"I felt like time was taunting 'Behind again? You'll never get it all done.' I worked harder and longer hours, sacrificing my limited personal time to stay ahead of the game. Still, it wasn't sufficient. My work just kept expanding, demanding more of me. I could never seem to call it a day.
In my entire career, I'd never faced a sales problem of this magnitude."
Sound familiar? If so, you're probably an overwhelmed seller. Your clients expect more, with faster turnarounds. Your quota keeps going up. You need to leverage social media, keep up-to-date on your industry, figure out how to sell new products and services, and learn all the latest technologies. The demands are never-ending. You could work nonstop around the clock and still not get it all done. It's a huge problem faced by experienced sales pros, busy entrepreneurs, and sales rookies. If you don't stay on top of your time, it's tough to make your numbers, let alone blow them away.
Konrath, a globally recognized sales consultant and speaker, knew she needed help, but found that advice aimed at typical workers didn't work for her—or for others who needed to sell for a living. Salespeople need their own productivity guidelines adapted to the fast-paced, always-on sales world. So Konrath experimented relentlessly to discover the best time-savers and sales hacks in order to deliver the first productivity guide specifically for sales success.
In More Sales, Less Time , Konrath blends cutting-edge behavioral research with her own deep knowledge of sales to teach you how to succeed in this age of distraction. You'll discover how
• Reclaim a minimum of one hour per day by eliminating major time sucks and changing the way you tackle e-mail and social media.
• Free up time to focus on activities that have the highest impact on your sales results, such as preparing, researching, strategizing, and connecting with customers.
• Optimize your sales processes to eliminate redundancies and wasted time.
• Transform your mind-set to effortlessly incorporate new, more productive habits; leverage your best brainpower; and stay at the top of your sales game.
Konrath helps you develop strategies specifically tailored to your life in sales, using your strengths to cut through the feeling of being overwhelmed. All salespeople have the same number of hours in a day; it's up to you to rescue your time to sell smarter.
I read the first few chapters completely and then skimmed the rest of the book.
If you’re brand new to sales productivity the book could be very insightful. However, I found that the value in this book for me was refreshing some topic areas that I hadn’t thought about in a while.
This book was a mile wide but an inch deep. No topic was covered too deeply. Some will like that and others will hate it.
A good read for ideas on taking your sales with to the next level
At first, this book was a bit of a bore. The first part focused on eliminating distractions and featured apps prominently, but I stuck with it, and yes, the book does give valuable insight on doing more sales in less time. Jill writes from her own experiences, and encourages readers to think bigger, experiment, and develop systems. She tells you how to start, breaking each aspect of the process into doable steps so that it's worth it to me referring to the book as a guide.
While there are plenty of "Time Management" books written in the past, this is written for the modern age. We've all done it, been in the middle of writing an important proposal and we get distracted by Facebook, LinkedIn etc. Jill was that very person and she offers a process (and some tools) to get that time we lose during the day and therefore make more sales.
Try his book was recommended on a podcast I listened to and it seemed a bit dated, with basic mental health advice like taking breaks and drinking water. It also seemed more applicable to sales people vs entrepreneurs. May be useful to someone new to sales as a dedicated role.
I really enjoyed this and it was extremely motivating. Took away some really great practices to put in place that have already helped me become more productive and intentional with my time!!
Remembering the times when I learn about selling the hard way, working during my semester break at a computer store. Made a lot of sales, for a small remuneration.
The pay was small, but the skills I learned would be timeless.
Salespeople face intense, unremitting, psychological pressure. Especially if your pay structure is 100% commission based. Meaning if they don’t sell, they don’t eat.
So, here’s is my reading notes on “More Sales, Less Time” by Jill Konrath.
This book is NOT just for salespeople (okay one part, about 20% is about selling). This is a great book for anyone trying to reestablish control of their schedule in the world of online distractions and mobile apps. With just ONE tip that Konrath shares, I was able to reclaim at least an hour of my day. That's a lot of productive time.
Another bonus - because she knows we're already stressed for time, the author has written a book that can be finished in a weekend. A must-read for 2017!
