As an intro/101 type of book, it's perfectly fine.
Obviously, given the subject, it's only going to give superficial treatment to a lot of the subject matter (and excluding a lot entirely), so this is just a starting point.
Still, as a starting point, I think it's pretty good and attempts to cover some of the major concepts in a holistic way.
