In a world where the name of your soulmate appears on your skin on your 18th birthday, Mackenzie “Kenzie” Eaglen III discovers what life is like when your soulmate rejects you.
It’s decidedly lonely.
Though not unhappy with his job and estranged from his indifferent mother and convicted white-collar criminal father, Kenzie lives out his days in a never-ending loop of utter sameness.
When a sudden injury occurs, Kenzie is forced to make some changes. One of those changes leads him to the friendship of a very charming young doctor with sparkling gray eyes.
Alas Fate isn’t finished with Kenzie and he soon learns there’s much more to his new friend than he first thought.
Avoiding Fate is a prequel of sorts to the Soulmates books. The story deals with a family suicide and is not meant for readers under the age of 18 due to language and sexual content.
There were some errors and it could have been a little more proof-read, but it was a quick and fun read. I was squealing my head off, especially with that ending! Perfect PERFECT amount of angst, exactly where it counts! Kenzie felt a TAD underdeveloped at times, but for the most part he and Jake were wonderful, and they definitely worked together well. I loved this! It was adorable! Adorable with the perfect amount of angst!
I love this book. I re read it every few months. I love the premise of the story. I love Kenzie and Jake and their journey to each other. Everything about this book just calls to me. I highly recommend it!
Short, sweet read that I enjoyed so much. I felt so crushed inside for Mackenzie/Kenzie and really felt just how lonely he was inside until Jake finally came into his life. Now onto the next book in the series.
