It was a very nice change to read a book about two lovely people and watch them fall in love. Warmed the cockles of my heart.
Finn Lockwood is CEO of his company and is worth billions but he was the CEO by default. His older brother by several years was meant to carry on the CEO position in the family business. His father had never invited Finn to be part of the company. His brother had been groomed from birth. But when his brother died, then his parents, the running of said company was left to him. Guilt ate at Finn every day of his life and you will be quite shocked at the things his father blamed him for even telling this child that he should have been the one to die in his brother's stead. WOW! That is pretty damaging. Then after the car accident took his parents lives he went to live with an aunt who reminded him frequently that all the deaths were his fault. Now I understand the damage, lived it even myself, but I always remained hopeful knowing love was worth the risk. But that is not usually how it is represented in book-land. They carry their damage, guilt and worthless feelings like a badge of honor, always polished and shining brightly. 'This is why I can't care about you.' 'This is why I don't commit to women/men because anyone I love always abandons me.' 'I hurt everyone I love, just ask my dad.'
So Holly works for Finn's company but in the legal department, far away from the man himself. One evening she dropped off a file he had been waiting for and when she went to place it on his desk he spoke to her (she had not seen him as he was in the shadows) and they chatted a bit. He was so grateful for her help he offered her dinner and he ended of cooking for her at his penthouse. After a great dinner, wine and conversation...they cooked a little more, but it wasn't food on the menu this time. The next morning they both agreed not to see each other again. Neither wanted a relationship so they went their separate ways trying very hard not to think of the other and avoiding running into each other daily at work.
When Finn has to attend a top secret meeting he demands his PA go with him, but she tells him she can't because her and her fiancee are eloping to Las Vegas. She finds him a substitute he can trust with his secrets. Yep, you guessed it, Holly, and they are both so hot for each other it's almost comical...until the meetings commence on his yacht and Holly becomes ill with vicious vomiting early each morning. She thought it was seasickness but once the meetings were over and they were back at his vacation home she continued to get sick and he took her to the doctor. Were they ever in for the shock of their lives. And not just a babe but twins.
What made this story more special was that Finn was not a womanizing man-whore and had not even thought of another woman, let alone been with one, since the night he spent with Eve seven weeks earlier. I liked this book but I liked it less after my last read through.
I was disappointed near the end when the hero's ex fiancee shows up to the big company ball. He had not told Holly that the ex assisted him with the ball each year even after their break up. Imagine the embarrassment and humiliation when the ex fiancee goes to Holly and introduces herself as Finn's ex. Then she started telling some company secrets to her and it appeared she did so to try and get to her letting her know she knew more about him than Holly did. I would have struggled with this and did so. I think it was callous that he had the ex there as part of the ball when he was fighting so hard to get Holly to commit to him. It certainly made it appear he had lied to her. There was also another huge secret that the ex told Holly and it made her feel small and insignificant. The least Finn could have done was to tell Holly that there was a chance she would be present. She actually came up to Holly and introduced herself saying all of nice things about Finn but Holly was under the impression that there was bad blood between them at the end of their engagement.
I wish all that disappointment had happened earlier in the book. It was very poor timing with Finn trying to get Holly to agree to marry him and after the big disappointment he appeared less than trustworthy. It really kind of knocked the book down a bit for me and it lost a star in the rating.
It also bothered me because there was a meager apology from Finn and I don't feel he understood how he had hurt Holly and caused her to feel insignificant by not telling her about the ex. It left Holly feeling like a fool and she came close to leaving him.
I have read this plenty but I won't read it anymore.
Holly never expected Finn Lockwood, CEO of the company she worked for, to invite her to have dinner with him. But he did and she went. One thing lead to another and they spent the night together. That wasn't a good idea. They agreed to never let it happen again and to stay away from each other. That was easy enough to do since Holly worked in the legal department where she seldom saw Finn anyway. But when Finn's personal assistant got engaged and eloped, Holly filled in for her. It was awkward for them to have to work together, but they managed. That was until Finn had a top secret business meeting on his yacht a couple of months later. Of course, as his PA Holly accompanied Finn. But she was often sick on the boat. Believing it was seasickness, she was shocked when she saw a doctor at home, to find out she was pregnant!
Even being ill, Holly was a huge help with Finn's Project Santa charity project, both on the ship and in the office. Holly was very bright and helpful. I liked how she spoke up at the meetings, sharing her ideas. I didn't care for Finn with his "poor me" attitude. There were several reasons for this. Some of them were - He was not supposed to be CEO, his brother was. But when he died, Finn got the job by default. Finn had taken a back seat to his brother as a child. His parents spent their time with the sick boy, almost forgetting about Finn. He also thinks it was his fault his parents died in a car crash. I can understand how a child would think it was his fault. But as an adult, he should have gotten over it.
I liked this billionaire romance, but I didn't love it as much as I thought I would. But I did like the epilogue and HEA.
HER FESTIVE BABY BOMBESHELL was the perfect book to start my Christmas reading this year. Holly Abrams and Finn Lockwood were characters that I fell in love with. As I turned the pages after their first night together their passion sizzled on my fingertips. Christmas is my favorite time of the year where magic, miracles, generosity, twins and love can overcome any obstacles in a couples way. Ms. Faye writes with warmth and honesty and that is why she is a favorite Author of mine, ENJOY!
Holly becomes her boss's personal assistant by a series of unexpected events. They previously shared one secret night, but they both agreed that's all it would be--one night. Finn has two projects, both related to Christmas, but he's a Scrooge. He has his reasons, and Holly is an independent woman. Working close together is proving to be a problem, especially when stranded on a small island together. When Holly falls ill, and the "illness" turns out to be an unexpected pregnancy from their one night together, they have to work together for the benefit of their twins. Holly will have to break down his defenses and open his heart to love, and Finn will have to show Holly he can be the kind of man to rely on. Little by little, they grow close as a couple. Holly misunderstands when she sees Finn with his ex, and he understands her independence when he meets her father's family. Finn resolves to prove to Holly he can be a father and husband before it's too late.
It liked this story, it made pleasant reading, I will look out for this author again, she writes a decent story, without having any bad language or detailed sex.
Holly has a one-night fling with Finn Lockwood, the CEO of the company she works for. They agree its best to stay out of each others' way, but seven weeks later they're thrown together when Finn's personal assistant gets engaged and elopes, with Holly forced to step in at the last minute! Of course, Finn is a billionaire, and Holly is whisked off on business engagements on private jets, yachts and islands. This happens to me all the time! She proves to be very insightful when it comes to Finn's Project Santa charity project, but a spanner is thrown into the works when Holly turns out to be pregnant with twins. They must get over their traumatic family histories in order to make their own family work.
This was a nice enough romance, but it lacked a little intensity. Jennifer Faye relies on external barriers to Holly and Finn's happiness, and Finn in particular ends up coming across as a martyr! His brother died when he was just a teenager, which has to be well over ten years ago, but he's firmly of the belief he doesn't deserve love EVER AGAIN, EVER because he was upset at not getting presents for Christmas due to his parents being preoccupied with his brother's illness. I mean, really! Come on! That's a little extreme. He also believes it's all his fault his parents are dead because they had car crash delivering a present to a friend's party that he refused to go to.
When someone carries on and on like Finn does that other people's tragedies are all their fault, it smacks to me of selfishness! Get over yourself, Finn, and grow up!
The final misunderstanding that nearly undoes the romance is terribly flimsy! Holly learns from Finn's ex that Finn is the mysterious benefactor behind the Mistletoe Ball and is pissed that he never told her. She somehow equates this with him being a liar and that no men can be trusted! For realsies, Holly? Good grief! Dial it down a notch, drama queen. I worry about your happily ever after. What happens when Finn forgets to tell you he left the iron on or the toilet seat up?
Otherwise, it was a pleasant and diverting romance read!
This was a sweet story and I really enjoyed reading about Holly and Finn overcoming their pasts and finding love. I only wish there was more about the pregnancy itself. It was such a big part of them forming a relationship, but it felt kind of rushed and glossed over. But I did enjoy the sweet plot.
Enjoyed this. The author shows ways we can all love, gain trust, share our fears and learn how two people can become happy and centered by communication. Lots of twists and turns I this book but all worked out by finding the need to share past heartaches and turn all into partners who communicate
Sweet Christmas story. Everything about it was just okay. I didn't particularly connect with the characters and it was a bit too predictable. Nice epilogue though.
I LOVED Finn and Holly's story. Two lost souls finding there way to each other. Finn is the CEO of Lockwood International, and Holly works in the legal department. Our story begins when Holly brings a document to his office thinking he would not be there, but he surprises her by showing up before she gets out of his office. He asks her to wait so he can look over the document, he finds a problem, and they work together to correct the problem. He offers dinner as a thank you for working late, and with eyes wide open and knowing it will go no where, dinner turns into her spending the night with him. Fast forward a couple of months later, after Thanksgiving, Finn is getting ready to go out of town to work on a top secret project when his PA springs the fact she is eloping that weekend on him. She says she can get him a replacement he can count on. She gets Holly! Finn and Holly are hesitant to work together at first, because the attraction is still there, but they promise to keep it all business. They arrive at Finn's Caribbean villa and start working on Project Santa, surprising, since Finn hates Christmas. They move to Finn's yacht with several of his associates to iron out all of the details and it's Holly that comes up with the solution to the last hurdle. While on the yacht, Holly gets sick, but thinks she us just seasick, but once they get back to the villa and she is still sick, Finn takes her to a doctor. Surprise, she is pregnant, with twins! They are both shocked and Finn wants to marry her right away, but she wants to wait. I loved watching these two fall in love. Share their secrets, their fears, with Finn, conquer his demons of the past, with Holly there to help. You will too.
Another sweet story from Jennifer Faye. The minute I started reading, I was swept up in the characters and their stories. I loved it. Couldn't read it fast enough. Yes, it may seem unrealistic to get lucky with a very rich and handsome man with his own private island and jet, etc. - but, hey, that's why I read romances. And the hero and heroine were delightful. Keep them coming, Jennifer Faye!
Loved this one. It was so cute and just left me smiling. These characters were entertaining and I just had to know what was going to happen. A nice relaxing read for the holiday season.
Holly Abrahms and YIKES...her boss Finn Lockwood had one night of passion which they both promised to put behind them. Since that night they've avoided each other but when Finn needs help on a special charity project, he and Holly are thrown together once again on a yacht no less! The attraction between them causes serious tension. When Holly begins feeling sick, she's sure it's just because of being on the yacht. A doctor's visit however lets them know that it's not seasickness as much as morning sickness caused by twins! Now Holly and Finn have to decide what to do about two gifts they are going to receive.
I just love the way Jennifer writes as from the first sentence to the last you are hooked. This was another wonderful read and I read it in one sitting. Jennifer has hit a homer with this one !
I was sent this book from the author for my honest opinion.
From the night that Holly Abrams and her boss, CEO Finn Lockwood were together they considered it a one time thing and both agreed this was not anything that would continue. When Finn's assistant Clara tells him that she cannot go on his planned "business trip" he is not sure what to do. Clara promises to find him a replacement and he agrees and tells her to get someone as he needs to leave tomorrow Clara not ever knowing about the evening Holly had spent with Finn suggests her for the job. Both are shocked when they hear they will be together. This is a wonderful story of how "accidents" can sometimes be a wonderful thing. Neither of them ever realized that the one magical night they spent together would result in Holly becoming pregnant with twins. While working together they are on a private island and must decide how to go forward. Holly has been hurt twice in her life and is not sure she can stand to have that happen again so is unsure of how to react to Finn. Mr. Lockwood who had been in a relationship before is not the kind of person who wants to get serious as he has too many things going on in his life. Both have secrets and together they will learn to open up to each other and trust one another. A Christmas miracle makes this story even more joyous. Sometimes life works in very unusual ways and things just happen for the best. This is like a fairy tale come true. A wonderful and enjoyable story that you will enjoy reading from page one till the end.
I love the way Jennifer Faye developed the characters of Finn and Holly in her story, Her Festive Baby Bombshell. Holly distrusts men after her father left her and her mom to be with someone else. Her step family doesn't treat Holly very well.
Finn has built a wall around his heart ever since his brother died and his father said it should have been him. There were no more Christmases after that as his family was grieving. It is no wonder that Finn has become Scrooge at Christmas time. Finn feels guilty that he is running Lockwood International when his brother was being groomed for that position.
Holly Abrams works in the legal department at Lockwood International. She met Finn personally about a month ago when a report she turned it to Finn was not quite right. They agreed that what happened between them would never happen again and that they would avoid each other. Unfortunately Finn's PA is running off to Vegas to elope and Holly is the only one she trusts to work with Finn on his secret project.
Finn and Holly fly to his private villa in the Caribbean to work on Project Santa. While on his private yacht Holly gets really sick and Finn is very worried about her. They will have to brave several storms if they are going to overcome their fears and insecurities as Holly finds out that their one night has resulted in her being pregnant. I received an advance copy of this book for my honest review. This is a story that will make you feel good.
It's been a long, long time since I've read a Mills & Boon romance and now I remember why. Basically I wanted sweet and simple, something I didn't really have to think too hard about, which is exactly what I got. The writing was decent and the characters were okay, although I never really got attached to them, but I just found it boring. The plot trudged along and it was extremely predictable.
Fine if you like this type of book, but I've decided once and for all that they're not for me.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I love this time of year and all the wonderful holiday stories that come with it. Jennifer Faye did not disappoint with Her Festive Baby Bombshell. There is a wonderful story here that I won’t recap for you as I would never do it justice, but I will tell you what I loved about it. It is about Holly and Finn, both strong characters, even if they themselves do not know it yet. For me, there was just the right amount of angst but not TOO much so that it would drag down the pace of the story. For me, Holly and Finn really clicked. Both had to work through past hurts in order to grow as individuals and as a couple. Yes, they do get their HEA! What I really liked was that Finn was an alpha but he wasn’t obnoxious about it. Ms. Faye wrote the character with much heart and soul. Don’t want to leave Holly out – she, too, had to learn to be vulnerable and it really helped her character grow. And the twins…there is nothing I can say that will help me explain how much I loved this part of the story. Every time I think about the twins, I get a goofy smile on my face. Another great read from Ms. Faye and I highly recommend.
Holly Abrams works at Lockwood International. She's working late and runs into the CEO of the company, Finn Lockwood. He asks for her help on a project, and to thank her for working so late, he invites her to have dinner with him. After spending time together, they promised they would steer clear of each other. When Finn's personal assistant Clara cannot join Finn on an out of town meeting, he makes sure Clara finds a suitable replacement since he needs to fly out first thing in the morning. Clara, not knowing Finn and Holly are purposely avoiding each other, convinces Holly to be Finn's temporary assistant. When Finn finds out Holly is the replacement, he's taken aback at first. Holly and Finn come to an agreement that this is a professional meeting and nothing more. Once they arrive at their destination and conduct their meeting, Holly comes up with some good ideas. Finn realizes Holly is an asset to his company, and he's glad she came. Jennifer Faye is a wonderful author and I highly recommend Her Festive Baby Bombshell. I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Holly and Finn are both likable characters who have not had the easiest of pasts. Finn is the big teddy bear-very gruff exterior but a true heart of gold inside. Holly, likewise, is different out than in, exuding confidence in her work, but doubtful of her worth and her ability to make a man stay (see past issues for explanation!) They work well together and have great chemistry...and a double surprise! I liked the two characters and really wanted them to have their happily ever after. I enjoyed reading the dialogue between the two, though there were a few times I wished they communicated better, but I can understand why they both held certain things close to the vest, as it were. The ending seemed a bit rushed-a let's throw one more obstacle and let them resolve everything in the last 20 pages kind of rushed. Otherwise, I really enjoyed reading the book. I finished it in one afternoon/evening. I would recommend it to others to read and enjoy. I will also be looking for and reading other works by the author.
I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.

A sweet take on finding love when you least expect it! Really enjoyable characters!
Holly Abrams has been steering clear of her boss for weeks now. They agreed after their one passion filled night together to go on about their business and pretend it didn't happen. Neither of them believes in all that love and happily ever after nonsense. They've both loved and lost before.
Suddenly called on to join Finn on his luxury yacht to work on a crucial charity project, Holly can't deny that the sparks are still there between them. She falls ill and assumes it's motion sickness, but it turns out she's pregnant ... with twins! Will the figure out a way to combine their lives for the sake of their upcoming children?
Holly Abrams is filling in for Finn Lockwood’s assistant and finds that she has to accompany Finn to his private island for a secret meeting with top industry moguls. She and Finn had a one-night stand several weeks ago and agreed not to see each other again. Neither has been able to forget the other. While on the island, they find they will have a memory of that night or two memories when Holly finds she is pregnant with twins. Both have dark secrets from their past that affect their present and need to let go of the hurts of the past and look forward with hope for the future.
A sweet love story as two lost souls find each other.
I received this book free from Goodreads and recommend it for fellow readers who are fans of romance.
