Most Colorado Avalanche fans have attended a game at the Pepsi Center, seen highlights of a young Joe Sakic, and were thrilled by the team's run to the Stanley Cup in its inaugural season in Denver. But only real fans know how many players have had their numbers retired or why the team's name isn't the Rocky Mountain Extreme. 100 Things Avalanche Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die is the ultimate resource guide for true fans of Colorado hockey. Whether you're a die-hard fan from the days of Marc Crawford and Patrick Roy or a new supporter of Gabriel Landeskog and Matt Duchene, this book contains everything Avalanche fans should know, see, and do.
100 Things Avalanche Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die by Adrian Dater, overall is a very interesting book. One thing that I personally enjoyed about it is how the author's voice stands out throughout the book. When reading you can tell that he is a very proud Avalanche fan. On the other hand, throughout the book it does not go in chronological order of dates making it confusing at times. Also, he tends to ad some facts that don't relate to the Avalanche, but more relate to his own life. In the end, I would recommend this book to people who love the Avalanche.
There were a lot of stories I didn’t know, so that was fun to learn. Dater makes a lot of the stories about himself, but that’s just who he is. What keeps this from 4 stars for me is the jumbled up timeline. We kept going back to the 90s up until the last few chapters. In addition, I would’ve liked more stories from 2010 on.
