This adventure with finding the secret papyrus all began with a call from Geronimo Stilton’s grand father. He was talking about the Black Papyrus and how he didn’t talk about it in the newspaper he wrote. Soon Geronimo Stilton was surprised how the Black Papyrus had gotten so famous and even with that he still had no clue what it was. Since Geronimo Stilton was desperate to figure out what the Black Papyrus was, he went to a museum where the Black Papyrus is kept, and where his friend that is a professor, and he knows all about the Black Papyrus. When Geronimo Stilton finally got into the museum because of the long line, he met the professor, and learned all about the Black Papyrus! Soon Geronimo Stilton discovered that the Black Papyrus was gone, and they are trying to catch the thief, but the mouse is nowhere to be found. He also discovered that his friend is in horrible danger because his friend is the only one who knows how to read the papyrus, and soon the theif will mousenap him! HOW WILL GERONIMO STILTON CATCH THE THIEF, AND PROTECT HIS FRIEND?! READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!!!
In this installment of the colorful series, Geronimo is summoned to the mouseum to get the scoop on an ancient Egyptian papyrus that purportedly holds the secret to eternal youth. A scheduled exhibition of the papyrus has townsmice waiting in line for hours. But when the papyrus and the machine that can unfold it without damaging it both disappear, even Geronimo comes under suspicion from the secret agents sent to guard the treasure. A series of mishaps and planted clues lead Geronimo to discover the identities of the papyrus thieves and recover the missing machine and papyrus. Professor Sandsnout deciphers the papyrus’ secret and Geronimo publishes it for all the residents of New Mouse City. An added bonus is a brief story about a group of bank robbers that uses a cat hologram in its heists to scare the citizens. Clues within the text invite readers to help catch the Cat Gang. Back pages as usual feature silly mouse riddles for fun. The narrative is peppered with Geronimo’s cheesy expressions and puns and vivid illustrations. The fast-paced and stimulating text is filled with bright colored fonts and bolded words to keep intermediate readers entertained. The colored, bolded words and funky fonts often give clues to the word itself or its meaning, a nice feature for ELLs. Geronimo’s witty narration and the brief chapters will keep even reluctant readers engaged. This light easy read is a welcome addition to any school library.
Much fascinating material diluted by relentless name checks of all the other authors’ works the writer is familiar with. The writer is also rarely content to make a good point concisely but rather labors it with excessive repetition. The personal recollections are often engaging but also derails the narrative all too often. Still, I learned a lot and got something out of it, but I estimate it was about a third too long. Eliminate most of the repetitions, name dropping, and walks down memory lane and this would have been a much more engaging read.
A fabumouse adventure! Loved it! Love how creatively this book is written! The illustrations were mousetastic! Geronimo is such a clever mouse. I loved the little mouselets Benjamin and Bugsy Wugsy. An entertaining read with lots of twists and turns. I hope to read more Geronimo Stilton books in the future. I would recommend reading this to anyone who wants to try a cute mystery that is filled with funny scenes.
I liked this book because it had two stories instead of one. There were also jokes at the end. In the first story there were mummies. In the second one there was a team of mice that had a hologram of a cat named cat cat.
I love a good story about the ancient Egyptians and this one did not disappoint. It had all the artifacts, ancient mysteries, and long lost wisdom I could ever want. Plus an extra Geronimo Stilton story afterwards that deals with bank robbing and tigers. Loved it!
I love this series and its jokes oh and their mini story's. At the end it will be super surprising. Because the criminal is someone we thought we could trust. And the person we thought would be the criminal is not weird part.
My favorite part of this book were the thieves. They were really sneaky and pretended to be security guards. I didn't really like the second story in this book.

I liked the Hunt For The Secret Papyrus and also the mini mystery story - "The Cat Gang". I was able to answer all the clue questions in "The Cat Gang" - felt like I was part of Geronimo's team.
