy, but there good things that come your way make it worth living.

This first paragraph it seems, has to be my disclaimer. I’ve always enjoyed Kate Meader’s writing. Like her confident use of words and phrases, the odd bits of humour injected into the book despite the ridiculous exaggerations at times.

‘Sparking the Fire’ was one on the ‘to-read’ list for a long time, because I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the strong, silent and smouldering type, whose mysterious ways intrigued me from the start. But if I liked Wyatt Fox, I found myself detesting everything Molly Cade is. She is unfortunately, anything but irrepressible and spunky and an epic fail of a feminist icon or the independent modern woman, by coming across instead as a spoilt, entitled and flouncy actress who insists on getting her way and to whom everyone must bow, especially Wyatt.

I found it impossible to connect with an immature, reckless excuse of a ‘heroine’ who expected life to go her way or the highway, without an inch of compromise and respect when it came to Wyatt, particularly for his job which he knows better than what she proclaims she does.

I struggled, as a consequence. Huffed and puffed through my growing annoyance until I threw it in midway.

That much did I find myself wanting to put down the book because every little thing Molly did or said irked me immensely—and what use is the romance, when I can’t even buy into a couple I’m not entirely sure is suited to each other?

I am a huge fan of Kate Meader's Hot in Chicago series and I am loving this most recent (and final) book in the series. We finally get to find out Wyatt's story! But, I am bummed that this is the final book ... I'm going to miss these characters and the world Kate Meader has created! I love the idea of a group of foster kids who come together to find their own family. The love and sense of family that these characters display in the series just warms my heart. PLUS, the romances are all fantastically done!

In this one, we learn more about Wyatt and his relationship with Molly who is essentially America's sweetheart. I have to admit that Molly took a little bit to grow on me but I eventually found myself loving her as well! She and Wyatt were a great match and there was lots of heat between them! One of my favorite things about this series is the funny banter and wonderful dialogue! Wyatt and Molly certainly have all of that in their relationship!

Although this book can easily be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend you start with Flirting with Fire which is the first book in the series. I suspect you won't be able to stop reading until you get to this one! If you like romances with strong heroines and interesting heroes, you don't want to miss this one (or the series)!

Wyatt and Molly were an interesting couple in a lot of ways. They had great chemistry, there was a lot of appeal in reading about them and about their story.

Unfortunately, I am not sure I was ever convinced that they were a couple together for the long haul. There was a lot of time spent emphasizing the differences of their lives and that seemed to have more weight. There was an effort at the end to show that it could work...but I am not positive I believed it.

Other than the possibly not HEA, I did enjoy this book. The characters seemed like real people. The dialog was effective. The chemistry was explosive and compelling. I would have liked this a lot more if I was able to fully buy into the relationship of Molly and Wyatt and believe it was for the long haul.

But, I do recommend the book.
