This was quite a slog. The extensive section on design theory was (I think) a bit overly dense and covered material better suited to full expansion in a physics text. That, or maybe my background is just lacking. The section on kinematics was likewise very dense, but included a lot of great info on calculating four-bar linkages for given behaviors. That was also a bit hard to get through (for me at least), but it's valuable information that I can see myself returning to in the future.

Overall, I enjoyed this far less than volume 4 (the only other one in the series I've read so far), but I was kinda expecting the "fundamentals" volume to be a slog. I'm really looking forward to digging into volume 2: Materials, though.
