The 9 Unbreakable Laws of Language Learning: A Quick and Easy Guide to Developing a Successful Language-Learning Mind-Set

Rate this book
Contrary to popular belief, success in language learning is not about secret techniques, flashy software or expensive courses. Instead the key to language-learning success is cultivating a mind-set of success.

Every year endless numbers of people begin to study foreign languages, but many - if not most - give up soon afterwards, not because they 'lack talent', as so many claim, but rather because they neglect to train their minds for the rigours of language learning. This book will equip you with all the necessary mental tools to persevere through the inevitable challenges that arise in this long and demanding process. It will help you to avoid the most common pitfalls.

If you have ever dreamed of mastering a foreign language, The 9 Unbreakable Laws of Language Learning is a guidebook to superior performance.

Written by a language teacher with over 15 years of experience, Benjamin J. Lawson gives an honest and unconventional insight into the definitive laws that govern the world of language learning.

Motivational, practical advice

Nothing unique or surprising, just clear straightforward practical advice. If you've already studied a language outside of the school classroom, you won't gain any new insights, but it will encourage you to keep on learning.

Concise and reasonable rules for successful language learning

The book is divided into 9 chapters ( one for each rule), each one concise, with interesting anecdotes and not too repetitive. I found the rules to resonate with me and will integrate them in my next language classes. I like how the author refuses to sugarcoat reality and goes straight to the point: language learning is a life-long journey full of ups and downs, not a sprint. It is your responsibility to set your own language goals, put in the time and the effort (even if just for 1 minute a day) and incorporate what you love to guarantee a joyful, rewarding experience.
Really enjoyed this.

Useful Insight

Interesting book, having chosen to consider a possible relocation to a new country I saw learning the language a daunting necessity, I know see it as part of overall experience and to step back and enjoy it.

Good little book

Love it. Concise, to the point, with motivation and a bit of humor. This book is about the right attitude for language learning. Like a gentle reminder to the obvious things that I always forgot most of the time when trying to learning language.
