He’s been sober for three years now, and is about to star in a grand scale come-back movie. Messing up now will mean the end of his career, and possibly his marriage. To get ready, he's rented a cottage in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina where they will start filming in a month. Although he’s thousands of miles from his family and friends, he’s looking forward to the upcoming challenges.
But on his first day there, the trouble started with a car crash. Then he found a body in the woods.
Or did he?
When the sheriff arrives, it’s nowhere to be seen.
There are more dark deeds brewing in the mountains. An explosion starts a wildfire in the woods behind his cottage. Then a rockslide pushes his car off the road.

Dark Deeds by Alice Sabo is indeed a novel full of dark happenings that involve one person each time, Asher, a man who has changed his ways and staying away from alcohol and drugs. Asher isn't sure if he just has the worst luck of all or if someone is really trying their best to kill him off. Asher is currently working on doing a new movie that may make him a big star. But things like two car crashes, a rock slide, and fire explosions is causing an un easy settling in the pit of his stomach. His dresser, makeup artist and his wife are worried about him and his current injuries. Will Asher make it through the movie set alive or will someone make sure that he doesn't?
Alice Sabo has written an intriguing and suspenseful story that readers will never want to stop reading. A real page turner. Dark Deeds will keep readers hooked from the first page and keep them lured in as the tragic accidents keep happening. As a reader, I was instantly lured in by Asher, a character who obviously had some major flaws in the beginning and is working his hardest to overcome those flaws by the people around him especially his wife. I loved how the character overcame these flaws but still carried some with him as the plot unfolded. Asher is definitely one character that readers will be interested for a long time to come. Overall, I rate Dark Deeds a five out of five stars and highly recommend reading it.
I received a copy of this book as a Goodreads giveaway winner.
This is the first Alice Sabo book I have read, but it won't be the last. Dark Deeds in the second in a series of mysteries. I have not read the first in series but that didn't take away from the reading of Dark Deeds.
The main character in Dark Deeds, Asher, is a character that one can't help but like. His imperfections are humanizing and it's easy to want to see him succeed. While his past may be a bit more wrecked than others, he's trying to make sure he doesn't make the same mistakes again. Unfortunately, he seems to have an uncanny knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the end, that knack makes him hero.
Dark Deeds is a quick, fast paced read that will leave you wanting to follow Archer on his next accidental adventure.
I received a copy from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review. This was a very well written book. I have not read the first book in the series, but this book was written in a way that a new reader could still follow the characters and the story was not dependent on the first book.I really enjoyed the representation of addiction throughout the text as it brings up many of the hardships of addiction that occur even after a person stops using. I also liked that the book wasn't solely about Asher's addiction, but rather it came up during events of the story (especially stressful ones) to demonstrate the added pressure addiction has on everyday life (although Asher's adventures are far more stressful than the every day). The story was suspenseful with a lot of characters that got a little hard to keep track of at times, but overall this was a good book.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO GOODREADS FRIST READ AND TO THE AUTHOR ALICE SABO FOR THIS BOOK.
I enjoyed reading Dark Deeds by Alice Sabo. The story was fast paced and packed with action. I can appreciate the double meaning behind the title. The main character Asher is not perfect, however he does become an endearing character. Asher always seems to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. I liked the quirky but steady costume designer Bunny and the enigmatic Aunt Sue. I thought the author perfectly captured the tug of war between past and present you find in Appalachia. I look forward to another Asher Blaine book.
I had received a copy of the story through the Goodreads First Reads Program in exchange for an honest review, and Dark Deeds was an easy and entertaining read. I was glad that I was able to fully understand the plot without having read the first book in the series. I practically finished the book as soon as I picked it up.
A recovering addict actor, trying to make a comeback, surrounded by mischief... could be interesting! I started this book with mediocre expectations, but was pleasantly surprised! This was a very good read, all the bases were covered. We saw family intrigue, recovering addiction, current addiction, pain, violence, meth labs, we even got a strange woman showing up in a man's bed! Okay, that last one's not exactly what you're thinking, but... I really enjoyed this tale, it's worth a read!
