It has been seventeen years since the event that killed most of the people on the planet. The violence that swept the country for so long is gone, and Ben and Lila are now living a peaceful existence in their Yellowstone community. But more trouble is looming, and when their daughter Katie, now sixteen and going by the name of Cat, and eleven other teens leave to explore the country, that trouble hits home. When two of the teens, one near death and the other deep in shock, return to Yellowstone a month later with the story that one member of the group is dead and the rest have scattered after a vicious attack by a new enemy, Ben and Lila know they must go after their daughter and her friends. But where? And are they weeks too late? Taking up from the events of Eden Lost and moving ahead eight years, Eden’s Legacy shifts between the adventures of Ben and Lila and those of their daughter Cat, a “different” girl who relates more easily to animals than she does to humans. The final chapter in the Eden Rising Trilogy, Eden’s Legacy has Ben and Lila meeting old friends, discovering what has happened across the rest of the globe, and asking the question: Will their new world ever know peace?

Another excellent chapter in The Eden series. This chapter revolved around the children of the survivors and their curiosity to find out what it was like beyond their small town. Many perils were encountered, and many old friends were met along the way. There were also new enemies and new trials to overcome.
I loved the first two books in this amazing series. (Eden Rising and Eden Lost) But I have to say, this book—book 3—may well have been my favorite.
Our characters Ben and Lila have grown, seven years have passed since Eden Lost, and the delightful little daughter they produced has become an amazing young woman.
I loved this character—and even though she was only sixteen, she astounded me with her ability to adapt, flow with nature, and protect herself and her loved ones without flinching or hesitation. While there were so many awesome high action, edge-of-your-seat scenes (they were sooooo good!), some of my favorite passages involved Cat (formerly “Katie”) interacting with nature and animals.
I loved the scene where she rescued the baby wild mountain lion, where she escaped the giant grizzly bear with her mother, and where she walked among the buffalo.
This serious and delightful young woman captured my heart with her down-to-earth spirit, her connection to nature, and her love of animals.
Then again, I also loved how she would draw her crossbow and pick off any villains who threatened her family or friends.
Like I said, this gal is a keeper. And I pray—oh so hard—that somehow Mr. Cunningham will find a way to extend this trilogy (or at least its characters) into another book, or two, or more!
One of the most interesting aspects of these post-apocalyptic stories is the intense sense of renewal and the “second chance” that mankind has to “get it right.” I loved that the earth regenerated and that the characters found a way to survive without the gadgets of today’s modern world. It makes one long for that life of simplicity…for the life on a ranch or farm, to raise one’s own produce and chickens and goats…or whatever it takes to live a wholesome life in the country. The ideals of peaceful communities co-existing and helping out their neighbors was also so very refreshing. I miss that kind of country life in today’s society, and hope that this book might even inspire others to think twice about their own lifestyles of incessant video games and texting. There is so much more to live for and to enjoy outside of electronics! I hope this inspires of Mr. Cunningham’s readers to get outside and take a walk in the woods, and to leave the cell phone at home. ;o)
Okay, off my own soapbox for a while and on to search for another book by this amazing author.
Highly recommended by award-winning author Aaron Paul Lazar.
This series is about a dystopian future caused by an EMP so powerful that out affected the entire world, and was able to short circuit the electrical signals in the brain killing those not protected some way. The main characters are a couple of 16 year old's and the stories of their survival. It spans a period of 20 years or so and once you get used to the authors style it reads pretty good and keeps you interested. There are a lot of liberties taken with the physics of the event and the effects on the earth but over all its a good story and kept me interested.
In Eden’s Legacy, book three of the fantastic Eden Rising series, we follow the next generation — the children born after the world changed — as they set off to explore the land to the west. But the adventure turns deadly, and lessons taught by their parents may not be enough to survive a new threat. The book delivers riveting, fast-paced post-apocalyptic thrills. And, perhaps, a glimmer of hope?
The series is excellent. I read all 3 books in 2 days. It amazed me that when you think you've lost everything, that you can find a way to get everything that's important. The way things are right now, I hope that some of us survive what's going to happen. It's a foregone conclusion.
This is the 8th book I have read Mr Cunningham I have enjoyed them all. But this one was really disappointing. Maybe he felt he had to.make up for !killing so many people? Don't get me wrong I did like much of it, but without giving away too much of the story, I just felt he went too goody. goody near the end.
This was a good ending to the trilogy. There was some pain but ultimately a strong dose of optimism. There wasn't a great conclusion for everyone but of course that is reality.
I’ve just finished the 3rd & final novel of this series & am sad to say goodbye to the main characters and their adventures in this compelling story. I highly recommend this series.
Follow the story of Ben, Lila and their daughter Cat following the release of a bomb that acted not only as an EMP, but killed most of the human race. Must read!
…this is the second time I have read this book— well these first three books (and I’m on to the fourth ). They — the story and the characters — tell exactly the kind of story I want to read. There’s guns and shooting and an entire world of death but there are a threads of peace and determination and genuine hope and success running throughout the stories. I love them. They are so popular that to find them, you just have to Google “Ben and Lila post-apocalyptic “ and that will get you the title. (Ben and Lila are the main characters). Don’t pass these by (this review is for #3 but it really includes all of them) Respectfully,
If you haven't already read the previous books you should, this one is a roller coaster of a ride and really make the first 2 make sense. I've read book 4 am also looking forward to book 5 out in 11/25. book 4 is awesome and am hoping book 5 comes up as good. This series was epic but if you like time travel check out the yestertime series by this author, truly gold. Just a final note, thank you Andrew for your excellent writing.
I have read many, many apocalyptic books. But none like these. One more book to go and I have no idea what I’m going to do. I guess I’ll try another one of his series. These books make you feel like your right there with the characters, living the hell that they are living.
The growth of Katie aka Cat, the budding love interest with Simon, the smelly bearded men attacking and killing, group of kids venture outside Yellowstone and it’s an eye opener, Cat meets a stranger whom reveals a confession, and more in this book.
I’m enjoying this series very much. It seems to be very well thought out. I don’t know if things would go as well as this when the actual end comes for us, but it would be nice to think so.
This has been a fantastic series and I thoroughly enjoyed each book. I always enjoy it when the author doesn’t leave any story lines dangling. Happy reading!
The series is great! Well written, exciting...I love how it takes you through 2 generations. I would love to see the series pick up with additional stories.
This is an Outstanding Book in the Eden Rising Series. It is well written, easy to follow and an exciting read. I have already downloaded Book # 4, Eden’s Survival.
Andrew Cunningham's EDEN'S LEGACY is the 3rd and final installment detailing the Post-apocalyptic travels, travails and triumphs of Ben & Lila and more so, in this volume, of their daughter Katie / 'Cat'. A world population of many billion has dwindled to thousands, but stability and an unsettled peace has taken root 17+ years post-event. Again, some old acquaintances reappear and our protagonists display the super human-esque abilities so often displayed by SHTF protagonists, but then you know that'll be on tap when you read the genre. Great literature? - No. Enjoyable escapism? - Absolutely!
