I thought this book was a great Suspense thriller that kept me anxiously turning pages until the end. I enjoyed the unpredictable story line and found it was an action packed read from the first Chapter.
Laura Conrad died in a air plane crash, but her sister Chloe believes someone killed her. Laura knew something about someone and as a reporter she had gathered up evidence against that person. Chloe believes they did something to her sister's plane that caused it to crash . Now that someone is trying to kill Chloe too. She hires one of the best private investigators in the country and the chase is on.
Hunter Lawson doesn't want to work for Chloe because of her family. His late sister Beth was married to a Conrad who went to prison for her death. When a shooter tries to gun down Chloe in the street Hunter agrees to help her. Will he be able to keep Chloe alive and help her find out who these people are that are trying to kill her?
I recommend this book to readers of Suspense books. Lakeside Peril is book four of the Men of Millbrook Lake Series. It can be read as a stand alone .
I borrowed a copy of this book from the local library. A review was not requested. All opinions expressed here are my own.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Men of Millbrook Lake series. I have not read the first three books in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. This book is filled with action and suspense. There was always something going on which made me want to keep reading. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Lakeside Peril is a Men of Millbrooke Lake book by Lenora Worth. It is a Love inspired suspense by Harlequin. It is just a little slow starting out; but gets very interesting and the action picks up as you read. You find yourself trying to figure out what is going on before Chloe and Hunter figure it out.
Chloe Conrad of Oklahoma goes to Florida to get Hunter Lawson, a former Special Forces operative, to help her find out who killed her sister Laura and why. Hunter resists because he has had enough of the Oklahoma Conrad’s to last a lifetime. His sister married Chloe’s stepbrother and it caused her death. He had been the only one interested in finding out who caused her death and didn’t rest until Chloe’s stepbrother was in prison. It didn’t help in his grief; but staying out of Oklahoma was a priority of his. Now Chloe had come to beg him to help her which meant going back. Could he help her if he decided to? Would he help?

Wow! What a great and fast paced story Lakeside Perils turned out to be.
I wasn't sure what to expect because this was a series that I was unfamiliar with and this was the first book that I've read by Lenora Worth. I can say that I think this book can easily be read as a stand-alone and I will be reading more books by Ms. Worth.
Her character development and writing are superb.
I loved Chloe and I loved Hunter. Together they were perfect as they worked to find clues that will help them heal and move forward with their lives.
This has the perfect amount of suspense to keep you in the edge of your seat.
If you like an action-packed story, this is one I recommend.

Wish I could give it 4 1/2 stars. This is the first book I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it a lot. She kept you interested from the first page to the last. I could not put it down. This book I had read in about a day. Chloe is determined to find out who killed her sister. While she is trying to figure it out herself she finds she can't do this alone so she goes looking for a PI. She goes looking for Hunter Lawson but he isn't interested since he thinks her family is the reason his sister is dead. It has you from the first page to the last. A very fast read.

This series has been great. It went back and forth between the Love Inspired line and the LI Suspense books which was an interesting approach. I was glad to see that the dark, brooding Hunter got his own story. While this was a series, you don't have to have read the rest for this Lakeside Peril to draw you in. The suspense in this one was fantastic! I definitely recommend!

The first part of this book had me a bit confused. All the information seemed to be random. It got better about halfway through.

However, I felt the "love" connection came out of nowhere. All of the sudden they were wanting to kiss the other and thinking about the future. I didn't think the characters meshed well and there was so little information on Hunter. He was really a mystery throughout the book. He did a lot of grunting.

Some of the ending was a surprise but the crooks were not. Had it down at the hospital scene.

The ending seemed abrupt and the HEA was just tossed in there. Didn't feel complete.

I felt like I pushed myself to the end of the book and then was horribly disappointed.

That kept me second guessing every turn!

What I had an issue with is not only the title, but the cover itself. It's supremely misleading! I honestly thought this was happening at a lake house or somewhere with a lake...nope. So, please be advised that -while this story is really really good- you should not pay any attention to neither title nor cover.

I can relate to Hunter in the way if losing someone I'm extremely close to. After my huge loss, I pretty much turned away from prayers. Like, Hunter, my faith renewed in a time if need.
I liked how brave Chloe was. I enjoyed this story. It has action and a mystery to solve. I really liked how the big reveal was explained and who did what.

Disappointed. I didn't feel connected to Hunter like I did in the other books.

There were some continuity issues that spoiled the story for me. After one where I couldn't figure out how a character could walk out of a room when they were in a car, I had to put the book down for a while.

Such a struggle 2 finish! I have read LW's romances and enjoyed them but this I did not like. What plot? Made no sense and the romance was so not believable!
And probably I should just avoid this Love Inspired Suspense series as I suspect their requirements r what's irking me most.
