'She Dims the Stars' is a great, beautifully written story that despite the fact that deals with heavy subjects it will touch your heart and soul. A coming of age story, this tale has a bit of everything – heart, humor, entertaining dialogue and endearing characters.
The story fallows Audrey, a girl who embarks on a journey that will change her life forever. Elliot and Cline are college roommates and best friends. Elliot meets Audrey when he and Cline head to Cline’s home. This strange girl apparently is Cline’s former best friend. Their friendship ended six years ago when Audrey decided to walk away from Cline thout any explanation. Cline is still confused about Audrey’s behavior and about what really happened with her back then. He doesn’t hate her, but he’s angry and he wants to know what exactly determined Audrey to end their friendship.
Cline and Audrey have to chance to reconnect when Audrey ask Elliot to help her find some answers about her mother’s past and also about her life. So the three of them decide to go on a road trip that eventually will change them forever.
This story told in dual POV from Audrey and Elliot’s perspective was well written, relatable and very moving at times.
All three MC were really well portrayed and every one of them relatable in their own way. I think most readers will connect with our heroine which I truly liked. Audrey’s journey is not simple and it’s not an easy one. She was a very likeable character IMO. Her story, her past broke my heart. Despite her past and her…condition, she’s a strong girl who tries as best as she can to be like everyone else, “normal”. She’s sweet and funny and I enjoyed her personality. IMO she’s a survivor and also a fighter.
Elliot was such a sweetheart. From the beginning he won me over with his sweet and caring side and with his nerdiness. He made me swoon and smile and like Audrey as he story progressed I fell hard for him. I loved the way he was with Audrey from the start. He was a little odd at times, but simply perfect for our heroine. The way he was with her at times warmed my heart.
The romantic aspect of the story is not the most important one, but I enjoyed the way the author portrayed it. The slow burn relationship between Audrey and Elliot was really sweet and heartwarming. I loved the sweet and/or sexy scenes between them. They were really great together and they completed each other perfectly.
The fantastic dialogue entertained me from start to finish and I really enjoyed the banter between these characters and the dynamic between them.
Overall, a great well written wonderful story!

Amber L. Johnson delivers a poignant story of two college roommates Elliot Clark and Cline Somers who head to Cline’s home and run into Cline’s former best friend, Audrey Byrd. The story is told in alternating POVs of Audrey and Elliot as he decides to help her find out more about her birth mother during this summer vacation. Cline the angry former friend of Audrey’s goes along for the ride and learns some truths about his friend that put her in a totally different light.
”Some lies are easier to say out loud than telling people the truth.”
Audrey’s journey to the truth about her birth mother and her plan to tell Cline the reasons that their friendship fell apart drive this story. Audrey’s feelings about her life and herself were well written.
”But I know better, because no matter how far I run, I can never outrun myself. I have the loudest voice I know, even when I’m completely silent.”
All the characters in this story were wonderful but the love that forms between Audrey and Elliot was truly special.

A young adult novel that deals with depression, anxiety, emotional abuse, and the consequences thereof. A difficult story to read but one that, in a way, gives a voice to those who live with such crippling and, oftentimes, fatal disorders.
Audrey, despite her psychological disorders, was adorable, while Elliot was everything you'd ever want in a friend. I really enjoyed it.

An amazing balance of geek, realism, truism, and heroism.
I kind of don’t know where to start with this one.
Maybe I should start with a little disclosure: Yes, I’m friends with the author. And, yes, I made the cover. Oh…for some odd and miraculous reason, Amber gave me an ARC.
All of the above aside, I LOVED this book in a totally UNBIASED way. This one WORKED for me.
Maybe it was the awesome dialogue with a hint of geekery and perversions, or maybe it was the fact that this book was filled with PEOPLE…not characters. Okay, so they might be fictional, but they FELT so real to me. They have issues. They are flawed. They are relatable. But most of all…despite all of this…they carry on. <----I LOVE THAT.
This is the story of Audrey Byrd, but more so, it’s the story about a threesome—an ex-best friend, a guy just strumming along, and a girl that is a mystery…even to herself.
I loved them all. I loved Audrey and her ability to keep her chin up even though she felt so ungrounded. Like she was just floating along and trying to figure out this thing we call life and how she fits in it. She tries…she survives. She’s impulsive, funny, reactive and relatable. Man is she ever relatable. I think a little bit of Audrey lives inside all of us.
Elliot is like the most awesome guy ever and has super powers. I can’t tell you what they are…but you want to be the recipient of them. He had me swooning many times throughout this book and giggling the others.
Cline! OMG. I loved him. I think if I were made into a male character, it would be Cline. Between talks of octopuses, fedoras, dragons, and beetles, this guy has it going on.
This new adult story has a very serious side to it along with the humor.
I laughed a lot, swooned in the right moments, and MIGHT had teared up a bit. I have a feeling that anybody who likes college set stories with amazing dialogue and can relate to self-esteem issues on ANY level will enjoy this one. I certainly did.

‘I feel invincible. I am invincible. That’s a terrifying way for someone to feel when they’ve felt like nothing for so long.’
Sometimes a book comes along and it resonates somewhere so deep inside. To a place that you keep hidden and try not to think about unless it demands it and when it does. Reading She Dims the Stars was this book. It was as if Amber L Johnson saw us through her words as we read, felt and understood. She was telling us that she truly saw us.
‘There’s no greater anxiety than wondering exactly why you’re not good enough to be in someone’s life. What you’ve done or said wrong.’
This book was nothing short of beautiful. It was incredibly well written with characters we immediately fell in love with for their quirkiness, big hearts and real issues. There was sadness, inspiration, hope, love and such well-placed humour and banter. We were swept away and became part of this flawless piece of perfection.
‘She can swallow the entire environment around her until she’s the focal point. She could dim even the brightest of stars if she’d just get out of her head.’
Everything centres round our heroine, Audrey who as the Author so perfectly puts, could be any one of us be it some or many aspects of her persona. We loved Audrey and can honestly say she almost felt ethereal at times- like she saw more, felt more and embraced life more. An oxymoron – perhaps under the circumstances, however, when you truly take on the responsibility for it all, it can quite simply be exhausting. When you feel like you cannot hold on to everything you take it upon yourself to feel completely responsible. Be it right or wrong. More often wrong. The size of the heart can sometimes be bigger than that which you can carry. So yes, Audrey’s story is one which many readers will relate to as anxiety, panic attacks and depression lives with many of us, next to us or inside us.
“You’re awkward and I have panic attacks. Did you really think that would go over well?”
Audrey’s journey includes her childhood friend Cline, who has to be one of our favourite best friend characters. Something happened which meant these two best mates found themselves at a cross road. That is until Elliot our gorgeous lovable geek happened – to be the link that perhaps hastened the inevitable reunion of old friends in order to mend the broken fences with the simplicity of truth. We cried and laughed alongside this dynamic trio as they set off on a road trip of discover, healing, friendship and love. Secrets and lies – truths and tragedy.
“We’re going to be the greatest love story never told.”
It was a hot pot of emotion greeted with laughs, tears and pure enjoyment. There is so much to this story and we loved every second of it. The moments of hilarity, sweetness, sorrow and inspiration combined with class writing made it a story that stole our hearts. Audrey, Elliot and Cline stole our hearts. We laughed through tears and smiled through pain alongside these beautiful and real people.

She Dims the Stars was written with such sensitivity and handled with utmost respect and infinite care. We absolutely loved it and highly recommend it as one of the most poignant stories we’ve read in a long while. So sweet, romantic and funny too – it really had everything we love in a story!

Amber Johnson writes for me and me alone.
At least that's how I feel when I read her novels.
As a reader, she's never once disappointed me, and I'm always left feeling utterly in love with the characters and world's she creates. There's a sweetness and genuine love wrapped around every word she allows me to read that I've yet to find from another author. Amber is nothing less than magical, and She Dims the Stars is proof. When I didn't think I could love something more than Puddle Jumping, she asked me if I wanted to read this.
My hope is that everyone reads it so they can feel the overwhelming gratitude for Amber L. Johnson that I feel. She has an amazing career ahead of her, and we're all lucky enough to be here to read it.
At least that's how I feel when I read her novels.

A superbly written story about a girl struggling with depression and anxiety. This one read a little too slow and Y/A paced for my usual liking but I wholeheartedly respect this author's talents and give huge props to this wonderful story as a whole.
I pre-ordered this book because I was a HUGE fan of Puddle Jumping and although I cannot say I swooned as much in this one, I still respected and enjoyed it. The synopsis of this book had me in fear that I may be dealing with a love-triangle trope (which I normally steer clear of) however, I can happily say that it is not the case at all :)
There was definitely one or 2 steamy N/A moments and I would consider this more of a beautiful self-discovery book where the romance comes in second place as more of an enhancement/cherry-on-top to the important issues.
Told in dual, first person POV and standalone story.

I pre-ordered this. YA/NA isn't my favorite genre'. Amber Johnson is one of my favorite authors.
I loved her novella Puddle Jumping.
I almost dnf'd at the Prologue and Chapter 1. I just couldn't get what was going on. I'm so glad that I read on.
This is first person POV- alternating Audrey and Elliot. Cline is Audrey's best friend from early childhood to when they were 15 y/o. The reason they stopped being friends is slowly explained in the journey that the 3 of them take on their summer vacation before their last year of college. Elliot and Cline are current best friends/roommates. Audrey shows up & it's six years later. Audrey meets Elliot and they immediately hit it off. Cline doesn't know why Audrey just walked away from their friendship. He's angry and wants answers from Audrey.
Cline goes with Audrey and Elliot on a road trip to help Audrey find out more about her mom who died in childbirth.
This is a deeply emotional story. Audrey's father raised her alone until she was 11. Her step mother (monster) Miranda, then entered their lives. Audrey had always blamed herself for her mother's death. Miranda frequently reminded Audrey of this and many other inadequacies. The verbal and mental abuse really pissed me off. I wanted revenge on that bitch. As you can guess, this was a trigger for me. My husband's step mother was very much like Miranda. There are some very good and caring step parents out there. Miranda was no stereotypical step mother- villain. She seemed real to me. The step mom incidents were Audrey's retelling to Elliot & then later to Cline or Audrey's own memories. Audrey was very fragile and Miranda really was sneaky in tormenting her. Audrey's dad -supposedly didn't know what the hell was going on. She tried to act normal, not upset-she couldn't tell her dad. Would he believe her? Would it make it worse?
Since Audrey's been in college, she's been away from her step mother's torments.
There is a romance here, but it's really secondary to Audrey's journey. Taking charge of herself, her life.
Even though, they just met, Elliot is very supportive of Audrey. He doesn't shy away from Audrey's
anxiety episodes.
Elliot thinking about Audrey: "How loud and bright and chaotic she can be. How she can swallow the entire environment around her until she's the only focal point. She could dim even the brightest of stars if she'd just get out of her head."
A moment of truth comes up of course. Audrey and the guys arrive back home.
This book was light on the romance. For most of the book, Audrey is no shape to start any romance.
I really felt strongly for the Audrey and Elliot. Cline's character wasn't fleshed out to my satisfaction. He seemed a little shallow.
There's a nice little epilogue and a realistic and satisfying HEA,
4.50-4.75 stars angst filled stars.

OMG!!! I loved this book!!! It is heart-stoppingly beautiful but has moments of humor as well. I hope everyone will read this AMAZING story. It is incredibly poignant, readable and will hit home with many readers. For others, I hope it will offer insight into a painful and often debilitating condition.

Even if you are not a fan of YA novels, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. The deep empathy that Amber Johnson has for her characters shines through on every page of this book. What starts out as a mystery as to why Cline and Audrey's friendship ended, evolves into a sensitive and deeply sympathetic story about anxiety and depression, and finally, romance.
Audrey battles with being honest with Cline and finally tells him the truth. A series of very dramatic events then unfolds but the author delivers a wonderful and very fitting conclusion for the main characters. I can't say enough about this story, I loved Audrey and Elliot and the way Elliot treated her. The writing is gorgeous and lyrical and very, very brave. Clever, heartfelt, and with just the perfect amount of heat, She Dims the Stars is my favorite book so far by Amber Johnson.

OMG!!! I loved this book!!! It is heart-stoppingly beautiful but has moments of humor as well. I hope everyone will read this AMAZING story. It is incredibly poignant, readable and will hit home with many readers. For others, I hope it will offer insight into a painful and often debilitating condition.

When I saw that Amber L. Johnson had a new release, I just knew that I’d stop whatever it was that I was doing to read it. And just like every other book of hers, She Dims the Stars was absolutely perfect.
SDtS is a bit of a coming of age story for Audrey, our heroine who is struggling with her depression and simply trying to find where she belongs in a world that she doesn’t feel she’s worthy enough to belong in.
When Elliot offers to drive her to her grandmother’s house in the hopes to gain answers about her mother, Cline tags along – although he and Aubrey haven’t been friends since everything changed six years prior.
This book tackles a very heavy subject matter and although I was feeling all sorts of happy-smiling-like-a-loon feelings for the first 60% of this story, I had a feeling that eventually we’d experience the lows. But I have to say the way banter between Cline & Elliot and Audrey & Elliot ensured that your heart was not weighed completely down. I loved the way they interacted. I loved seeing Cline and Aubrey close the gap and how easily he accepted what had driven the wedge between them in the first place.
And Elliot. Oh, boy. He was perfect. A little dorky at times but so, so sweet. He sort of just jumps right into this crazy little world of Audrey’s and he doesn’t for one second look back or hesitate.
This was a quick read that left me feeling a little lighter once I had finished. I knew that it would kick me right in the emotions and that I would not escape this story without shedding a few tears. But I actually found those tears were of the happy variety. I was so proud of Audrey, I was so thankful that Elliot had patience and didn’t walk away or give up. That he saw something in her that was worth the fight.
I can’t wait for more from this author. I adore her writing style and how she brings you the most unexpected stories with these complex characters that just steal your heart the moment you meet them. I can’t tell you how much you’re missing out on if you have not read this author. Real subjects are touched upon in the most endearing of ways with each one. I loved this book so much that I ordered the paperback just second after finishing the e-book version.

Makes me sad to say this but I struggled with She Dims the Stars. I really wanted to enjoy this book. The writing itself is great, but the story kind of fell flat for me. I found the characters to be one dimensional and the hero and the heroine did not engender a connection on any level for me. The storyline just didn't click with me.
Overall, it was okay. I would've enjoyed it so much more had the characters been more admirable and likable.

Amber L. Johnson has blown me away once again, this time with her unique approach to a sensitive subject that effects more people than you could ever imagine.
The story begins with Elliot, having recently been dumped, meeting Audrey when she comes over to re-connect with her once best friend, Cline. Elliot and Audrey have immediate chemistry, but even better, they just seem to 'get' one another. When Audrey embarks on a cross-country journey to find the answers that she needs about her past and her future, Elliot, who's summer plans once included his now ex-girlfriend, decides to join her. Cline doesn't want to leave Elliot in Audrey's clutches and appoints himself as the road trip chaperone.
As Audrey discovers more and more about her past, her future becomes blurred and uncertain. Everything she ever knew to be true has been proven to be fiction, but there is so much more to the story than she could ever imagine.
The more Audrey learns about herself, the less Elliot finds himself able to resist her. The easiness and comfort that Audrey and Elliot find with each other is quite spectacular. While the romance isn't as overt as in other books in this genre, the connection is undeniable. I loved watching them grow closer together
With the whit and humor that I have come to expect from Johnson's work, She Dims the Stars explores anxiety and depression in a way that I have never seen before. Audrey Byrd has her quirks, but no one around her, including her ex-best friend, Cline would ever suspect that she struggles with crippling anxiety and devastating depression. Audrey has built up a front, a mask that she never leaves home without.
Amber makes you take a look at the hidden aspects of this disease. While Audrey appears to be carefree and fearless, it is only through constant battle with her own mind that she is even able to leave her bed every day. While I myself do not struggle with depression, my husband does. Johnson's portrayal of Audrey so closely resembles my husband and his battles that I feel as though Audrey is an old friend.
She Dims the Stars shines a light on a subject that more and more people find themselves familiar with. Johnson's characters and story will show people that they are not alone, not the only one who has ever felt this way or struggled with such feelings of defeat and fear. Thank you, Amber, for making what was once a dirty little secret, something that we can and should talk about in the open.

Really enjoyed this one! Our heroine suffers from severe depression, upon trying to reconnect with her ex-best friend, she finds the hero, who is quirky, odd and shy almost. He's a breath of fresh air, loving, caring and a bit of an odd-ball. They embark on a road-trip of sorts where the heroine attempts to connect with her mother, but ends up finding herself, and falling in love.
I liked the slow build romance; the friends-to-lovers, I loved the feeling of the settings, the adventure they went on, I enjoyed the characters traits. All in all it was a really good read.

I finished this book less than an hour ago and I had to shoot to the blog because I have a bone to pick with Amber L. Johnson. Why? Because she's making me out to be a liar lol. Every time I read a book of hers I am certain that it's the best of hers, then I read another and I'm certain that one is the best... and so on and so forth. So I guess I really shouldn't have been surprised when I picked up her soon to be released SHE DIMS THE STARS and found myself completely transfixed by the story unable to do anything else until I finished (and when I finished I immediately ran to gush about it!).
Let me get the rating out of the way, I'm giving this story all the stars and then some!
I've repeatedly spoken of Amber's magic, and I'm going to do it again. STARS made me smile, laugh, cry, and it made me feel. Why is this special? I'll tell you. It's special because she crafts this story that made me feel SO MUCH using characters that are very much like you, me, the girl at the grocery store, or the boy you went to school with. Her characters are extraordinarily ordinary and that's where the beauty lies.
Don't misunderstand me, they go through painful things that give them those fantastic personality layers but the things that leave the scars aren't far-fetched or overdone. Their problems are just as relateable as the rest of the story and it's why I love them so.
Who is Audrey Byrd?
Audrey is my favorite character I've read in a long time. Her search for truth and her barely concealed vulnerability captured me from the start. Audrey's story isn't the easiest to read as I felt her own struggle come alive off the pages, but it isn't hard to read either. I found myself cheering her on as she took steps to get answers for herself, and I felt proud of her as she opened up bit by bit. Yeah Audrey Byrd made me feel all the feels.
The story deals with some serious conversations and issues but it's not a dark story by any means. There is laughter and happiness, even especially with Audrey and Cline's bickering and so many things that will leave you giggling aloud (this is your reading in public disclaimer). The serious and the silly were both so perfectly balanced and tasteful I wouldn't wish for anything to be different.
I feel like I'm babbling (and I probably am) but the fangirling is for an amazing reason. SHE DIMS THE STARS releases on 3/20 and you can preorder it right now for only .99!
Do it! If you love this one only half as much as I do, it's still going to be a lot of love flowing.

While this powerfully strong and engaging story deals with some very serious issues, relief comes in the form of laughter-filled dialogue written with charm, humor and wit. The characters are a little kooky and offbeat, but delightfully drawn, and you just can’t help but fall in love with Audrey, Elliott and Cline.
As the three set out on a road trip in pursuit of answers to Audrey’s questions concerning the mother she never knew, readers are treated to an amazing story covering a sundry of dilemmas including sympathy, empathy, friendship, love and loyalty. The message of believing in yourself comes forth loud and clear. The simple things are sweet and cheerful. Elliott is one heck of a book boyfriend and when he makes your heart go pitter patter, you know that it’s love. He certainly ranks high and gets praise in that category. The entire cast is a wonderful variety of awesome.

This book has left me with mixed feelings despite it being a really sweet and poignant story with a heartfelt message.
I loved the characters and their connection but for some reason the story didn't pull me in a hard as I expected. At times I found the story lacked some fluidity and as a result it was a little difficult to follow. I was going to stop reading it a few times but then I just had to find out what happened to Audrey and Elliott, and Cline. Despite my misgivings, I was glad that I read on until the end. The conclusion was probably as perfect as it could be, given what Audrey went through. It wasn't an artificial ending, and for that I have to praise the author as she managed to maintain the overall feeling throughout the story without creating an unrealistic conclusion.
By the end of the book, I felt like I have been on the road with the group as I faced their ups and downs with them. The reasons behind Audrey's problems did seem unrealistic though. I understand that her clashes with her step-mother attributed to her problems with surely just talking to her father would have given her the answers she desperately sought.
This was quite a short read but one to leave you with a clear message about depression and anxiety, so I commend the author for tackling such a difficult and emotive subject.
As my rating suggests, overall I liked the book and I suspect each reader will reach their own conclusions as to how to interpret the story. Love it or hate it though, it packs a powerful punch.

It's been a while since the last time I read Amber L. Johnson book. This one is kinda different from her other books but it's just as amazing as the others!
Mental health problems often being ignored because we're afraid that we're called weird or crazy. But it's very important to recognize it early so we can get help before it's too late. This book shows how important it is to open up and ask for helps if we think we're really depressed and need someone to talk to.
I love the friendship/relationship that is built in the story, love how the problem solved, love writing and most importantly, I love the life lessons we got from this book!
Books by Amber L. Johnson never disappoint! Looking forward for her new releases in the future!

This one was just ok for me. I have really liked a couple of this authors other books. I just didn't feel the connection in this one like I did the other two I read. I will still read more of her books though in the future.

She Dims the Stars is not your conventional romance read. There is romance, but the storyline also deals with a subject more taboo than main stream—depression.
Handled with care, yet brutal in its honesty, Amber Johnson writes Audrey’s pain so well, you feel yourself choking on it. Her past, until this point, dictated her present, the unknown and questions burning through her head constantly.
When she meets Elliott, she has no idea how important he will become to her, or the effect he will have on her life.
Elliott is simply put—lovely. His patience and understand for Audrey is a joy to read, and the way he accepts her, and tries to understand the disease that stalks her is touching.
I enjoyed the addition of her ex-best friend who happens to be Elliott`s roommate and bestie. Some of Cline’s moments had me laughing out loud.
A great read. Well written, and honest. It touched a piece of my soul, perhaps because I too can understand Audrey’s pain, and the need to keep it hidden at all cost.

This book was amazing. Truly wonderful. I've never suffered from anxiety or depression but the way she described it has helped me understand what my Mom feels. She suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. This has helped me understand it a little bit more. Thank you for that Amber. Thank you.

Reading the synopsis to this book, I fully expected an angst fest. Yes, there is angst, but this was a lot lighter than I expected. And yes, it deals with some heavy issues, but the banter among the three main characters, provides a lighter approach to the subject of mental stability.
Audrey is an interesting character. She has this quirkiness about her that catches your attention. Her early interactions with Elliott are random and brief. But even that minimal interaction is enough for them to be intrigued. The title actually comes from her behavior, as Elliott believed that she has an energy about her that would dim the stars.
There are a lot of warning signs about Aubrey's mental state. For her POV, we get her insecurity and anxiety during confrontational moments. We also get Elliot's POV, where he notes the constant fidgeting, excessive amounts of prescriptions, and general unease in her own skin. While he doesn't handle her with kid gloves, he isn't confrontational towards her, giving her time to confess things on her own.
I loved the weird commentary between Audrey, Elliott and Colin. Elliott seems to have Audrey's back, someone he just met, over his BFF/roommate. Despite Colin's insensate complaints, the three embark on a road trip of discovery, as Audrey tries to find out more about her family.
It takes a while for Audrey to confess to Colin why she did what she did years prior (see synopsis), and once it was revealed, I'm not sure why she was so scared. Any person who wouldn't understand is clearly not a good friend. Looking back, similar to Elliott, I think it is even better that Colin let her do so on her own terms. Pushing her for the reasons, would only have pushed her further away.
Although the road trip didn't give Audrey what she was looking for, I think the trip was good in that she repaired one friendship and found another person who cared for her, more than she ever felt she deserved.
This story has a great message about self-worth and believing in yourself. Audrey deserved to be loved. To get that love and fully appreciate it, she had to learn to love herself.

Although the road trip didn't give Audrey what she was looking for, I think the trip was good in that she repaired one friendship and found another person who cared for her, more than she ever felt she deserved.
This story has a great message about self-worth and believing in yourself. Audrey deserved to be loved. To get that love and fully appreciate it, she had to learn to love herself.

Medio tarde, con vacaciones de por medio, pero al fin... ¡¡Primer libro del 2017!! Fiesta en lo de Magnus Bane (?)
Fue una hermosa lectura para comenzar el año. Es un libro corto y sencillo, pero al mismo tiempo te llega el mensaje que se quiere transmitir. Creo que lo que más me gusto fue la nota de la autora al final.
Audrey es un personaje complejo, a pesar de todo lo que pasó y lo que padece, trata de llevar todo con una sonrisa, aparenta ser optimista, sarcástica e irrompible, quién no ha hecho eso? quién no ha aparentando ser feliz cuando internamente era una mezcla de emociones deprimentes? (no se me ocurre otra manera de decirlo).
Elliot es un encanto, denme 10 como él. Quiero ser un personaje en su juego.
Cline, él fue el responsable de que el libro me entretuviera como lo hizo, sus comentarios, las situaciones en las que se metía jajaja, y además el saber como era de pequeño. Quiero un mejor amigo como Cline.
Otra cosa que me gustó fue, el no Insta-Love que sufren los personajes, van asimilando y aceptando de a poco lo que sienten. También, la amistad que hay entre dos de ellos.
Lo que más recalco, es que nunca considere muy importante la enfermedad que se trata, siempre la pensé como algo más sencillo. Me cambió la forma de verlo, y es lo que más valoro de la historia. Suena medio bobo, pero es lo que quería transmitir la autora y conmigo lo logró.
Podría decir que, es un libro de aceptación, superación, búsqueda, amor, amistad, pero suena muy cliché. Y no quiero que sea catalogado como cliché (para eso existe Besos entre líneas).

"We're gonna be the greatest love story ever told."
I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book when I first went in. I hadn't read the synopsis but the fact that it was written by the same author as one of my very top reads of 15 was enough to have me diving me, and I am so glad that I did.
When I started reading, I was actually in the throws of a book hanger, so I thought I'd find it hard to really get stuck in to She Dims The Stars, but I was wrong. I fell hopelessly in love with Audrey and Elliot, and even Cline! This was just such a great book!!
It was emotional, heartfelt and so uplifting!! She shows us a different side to a sensitive subject and she handles it with such care and devotion. It's really not often these day that I can read a book in just one sitting but with She Dims The Stars, there was no stopping once I started.
It had the perfect mix of angst and humour, and I just loved it so much! The ending was perfection. I loved what Elliot did for Audrey. Obviously no spoilers. But when you get to it, you'll know exactly what I mean. It made me love him twenty times more than before.
There's also a section after the end of the story where the author talks about the reason she chose to write the storyline she did, and she adds sections for different organisations linked to the topic which I always think is really important with stories like this, so if you read it and it relates to you, there's help. And hope.
One heck of a story. One heck of a romance. One heck of an author. Thank you, Amber L Johnson. For Audrey, for Elliot, for their story, and yours.

Amber L. Johnson is not afraid to write about topics in life that others may find too sensitive. From Asperger's in Puddle Jumping to anxiety/depression in She Dims the Stars, she approaches the subjects with love, humor, and a good dose of reality.
What starts out as a young woman (Audrey) wanting to give her once best friend (Cline) an explanation for her odd behavior years earlier, turns into a journey to discovery.
Audrey had been best friends with Cline since they were 4 years old. At 15 Audrey suddenly stops talking to him, leaving him confused and bitter. Six years later she returns to try to explain herself. What she receives instead is an offer from Cline's friend and roommate, Elliot, to help her find answers to her past. Once Cline realizes Elliot is traveling with Audrey he decides to tag along because he still doesn't trust that Audrey isn't just using Elliot.
Their journey to learn more about Audrey's life is filled with laughs, tears, forgiveness, and even new friends.
Amber has once again done an amazing job weaving real life issues with some much needed humor. She has taken on the subject of depression and anxiety in a way that brings a better understanding of what someone living it may go through on a daily basis...and how well they can often hide it from everyone around them. I highly recommend She Dims the Stars. After reading it you will realize there are more people struggling than you once believed. Also, you will have a better understanding of what someone (your own loved ones included) truly feels when facing each new day.

Ms. Johnson, you never fail to blow my mind away and pull on my heartstrings.
Our boy Elliot was dumped. Audrey is a surprise.
She kisses him in the diner, with no warning.
The two embark on a journey to discover themselves; Elliot's recent breakup and Audrey's need to figure out her past. Cline, Audrey's ex-best friend worries for Elliot's sake and joins them too.
The chemistry between Elliot and Audrey is beautiful and as Audrey grows and learns more about her past, Elliot can't help but fall for her more and more.
Don't be fooled though, for this isn't your typical romance (I knew what I signed up for Amber), and although it took me a while to, there's a very very important message in this book.
There were plenty of times I felt like Audrey. We both wear masks. We both hide ourselves away. We both suffer from depression. And although I'm not as carefree as Audrey, I can see myself being that way if I wanted to build a bigger wall.
Our minds are our enemy and if we don't have a clear head, things could easily go wrong.
This book made me feel and you know those are the books worth reading. The last book I read that made me feel (besides Amber) was Whitney Barbetti's Ten Below Zero.
There are rare moments I read novels like this because I'm scared of reading books that will open my heart and make me ponder on things that reflect me.
This was a great novel and I'm so happy to have recieved a copy from Amber herself. Y'all should read it if you want a novel that makes you feel.

Warning: Unpopular Opinion!!!
I loved Puddle Jumping from this author, however I cannot say the same for this book. To be honest, I felt no connection for all the characters.
Not knowing the blurb got me confused in trying to decipher where the story was heading. Self-discovery? I don't know! At first, I'm thinking there might be some shocking revelation so I stayed on. To may my dismay, there was none.
Around 18% of the book - So obviously, I thought Cline knew. But no... Around 67% of this book, that same "secret" turns out to be her confession to Cline! What?!!
So, I gave up. No need to put myself in misery.

Era domingo y estaba un poco aburrida, tenía cosas que estudiar, pero yo de maja andaba haciendo de la vista gorda de ellos. Quería leer algo ligero, corto, romántico y fácil de leer, así que decidí irme por un libro de Amber L. Johnson,—y lo último que había publicado. La opción más segura. Y les digo que termine un poco más decepcionada que otra cosa. Cumplió con el objetivo de que me entretuvo unas horas (logré terminarlo), pero aun tratando un tema tan delicado como el trastorno ansiosodepresivo y personal de la escritora, lo sentí superficial y muy soso. No logro transmitir absolutamente nada. Lo que es una pena. Además, esto fue un instalove y a mí eso no me gusta… ¡Bah!
Todavía estoy esperando que publique A Million Drops of Rain… y estoy realmente, REALMENTE preocupándome por su bloqueo de escritor.
