Mad About the Brit Boys #4

Boy Meets Boy Meets Boy

Rate this book
Good men come in threes!

Three’s definitely not a crowd in this trio of contemporary erotic male/male/male ménages with a very British flavour from gay romance favourites Josephine Myles and JL Merrow.

Let your fantasies run wild as you take in the fit bodies down at the gym, or enjoy a very special birthday present from a loving partner. And even a trip to the dentist can be enjoyable with the right sort of distraction!

Kit Bag by JL Merrow

Working late at the gym one night, Kit’s delighted when two of his fantasies made flesh come in for a workout. The guys he’s dubbed Black Muscle Vest and Grey Sweats are tall, gorgeous and insanely built, and Kit can hardly take his eyes off their glistening, pumped-up muscles.

But he’s not the only one who’s been dreaming of a little hot and sweaty man-on-man-on-man action. Harry and Sven are only too happy to make Kit’s fantasy a reality in the changing room—and Kit’s going to get a workout of his own he’ll never forget!

Unwrapped: The Birthday Gift by Josephine Myles

All Dave wants for his birthday is a threesome, and his devoted boyfriend Mark is keen to oblige. Enter Pedro, the mysterious stranger they pick up from the pub. Taking him home with them promises a scorching encounter… if only Dave can deal with his nerves first!

Getting a Filling by JL Merrow

Ivo’s terrified of going to the dentist, even with his lover, Colin, there for moral support. But when the dentist turns out to be gorgeous—and gay—fear turns to flirtation. The next time Ivo ends up in the dentist’s chair it’s a lot more fun, as the support Colin and Ted give him is very immoral indeed!

3.5 hearts

Kit Bag 3.5 hearts

Teeny tiny short story, but filled to the brim with dirty talk.

Kit works at the gym and has to watch and drool over two muscled men who frequently come in to work-out. *Weary sigh*, what a difficult job. Kit is small and has some submissive tendencies that he'd like to explore with these men. Well one day after work he gets his wish in the showers.

This was actually rather rapey. Two massive, completely naked men cornering a small guy in the showers, stripping said guy of his clothes before any words are spoken, and the spit roasting him bare…. Ah no. But I could look past the weird rapeyness because it was basically just a sex scene and it was damned hot!

“I bet you’d love it if we just bent you over that bench and took turns fucking you raw, wouldn’t you?” Harry mused. “I bet you’d be screaming for more. Little sluts like you always want more.”
“Oh, God! Yes, yes please…”

Unwrapped: The birthday gift 3.5 hearts

This was a cool little story. Not a polyamorous romance, but a romance between a couple in an open relationship.

Mark and Dave have been together for a year, and for Dave's birthday, they want to have a threesome. Enter Pedro. The three guys have an explosive, sensual night together exploring all sorts of different types of delicious positions.

I quickly realized that there would be no escaping the sensations. I was either pushing into Mark’s moist heat, or pushing back onto Pedro’s cock. I groaned with the sheer, unbearable ecstasy of it…

This story was a romance story between Mark and Dave, as Dave becomes more able to trust Mark in an open relationship. I really liked how this wasn't polyamorous at all, Pedro was there for the sex only, and everyone was happy with that. There was an incredibly sexy age gap as well, big fan of that!!!

Getting a Filling 3 stars

Now I HATE the dentist, but if this story happened to me (or better yet, I got to watch…) I'd definitely be going more often.

Ivo has a chronic fear of the the dentist. On his first trip in a decade he takes his boyfriend for support and they meet their new dentist Ted. When some months later they run into Ted at a pub, they decide to go back to the dental surgery and ‘work’ on Ivo’s fear of the dentist.

“Now, Mr Eccles,” Ted continued as Ivo’s flies were unzipped and he felt Colin’s familiar hand close around his straining cock, “open wide.”

There was the sound of another zip being undone, and then Ted gently turned Ivo’s head to one side, bringing him face-to-face with Ted’s hard cock.

Once again this was a very short little story, so there's not much character development, but it had some medical kink, so that was a major plus! Because I'm basically here for the sex, I could've used some more variety with the threesome positions, but still thoroughly enjoyable!

This was a very hot little anthology, but don't expect much character development. Just read it for the fun of watching 3 men getting it on!

If you're into porny shorts about Brits or threesomes - or specifically British threesomes - this teeny tiny antho is for you. Hot stuff.

Uh...

The book is the "hot stuff" I was referring to, but... I suppose you could be hot stuff too, Hot Stuff. ;)

I adore the writings of JL Merrow and Josephine Myles so the opportunity to read an anthology of male ménage written in their delightfully brash and very British manner had me instantly hooked.

Kit Bag by JL Merrow
The joy of working in a gym and watching all the gorgeous and fit men come in to work out would be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Kit is certainly having that problem as he is being forced to hide behind the desk so the two seriously hot men bench pressing can’t see his very obvious arousal. Kit has nicknamed these two men but will come to discover (pun intended) that their names are Harry and Sven, and they are more than happy to reciprocate Kit’s lust.

Kit definitely gets his fantasy come to life and it was scorching. Whew! I’ll never look at a locker room the same again.

Unwrapped: The Birthday Gift by Josephine Myles
Ah, to be twenty-five again and willing to take what you want without worrying, overmuch anyway, about the risks. Mark and Dave are an established couple who just picked up Pedro, a businessman in town overnight from America, for their first time in a ménage. It is Dave’s wish but he’s still fairly nervous about the whole situation. Granted, he has a very good reason to have misgivings and I think anyone in that situation would, too.

This threesome wasn’t just sinfully hot, it was also sweet and tender, with Dave learning something about himself and his views of the world. It also, funnily enough, truly cemented the love that Mark and Dave share. A beautiful story of how it can be.

It's no secret these are two of my favourite authors. But equally threesomes aren't one of my favourite tropes.

I'd read the first of these stories before; Kit Bag by JL Merrow. But I read it again and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. I'll leave my original review here: A well written 3some fantasy come true with the implication of a continuation to the relationship.

The other two were new to me stories:
Unwrapped: The Birthday Gift by Josephine Myles

An interesting and smutty tale of love, desire, and open relationships.

Getting a Filling by JL Merrow

The funniest of the three stories. The dentist stuff both made me cringe and laugh. Colin and his inappropriate comments with hysterical.

I think it is easier to read threesomes in a shorter story. Possibly because you haven't invested the time in the characters. The introduction of a third doesn't suddenly negate all you've read into the relationship. In all these cases the couples are actively looking for company, they make all the moves, and they have either discussed it or it is part of their regular relationship.

To start, this is only 34 pages long – so you can tell right away that none of these “stories” are very well developed – intentionally.

My best take on these is that they feel like a collection of written down and somewhat fleshed out but still only fantasies.

None of them is particularly … thought provoking, but they are fun.

If you’ve ever had a fantasy involving your dentist – there’s one here for you, a birthday tryst, and one at the gym.

The writing is nice and it’s got a very “British” flavor.

Personally, it left me cold, but I can say that’s a personal preference.

Boy Meets Boy Meets Boy is a hot collection of three stories.; all featuring threesomes.
When I started this anthology I expected three hot stories and Josephine Myles and JL Merrow definitely didn't disappoint! I enjoyed all three stories so much!

Kit Bag by JL Merrow:

The first story is about Kit who works in a fitness studion and has been watching and fantasising about two guys who come regularly to the gym. One day they call him under fals pretences and it doesn't take long for things to get heated. ;)
This is the shortest of the three stories and while I still enjoyed it, I was sad that it was so short. I would have definitely liked to have a bit more of those three.

Unwrapped: The Birthday Gift by Josephine Myles:

This one was definitely my favourite out of all three stories.
The story starts out in a pub where Dave (the birthday boy!) and Mark are looking for a third guy to join them as a birthday gift for Dave. They have been together for a while but want to heat things up a bit.
They choose Pedro, a slightly older guy.
I liked the dynamics between the characters in the story. Dave is a bit unsure whether his relationship with Mark can endure this little adventure, but they talk about it, and Dave realises that he can trust his partner. Josephine Myles managed it to add character growth in this short story AND add hot sex.

Getting A Filling by JL Merrow:

The story starts with Ivo and his boyfriend in the waiting room at the dentist. Ivo is afraid to go alone so Colin has to accompany him to make sure that Ivo actually goes and sees the (hot) dentist.
I LOVED how Colin teased Ivo the whole time they were there. Their banter was cute and definitely a highlight of this story. And the sex scenes were hot. I liked the chemistry between the three of them. They fit together really well.

Overall I really enjoyed this anthology and I'll definitely check out the other stories in this series.
With 34 pages it's definitely not long, but features three really nice, well-written and sexy stories. Boy Meets Boy Meets Boy is perfect if you're just looking for a quick read inbetween!

Into threesomes? Into short stories that end with three men in a bed—or a dentist chair? This is a book with three short stories about threesomes. Yep. The alliteration is amazing. And so are the stories in a smutty-tangle-of-limbs kind of way.

Kit Bag features a shy guy named Kit who drools over Black Muscle Vest and Grey Sweats from afar whenever they come in to work out at the gym he works for. A steamy encounter in the locker rooms, and Kit has found where he forever wants to be…in the middle of this muscle sandwich.

Unwrapped: The Birthday Gift tells the tale of an established couple looking to spice up their sex lives with a little fantasy, and add a third to their mix. They are not looking at forever, but they get more than they bargained for, and lasting friendships remain after a hot night of fun.

Getting a Filling is about Ivo and his fear of going to the dentist. When his tooth needs a filling, he takes his boyfriend, Collin, along with him for moral support and to hold his hand. They both find that making new memories in the dentist chair, and with the sexy dentist, goes a long way toward easing Ivo’s fears.

Let’s face it, this is pure erotica, but the stories are well put together because both of these authors really know how to write. Boy Meets Boy Meets Boy is a nice sampling of hot reads from two great authors.

Nice little sample of hot reads from JL Merrow and Josephine Myles.

Kit Bag by JL Merrow 3 stars
More PWP than romance but very hot

Unwrapped by Josephine Myles
I really liked this. It definitely had more depth than JL Merrow's story. An established couple decides to have a threesome as a birthday gift for one of the guys. It gets extra points for being the reason Myles decided to write The Hot Floor.

Kit Bag 3*
--------
Not enough to be much fun, really. While the premises was promising the sex scenes was just too short and mechanical. There wasn't much happening. I'd have rather read the implied scene with the strigil.

Unwrapped 5*
-----------
Now this was better. Longer too, so not only was the sex a lot more detailed and varied, there was also time for some backstory and some character development. Not a lot, but it made for a lot more rounded read that way. Also, Dave was very cute. And I liked that the third was older and had a partner of his own. It felt pretty realistic for an erotic short.

Getting a Filling 4,5*
---------------
Ok, I love this one. Slightly dental phobic Ivo drags his boyfriend to his appointment and they end up flirting with the hot dentist. It's funny, a bit cheesy and quite adorable. I really like the characters, even after such a short time.
When they meet the dentist against later at a bar, he takes them home and they try to exorcise Ivo's phobia. The sex scene was again a bit too short for my liking, but it did not feel nearly as mechanical as the first story, luckily.
But Myles simply writes the better sex, while Merrow rocks the humor.

I'm a bit annoyed that the book only has 77% of content. It's just bios and blurbs after that. That's simply too much.

So good.

I love these two authors. I am always guaranteed a fun read. I had been reading them for years. What I like about anthologies is that you can enjoy the stories even when you don't have a lot of time to invest into reading. You still get enjoyable characters with plots that make you smile. Try them out the next time you are stuck waiting for a bit.

I really prefer my books to contain one story from beginning to end. This one had three short stories that I found somewhat lacking

A trio of trios! (Or should I say a threesome of threesomes?) In this three-story anthology from J.L. Merrow and Josephine Myles, they assemble previously published stories with an M/M/M flair. And there's definitely a lot of flair in this book. Featuring a shy guy working in a gym, a birthday celebration, and a trip to the dentist, there's quite the range here. And not a single one of the stories disappoints.

Includes:
Kit Bag by J.L. Merrow
Unwrapped: The Birthday Gift by Josephine Myles
Getting a Filling by J.L. Merrow

These two authors are ones who always put together unique and fun stories. These shorts are prime examples of their ability to do just that. Even though they're all previously published, I hadn't read any of them before. And I'm glad I finally got the chance to do so. This is part of the Mad About the Brit Boys collection, and I'll definitely be seeking out more of those books after reading this...

Disappointingly, prelude was better than the main event. One of the authors mentioned they did it as a challenge, and it doesn't look like the other is that experienced in writing threesomes either. They put a lot of effort in setting the scene, even managing to make the characters memorable, and making the fantasy of threesome being hot, but the sex itself felt brief and perfunctory in comparison. I haven't read their usual stuff yet, so I can't confirm if it's a problem with sex scenes in general or just not having a good grasp on the mechanics of a three-way. That is, I am currently reading Merrow's Pressure Head, but it is a very slow burn; I'm not even sure there will be a relationship at the end of book one or if there will be a sex scene at all - and even if it happens and it isn't that great, it won't be disappointing because it's really plot focused. In an erotic short with intercourse as the main goal, though, it isn't forgivable.

I rarely give anthologies more than 3 stars because there's always stories I love and stories I find quite meh, or that I downright dislike. It wasn't the case this time, but then again, with only 3 stories that's a good thing!
I wasn't super fond of Kit Bag, which I found sexy but just ok. Unwrapped and Getting a Filling though? Oh boy did I enjoy those two. I'll never go to the dentist and not think of this anymore.
Unwrapped managed to be super short and yet very sexy with some plot. The author actually manages to give us just enough background on the characters that we get invested. And the sex is hot.
As for the dentist well... I'm sure Ivo's gonna feel a lot better when he needs to go now. Colin might be the worst person to be with when facing your fears but he's funny and I was pleasantly surprised by how their threesome played out.

In the end, I think my favorite of the three was Unwrapped, but I'll be honest, both that one and Getting a Filling will probably get a re-read

Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.

Every story in this book starts pretty much the same way; a little introduction to the characters and the set up for the story and then they’re off and running. Each of these tales is basically just pure erotica but they were nice and diverse so it didn’t feel as though I was reading the same story over and over again and the sex was hot, too, which was the point! I liked the entire book, and with the shorter tales it was easy to fit an individual story into a few spare minutes. Each story had its good and bad points but they were all enjoyable and made for a nice diversion.

Kit Bag by JL Merrow 4.5*

My favorite story in the collection, this one was also, unfortunately, the shortest. (I think) I’m not a fan of the gym but I could certainly learn to be this is what I had to look forward to!

Out today! A collection of older menage short stories from my mate Jamie and me :)

I remember being shocked at having written such filth when I wrote my story for this, and wondered if I had the courage to send it in for the anthology call (Dreamspinner's Necking). Now I'm proud to have written way more filthy stories, but hey, we all have to start somewhere, right?!

M-M-M short stories. Exactly what ist says on the tin. Some interesting ideas here but short stories rarely get under my skin enough to warrant more than 3 stars, and these were no different.
