“When something is damaged or broken, the pieces can be put back together, but they will never be the same.”
KATIE: When I was left to raise my daughter alone, I decided dating just wasn't worth it. I never wanted my daughter to experience the kind of heartbreak only a man can give you and I didn't have the time, until Nicholas Sinclaire came walking into my life with his charming smile and his mischievous eyes. I just wish I would have known how it was going to end.
NICK: I knew she was it for me the moment I met her, but I had to leave. I had one more tour to do overseas and then I could come home to her for good. Little did we know, I wouldn't come back the same man. I was damaged beyond repair, so I pushed them away and hurt them. It didn't take me long to realize the mistake I had made. Now, I will stop at nothing to get them back in my life, but will Katie want my Damaged Pieces?

This book can be read as a standalone. Contemporary. Military romance!!!
**** WOW! I just finished this book in one sitting. First of all, I love the cover of this book – isn’t it pretty? But what’s inside is really amazing. Military romance has a soft spot in my heart. This book is no exception. I adore Nick and Katie’s story and their remarkable journey to find love.
“My only wish in this world is to make you smile like this for the rest of your life”
Katie is a young single mom to a daughter name Abbi. Katie’s boyfriend couldn’t kick her out of the house fast enough when he found out she was pregnant. The prologue really gutted me – it was hard to read his harsh words and thank god we don’t have to hear much of him after that. Ten years later, Katie has moved on and is doing well. She vowed to keep her life simple, raising her daughter and steering clear of all men to protect both of their hearts. Nick is a Marine. He also happened to be the son of a veterinarian Katie works for. Nick comes and goes but he has always been around. Katie is attracted to Nick but she had placed him on firmly a friend zone. What Katie doesn’t know is that Nick is in love with her and so on this last break before going back to Iraq, he is determined to make her his. Nick loves Abbi dearly and he wants to make a life with them when he gets back from his last tour. But life threw him a curve ball – Nick thought he was protecting Katie but he broke her heart in the process. The one thing that Katie fears the most – and the one person she loves and trusted ripped her heart into pieces. By the time Nick realized his mistake it might be too late… Can Katie forgive and trust him gain? Can she accept his damaged pieces and put him back together whole?
“When you miss me, just look up into the sky and remember, I’m like a star sometimes you can’t see me, but I’m always there”
The author did a great job with all characters. I adore Katie and Nick. She is sweet, strong but also with a vulnerable heart. Nick is a hot Marine, irresistible, and probably can have any woman he wants. But he is sweet and protective, and how he adores and cherishes Abbi melted my heart…. Totally swoons over this man – best boyfriend material for sure. The chemistry between Katie and Nick is scorching hot. The romance came on rather quickly but they have been friends for quite sometime so it came as no surprise. This book has a little bit of everything – plenty of hot loving-making scenes. There is angst, tears, heart-breaks but also light-hearted moments and a happy ending. I also enjoyed the secondary characters. Lexie seems to be a spit fire and has no fear of speaking her mind. She loves to taunt her big brother Nick. Zack seems to be a nice guy… sounds like he might just be the one that can tame her. I am so glad the author will give Lexie and Zack their own story. I was thinking this at the end of the book. I like Allie’s debut novel Scattered Pieces but I really love Damaged Pieces. Gorgeous writing, emotional story, great banters, beautiful characters, and a perfect ending. Lovely read for a relaxing Saturday. LOVED it! I would say to the author always believe in yourself, do what you love, keep on writing more wonderful love stories … This is a beautiful love story and I can’t wait for the next installment.
“I think most people search their whole lives to find what we’ve already found”
Can Nick get anymore perfect - I mean, Katie has a 10 years daughter who is rightfully so, the love of her life and she doesn't trust anyone, let alone a guy, but that doesn't faze Nick at all. Instead he keeps putting everything he has and everything he is on the line, time and time again showing Katie that he's the man for her.
An unexpected College pregnancy has made Katie wary of everything - her whole life, much to her friends dismay, revolves around her daughter Abbi and her job at the Animal hospital. That is until Nick shakes things up.
Home on leave from the Marines, Nick forgets about everything that he should be doing and should be thinking and focuses on one thing - Katie and making her his.
But he has one final tour to go...
Allie does a brilliant job (again) of sucking you in and making you read until the early hours of the morning while you hold your breath praying for a happy ending.
This is the first book by Allie Able that I've read ~ I absolutely loved it! Do not start this book unless you have time to read the whole book because you won't be able to put it down. The two main characters, along with the supporting characters, are well written and believable. Katie, is a single mom to a 10 year old girl whom she idolizes. She's feisty and works as a veterinarian. Nick is a hot, alpha-marine, who has completely fallen for Katie. When the two get together the pages heat up and sizzle. Will their relationship survive what's next?
I highly recommend this book and can hardly wait for the next one! Hurry Allie!
After reading Scattered Pieces, I couldn't wait for this book to read about Nick and Katie. Katie is a single mom to 10 yr old Abbi, who is so adorable. Katie was dumped when she was pregnant with Abbi by a complete moron. She finished college with the help of her parents, but she always made sure no matter what, Abbi was her top priority. Nick is home for a few weeks before he goes back for his last tour in the Marines. He and Katie have been friends for the past 6 months, but there was always an attraction. Katie just kept him in the friend zone.
One night things changed and feelings were revealed and I will say this..I LOVE Nick! He wasn't used to relationships either and the was he was with Katie was so sweet. What was even sweeter, was the way he was with Abbi. It was great seeing Grant, Summer and Lexi along with others in this story as they played a good role in Nick and Katie's life. They knew Nick had to go back and him leaving proved how much they meant to each other. They decided to take a chance on love and planned for so much when he returned.
Unfortunately Nick is injured and that's the turning point for them. I was so upset with how he was treating Katie. Poor Abbi felt it too and I wanted to slap him a few times. He felt he was damaged and they would be better off without him. Do they make it? You have to find out. Is their relationship worth fighting for? Get your copy today and find out. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series, which will be Lexi's book :) So far, I am a fan of the author and I look forward to reading more from her :)
I thought I loved Grant and Summer!!! And then I met Nick and Katie! Ok I still love Grant and Summer but you know what I mean. I'm a sucker for a military romance, always have been! And this do NOT disappoint! I loved Katie from the moment Summer got Duke from her in Scattered Pieces and was so excited to read her story! And Nick, sexy Nick!!! They are perfect for each other, until life throws a curveball. Or so Nick thinks! And Nick's a man so eventually we have to forgive him but still. He's a bonehead! You'll have to read why to understand and I do understand! But I love him and Katie so much it's hard to not want to smack Nick! But after Nick finally realizes what he's doing he becomes the Nick I love again!!! And low and behold these two are perfection! I sit here and really think and im not mad at Nick, I love Nick. And I love Katie for being so strong and for being the woman that she is. This quote from the story pretty much sums up all my feelings in this amazing read! I'll leave you with this! " "But everyone is a little broken or damaged, it's how you put yourself back together that really counts." That speaks all the words I never could
A great, sweet, tearful, and overall wonderful sequel to Scattered Pieces. Katie was burned by a man in her past and left alone e to raise her daughter alone. She lacked trust in faith in men in general. Nick, a Marine, always thought he would be in the military longer, but discovered more awaited him in his hometown. I am drawn to characters like Katie, I'm not sure why, maybe it has to do with showing that single mothers can be strong, make it through basically anything, and find love.
I received and ARC for an honest opinion. This book had my drawn in with the instant connection between Nick and Katie. I loved how Nick was a jump right in and go until he wasn't. I wanted to reach into the book and smack him upside the head. I started to cry in this book when it got to the intense bit. I loved the first Cape Isle Book and this book was even better. I can't wait for more.
Damaged Pieces was not what I expected. This was a nicely told fast paced love story about Katie and Nick. It followed their path from friends to lovers. The writing was completely believable as were the characters. Damaged Pieces is a wonderful story that will leave you feeling glad that you took Katie and Nick's journey into lover.
It just keeps getting better! I am officially hooked! Allie is booming with these stories & I can't wait for the next one! She has become my one click without having to think about it! This is a must read!!!
Love this book, everything about it. Nick was amazing, he wants it he gets it :) I read this book in a day, as I wanted to know what was going to happen. I say read this book so worth it xx
Katie was a great character i loved how much she cared for her daughter and put her in front of everything even at times her own happiness which is basically what any mother would do. The fact that she has been raising her daughter on her own because her pos baby daddy left (cannot stand people that do that) is amazing. Now Nick of course we know from scattered pieces and I liked him in that book especially all the crap he gave Grant about following Summer around like a puppy. He ends up the same way. But of course they have the marines issues= that can cause some problems especially for a mother who has sworn off men. I don’t think I liked this one more than Grant and Summer I really don’t think ANY couple can beat them for me they were my favorite out of every single book I have read but these two are a great couple.

“I think most people search their whole lives to find what we’ve already found”
This book follows the story od Katie and Nick. Katie is a single mother of a ten-year-old girl. She has her heart broken from her past relationship and she promised herself that she will protect her and her daughter´s heart from any man that comes to her, until Nick comes. Nick is a marine and such a nice guy and really sexy. He is really attracted to Katie and now that they have develop some kind of relationship he is determined to get out of the marines and come back to the love of his life. But when everything doesn’t go as planned, their happy ever after vanished. When tragedy strikes, their hearts got broken. I really enjoyed this book because it gets really emotional and the love story is so real and in some parts it also breaks my heart. I loved both character because they have suffer so much in life but when they get together they make each other complete. The way the author writes and describe their emotions is just amazing and you get the feeling you are inside the book, living with the characters. There is also the bonus that if you read book one in the series you get to know what happens to the other charcaters and get some hints of the character to come in future book. Book two in the Cape Isle Series, this book can be read as a standalone. In my opinion is good you read the books in order because as the series continues the book may contain spoiler of the previous couple. The book doesn’t have cliffhangers but it makes you want to read the other books.
Let me start off by saying that the Dedication of this book was one of the most honest dedications I have read. Loved it!
This was a good second book in this series. I did enjoy it. This story begins along the same lines as Ms. Able’s Scattered Pieces. A really terrible thing happens to our heroine, Katie. However, she picks herself up, dusts off, and carries on. While the idea is similar to the first, this story line is entirely different.
Again, let me reiterate, that I did like reading this book. That being said, I have a few issues with it. Our hero, Nick, is entirely too fluent with the lovey-dovey words. I mean that everything he says sounds too contrived when he is talking to Katie. On the flip side, he is awesome at the dirty talk!
The editing was another issue. I counted one time that the word “lose” was used properly. Every other time the word “lose” was supposed to be there it was spelled “loose”. Maybe I am being nit-picky but it drives me crazy knowing the author probably paid for editing and didn’t get thief money’s worth!
All in all I enjoy her work and am looking forward to reading book 3!
This was such an awesome read but it was hard to get through at time. Allie portrayed every character exactly right. You have Katie who is a single mom who doesn't date because she doesn't want men in and out of her daughter's life and because she is afraid of getting hurt again. You have Nick who is loveable but then he gets hurt and he is dealing with anger, denial and later acceptance. You see all the emotions being played out as if these were real people. I won't lie and say that Nick morphed into pond scum at one point in the book but that just shows that Allie was able to bring the right emotions to light. I also teared up a few times and temporarily stopped reading. Once I calmed down I picked my kindle back up to finish reading it and I'm glad I did.
You have the same characters from the previous books so you see how well they are doing and Allie does a good job of planting seeds for the next book in her series.
I am honored to have received an ARC for this book and reviewed it for Bookwhores Addicts. I would have still bought this book if it wasn't an arc and I can't wait to read the next one. Allie Able is on my must read list from now on.
I Had to read this after reading how awesome Scattered Pieces was, I was not disappointed. Allie Able sure knows how to break your heart!!
Wow, this book was so heartbreakingly beautiful, I loved Katie and Nick..
Nick he loved Katie so deeply, that it broke my heart, watching him come to his decision, He wanted to protect Katie and Abbi, He wanted them to half more than what he came home as, And for that i loved him even more, even if it was stupid!!
Katie, Bless her, she was an amazing mum, and so devoted to Abbi, She tried to stay away from Nick, but with true love, its bound to happen!
My heart Broke in so many places whilst reading this book, yet there were small things in the book that made me so happy, Loved how Nick was with Abbi, Lets face it, who can resist a hot Military Man with a soft spot for a child?? None of us!!!
She did it again... She ripped through my heart strings, punched me in the gut, and Shedded me of tears. This woman can write a love story, no doubt about that. Her characters have amazing stories that scream to be told. They're stories of loss and heartbreak, abuse and friendship, they are everything a romance should be. When I found out this was going to be a military romance, I was scared but also happy. Military romances scare me, because they always pack a punch and never want to finish them because I'm afraid of what my happen to the men I'm falling for. But I stuck it out and finished Nick and Katie's story and boy am I glad I did. A mother finally starting a life for herself and bringing a man to the table. And a military man who will rip your heart apart, only to put it back together again. An amazing journey, and I can't wait for the next one!! ♡
I finished this book in less than 24 hours. It sucked me in from the very first page and took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I laughed, I cried several times, I was frustrated, and I swooned. I loved seeing Nick and Katie's feelings for each other develop during the time they spent together before he had to leave to go overseas. It was heartbreaking to see Nick struggle so badly with what happened to him when he was in Iraq and pushing everyone away. He was really frustrating at times but I understand why he reacted the way he did. I loved that the couple from the first book was included in this one and I was able to catch up with what was going on with them. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the next one in the series!
Damaged pieces is the second book in this series and follows on nicely from the first book, it's sweet easy read with a touch of humour but it also has big topics that will have u breaking out the tissues!! I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster with this book! I don't often cry while reading but damn you just can help it with this one I was so drown into the story and characters I felt like I was breathing it!!! When. The hard part was done I just had to step back and breath for a minute cause I felt wounded for Katie and Abbi!! One of the best books I have read this year by far!! A most read!!! Thank you Allie Able I floved it!!!
What a wonderful heartwarming read this stand-a-lone novel is. We all have heard stories about the trails, heartache, change, anger, abandonment our soldiers face when they return from overseas. Generation after generation of soldiers. Few writers are able to capture that and bring it together so tastefully with the story of a woman who has also dealing with her own version of hell and pain that she is also recovering. Broken promises. Broken hearts. Trust destroyed. A touching story of an awakening of love deeply touching two unaware of the future and the impact it would have and how quickly thing could change. Are they both in too many damaged pieces to survive? Only time will tell.
I adored book one in this series, so much so, Allie will forever be an instant one click for me. But book 2? Whole different level of amazing.
Katie and Nick had a difficult story to tell, both were scarred by life, Nick also scarred by war. I needed them to find thier happy. I was hooked with every single word, hanging on to everything because they NEEDED to find thier happy.
Allie has an amazing ability to write an engaging and emotional story that captures the heart and takes you along for the ride.
I was given a copy in return for an honest review LOVED Katie & Nick's story! This story had me hooked from the very beginning and I finished it in one sitting. I loved how it had it all...romance, heartbreak, forgiveness. I will be on the look out for more books by Allie Able! Stars 5 #AbFabJenee
Holy cow!!!!!!!!! What a fantastic book. It was well written with a good plot, conflict, description of characters, and the flow of the story was exceptional. The story is written in such a way that the reader feels like they are right there with the main characters. :-) copyright of night owl romance https://www.nightowlreviews.com/v5/Re...
My second read by this author. This was a sweet love story with little to no angst. Although the story was predictable, sometimes you just need a lighthearted feel good read. This delivered exactly that.
Omg just read the prologue and you'll be hooked. What a amazing heart felt story. Loved it loved the characters. Could connect well with them. Will be stalking Allie for more books. Awesome read well written and wonderful characters.
I read Scattered Pieces and Damaged Pieces back to back and fell in love with these characters! I can not wait to read more from Allie! I cried for Katie and Nick. Sometimes you need help healing the damaged pieces and I was so glad Nick finally saw that!
