I have read the Wattpad version of this masterpiece.....twice. Each time the same wonder at the marvellous storyline, a deep connection with every single character, and each time the goosebumps. The author uses wit and humor to keep us pinned to a devastating reality, and literally just shows us what it means to be human- through a zombie ( I kid you not). This is no Warm Bodies, it's a constant fight against a world full of demons and darkness, and trying to picture silver linings where there are none. There is no hope, the protagonist Eve never once doubts that. But she's okay penguining through anyway, and that makes her story so special.
I recommend this book to anyone with a pair of ears around me, and trust me, once you're done with this piercing account of a zombie, you will too.
I need to be honest--I picked up Eve by an accident, but it was the best decision I made in a very long time. It's not like anything I've read so far.
This book has totally blown me away with its beautifully and creatively written story about not so ordinary girl, that actually is a zombie (yes, you've heard me well).
I love how past events are combined with the present ones. Everything felt so real.
There wasn't a single moment I was bored or disinterested in a character's backstory. The humor was well-measured and kept me entertained throughout the journey from Los Angeles to New York.
Eve made me laugh, (almost) made me cry and in general, made me care for her and Levon. Even though I'm not a big fan of zombies, this story has convinced me that they can actually be interesting, not only all gross and stuff.
"My name is Eve."
That's all you need to know to pick this book up. Believe me, you won't regret it. I certainly don't.
I rly liked the plot and the ideas of an apocalyptic novel written from the perspective of a zombie, but (although I do know it's intentional) I didn't like the writing style... I liked it at first but then I started to get annoyed by it
This was such a fun, creative and absolutely hilarious read! This is the first time I came across a zombie PoV. I can't say I liked the ending, but I loved the overall story and the witty writing!
While reading Eve I thought it was a little long-dreaded but the thing is that you get so much into the story it doesn't matter that things go slow because slowly that's what you start to enjoy about the book. It makes the unknown exciting, keeping you wondering what comes next. Besides the amazing humour of Eve, the amusing analogies, and everything but a flat character, on top of that there is this storyline that is so realistic and gives a perfect idea of what a true zombie apocalypse would look like. The only thing that I loved and didn't like was the ending. IT WAS AN AMAZING ENDING, DON'T GET ME WRONG. But why did you make me go through emotional hell? But overall a great book to read.
I really like this book and the different perspective that it takes on the zombie apocalypse. It is cleverly written with witty banter that makes the apocalypse not as dreary as everyone portrays it. We follow a vegan zombie which is a different take on the genre. The ending is sad but it is oddly fitting for this story and isn't super stereotypical. I liked the book a lot.
ok i finally give up on this. maybe one day i'll reread it entirely it but i just,,,, not any time soon. normally i dont leave ratings/reviews on books i dnf but since this was a partial reread i will.
in short: the main issue with this book is the fatphobia. eve cannot get through a whole chapter it feels like without making a comment on levon's weight or just fat people in general. the most wtf quote i remember off the top of my head was something like
"my aunt was fat. like, acceptable fat. like a-couple-too-many-Big-Macs-a-month fat. not like, disgustingly fat"
and aside from that i just didn't find it funny anymore. eve's narration just bored me. the jokes just did not land imo and there were a few instances that felt very im-not-like-other-girlsy. but yeah mainly the fatphobia was vile. the 2nd star is mainly for nostalgia ig 🤷♀️ but that might change
Good different story from the zombie's perspective but MUCH better and more realistic than Warm Bodies. Orginally discovered work from this author on Reddit; pleased to see him with books on Amazon now.
What a fun read! A vegan zombie (non-human eater) meets up with human nerd and forms a friendship. Lighthearted, funny, and tender to boot! Very clever and enjoyable.
