Get back here you stupid cow! Jess Lincoln just wasn't cut out for this! She's a city girl from New York, used to cafe lattes in the morning and swanky bar Manhattans at night. But here she was, running from her past and her ex-husband. So why did she run to a cattle ranch of all things? Did she think she could just throw on some pumps and walk out to milk the cows? Was there anyone out here that could help her?
Wyatt Wade knew his way around a ranch. His Bear Shifter Clan specialized in long distance travel of troubling species. Water buffalo, oxen and even flocks of ostrich: if it walked on this earth, they could herd it. But this fiery little city slicker that just moved into the ranch down the way was something else. She was all thorns and tangle weeds, but his primal instinct didn't care. She needed help, and he needed her.
This 13,000 word short story features a Happily Ever After, No Cliffhanger and lots of graphic primal hotness.

Not feeling this one at all. The plot and characters are poorly written and there are numerous grammatical errors. No suspense or sense of urgency and most importantly, no details. The fight and shifts are glossed over and completed without any description of the events. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 0.5 stars.
How the hell did the hands from the neighboring ranch have time to do their work and all the work at her place? How were they hired without any talk of salaries? Why did she start asking the H who 'they' we're going to make her ranch profitable? You've known him for less than 24 hrs, talked with him twice and you're already talking "we"? Then the whole thing with her ex...SO many problems.
In Riding Bareback Jess Lincoln comes to Colorado to escape her abusive ex-husband and Wyatt Wade comes the first night to help her with her cattle and broken fences. The problem is Jess's ex shows up and starts causing trouble and Wyatt and his clan of bear shifters help her when her ex and his clan of wolf shifters attack.
The story has a good introduction, a problem and solution and a sweet ending for Jess and Wyatt. It is not a cliffhanger but it is a good lead into the rest of the series.
I had a few problems with this story. 1. Jess buys a ranch without ever seeing it, but she knows absolutely nothing about ranch living. 2. Her rancher neighbor comes to help out and brings half his family to work on her ranch. I'm not sure how they would have time to do their own ranch work if they were spending all their time at her place. 3. She was talking to him about how they could make her ranch profitable....yet they never once talked about her paying him and his family to work as hands on the property.
The story wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.
The plot for this book got me to read it, I was interested in how the author would tell the story. I was hooked after the first chapter and everything was going amazing but then the big reveal happened and it was lacklustre. No one reacted the way they should have reacted I they should have reacted I believe and and near the end it felt rushed. The last chapter was actually quite great and I believe it's what it saved it (it was a good sexy scene)
Jess is running from her former life and trying to start with a clean slate. So she buys a ranch that she has no idea what to do with (plus she doesn't even know how to ride a horse). She realizes she is in way over her head her first day there when everything that could go wrong does. Then Wyatt and this family shows up and help her out and offer to come back the following day to help out and work out an agreement for them to help her out. She agrees to the help not knowing that there is more behind them helping her out. But there is someone lurking in the shadows, to make sure that Jess will never have a moment of peace. Will this person destroy what Jess is trying to rebuild for herself or will Wyatt save her from her past?
Wyatt is a bear shifter. He finds Jess literally running after her cow trying to round them up in a rainstorm and offers to help her. There is an instant attraction to her and he will do what is necessary to make sure that she is safe and protected. So when her ex-husband, Conrad,a wolf shifter, shows up to destroy her and all that she is trying to do, Wyatt and his clan steps in to help her. Will Wyatt be able to protect her and get rid of the ex-husband before he has a chance to harm Jess?
This book was okay. It was a very quick read. To me there was some missing pieces that could have been added to story to bring it more together. I will be reading the rest of this series just to see how it goes. I also have a couple more books by this author so I will see how it goes with them. I kind of recommend this book to others.
I loved this story. Wish it could have been longer and more developed. But a great, fast read. Love the authors writing style. It was a well written, compelling story that grabs the readers attention right from the start. It had so much heat it made me sweat. There was plenty of steam as well. needs a bit of editing, but still... LOVE MUST READ !!
Jess divorced Conrad a mean wolf shifter. She bought a ranch with cattle deciding to start over. She knows nothing of ranching and meets Wyatt while trying to corrale her cattle during a storm. I liked this storyline and the characters, but Wyatt and Jess deserve a real HEA. This was more like a fizzled happy for now. I wanted a proposal and a true marking and mating.
I was reading this thinking oh she got divorced and got drunk made bad decisions..BIG DEAL!!! But then Wyatt and his friends/family come to help, although the part of the Ex being a shifter caught me off guard the story started pulling together and becoming AN AWESOME , JUST WOW!! I most definitely am not sorry I read it clear through!!
The whole shifter thing came out of left field. It was as if the author wanted to write a cowboy book and in the middle of writing it she decided she wanted to include shifters, but was too lazy to change anything of what she had already written. And it doesn’t come up until about 60% in.
There's no worldbuilding, the writing is sloppy and it lacks proper descriptions.
I couldn't keep up with this book. I'm mean she says he is a wolf and no one is shocked and then another character just says I'm a bear out of no where. I've never read a shifter book where they just go around telling people they are shifters . not my cup of tea.
We meet a woman starting over after her divorce. She buys a farm and has no clue what she is doing. As she is trying to get settled her ex shows up. What could go wrong.
Story had a lot of potential but was rushed and to short. There were editing issues along with little assumptions it was assumed the reader would make.
