Lillian lives in a small town in Ohio with her husband. She writes the type of books she loves to read--mystery and suspense with a touch or two of romance!
Game On by Lillian Duncan is a contemporary Christian thriller and what a fantastic one it is. Lillian Duncan draws the reader in from the start and keeps them guessing to the end. A major theme is that of forgiveness. Forgiveness is freeing - not only to the person forgiven but also the one doing the forgiving. "She had a choice. Stay stuck in the past. Or forgive." Too many times people stay focused on the past, unable to forgive, unable to move forwards. "You don't want me to forgive him?... He doesn't deserve it." Does anyone deserve forgiveness? God forgives us because of His amazing grace. We need to extend grace to others and forgive because we are forgiven. There is the theme of anger linked in to forgiveness. Past anger can ruin our lives. We need to let go and let God. "Forgiveness was...about giving up anger." Having faith and trust in God are of vital importance. God is always faithful to us. It is His nature and we can always trust Him. "God had been faithful then and He would be faithful now." As we journey through life we are never meant to do it alone. We need to learn to trust others as well as God. "Sometimes we have to trust someone instead of ourselves." There is the theme of dreams. We all have hopes and dreams but we have to make sure we are following our dreams and not someone else's. "Is that your dream or your father's?" Linked to the theme of dreams is that of God's plans. We need to know and follow God's plan for our lives. If we are following Him and His paths nothing is impossible. "Nothing was too difficult when one put God in control of one's life." Over the whole novel there is love. Love for each other and the love for and of God. We are commanded to "love God and love others." God is love. It is not just in His character, it is who He is. Love from God is pure. Sometimes the love from others can be tainted and warped, projecting love in twisted ways. Pure love always motivates us to put other people first. I really enjoyed Game On and could not put it down. I was completely caught up in the action. The leading characters were likeable and realistic. Game On is a nail biting thriller that had me guessing to the end. A real compulsive page turner. I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. No monetary compensation was received and all views expressed are my own.
I don't typically read romantic suspense but I wanted to read something by this author. It was a fast-paced read and well written. The characters were engaging and likeable. My only issue with the story (and with romantic suspense in general) was the predictability of the plot.
Lucas and Nicky both were great characters. Who embark on the dangerous journey trying to solve the mystery of who is trying to kill them and overcome the challenges of there past.
This story was a little short and predictable but I still enjoyed it!
I liked the theme of forgiveness “Forgiveness was about letting go of the anger not about letting the person she was angry with off the hook”.
Recommended for those who like Christian romantic suspense :)
I believe this is my 4th or 5th book by this author. I've enjoyed them. The start of this book was especially good. I'm going to give spoilers. The book then became the typical romance. 2 people who were in love. They get together again. She gave up her baby for adoption. He doesn't know he's a father and it goes on. Love stories all seem pretty much the same to me. I also figured out who the killer was way too early in the book. There were a few surprises and I did enjoy the book.

Suspense, danger, action, murder, sweet and tender are all words to describe Game On! Congressman and presidential hopeful Lucas McMann and private investigator Nikki Kent are both strong leading characters. I enjoyed Game On very much and recommend it to anyone interested in contemporary political suspense. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
This was an okay story, but it was completely predictable. I thought the characters were a bit annoying with their constant apologizing to each other. I think I would have liked it more of there was more suspense and more plot twists in the story line.
Lillian hit it out of the park with this novel. With likeable characters and well-written, I was was hooked from page one. The emotion and suspense are phenomenal. Well worth the read.
t seems as if I am "meeting" many authors new to me these days! I must admit that I am always a bit reluctant to agree to review a book that I know nothing about! However, this particular novel was NO disappointment. I enjoyed every moment of time spent with Lucas and Nikki! This author will now be on my list to watch for future new creations!
The main characters are realistically described and well developed. I easily identified with them during the first few pages and soon began to live their adventures alongside them. Nikki became my close friend as she dealt with her many hurts and challenges. It seemed as if life just kept throwing things at her to attempt to get her to her lowest point. As a P.I. , she had to deal with digging up many secrets in the past, that she would have rather left behind. I think we all know that feeling, do we want to have everyone know about the mistakes we have made??? Nikki impressed me with her courage to put her troubles aside in order to help someone who broke her heart and caused her much emotional pain. I kept wondering if I would be able to be as noble.
The plot moves steadily and at a pace that keeps the reader engaged throughout the book. There are just enough unexpected twists and turns to keep one guessing as to what will be around the next corner. Stalking is a very fearful situation and plays a major part in this book.
A Christian message is evident throughout the book. Keeping one's faith is difficult in times of trial, as Lucas shows us. Through his strength, he does succeed in winning Nikki back to her faith. Will he be able to resume a relationship with her after all of the intrigue of this mystery is settled??
This was a good read, perfect for those of us who love Christian romantic suspense books!
Wow, I can finally take a breath! Talk about a nail-biting storyline, I had such a hard time putting this book down. The author held my attention from the very first page, spinning this web of mystery, love, action, suspense, drama, and a little laughter. The pace of the book was just right, and allowed my mind to take in all the clues that were presented. It took me awhile to figure it all out, and I enjoyed that there really was two mysteries going on at once. Just another layer of this book that held my interest (sorry can't go into detail because it would spoil the storyline!).
Lillian is a wonderful storyteller. Her descriptions and emotions throughout the story had me hanging on the edge of my seat. I was so tempted to skip to the end because I just needed to know how it would all play out. I didn't though and I'm glad because I got to enjoy how the characters reached the end. Sometimes it's more about the journey then the actual ending!
Hidden behind all this mystery was a true testament about how people can change and become followers of God, even the people we least expect. The characters prayed throughout the book, and Lucas was not afraid to share the news that he was a changed man. In a time when our nation is struggling in the faith, I appreciated this reminder that yes, even politicians can get saved!
If you are looking for a great thriller, with a little love, prayer, faith, and action then start reading this book today! I received a complimentary copy of this book from CelebrateLit in exchange for an honest review which I have given.
Lucas McMan use to be secure. Now he can't trust anyone. He is trapped in a game. A game happening in real life, and the one person who never wants to see him again is the only one who can help him. His winning the election he is in is becoming pale in comparison to just staying alive. Is his would be killer the woman with a camera? The guy across the street? How does he get out of the game he is in? What can he do when the game expands to harm others he deeply cares about?
Over all I enjoyed this book! There were two things that were jarring to me because they would have had an opposite effect if this were real life. One of them would have been lethal. in the situation it was in. That part was a huge distraction for me, but I overcame it.
Overall I just wanted to get to the who done-it part. I love solving mysteries! My copy came from Celebrate Lit in exchange for my honest review and nothing more.
I love a good mystery. And "Game On," the latest novel by Lillian Duncan, is right on with suspense and intrigue.
Lucas McMann is running for the Senate. He has his political future spread out. Until he is stalked.
Nikki Kent has been hurt. Badly. When Lucas appears at her door, she is caught off balance. She would never help him. Not for any reason.
But when stalking turns into threats, Nikki pays attention. As she is caught up in the web of threats, can Nikki still keep her secret? Or will it turn deadly?
"Game On" is a well written story with interesting characters. I found that I could not put it down because I wanted to know what happened in the next chapter. If you enjoy a good mystery, I think you would enjoy this book.
(I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.)
Game On" by Lillian Duncan is a fast-paced suspense and mystery. This story is easy to follow and I never guessed who the stalker was. Yes, that was a surprise for sure.
I just loved the ending because it proved that love can win and means more than fame.
There are twists in "Game On" that makes the reader keep turning the pages because you just got to know how it all ends.
I love the beginning and the middle and the ending of "Game On". I could read more of Lucas and Nikki's story. This is the first book that I have read by Lillian Duncan but it won't be the last.
The reader is reminded of Christian principals throughout the novel, such as forgiveness and patient and Love.
I am giving "Game On" by Lillian Duncan five stars.
I was given a pfd file by the author and Celebrate Lit for my honest review in the book tour.
Nikki, is feisty and full of secrets, these qualities lead her to being a great PI and romantic interest for Lucas. They have a past that neither want to let go of, but both have forgiven. I loved that Nikki has such strength, she is that female character that you love, she is strong and smart. I felt as though she would be the only person Lucas could need, and that is true.
I couldn't put this book down, I found myself even choosing to read it in one night, that made for a tired mamma. It was worth the sleepless night. I know that many of us read thrillers, and can't sleep from the terror. I couldn't sleep from the excitement, and the craving of wanting more!
Lillian Duncan did a great job of making a stand alone book. I felt as though I had the closure I needed to not weep for more. I want more but I know that this Game finished with a win.
Game On is an intriguing, well-written and thoroughly engaging read! An absolute 5 stars!! I genuinely enjoyed this carefully crafted Christian romantic thriller from Lillian Duncan.
This story contains excellent character development and has such a plausible premise! Well-chosen verses are interwoven with a consistent yet not overwhelming faith message strategically built into the tale. Lovers of this genre will certainly want more from this author!
Be sure to pick up your own copy – you will be delighted (and intrigued)! Thank you, Lillian, for sharing this memorable volume with us!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. All expressed opinions are my own, and no monetary compensation was received for this review.
I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author, and I got this one as soon as it was released. I was not disappointed in this one. There is lots of suspense, romance, family secrets and faith which resulted in a story that I couldn't put down after I had started it. It is a story that kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next and had an ending that was certainly unexpected. This is definitely a book that I would recommend to the reader who enjoys a well written Christian suspense and romance story.
I did not want to put this book down. This was one of my first books by Lillian Duncan but will not be my last. Nikki and Lucas were old friends who had some kind of misunderstanding and broke up. Many years later Lucas is being stalked and Nikki is a private investigator so he hires her to try to prove he isn't going crazy and is really being stalked. There are many twists and turns and soon you don't know who is being stalked. I received an ebook of this story from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion.
This is my first time to read a book by Lillian Duncan and I am very, very pleased. There is mystery/suspense and romance aplenty. And throughout it all Nikki and Lucas seek for God's direction in their lives. The past seems to have a way of showing up in the present and secrets have a way of being revealed. This book will keep you guessing right up to the end with an ending that is completely unexpected. I will for sure be watching for more books by this author. I won this book in a contest and there was no requirement for a review. All views stated are my own.
I really enjoyed how Private Investigator Nikki Kent worked and the book certainly kept me guessing. I'd never thought much about how this stalker conducted their twisted game. I found this a new concept to me in the cyber world search and find. There was plenty of action, suspense and yes, just a little romance. I did enjoy this book of secrets, mystery and danger! I was gifted a copy to review.
Plenty of twists and turns to keep me speculating; just when I thought I had the answer there'd be another one thrown in. This is a good mystery for any armchair detective to delve into.
Lillian Duncan is a new author to me. I was pleasantly impressed with this book. The story is exciting and had me almost on the edge of my seat several times. Lucas McMann is a politician and Nikki Kent is a private investigator. He believes he is being stalked and turns to Nikki to seek her help in getting to the bottom of it all. When they went their separate ways sixteen years earlier, she never expected to see him again. She wants nothing to do with him now or ever because of their history. Life often takes some strange twists when we least expect it. He comes to her for help but it starts looking like she needs help staying alive. Although they have been living in different worlds, both have come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and are seeking to live lives pleasing to Him. They still have some key lessons to learn about forgiveness, humility, love, and even patience. The author is definitely not shy about sharing lessons about the Christian virtues through the lives of her characters. For me, that drew me into the story more than anything else – action, romance, suspense, mystery, family, or even their work ethic. I love a good story that has all those features, but I want to see the faith of the lead characters in action above all. Lillian does that for her readers. I have no hesitation recommending this book.
