Jack is on vacation from his job as Internet Web Marshal. He has come to a small museum to see a special exhibit of paintings on loan from The Hague in The Netherlands.

No sooner does he meet a woman viewing a 17th. Century masterpiece, when all hell breaks loose. The museum's ceiling is falling and Jack becomes embroiled in the most dangerous and baffling case of a mysterious murder.

Without any weapon or clue to go on, we soon find out that nothing is at it seems, as Jack gets drawn into a mystifying web of intrigue that spans two continents and three centuries, unexpectedly leading him into the beautiful eyes of Sophia who brings him to a deep transformational experience he wasn't prepared for.

This fast-paced mystery action thriller gives us a glimpse into what happens when a billionaire's drastic decision causes 5,200-mile shock waves that set the paths of the cleverest evil genius and the unsuspecting lives of innocents on a collision course. All are bound together by Johannas Vermeer’s Dutch Master Painting, 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' and are forced to face the enormous inimitable power of The Conscience.

This is a side of Martin Schulman you have never seen before, with a very skillful interplay of richly developed characters. The story weaves through over 25 varied locations, with clever twists and turns as a diabolically sinister plot races to a surprise ending you will never guess.

Amazing book! Exciting edge of your seat ride from the beginning to the end. The writing was full of details that made you feel that you were there. Many characters developed with depth. This book has it all, from romance, to murder mystery, cyber, art, and tying it all together the underlying them of karma, knowing that the bad guys will get what is coming to them somehow in the end. Highly recommend this book!!

When I started reading this book, it was 11 pm and by the time I had finished, it was 3 am the next day. Yes, the book is lengthy but definitely unputdownable.

The story is all about people and their conscience. Some people listen to their inner voice and some don't. Yet, it is conscience which succeeds in bringing out the best in a person. Also, it is the inner voice which helps a person choose and make a choice. However, the resultant consequences may be actions that can be good, bad or bit of both. If I say that Karma and conscience are linked, I won't be wrong.

The narration is beautiful. In fact, it keeps you really engrossed. Its like becoming a part of the story without realizing. There are places where Martin leaves a clue and this makes the story even more engaging. Simply put, the story has a soul of its own which definitely reaches out to a reader's heart. The story brings out human emotions in a very realistic manner. There is pain, desperation, love, sloth, complexes, empathy, integrity, you name it and they are there.

All the characters are as real as real people can be. They emote, express and experience. As is said, the good always triumph, good things happen with the good-hearted people, that is, those with a conscience.

To sum up, I can read this story again and again and never get tired. It is a mind blowing story. A must read for all those who believe in the existence of conscience. I listened to my conscience and read this awesome book. I hope you do it too.

P.S - Martin's story is as immortal as his soul. Your story will touch zillion hearts Martin. Rest in peace.

The Conscience is an excellent mystery novel with elements of karma, redemption, and a love story. I loved the development of the characters, especially Jack Goodwin and his honest tenacious demeanor for seeking truth. I highly recommend this novel and it makes a great book club choice to discuss among friends!

Very engaging read with realistic characters, who display a wide range of emotions. If you are like me, in that you appreciate the theory that good and right win, you will enjoy this one.

This is such a good story. It's kind of a good trumps bad type of thing but in a realistic way. I thought it was pretty awesome to see how differently the characters acted and if they listened or ignored their inner voice. That was definitely interesting to read.

The title of the book is what the story is about, people and their consciences. The characters felt very lifelike in the way they handled situations. That almost never happens when I read a book, I never feel like they could be real.

The dialogue and narration were nicely written which made the story run very smoothly. This is an exciting page turner that everyone should read.
