Join twins Mia and Maddie and their sidekick little sister, Lulu, as they travel the country finding adventure, mystery, and sometimes mischief along the way. Together with their famous mother, singer Gloria Glimmer, and their slightly wacky nanny Miss Julia, the sisters learn lessons about being good friends, telling the truth, and a whole lot more.
In this fourth book in the Faithgirlz Glimmer Girls series, the Glimmer family is headed to the Big Apple—New York City! Gloria has been asked to perform a concert in Times Square and the whole family joins her. Miss Julia immediately starts planning a sightseeing trip for the sisters that will be better than all the rest, but plans never turn out exactly as they imagine when the Glimmer girls are involved. So what happens when sibling rivalry, random acts of kindness, and a little mystery all meet up at some of the most famous sights in New York City?
These lively girls are now off to New York City where more fun and adventure await them and how the FaithGirlz get involved in the mysterious Snow Angel. Excitement and adventure await readers as the family of three girls with their father, famous mother, and their nanny - who is a powerful influence on the girls - take in New York City.
While a fun, readable story that does involve faith and prayer and while it lets the young readers glimpse the life of children whose parent is a famous entertainer, it does have the young FaithGirlz doing things children their age should not. For example: sneaking out without parent's permission (in New York, really?). Also, as with most families there is sibling arguing, and they sometimes have an "attitude."
The importance of telling the truth and of forgiveness are positives in this book and series.
I find this is still an enjoyable story, and girls just seem to love thise little books by Natalie Grant.

My thoughts: First, the disclaimer. "I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, LIGHT UP NEW YORK is the fourth book in the Glimmer Girl series. The books are stand-alone, but if you like to read books in order, they are: London Art Chase, A Dolphin Wish, Miracle in Music City, and Light Up New York.
I really enjoyed reading this book and found it amazing how Ms. Grant is so excellent at characterization. Maddie is just like me, Mia is like my older sister, and Lulu is like my little sister. Just like us. :)
I loved the way they used the different personalities to figure things out and do things together. The book felt very very real, because I could imagine me and my sisters in the story.
There is a mystery in it, but it isn't a real scary one. It is a really cool book. I loved it. Highly recommended for tween girls.
If you have a tween-aged girl in your home, she will enjoy this chapter book written by Christian music superstar Natalie Grant. Sisters Mia, Maddie, and Lulu travel to New York with their parents and nanny. The girls experience the delights of the city in winter and try to solve the mystery of the Snow Angel.
A lot of positive elements stood out to me in this cute book. The book is written from Mia’s perspective. She struggles to get along with her sisters. We have a peek into her thoughts, which are so common for children caught up in sibling rivalry. Mia isn’t perfect, so girls will relate to her. Mia’s parents affirm her struggles and encourage her to show forgiveness and grace. Mia prays about her struggles and tries to make better choices.
The story includes acts of compassion and a heart for ministry. It is others-focused. I am happy to share this kind of book with my 8-year-old daughter, because it’s both entertaining and values-driven.
Also, though I have never traveled to New York or had much of a desire to do so, this book makes a trip look fun. It includes vignettes of the exciting sights, sounds, tastes, and activities in this busy city. This story for children actually made me consider adding New York to our vacation bucket list!
I asked my daughter to read this book and review it, because I feel her opinion matters even more than mine. She liked the book and is interested in reading the other three books in the series. She’s willing to donate this book to her school so other girls can enjoy the story as well. Does it get any better than that from an 8-year-old girl?
I received a free copy of this book from the BookLook Bloggers Program in exchange for my honest review.
Kinda infuriating because the youngest sister gets everything she wants, felt jealous her big sisters would be on a TV show and she could so she ruined their hair to humiliate and punish them, then she threw their special irreplaceable snow globe into the New York Harbor. What a brat! And worse!! The parents comforted THE ABUSIVE LITTLE SISTER and told her she would have to do extra chores back home once the trip was over to make up for it. No!! She need PUNISHED!! And they told the wronged big sisters!… to forgive. How are your older two daughters supposed to feel safe in their own home? How are they supposed to feel like they’re worth protecting? How are they supposed to feel like they matter when you let their tiny abuser get away with everything!?!? PUNISH THE EVIL CHILD

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed this series & can see many girls in the target market liking them as well. :)

I love how the kids in this book Maddie, Mia and their little sister Lulu act like kids their age it's hard to find books where the girls especially one's Maddie and Mia's age act like girls their age not younger or older and how the twins Maddie and Mia are each unique with their likes, dislikes and personalities just because their twins doesn't means they are exactly alike just like in real life.
I love how the girls and their parents interact with one another it feels like your reading about a real family and how the parents help the girls but also make mistakes too because no one is perfect.
The Glimmer girls did it again! They manage to find a mystery wherever they go… This time the detective bug followed them to New York, where they started a hunt on the mysterious Snow Angel… With all the exciting things and sight seeing in NY, they chose to unveil this Snow Angel persona, but in the process they managed to become one…
Interesting and engaging story of young-detective girls who have their peer questions, battling the jealousy and putting other in jeopardy.
I liked this one better than the first one that I read in this series. I liked that the mystery was they were trying to discover someone who was doing good deeds and I thought that was cool. Overall I think that it would be a fun read for kids. This one was mainly from the point of view of Mia. The kids didn't do anything dangerous in this one like leaving a hotel by themselves. The youngest girl at times came across a bit bratty but I thought the parents dealt with it well for the most part. Although there was a part that I didn't like: "What did you say to her, Mom?" Mia asked..."When she asked if she'd always be bad?" "I reminded her that God made her in his image, and that means that she is not bad. The thing is, as long as we're on earth, we have the opportunity to make selfish choices." This seems to be implying that people are not inherently sinful which goes against what the Bible teaches. I would recommend as a read aloud so you could discuss some of the things that happened as you're reading it.
"Light Up New York" is the fourth book in the Faithgirlz Glimmer series. Twins Mia and Maddie, along with their little sister, Lulu travel around the country solving mysteries along finding new adventures. The Glimmer sisters travel with their famous singer mother, Gloria Glimmer, their father, and their information packed nanny, Miss Julia. Along the way, the sisters discover the true meaning of friends, family, telling the truth and forgiveness. In the latest book, the Glimmer family heads to NYC to perform a charity concert in Time Square where the whole family joins in the concert. However, right around the time of their visit, something mysterious happens that the whole family gets involved. Who is the Snow Angel? How would the girls learn sympathy?
Each of the book in the series can be read as a standalone. I have not read any of the other books in the series. The novel is great for grade schoolers and tweens as it doesn't have any questionable content and it encourages children to kind, truthful and to think of others. The girls also have a healthy relationship with their parents with mutual respect, trust and love. I found the book to be a quick and easy read while being enjoyable. I thought it was a decent book but my younger female cousin enjoyed the book and wanted to read the rest of the series.

My Review:
The sisters are on the move to the Big Apple on their next adventure. They are mesmerized but all the lights, sounds and fast movement that is New York. Miss Julia is getting around to making this a trip the girls will never forget. There is never a dull moment when these girls get involved.
The mother of these girls, Gloria Glimmer has been asked to preform in New York city so the whole family gets to enjoy this trip. But as we always find out something goes wrong to always upset their plans for a good family trip.
What I love about these books is that Gloria Glimmer always takes time out to teach her girls whats really important in life and how each of the sisters really need to count on each other and cherish their sisterly bond.
Together with mischief, fun, and family these girls can show our young girls a good time!
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own.
I really liked this book. It was a fun, adventurous book that taught Mia, Maddie, and Lulu about kindness, and can teach us too. Another thing I liked about this book is that the siblings didn’t get along perfectly. Now, this alone is not a good thing. But in so many other books, siblings can be made to look just plain annoying, like they’re totally bad, or like they’re just some cute little side character that can be easily forgiven. Not in this book. Mia and Maddie were very annoyed with Lulu, and responded like natural humans, snapping out at her. But their parents weren’t okay with it, and reprimanded them. When Lulu did something that got her in trouble, their parents talked separately with them, and worked things out. Additionally, their parents work hard to give a consequence that matches what the child did wrong. This is an incredible book! Please read!
I was happy to get this book for my daughter. My daughter loved the cover of the book and how it looked over all. She is 8 years old and really didn’t not like or like the book. She was not thrilled over the story. I think the book had a wide range of different words that kids can be introduced to. The book is a pretty standard size and gets an idea of the old romance books from the 90s. With this being the fourth book in the series i do wonder if there would be some consistency between the books. I personally red the book myself to her and i think it did have a overall cute idea behind the book. I think the picture is cute and i also think the My kids have not been to new york but i think this book would be a great book to get your girls excited.
