A decent, but simplistic devotional. It had some nice moments, but I'm glad it has been read and I can move on to something else.

Rest…that’s what I’m searching for in my weekly rhythm of fast-paced days. That’s why I chose this book from a list of wonderful books to review. And, happily, I found rest just from reading just a few first pages.

I enjoy the blue-tinged pages, because the color blue is comforting and relaxing. I turned to the October 28 reading, which was the day I received the book on my front porch, and was wowed by the peaceful title, “Faith Over Fear.” I loved the way God used it to speak to my heart, the fears and my faith stirring together inside. Here’s a quote that brought me comfort: “Let go of your fears today. Lay them at the feet of God. Breathe in His promises of provision and exhale any doubt.” This helps me in my current struggle of fearing what the future holds for my budding writing career.

I enjoy the short, readable format each day, perfect for a busy mom like me. The day begins with a Bible verse, then a brief devotion, then a one or two-sentence long prayer. Ideal for my mornings, lunch breaks, or evening prayer time. This book will be a treasure for building my faith walk.

I thumbed through other sections and I appreciate how the content is seasonal, such as Christmas themes in December. I also like relevant titles for today’s culture, such as March 2nd’s “Turn Off Technology, Tune Into Dinnertime.” This book also contains a helpful Scripture Index at the back, so you can quickly find devotions based on specific Bible passages. What a great resource this promises to be for me!

I recommend this book to anyone wanting a convenient, encouraging, peaceful devotional that fits in a busy schedule. Holding this plum-colored treasure with peaceful blue accents will surely help you find rest in God’s presence.

I read a book fairly recently (Not recently enough to remember the exact title, something along the lines of Minute Tips for Moms) that enlightened me to the idea of 'rest'. Not the type of rest where it's your day off so you dress up and go out with your spouse and then spend 30 minutes packing up your toddler to go to the park, but real actual rest.

As you grow up you hit this stage where you almost miss being sick, because you remember sitting in bed, no responsibilities but to take care of yourself, and you sleep and color and eat things your mom brings you. And then you realize you're all grown up and no one is going to bring you anything, and if you eat then you also need to make something for your toddler and then you have to help your toddler sit potty and before you know it, it's been three hours into your optimistically-planned 'rest day' full of chores and cleaning and being a mom.

My husband and I have developed a plan where I get three hours (la, not a whole day) of uninterrupted rest where I might take a bubble bath, might nap, or might just read or color. We do the same for him on my days off as he has the harder job of stay at home dad.

This devotional is a wonderful way to remind yourself to take a beat and instead of three hours a week, maybe take a half hour each day as well before the kids wake up or after they've gone to sleep. Just like 365 devotions to finding Peace, this book is well presented as a hardback with a foiled (shiny!) cover and bookmark to keep your place. Much recommended.

This is such a busy time of year, and a busy season of life, for many of us, and that makes this book wholly relevant and necessary. We _must_ slow down and just stop every now and again, and this is a wonderful book to help you do just that. Each day offers up a new, short (and thereby completely doable) opportunity for rest and reflection. The devotionals are calming and help the reader to reconnect with the inner spirit. If you, or someone you love, is caught up in the rat race madness that we call life today, this is a great, and economical, gift of love.

If you’re looking for an easy and encouraging way to fit some positivity into your day, this devotional may be just what you need.

Many people are looking for rest in their lives, and this book can help the reader achieve that, if only for a few minutes each day. Everything about this book is designed to promote rest from the title, to the purple cover, blue-accented pages, beautiful ribbon bookmark, and devotional titles.

The devotions are short, making them easy to fit into a busy schedule. Each devotion contains a title, Bible verse, message, and a brief prayer. The author uses various Bible versions, and a verse index is included. This is a devotional book to be treasured and used for many years.

A beautiful hardcover devotional is sure to please everyone on your gift-giving list. It is very well organized with wonderful bold titles highlighted in blue. There is a scripture index in the back of the book. On each page are insightful, encouraging snippets that will leave your soul refreshed, hopeful and renewed. Most importantly, the scriptures will give you a word picture of what rest looks like and you'll embark on a journey experiencing rest for the soul!
