Positives

This book offers a unique layout and structure for readers. Evan combines a variety of quotes, personal insights, and information from his clients, related to developing and implementing your one word. Due to this unique format, you as the reader are getting more than “just” Evan’s thoughts, you’re getting a compilation of valuable information. I also love the chapter summaries at the end of each section as it allows me to quickly go over all the important information I want to take note of without having to flip through the pages. This is especially important since each section has so many valuable ideas and activities for you to work through! The most unique positive that I don’t think many other authors can compete with, is that Evan is a YouTuber and provides a variety of video content, some of which is related to this book specifically. Evan started a weekly YouTube live stream during which he discusses a section of the book and offers a Q&A for viewers. Now that is what I call added value! Here is his live stream of Chapter two of this book!

Negatives

One of the issues I could see people having with this book is that depending on the reader, they wouldn’t like the style and format of Evan’s book. If you are familiar with his video content, you know that he is a master of compiling content from various sources and sharing key pieces of wisdom. I enjoy the format in his videos, but personally didn’t like it as much in a written format. There is a lot of information that Evan compiles from clients of his, and although I found it helpful at times, I really just wanted to hear what he had to say. So, this specific critique is not necessarily a negative. It simply depends on the reader and their preferences.

Who should read this?

First of all, any Evan Carmichael fans and subscribers should definitely read this book to support his channel and all the great FREE content he provides daily! If you want to learn more about Evan’s personal story and career, this book is for you! I also think that if you’re trying to start-up your own business or personal brand you should consider reading this book. I say this because Evan takes you through the process of finding your key values that will help you understand how you want to position your business or brand in the market. Also, if you are trying to re-brand yourself or your company, this book offers first-hand accounts of businesses and how they used their one word to market themselves.

I did really enjoy this book, because of several reasons. I have joined the authors Youtube channel for many years and I did not regret reading the book. The principles are easy to grasp and I like the wording and ways that he communicates his ideas. I like the book because the author has proven what he preaches and I like it because it's done in a down to earth kind of way that we all can understand and enjoy. I like the truth that the one word carries and it made me look at my own life and what my word would be. I was able to look at my own life trying to understand my habits of doing things and also I felt like I was able to refocus a bit in my daily practices. I real good book that I would like to recommend to everyone that would like to read a book that is good and that they can trust will challenge them and teach them important lessons for life.

Ui em sách này truyền cảm hứng khủng khiếp các bạn ạ

Mình đã đọc được 1 nửa rồi, sau đó cảm thấy muốn đọc lại, nên lại đọc lại 1 lần nữa từ đầu đến cuối. Vấn đề là khi đọc rồi sẽ muốn đọc tiếp đọc hoài vì được truyền cảm hứng rất hay ý.

Theo lời giới thiệu thì em ý dành cho những bạn đang có ý định khởi nghiệp, giúp bạn xây dựng mô hình kinh doanh và quản lý cùng phát triển một cách hiệu quả và thành công hơn. Điểm đặc biệt là tất cả đều xoay quanh "Từ khóa".

"Nếu bạn chỉ được dùng một từ duy nhất để miêu tả bản thân và sự nghiệp của mình, thì từ đó sẽ là gì?"

Ban đầu mình cũng không biết từ khóa của chính mình đâu, sau khi đọc sách và nghiền ngẫm thì chốt lại đó chính là "yêu thương". Muốn yêu thương mọi người và được yêu thương thiệt nhiều, cũng muốn lan tỏa tình yêu ấy để bạn cảm thấy cuộc sống này nhẹ nhàng hơn, dễ chịu hơn và đáng yêu hơn nữa. Rồi chợt nhận ra tất cả những gì mình làm trước giờ đều xoay quanh từ khóa này mà chính mình cũng không biết, nên cảm thấy có một sự vi diệu không hề nhẹ ở đây hihi

Có lẽ trước giờ bạn cũng như mình, chưa từng quan tâm đến từ khóa, cũng không cảm thấy em ý có gì quan trọng. Nhưng từ hồi đọc sách này nè, rồi được tiếp xúc với một số sự kiện và câu hỏi có liên quan đến từ khóa, mình bắt đầu nhận ra em ý sẽ là kim chỉ nam cực kì hữu ích cho cuộc sống nè. Hãy thử đặt câu hỏi xem từ khóa của bạn là gì? Giả bộ đang có một tình huống nào đó phân vân, bạn sẽ lựa chọn theo đúng phương châm của từ khóa của mình chứ? Điều này sẽ giúp bạn dễ dàng hơn trên con đường bạn đang đi, và cũng tiếp thêm rất nhiều sức mạnh và niềm tin cho chính bạn nữa.

Mình thì nghĩ cách để tìm ra từ khóa là hãy tập quan sát bản thân bạn, liên tục đặt ra câu hỏi cho những việc mình đang làm nè, suy nghĩ về cảm nhận của bạn... chung quy lại là để bạn hiểu hơn về bản thân mình ấy. Hiểu được rồi thì mọi thứ sẽ dễ dàng hơn nè.

Mình khá thích cách tác giả phân tích và thể hiện quan điểm, đi cùng là những câu trích dẫn truyền cảm hứng và những câu chuyện, bài học cùng ví dụ về những cá nhân, doanh nghiệp nổi tiếng ý. Tóm lại là cách dẫn dắt cực kì hay, logic và thuyết phục.

Và với mình thì cuốn sách này không chỉ dành cho những start-up, những bạn đang muốn khởi nghiệp, mà còn phù hợp để áp dụng trong môi trường làm việc nè, với cả hội nhóm khi bạn đi học, và nhất là với chính bản thân bạn. Sẽ có rất nhiều ý tưởng bá đạo và gợi ý hay ho được kể trong sách mà mình tin là bạn có thể áp dụng đâu đó cho cuộc sống của mình nè.

Cuối cùng là chúc bạn sớm tìm ra được từ khóa của bạn. Còn nếu tìm ra được rồi thì hãy chia sẻ với mình nhe ^^

A Well-Crafted Book Packed with Insights

Author Evan Carmichael is a wise businessman who is connected to the marketplace and has a proven track record of creating profitable businesses. In YOUR ONE WORD, Carmichael guides the reader to focus on the single word for their life and their business. When you identify this word, you can focus your efforts.

This book is well-designed and easy to read with callouts, headlines and information in bold print combined with inspirational quotations spread throughout the book. As Carmichael says, “Understand that every successful person was once this fat kid when they got started. And as with any skill, they learned, practiced and got better. Consistently. They found their greatness. They didn’t let the #LittleMan hold them back. They believed in themselves. So they succeeded. What do you see in the mirror? If you see greatness, you’re ready for your One Word.” (Page 8).

YOUR ONE WORD is a well-written business book. The contents will only be valuable for readers who apply the information to their daily life. I highly recommend this book.

I got to say it became on of my favorite business books. And this fell on my lap in a time when I needed it the most. If you are feeling stuck and not sure whether to take that one idea and going for it this book is going help. This book isn’t like step 1, step 2 and gives pages of false dreams but actually gives you real guidance. I also like reading about famous well-known entrepreneurs that made it but also what their one word was. I also like how Evan used #believe in his business. This book has some really, really great concepts to help entrepreneurs stay focused and get profitable. I'm a serious skeptic when it comes to anything that sounds self-helpy, but I genuinely believe that Charmichael has some great ideas in here that I'm very much looking forward to implementing.

The only reason why I'm giving it four stars instead of five is that there's a lot of unnecessary fluff in this book. All of its great advice could have been told in half the pages it currently takes, leaving me with more time to start implementing everything I can't wait to implement!

This is the book that has changed my life. My one word is #Passion. I feel that’s what makes me get up in the morning, and the reason why I keep doing the things I love. You can tell them difference between someone who is or is not passionate.

Anyway, this book broke it down - from understanding my core, values, setting a campaign and moving forward. I now want to give talks on this concept.

I found this book by accident. I was actually looking for another book with a similar title (don’t bother, it was bad) and came across this one. Well described, well laid out. This book not only takes its reader on a path to learn why he should choose a word, how to do it and then how to build a business around it. I would definitely recommend this to a newer business owner. There were a lot of great business-building thoughts throughout the text.

As for me, between the two books, I think I may have just discovered my word... and it was sitting right in front of me the whole time. #positivity

The best business book of this century for principle-guided management.

Read it, then work consistently shaping your business under the principles that will arise from your One Word. Under the guidance of your One Word, you will uncover who you are, and will naturally define the pReadrinciples your company will stand for. You will filter all your decisions through the lense of your one Word. You will also run the core areas of your business through the same lens, such as, marketing sales, your operations, etc. You will quickly know who is not aligned by the same principles.

You will be able to make employee-exit decisions without second-guessing yourself.  I hope this book and the aids you will find online about it will be your guide for the rest of your business career.

I purchased the audiobook sometime in September and went threw it about 4 times by end of the month. It truly came at the right time. I have had so many experiences in life that drove my interest and gave me passion but never understood the purpose behind it all. Evan truly helped me to put things in perspective and to start to rebrand my presents online and better than that focus my energy to fulfill my God-given purpose. I know that my entire life my choices and my passions all surround the idea of #BE. To be confident, passionate and strong, in the true freedom of being myself. I really enjoyed this book. It's a great book for those who have dreams and keep making excuses to why they don't want to start. Evan helps you find your one word that is constant, something that is more than a word, it's who you are in the inside, your inner core. The forever thing that stays within you! He includes quotes from some of his favorite entrepreneurs and little inserts about how they found their word and how it's helped them be successful in their business. I highly recommend this book! It's a great book to go back to and gain momentum if you're feeling stuck.

Evan Carmichael's focus on Your One Word is both its strength and its downfall. Carmichael takes a 360 degree approach to applying your one word to every aspect of your business. Which is great to see how a focus on a single word can simplify and structure a business so thoroughly. At the same time, I felt the near shotgun approach was so broad I had a difficult time digesting it all.

Der 1 Teil des Buches ist so wertvoll, dass absolut jeder davon wissen sollte. Das Wissen das hier enthalten ist, ist so unglaublich wichtig dass ivh das Buch an mehr Leute verschenken werde.
Die späteren Teile des Buches sind für Entrepreneure genauso wichtig für alle anderen ist es nicht mehr sonderlich interessant.

Good book. Lots of focus on entrepreneurial examples. But that's what Evan's stated goal in life is.
Great stuff for others too. Everyone, whether or not an entrepreneur can apply these life lessons in what they do!
