In the male dominated sport of Formula 1 racing, Samantha ‘Sam’ Dupree is struggling to make her mark against the boys. She hears about a driver who is making a name for herself in NASCAR and goes to check her out. Little does she know that she’s in for the race of her heart. Addison McCloud wants nothing more than to drive. She doesn’t care about fame or fortune; she just wants to be fast enough to get herself and her family away from her abusive father. Meeting Sam, changes her world and revs her life into overdrive. When the two women meet, sparks flies like the race cars that they drive. Will they be able to steer their relationship into something more and win the race, or will their families make them crash and burn. The boys of Formula 1 are going to learn that Southern girls are a force to be reckoned with.
Jennis Slaughter (1958-still kicking) was born in Leesburg, Florida and had a fairly uneventful childhood. Could be found sitting up in a Magnolia tree reading or tramping through the woods. Had (and still has) an overactive imagination so writing seemed to be the perfect outlet (since Hollywood didn't call). She prefers writing mysteries and drama and has been called 'The Angst Queen' more than once. She is a firm believer in happy endings and true love.
I really enjoyed this book. Sure, I don't know much about F1 racing and parts of the book were a little far fetched, however I found it to be a refreshing romance with a splash of action.
Loved this book! I grew up in the racing world of stock cars and NASCAR. I knew nothing about Formula 1 racing. The chemistry was electric from the start. I was hooked from start to finish.
Loved reading this book! great characters, great story line about women in a male dominated field of sport. Really worth the read, would make a great easter present for anyone. :)
