These books just keep getting better. I really enjoyed this one. It was exciting, to say the least. With each book being better than the last, I have formed an attachment to this series. I feel it can be hard to find good quality lesfic sci-fi, so I'm happy with how this series has developed.

This book is mostly about Caya, a changer who sees the future, and the president Thea. Thea has been keeping Caya under protection. Caya sees it as a prison. Thea only wants to keep Caya safe, but with terrorists trying to destroy their ship, Caya might be in more danger than even Thea can imagine.

In book 2, it is obvious there is a bit of a connection forming between Caya and Thea. I was not surprised at all to see that connection grow in this book. Can you say age-gap? I'm not sure but I believe Thea is in her mid 40's compared to Caya at 20. It is one of the bigger gaps I can remember, and I'm surprised to see that it worked as much as it did. Caya feels like Thea is keeping her as a prisoner, so there was a real frustration, love/hate thing going on. For me it helped produce some chemistry, and I wanted them to be together. I must admit, in this whole series, the characters are quick to go from like to love. This book was a bit of the same, except they went from annoyance to like to love. Maybe that extra step helped me more, but I found myself enjoying their relationship.

What this book was also great on, is excitement. I felt at times I could hardly catch my breath with so much happening. I thought book 2 was entertaining and filled with action, this book was even more. It is easy for me to say that this is the most enjoyable book of the series.

I would recommend this book to sci-fi fans and Gun Brooke fans. This book is very intertwined with book 2, so don't read this without reading that one. I really enjoyed this and can't wait for book 4. Brooke put a tease at the end, so we know more books are coming. The only hard part now is to wait.

An ARC was given to me by Bold Strokes Books, for a honest review.

ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

As with book two I give this one 3 1/2 stars, I liked both main characters, and I'm a sucker for age gap romances, so those were the pluses. On the minus side, Caya learns a lot about Thea (literally) but all Thea seems to know about Caya is that she's a Changer, that she's clairvoyant, and that she's 'mesmerising', which doesn't seem that much to build a relationship on.

I actually found the action/intrigue in this one a bit tiresome, especially towards the end where it was non-stop for chapter after chapter. There were also sub-plots that just seemed to go nowhere (Thea's husbands book for instance) but as this is part of a longer series, maybe they'll pop up again.

In any event this is an ok addition to the series, and keeps it moving along. It'll be interesting to see what happens now that all the characters will be on the new planet.

The terrorists motivation is completely unclear. When you start to destroy the space ship you are on, it looks like a suicide mission. But for that they are too big and organized. Also there are no messages or demands. Just destruction.

Brooke's Exodus series is a definite must read for those who love sci-fi and even those who may not. Her characters draw you in, make you love them and cheer them on. The story and adventures keep you interested and longing for more. I look forward to reading more from this Author be it sci-fi or just straight up romance.

Great book

This author’s best writting is without a doubt sy-fy. Both series are amazing and well written. This book is another example and
I loved it. Just one suggestion, please stop the crying. It’s too much. Your characters eyes must be hurting all the time, with so much tears.

Although I'm a huge fan of Gun Brooke and find her lesbian SF series easily the best in the field I must say I didn't hold out too much hope for this one when I realised it was going to follow the romance of President Thea and young changer Caya. This relationship has been hinted at in the previous volume and I was really hoping that it wasn't going to come to anything as I dislike May to December pairings and really felt that Thea's attraction to Caya is all shades of wrong - she's old enough to be her mother!

However I was pleasantly surprised Escape gives us a wonderful depth to Thea and I found that I didn't hate her at all. Caya not so much... she's stunningly beautiful and brave but at the beginning I found her very bratty and naive and the novel focuses on her abilities far more than depth of character... Or rather Thea doesn't get to see any of Caya's depth in action which makes her undying love seem based on little more than physical attraction.

What I really loved about this book was not the romance however, but the plot. I'm a massive SF and space opera fan and I love Brooke's SC universe - It's a nice a cross between Star Trek and the X-Men concepts. The main story of this one is super exciting as terrorists try and sabotage the Pathfinder ever reaching their destination planet of Gemocon. The methods the terrorists use are extreme and you can't help but feel touched by some of the lives lost in this one - supporting characters are great! particularly the really interesting changer trio - would have loved to have seen more of them.

A couple of points to note - Thea's age is never revealed in this one - now those who have read the previous book may know she's in her 40's (I think) but it's really glossed over here to make the age gap less of an issue?

There aren't many decent male characters - I know that sounds weird for a lesbian romance - of course the female characters should shine! naturally! but I don't like man-hating stories and prefer a more balanced world view or even women triumphing over a male dominated world - Here Haddler's an out and out bastard and Diobring's a traitor - Until Foy/Aldan turn up men definitely seem to be the villains here and in such a mixed society that seems a bit idealistic.

Overall though I was surprised about how readable this one was. Absolutely cracking story and while I didn't think the romance was great - it definitely wasn't nearly as awful as I feared.

Got ARC from Net Galley,

I will admit that I'm guessing at the name of this book because the way it appears is on the cover is confusing to me. I'm not sure which title is the title of the book or the title of the series. Just me? I guess part of the confusion could have to do with me jumping into the third book of a series but I was able t do it and did enjoy it.

I really liked this world. There were ladies loving ladies and men loving men although the focus was more on the ladies. There's a lady president and it sort of had a Star Trek vibe to it. I did love Voyager which is the only series in that verse where I watched all of the episodes. They are on a ship and on the way to a new planet. It takes four hundred days so they are living on this ship and of course things don't go smoothly. Stuff goes down.

I like how the gay characters were just people in this world. There's a lady president which is pretty cool and there's an interesting batch of characters in this world. There are people called Changers that have powers which freaks out the other people so it isn't a perfect world because of course that doesn't exist. They have visions and they often help save people. There's a budding romance in this book that doesn't happen right away. I haven't read the other books but it wasn't until later on that things started heating up. Reading this book reminded me that I really need more science fiction in my life. I often find myself stuck in one genre for long periods of time which can lead to burn out so I'm still trying to dip my toe into different ones at the same time so I don't go ten plus years without reading a science fiction book.

I simply love this series! As a sci-fi/romance, it is interesting as well as full of excitement. Having read the first two books in the series, I was eagerly awaiting the third book. “Escape…” did not disappointment me. The ending of the book leads me to believe that there may be another book in the series. I only wish that Ms. Brooke could write faster so that I would not have to wait so long between books.

Ms. Brooke has created characters that are rich with emotions. Her creativity in the sci-fi story line is great. As a reader, you are immediately drawn into rooting for the characters to succeed.

I give this book 5 stars out of 5. One would have to enjoy sci-fi in order to appreciate this book. It is a fast, well written book.

I was given this ARC in return for an honest review.
