Dark Planet Warriors: Escape

Rate this book
Abbey

Ever since we left the Fleet Station, Tarak has been his usual cryptic self. For some reason, he’s keeping everything very low-key, to the extent that we’re trying to sneak in to Kythia. Something’s up, and he’s not telling me anything.
Every time I try to get answers, he distracts me with his stupid sexiness.
Stupid sexy, silver, stubborn, insistent alien. Why can’t he just keep his damn hands to himself? And why do I suck at resisting his advances?
There’s something he’s not telling me. He’s up to something shady, and I don’t like it.
I guess I have no choice but to stick with him for now, because half of Kythia is out to get me, and who better to have by your side than the most lethal soldier in the Kordolian military?
We’ll just have to work on his communication skills, a little, that’s all.

Tarak

Kythia is a dangerous place for a Human, but I must go there. The safest place in the universe for Abbey right now is by my side, so she comes with me.
She will not enjoy the trip, but I aim to keep it brief.
Besides, I cannot keep my hands off her. She mystifies and perplexes me, and yet I find myself addicted to her warmth, her scent, and her sweet taste.
She does not know the extent of the danger facing us. The High Council want my head. They may send assassins after us. The barren wastelands of the Vaal, where we must go, are cold and harsh and completely disconnected from civilization.
But I must find the tortured Prince, and drag him back to reality.
There are plans I wish to put in place to ensure the survival of our race, and he, just like my precious Human, is an integral part of them.
We may be returning to Earth sooner than she thinks.

Dark Planet Warriors is a 3-book serial. Each book is an episode of Abbey and Tarak's story, just like a TV series.

Books in series:
Book one: Invasion
Book two: Taken
Book three: Escape

Due to violence, swearing and steamy sex scenes, these books are recommended for readers aged 18 years and over.

This was a great ending ( for now at least ) for Tarak and Abby. Can't wait to see what's next from this author. Oh and all 3 books are safe.

"He's overbearing, obnoxious and he still doesn't want to tell me anything, much to my irritation. but then he goes and says shit like I am your servant, like some gallant knight from ancient times, making me go all weak at the knees."

"My female is insane, and I am completely, utterly obsessed with her."

Dark Planet Warriors: Invasion by Anna Carven was a delight to read.

Humans working on a space station Foruna Tau, find their lives turned upside, when the big bad Kordolians land. Abbey, a scientist working on the space station, has never seen anyone like these warriors, but they are kind of sexy. Large with silver skin, pointy-ears hotty warriors that almost make you want to pee your pants.

Abbey is badly hurt, and the Big Bad General, Tarak, takes her to his home planet, Kythia, for her to heal. Mr Grumpy, aka General, finds himself in a situation that confounds him as his little human soon becomes an obsession. But the Empire wants her for themselves to treat her like a lab rat. Tarak vows she is his and will stop at nothing to protect his mate.

What ensues is mayhem, chaos, action, sexy, sizzling, tension, and much more. If you like sci-fi romance, then look no further.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 - this is part 3 of 3 installments which make up the full first story in this series.

Installment review:
There's quite a bit of action in this final piece to the story and a couple of bits I didn't see coming, which is always nice. There's also a bit where Abbey is in danger and instead of being a TSTL moment (which it completely could have been), she actually acknowledged that she needed to do what Tarak said to stay safe rather than ignoring him, as otherwise she would get both of them killed. Refreshing to have someone make the right choice rather than be stupid! Three cheers for brain power!

I also like the humour in this - nothing over the top, just a few funny bits and conversation. I love the way Abbey calls her coat a Skaz-something every time instead of its real name. (This is funny in context, honest!)

The only downside was this this finished a little neatly and abruptly for my liking, and I was left really wanting so much more. I know the next book continues the series but it's with the Prince's story, so I don't think we will see much more from Tarak and Abbey. I definitely enjoyed this enough to see another installment of how they ended up - even just an epilogue would be good... although possibly there's references to them in the next book?

Update - since reading this, there are a handful more books in the series and so the world is expanded upon and Book #3 Into the Light is about Tarak & Abbey again, so will continue on with the series to see what happens...

Series review: This was actually surprisingly enjoyable. I was in a real book slump when I saw this and just randomly decided to give it a go - and was pleasantly surprised.

Fun, sexy, sci-fi romance.

I am loving this serial so far!!
Kindle Unlimited, btw.
Love the heroine!! She is so levelheaded and thoughtful.
This story (so far) is part romance, part political intrigue of this dying alien society.
Excellent world building with groundwork for plenty of additional follow-up books.
Absolutely recommended!

Hmm, 3 stars. Not great but not bad. Lots of eye rolling but that's mostly from the heroine...

I'm going to do one rating for this whole book. I looooved reading this! It ws very interesting and the characters really captured my attention, they were both pretty badass. I like that there was a outside problem so it wasn't 100% all about their relationship. I also liked that they solved the outside problem, you'd be surprised how many stories forget to do that. I really enjoy the world building this story had and the way they explained how some things worked, like how they got oxegyn in space, it was very impressive especially for a 3 part type story. My only complaint was that I wished they elaborated on some thing, like how long is a cycle? I also wish there was a epilogue, because even though they solved the outside problem the book ended when the solution was just beginning, I really would have liked to see how everything would resolve itself. Still even with those small issues this was a verh enjoyable read and I defiantly recommend it to sci-fi alien romance lovers.

Edit: I just realized there's more books in this series!!! Yipeee

4 Kordolian Stars

This time Abbey and Tarek know what they want and that is definitely each other. The are bound for earth and a better life. Where Kordolians of the lower class are treated better than those of the horrible noble houses.

**MINOR SPOILERS**
This is the first book in a plethora of books, novellas, and at least two spin off series of Dark Planet Warriors. The books were published out of chronological order, so the 4th book of the series should be read next.
Tarak is a general in the Kordolian army. He and his warship of super soldiers are attacked just before they enter a wormhole. Because his ship is damaged, they land at a far off (backwater) mining colony so that repairs can be done. Unbeknownst to them, their insect like enemy, the Xargek, has followed them to the mining colony.
Abbey works on the mining colony as a scientist in the green space. At first, Tarak and his people consider Humans to be inferior in technology and abilities. But Abbey begins to talk to Tarak and Tarak admires her bravery in some situations (no spoilers). She is attacked by the enemy and Tarak rushes her to his planet in order to help her with her healing.
Tarak is honorable and caring for Abbey. He also is quite open about his feelings about her. I really liked him. He is willing to listen to her and take her opinions into account which is amazing considering he is a general and is used to giving orders and that she is Human and the Kordolians did not have much respect for them in the past.
Tarak finds out he is beginning a mating fever which seemed a little hopeless as the women on his home planet are dying out. In addition, interspecies relationships are frowned upon. I thought the implications of the Mating Fever could have been brought out more given the imbalance between the numbers of male and female Kordolians.
Having read the series, the way the Mating Fever works in this book is different from the way it works in other books. Here, Tarak gets the Mating Fever without a trigger. In later books, it takes exposure to a destined mate to trigger the Mating Fever.
The pace of the book is fast. The dialogue is realistic.
More detail could have been given about Tarak’s background. It shaped who he was and motivated him to become a leader. Tarak seems young to have become a general. Note: in future books, more of Tarak’s past comes out.
Note for some: There are explicit s*x scenes.
At the beginning of the book, one of Tarak’s warriors, Rykal, is asked to subdue a sergeant on the station, Arin. A later book features their story.
I think it would be nice for the author to include a reference list in the books. Included could be the names of the different male and female main characters, planets mentioned, aliens mentioned, and maybe a few word translations (siv, etc) that the Kordolians use.
I already purchased the next book in the series.

Part 3 of 3

I really enjoyed this story. I think there were a few places that could have used improvement, not necessarily with the story but with the narration. The story was amazing. For those of you who have read Anna Zaires' Krinar Trilogy, Mia and Korum's story, you will understand when I say this story kind of felt like what could have been happening with the Krinar before they came to earth. Though, the Krinar liked warmer, tropical weather and the Kordolian came from an ice planet without a sun. Other than that, they were very similar. The main characters of this one, Abbey and Tarak, were interesting. I liked going on this journey with them and look forward to see what happens with the Kordolians/Humans next.

Wow!! I was so sucked into this series that I'm already on book 3 and I'm hooked. I'm listening on Audiobook and the narration is amazing. Love Todd McLaren as Tarak's voice. I wish he narrated the whole series. Can't wait to see what Anna has in store for this series.

**Spoilers for all three books. I'm basically giving everything away.**

I have been looking for another Barbarian Ice Planet book for awhile now. This is not that but it still was pretty good. Even though I wouldn't call it smut.. There wasn't a whole lot of smutty ness going on but I still enjoyed the story. I hate when authors break up a story this way though. If I didn't have kindle unlimited I would never pay .99 for each one of these because they are extremely short. So this is my review for all three books.

Abbey works on an asteroid mining station in space. The station gets boarded by some scary aliens. The aliens aren't there for fight they just needed someone to help them repair their ship. They accidentally let loose some giant bug that tries to attack Abbey. Abbey is injured and it may be fatal. The leader of the scary aliens, General Tarak, feels a pull toward Abbey and since it was his fault the big bug was on the station he decides to take Abbey back to his planet to fix her.--- This is basically the whole first book in a paragraph. I decided to read the next book because of Abbey . The last couple books I have read, I have hated the FMC But Abbey I love. She is laying on the ground, bones sticking out of her legs and she it giving Tarak lip. She's funny and sarcastic and never shuts up. So I love her.

In the next book Abbey and Tarak are on his home planet.. for the life of me I can't remember what its called, starts with a K though. Your welcome. Anyways, the scary aliens (also can't remember what they are, also starts with a K) have super advance technology and Tarak was experimented when he was young, so his blood has nanos in it that help him heal and do all kinds of nifty things. His blood heals Abbey in like a day. But now she has these nanos in her. She is stronger and faster, yay. Tarak has to leave his quarters. He did this because he thought she would be safe. His rooms are made so no one but his blood can get in or out. He tells her not to leave but does she listen? nope. My liking of her goes down just a bit. She wants to find a way off the planet(well they are on a space station right next to the planet but you get me) so she leaves his rooms and the medical aliens snatch her up because when she first got there they realized that human women are compatible with their dying race. She fights them and my liking of her goes back up. She is strapped to a table and is telling the aliens thats she's going to knee them in the balls. So I love her again. She is saved and this is when they first sleep together... in a pool.. underwater. yeah... strange.-- thats the end of the second book.

This book Tarak wants to change some things for his race and he wants to make sure Abbey is safe. They go to meet up with some lost prince. Tarak declares Abbey his mate and goes all alpha crazy when Abbey tries to show the prince how to shake hands. Tarak and the prince know that their people are going to try to invade Earth to force women to experiment on and breed with. Freaking sickos. Tarak and the prince will have none of that. They are going to go to Earth to establish peace and they are basically separating from their race. There's a lot of fun things that happen in between. The Prince is pretty funny because he's weird, kind of off in the head, so I like him a lot. They get to Earth, find out that Abbey might be preggers. Tarak is adorable when he finds out. Honestly it ends kind of fast. But whatever. yay for humans that are pregnant with alien babies!

Okay so this ended up being WAY longer than I thought it was going to. If someone actually read all that, I'm sorry. :) I guess I should have written a review for each, but oh well. I will defiantly read the next book, which I think is a full length novel and it's from the Prince's POV.

I recently have had this weird obsession with sci-fi alien romance. I suspect I am not the only one, as there has been a burst of this genre on the market. But beware, because some novels of this type are god awful, thankfully this was not one of them. I won't go into the synopsis of the serials just a semi brief comment on my opinion. That way if you views are similar to mine, this review may help you chose whether or not to read "The Dark Planet Warriors" series. I am a pretty simple person. I like a good story. I know there are some people that hate grammatical errors and feel it ruins the narrative, while I probably don't even notice them. I also need good characterization to enjoy a book. And while I love romance, I am not a fan of the stories that are borderline porn (that doesn't mean it can't have sex, it's just that there should be a story with sex, not sex with a little story.) These three short serials were a great combination of world building, characterization, sci-fi action, and romance. In my opinion it started out sort of choppy while still holding my attention, but then the author must have really hit her stride, because I got lost in the words and came to love the stories. I love both the H/h (both characters remained true to theirselves, while experiencing growth (more so for the H,)) I loved that the h was strong in character despite being physically weaker. I also love that her actions weren't those cliche "get into nonsensical trouble, so I can be saved" b.s.. Overall I really like this story and I honestly can't wait for the full length novel!

Really well written sci-fi romance

This is the third and final book for the same couple. You will need to read them in order.
This writer has a great sense of humor. Abby is intelligent and gutsy. Tarak is dominant but smart enough to be flexible with a girlfriend from a new species. There is a lot of sensable-ness about this story. The reactions of the characters are believable. Totally refreshing. The dialogue is entertaining.
The world building is well done. I felt I could really see what she is describing. There are good guys and bad guys and all are well done as well.
This book had a little bit of over thinking in it. Too much time inside the characters minds. But not too bad. There were a couple of typos, I suspect the evil autocorrect, but only two I can remember. Totally recommend. I read them on kindle unlimited, so not sure what they cost. Very worth reading though. I will be looking for more by this author.

I have a hard time reviewing a book when really it's only a third of the book. I read the first three books in the series- which is really just one full book. The book description and the other reviews do a good job of describing the plot of the book so I won't repeat. This is a Sci-fi romance book similar to Tracy St.John and Evangeline Anderson (though really Evangeline Anderson is the queen of the Sci-fy romance with heat). I'm not always a fan of books written in first person but seeing the book from both the male and female leads was very interesting and I really enjoyed leaning about their personalities through seeing the world through their eyes. The book(s) could have used another read through by an editor but the errors are fairly minor and I still recommend the book. Heat level was a 7.5 (1=Christian, 5= fade to black and 10=erotica). I recommend this for a quick read- especially if you have Kindle Unlimited and can read it for "free".

,,Park two is Great!!!

In my first review , I said the series had the potential to be one of the great alien/human stories. Part two continues with the story of Tarak and Abby. Tarak is a tough warrior, the General, who is knock off his boots by a scientist who is a human bioscientist.
Pusued by both the Empire who wish to study Abby and other assorted evil guys, Tarak must fight to keep them both alive. Like the other stories in this series, the storyline keeps you guessing and is never boring. The characters are interesting and you find yourself investing in their lives. This is the third book in the series, so do as I am doing. Track down the other books and enjoy this series.

Sweetness and light! Who knew Tarak could be so sweet? He goes from hardened butthole to a much softer side. Abbey obviously is the reason and I really loved that. This is the last of their story...at least for now. The series is continuing but with different characters. He's keeping a little something from her still which is a price on his head. She does get angry with him for keeping secrets. She tries really hard to resist his charms and seductions and sometimes it worked. :) We meet the Empress' son Zal who seems actually level headed and normalish. Not like this batshit crazy mother which is why he lives in exile but I think thats about to change. I really enjoyed reading about Tarak and Abbey and look forward to more in the series.
