There are several patterns I would be interested in completing from this book, and the author added some good tips and techniques for fit and finishing, so in all, a nice addition to my pattern library.

I loved a handful of the patterns, the rest did not appeal. Interesting use of stitches to create appealing garments. Personally did not like the big chunky garments but that's just me, would not take anything away from the simple ideas she used to create some really beautiful garments!

Good, crisply styled patterns. Nothing too fiddly but a way to make simple projects more visually (and procedurally) interesting.

What a find! I have been a knitter for a number of years, but have always been intimidated by the idea of knitting a sweater. This book helped me make my first one! The patterns in this book are made with wonderful soft, quality yarn, and simple yet elegant taste--just the kind of things I would actually wear. Great patterns? Check. Paired with this, Fettig's explanations about measuring cabled gauge, understanding different methods of sleeve-shaping, choosing size, and reading your stitches really boosted my confidence. As I got into my chosen pattern I found it very easy to follow. The texture choices give interest, but are not overly complex. Fettig emphasizes knit/purl combos like seed and moss stitches, and simple cables--patterns that you can easily memorize so you can settle back into knitting without constantly looking at the pattern. She makes me feel like I might be able to put together my own sweaters without a pattern one day, and I am very interested in her other books now. I'm skimming through Home & Away at the moment; the teaching blurbs in that one compliment the Texture blurbs nicely, building on one another.
