I've actually bought this as a Christmas gift for my one year old nephew, Kit, but being an obsessive reader, I just had to have a good read of it first, and it would be wrong of me not to review it too.

This is a hardback with hard cardboard pages, so is ideal for little ones. There are thinner cardboard lift up flaps on each of the pages, so there may be some supervision required if you have a little one that likes to rip things.

The illustrations are colourful and cute. The pages are full of animals, and behind the flaps hides the adorable spotty Ticklemonster! Who doesn't love a cute tickle monster, especially when you have a child nearby to tickle throughout the story.

The Tickle Book is a fun story with the potential for lots of tickles!

With delightful Axel Sheffler illustrations this lift-a-flap book is certainly fun as the Ticklemonster makes an early appearance from behind one of the doors in the early pages.

Before he appears Mr Porcupine is asked if he is tickly as does Mr Bear. Neither are, the former being prickly and the latter sticky. But once the Ticklemonster is around, everyone is tickly!

Three monkeys are then seen going for a ride on a train in separate carriages and by pulling a flap, the first is higgledy-piggledy, the second is very, very wiggly but the third, at first looking very serious, is attacked by the Ticklmonster and he is very, very giggly!

They arrive at the farm where the hen says 'Cluck, cluck, cluck', the cow says 'Moo, moo, moo' and the little pig chased by the Ticklemonster says 'Wee, wee, wee'.

Then there is a great montage of penguins at the Penguin Palace with most of them playing games but one looking very serious is being tickled by you know who!

Finally there is a picnic and everyone is having fun except the giraffe who has a big laugh as Ticklemonster pops out from the trees to annoy him!

And it's all good fun!

Genuinely awful book. No meter or rhyme seems to work, it makes little sense and even my daughter who received this at the age of 1 gets bored of it halfway through. Sometimes it isn't obvious where she should read next. Only Sheffler's drawings give this book anything at all. Would not recommend this book.

This is so very disturbing! I liked it in a, "How did this get made?" way.

My kids like it, but the rhythm of the lines and rhymes are excruciating- especially after reading a Julia Donaldson. Don’t confuse this with a Julia Donaldson!

Leider können auch die wie immer tollen Illustrationen dieses Buch "retten". Oder ist es einfach nur schlecht übersetzt?

This is my least favourite of Jd’s books that we’ve read so far. I guess the idea of it is to build tension in your child and tickle them a lot but it just doesn’t speak to me in the ways her other books do. The animals in the book and the places are a bit random and it feels clunky compared to the others we read. Nevertheless Logan enjoys lifting the flaps and looking at the pictures so it’s worth it for that.

The Tickle Book by Ian Whybrow was one of my favorite books growing up. Reading the book now as a college student, this book still brings back memories of what it was like reading it as a kid. Looking back at it now, there are a ton of aspects in the book I didn't catch or notice before when I was younger. Ian Whybrow is known for his humorous books filled with laughter and wit. Any child would love to read this book and is also a great book for beginner readers.

This book is a self-discover type of book. Children have to pull back tabs and flaps to discover where this so-called Ticklemonster is. The use of flaps and tabs helps keep kids focus and engages them into reading. The illustrations in the book are very colorful and mostly pictures of things that are outdoors. What I didn't notice when I was younger was that all the characters in the book are talking animals except for the main character, a little boy. The illustrations also have dead giveaways of what is going to be on the next page. For example, the little boy is on a train looking for the mysterious Ticklemonster and there's a sign up ahead has an arrow pointing to a farm.

When Ian Whybrow writes, he writes in fun rhyming couplets that sound almost poetic. He also introduces kids to things like metaphors and onomatopoeia of certain sounds like CRUNCH and CRACK. Not only is the book witty and fun to read, it is also very educational too. Whybrow introduces beginner teachings like what sounds animals make (Cows say moo, chickens say cluck, etc.) and saying commands. This is a perfect book for children of all ages who loved to get involved and have fun!

The Tickle Book - 18 mesi +

Si acquista su Amazon.it o Amazon.co.uk a buon prezzo. Si può trovare anche nelle librerie italiane più fornite.

Each page has a different setting; a house, a station and a farm among others in which you can lift the flaps and pull the tags and look for the Ticklemonster who will be sure to appear somewhere.

With a rhyme on each page and wonderful illustrations my two little ones were torn between wanting to point and talk about everything on the page or discovering where the Ticklemonster was hiding so they could get a tickle from mummy too! The Tickle Book is a delightful tale which is sure to capture the attention of even the wriggliest toddler!

Verdict: A really fun book which easily engages, it’s a favourite in this house!

Brilliant to read with a toddler, it has got lots of pull-out tabs and flaps to lift, and best of all, a "tickle-attack" on every page.
