This book is about a woman born around before 1900 and takes on the world in her way. She expects everyone to bend to her wishes most of all the late in life daughter who she makes sure knows she wasn't wanted. It is a sad story, yet a story many can relate to, and maybe use to help understand similar people in their own lives.

Based mostly in the Chicago area it is interesting to read how world events shaped the woman and her family.
