Dollycas’s Thoughts

Things are a bit frosty in town and not just the weather. Mayor Frost is not seeing eye to eye with the city council. Several approached him right in the Brew Ha Ha Coffee Shop to voice their displeasure. At least he wasn’t too upset to walk into Curio Finds to purchase an unusual snow globe and tell Cami to stop by his office later. When she gets there she is horrified to find him dead with his new snow globe the apparent murder weapon.

I love so many things about this series, the setting is so unique and every time I read one I want to buy everyone on my Christmas list a snow globe, but can never find ones as special at those in Curio Finds.

The characters continue to evolve in each story and I truly enjoyed this time as the circle of the 3 girlfriends is growing to be a circle of 6 friends. They are all fun and very engaging and realistically written. The author also keeps the series fresh by introducing new people that expand the suspect pool. A diverse group of tourists, local townspeople and one that is surrounded in mystery.

This time I figured out early why the mayor was killed but there were so many twists and turns I was completed stumped as to who the actual killer could be. I felt a little smart that I was ahead of Cami in one aspect and felt a cozy rush as I tried to sleuth out the guilty party before she did, but I ended up being right there with her at the end. It was a complete surprise but still made absolute sense.

Frosty The Dead Man is definitely by favorite book in the series. It is a wonderful winter read, set right before Christmas. Cozy lovers are sure to pleased!

Let it snow globe, let it snow globe, let it snow globe!

FROSTY THE DEAD MAN, the third installment in the Snow Globe Mysteries, once again has us in the world of Camryn Brooks, and her friend Pinky Nelson who own the connecting stores of Curio Finds and Brew-Ha-Ha. I am and have been in love with these shops since the first book. They are exactly the types of small businesses I love to visit. (Sadly, in our real word, these shops are having a hard time of it because of the big box stores, but at least I get to enjoy them in the fantastic world of cozy mysteries!) I also really enjoy that so much time is spent in the stores. In some stories, the protagonist is away from her business more than she is there.

This is by far the best book in the series to date. I know I say that with a lot of the books I review, but having started many series from the very first book I can see where the author has grown and enriched their series. And that is very true here. Author Christine Husom has really taken this series and raised it up. In FROSTY THE DEAD MAN, there are more suspects than in the other books in the series, as well as more plot twists to keep readers guessing.

Altogether an enjoyable tale, with an ending that took me by surprise, FROSTY THE DEAD MAN was a great addition to the Snow Globe Mystery series.

Make sure to check out the back of the book for a fun and simple snow globe craft!

I enjoyed this short series and I'm sad to see it end, because there are so many ways for this group of characters to go. I hope to see the story line pick up in the future.

"Frosty the Dead Man" is a cozy mystery. It's the third book in the series. You don't need to read the previous novels to understand this one, and this story didn't spoil the previous whodunits.

This was a clue-based mystery, but the clues were so obvious that I was able to determine whodunit before the murder even happened. The heroine asked the exact same questions as the police even though she had the critical clues that they didn't. I'd have enjoyed the story more if she had been carefully exploring the real clues instead of accidentally doing some things right.

Still, she was a likable character and didn't do any harm with her questioning. I did think it odd that she took precautions against danger when visiting the victim's kin but didn't do so when going to question certain suspects alone in their homes.

There was a minor amount of bad language. There was no sex. Overall, I'd recommend this fun suspense novel.

I received this book as a review copy from the publisher.

I really enjoy this series. Book number three does not disappoint.
I love the setting of the small town, the snow globe shop and the adjacent coffee shop.
The characters are well written and the whodunit was first rate.
I hope to read future books in the series.

Unfortunately there were only 3 books to this series. Mayor Lewis Frost has ask Camyrn Brooks to run for council because of her background and that she would be a good fit. She receives several snow globes that her parents had been ordering and one was a snowglobe with a Bear in it. To her it was scary but to the Mayor he like it and bought from her.

Later, when Cami goes to his office to discuss the proposal she locates the Mayor hit over the head by the snowglobe he had just bought from her. She does get more snowglobes with bears in them and notices that one person keeps coming back and so she offers her a job part time in her store. In the meantime she tries to figure out who decided to knock off the mayor with her snowglobe.

This weekend I read the third book in Christine Husom's Snow Globe Shop Mystery series, Frosty The Dead Man. Set in December and smack dab in the middle of the holiday snow globe rush, the local mayor winds up dead shortly after an argument in the coffee shop, Cami finds herself in the thick of it soon after, dealing with stock and inventory woes, mysterious customers, the mayors death and a new employee, not the way Cami had envisioned the holiday season to be. Interesting premise and a cozy mystery for sure, holiday themed and ready to read December 6th.

This one was just annoying. Okay, you can make a snowglobe-only specialty shop, okay the characters seem like real people, but by the third chapter a reader knew it was a smuggling operation but the protagonist didn't cotton on until the second to last chapter. Nope!

Just fun! The victim is the mayor (named Frosty) and the murder weapon is a snow globe. There is an errant diamond on the floor which gave me a hint early on but I didn't pick up on it! Everything is happening in the shopping community during the hectic days leading up to Christmas. It kind of reminded me of Nancy Drew with three single women {Camryn, Erin, Pinky} (shopkeepers) and three single men {Clint, Jake, Mark} (law enforcement) who organically team up because of the crime. Also, there is an ancillary character named Nicoline. She is new to town and the three women are concerned about her welfare. Camryn is our main character, however, and we see everything through her eyes. The solving of the crime made sense. Overall, I just enjoyed reading about the nice (for the most part!) community of Brooks Landing.

Review:

Frosty the Dead Man is the third book in this fun cozy mystery series. I had a hard time when I first heard of this series envisioning a store that sold snow globes. Well, author Christine Husom not only pulled it off, but this installment is the best yet. What a quaint and enjoyable town Brooks Landing is and I for one, love visiting it. Camryn Books runs an adorable snow globe store and she is one fun and fabulous main character. Along with her friends and family, Camryn is once again tangled up in a murder. And once again she is able to sift through the clues and find the killer.

When Mayor Lewis Frost, known as Frosty, stops by and asks Camryn to consider becoming a member of the city council, she is a bit shocked. Yet after another councilman had just stormed off, maybe it should not come be that much of a surprise. Camryn has to think about Frosty’s offer and talk it over with her friends. When she goes to talk to him at his office she not only finds Frosty dead, murdered, but it looks like the murder weapon is a snow globe he was actually interested in when he was in her shop. And if that is not bad enough, there is a huge diamond on the floor as well. Why are people interested in this odd snow globe she has gotten in, with three bears and a man with a gun? What is going on that so many people would want that one, when she has so many other wonderful ones.

Intrigue, shady people, questions, politics, and snow globes, what a combination. I love the characters populated this fictional town. Each book in this series is better than the last. A bit more suspense in the one, but I was able to figure out a few things before Camryn. I did not have it all figured out though and enjoyed getting all the answers along with her. Pinky is a great friend and the duo run a fun combined store. I enjoyed the addition of a few more new characters and the store atmosphere leaves things open for strangers to come into the story without things seeming odd.

Frosty the Dead Man is the most exciting and intriguing in this wonderful series. Definitely the best yet. No matter the season, stopping by Camryn’s snow globe store is a treat. Camryn has to shake things up and see where they fall and she does it so well. Author Christine Husom has written another sparkling cozy that shines no matter what time of year you read it. You do not have to read this series in order as they all work as standalone reads, but they are all worth the time. And it will be a pleasure for sure. I cannot wait for the next installment of this fantastic series.

In this holiday-inspired mystery, Cami Brooks finds herself smack dab in the middle of another murder mystery after she walks into a meeting with Mayor Lewis Frost and finds him dead with what looks to be the snow globe she sold him hours prior, used as the murder weapon and a rather large diamond on the floor. The last thing Cami needs at this time of year is another dead body on her hands, especially while she is dealing with strange customers, bizarre merchandise, a new slightly-off employee and the holiday shopping rush. However, Cami must figure out what is going on before things around her shatter...

Frosty the Dead Man is the third book in the Snow Globe Shop mystery series. I have had this series on my to-read list for a while, so I was excited to be able to read and review this book. I haven't read either of the other two in the series, but I needn't worry because this book was easy to follow and gave just enough backstory for me to follow the series' plot line, and held back just the right amount to hook me into buying the firs two to go back and read! I found the cast of characters to be warm and friendly and a fun group, and I especially like the romance that is being set up for Cami. I found the mystery an easy one to figure out, but knowing where the story was headed didn't spoil the journey for me. I really enjoyed this book and found it to be a fast read. Be sure to check out the back of the book for a fun snow globe craft!

One extra star because I figured out the reveal on page 275 way back on page 30.
Four stars for the cozy-mystery crew of friends and for the way snow globes are absolutely integral to the plot (unlike book 2).

If Cami was suspected in book 1, and the help was suspected in book 2, then it's Pinky's turn to be a suspect in this book, right? Wrong! It's Pinky's turn for a romance! It doesn't take up too much page time, but it sure is fun. Must have next book, to see where this goes! Next book is likely due in December, so snow-globe in the snow? maybe.

When someone smashes the mayor's new snow globe over his head, it's obviously a political move. Or a love interest. Or a family drama gone sour. So many suspects! Cami has several lists going on. (and I figured it out, yay me!)

Holiday season means plenty of work, and a temp worker - who has a bruise on the side of her face? From walking into a door frame? Hm, "uncle" better watch his step. New list: Is Miss Temp Worker lying about where she lives, a thief, abused and in need of help, afraid of police? If afraid, is theft or abuse or both the reason?

Who are all the weird customers, holiday shoppers or something more sinister?

Need the next book already.

One of the best mysteries I've read in a while! The Snow Globe mystery was my introduction to this author and series - thank you, Berkeley Publishing Group, for awarding it to me in a Goodreads Giveaway.

Although this is the third in a series, it was easy to follow along and only gleaned over referencing previous mysteries. It dangled a carrot to go back and read it by piquing interest, but didn't spoil anything.

Frosty the Dead Man had a great mixture of a wonderful cast with a lengthy list of suspects to share the limelight.

It was longer than my preference of a "cozy" but it was light and easy to skate through.

Enjoyable. It's just in time for the holidays (for those of us entering winter in the northern hemisphere) and recommended as a fun and suspenseful book for a chilly or snow-in day/night.

Cami Brooks is busy gearing up for the holidays in her curio shop. Her helper Emmy is sick, leaving both Cami's shop and Pinky's attached coffee shop short handed at a busy time of year. Luckily, a nice young woman comes into the shop several times and Cami asks her to work for them in both shops. The girl seems to have a knack for displaying and selling snow globes.

Cami is asked to run for an open seat on the city council. While trying to decide she stops by Mayor Frost's office to discuss it with him only to find him dead on the floor with the snow globe he bought from her that day broken beside him.

This story had a bunch of layers, although I must say I figured out the main "secret" very early but, was still surprised with how all the layers fit together.

I have enjoyed watching this group of characters develop and grow. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

I enjoyed this entry in the series. This one actually seems to take place shortly after the previous novel, as Emmy is still seasonal help at both the curio shop and the coffee shop. Our author has managed to concoct a mystery with enough red herrings to keep everyone guessing. In fact this was one of those rare cases where I had most of it figured out before the characters in the story had. It was then fun to see how long it took them to connect the dots. It would seem that one new character may be added to the cast, and I am wondering if another will appear again. All in all a fun and easy read.

Frosty the Dead Man is the third book in this delightful series. Cami runs a store that sells snow globes of all types. Mayor Lewis Frost, known as Frosty, purchases an unusual snow globe that Cami has received from a new distributor. When Cami finds him murdered with the broken snow globe close by, she is soon involved in trying to find out what happened to Frosty. With the help of her friends and family, she is able to discover the killer. The characters are fun and enjoyable. This was my first trip to Brooks Landing, but it will not be my last. I won a copy of this book from King's River Life.

All the promise shown by the second book is squandered in this one. The plot and mystery are so obvious, you figure it out the second it is presented. I spent the majority of the book rolling my eyes at the characters, wondering how they manage to miss every single clue in front of their noses.

I guess it shows that trying to center a mystery around an obscure subject like snow globes can only be sustained for so long. In this case, 2 books was the limit. The third showed that it was 1 too many.

Challenge: RRRCs December 2018 - Book published in December (7). Published December 6, 2016, this is the last of three snow-globe shop mysteries. The solution was pretty obvious from the beginning, but a very nice read nonetheless. I hope there will be more in this series at some point to see how the lives of the main characters develop.

I like this series. And I like the new characters that arrived in this book. And I really like snow globes and I really would like to visit Curio Finds to see all of the fun snow globes they have. And I would have to get a cup of coffee at Brew Ha-Ha. Will there be another addition to this series? I hope so.

The Best Yet

Frosty the Dead Man (A Snow Globe Shop Mystery) is the third book in this series and I think it is the best so far. The characters continue to develop and the storyline moves along at a fast pace. Cozy mystery lovers should enjoy this book.

I enjoy the characters but this book was just too simple. I knew from the outset the motive for the murder even though that was supposed to be a surprise. Plus it was so obvious it made the cops seem stupid for not realizing it.

Once again I chose a book that was part of a series but not the first one. It didn't matter too much. There was one part that had me going back pages trying to figure out a minor detail (can we say adopted??) but it didn't alter my enjoyment of the book. I will look for others in this series.
