The Kobayashi twins, Megumu and Mitsuru, were named after historical figures, but only Megumu has grown up with a taste for history. So when Mitsuru is in danger of losing his weekends to extra history classes, he convinces his sister to swap clothes with him and ace his tests! After all, how hard can it be for them to play each other?!
Uesugi has been making plenty of enemies since coming to town, and a group of them have kidnapped Megumu as part of their revenge. Aoi and Uesugi put aside their differences in order to team up to rescue her, but in the ensuing battle Aoi loses his eye patch! Can Megumu convince him that his hidden wounds won't scare her away, or will the trauma of his past be the end of their future?
Gō Ikeyamada (池山田剛, born May 25) is a Japanese manga artist. She made her debut with Get Love!! in 2002, which was serialized in Shōjo Comic. Her manga mostly consists for a more young adult audience, due to some explicit content.
Megumu Kobayashi has her work cut out for her while she attempts to convince Aoi Sanada, her boyfirend, that she loves him. This is due to the fact that Aoi has sever burn scars and throughout his life he has been shunned by others because of them and that is why he keeps them hidden and remains distant from people.
Meanwhile, Mitsuru Kobayashi and Azusa Tokugawa have been steadily getting closer, but all of that could come to an abrupt halt as Azusa's world is about to come crashing down around her. Both of her parents have been aught cheating and it is making headlines in the newspaper, threatening to derail her already fragile life.
This volume is cute, I can see why Aoi was in pain due to the way he has been treated in the past; however, I am not sure it was a strong enough reason to explain why he could not touch females. I think Mitsuru and Azusa have a very interesting relationship, but they seem to fit each other very well and I love how no matter how many times Azusa tries to get Mitsuru to let her defend herself he always shows up by her side to back her up.
So, we finally find out what happened to Aoi's eye. Let's just say that Megumu and Aoi's first kiss was epic: it took three huge splash pages. I love them!
So Megumu gets to know also Aoi's father and... yeah, their story seems to be over. I mean, they've tackled all the issues that needed to be tackled.
It only leaves out Mitsuru and Azusa. Let's see where it will go.
Boy, does the creator go over the top on the soap opera melodrama this volume. At this point I'm reading just for the tsundere character Azusa, but I'm starting to wondering if I can handle five more volumes of such schmaltz. Oh, well, I'm already two-thirds of the way through, and the books read pretty quickly.
The obvious has been confirmed! Aoi is missing an eye. Yes, it's not exactly pretty but still. He is, of course, horrified that Megumu has seen him. Obviously no one told him this is a shojo. She's going to accept you!
Meanwhile, Tokugawa and Mitsuru are...dating? I guess you could call it that. But there's trouble in paradise and hearts are going to break.
I was wrong, these manga's are totally getting better and better.
In this volume we, and Megumu, get to see what is under Aoi's patch and the scars he keeps hidden. Megumu handled it wonderfully! Then we move on to the Azusa drama. This girl is like the tide for how I feel about her. it rises and falls, and rises and falls again...
book ten of its so cute it hurts series ~ this is a very cute book with a lot of wholesome romance between helpless romantics. i would recommend this if anyone would like to read a good romance manga. this book was just an overwhelming about of cuteness and wholsomeness mixed with sadness and trauma.
This is my last volume of this series and, as you can tell from my scores, I won't be looking for more. That said, these might be okay for a very young audience. The people are generally good, even the bad guys, and the series supports positive moral principles. I think the story is far too cute for my taste and the lazy art annoys me. Each to his or her own taste!
I've said before by I like the Aio and Megu story more than the other so the fact that half the book focused on the other story took away half a star for me. More Aio and Megu please!
Not gonna lie: I read this series super fast and don't remember it super well. The romance was cute, though, and I liked it enough to keep reading until the end.
I've come to the conclusion that this series should have slowed down in the beginning (the twins' scheme was given away in the first 3 volumes), the middle should have sped up (a bit boring/slow), and this last book should have been drawn out more. I mean, I'm all for us discovering Aoi's past and why he can't touch girls, as well as him and Mego finally being able to be together (without the 2 feet between them), but all of a sudden we're introducing her to family as his future bride? Slow down dude ...
There's a very emotional scene between Aoi and Meguro here, when she sees his scar and gets a real look at him. It should be heartwarming, I guess. Instead, it's too over the top most of the time—all those declarations are too much. Then the humor placed in to lower the seriousness just ruins it all around.
We also get a new revelation of Azusa's family, including a possibly two-faced mother and surprise sister who we've known all along. Honestly, I just don't really care for Azusa. Mitsuru isn't all that great, either.
Meh. Still just okay with this series, very up and down. Kind of more annoying at times than it should be.
A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, for an honest review. Thank you so, so much!
Love this couple! This is a very intense volume. Things are getting more and more interesting for them as she has now seen whats under Aoi's eye-patch. As well as finding out why he really cannot touch women. Will she except him for who he is? Some other secrets are revealed and the progression of some other relationships are very important to the plot. However, this is not the conclusion by far. Still a few more loose ends to tighten up.
