Shane and Cindy have hated each other for as long as they've been stepsiblings. Will their parent’s last request change anything or will it change everything? Cindy My stepdad, Jim, was an amazing man. Perfect, except with him came his son – the Devil. Life was wonderful until Shane showed up. I’m always in control unless he’s around. He has a way of unraveling me to the point that I’m a twisted mess – just like him. I’ve managed to stay away from Shane most of my adult life, until Mom and Jim’s death. Their last request makes that impossible now. My life will never be the same after this journey with my cocky, arrogant stepbrother.
Shane When Dad married Barbara, life slapped me in the face with Cindy – the princess. She liked to sit on her pedestal and look down on the rest of us. Where I'm easy going, she's a control freak. We’ve spent our whole lives avoiding each other, now we’re forced to spend time together to fulfill our parent’s last request. I was determined to make the best of it for my Dad and Barb. Being near her is even harder than I imagined, because I want her—and it’s driving me mad. This trip could be the most important thing I’ve ever done in my life, it’s what our parents wanted for us . . . but I’m not sure they wanted this.
****** Two people on a journey from the heart. Will this change their lives forever or will it completely destroy what little relationship they have left?
I loved this book! I'm so glad Shane and Cindy finally opened their eyes to what was there all along and did some growing up. Cindy was a little bit of a crybaby at times but it all worked out. I definitely can't wait for Sierra's next book!
I absolutely fell in love with this story! Right from the start I was intrigued with this unique storyline. At first, I wasn't too sure I was going to like the heroine, Cindy, but it didn't take long to realize that she shows her emotions differently than most people do. She comes off as a hateful bitch at first but a little way into the story you learn that she's a strong independent woman who doesn't take crap from anyone, that uses anger as her go to emotion, especially when her feelings are hurt or she's upset cause she believes that it will make her look weak. Of course she's also a control freak and when she doesn't have or looses control of a situation, she doesn't handle it very well. She is dealing with very emotional circumstances and does show her softer side more often than she'd like, but it also makes her even more likeable. Then we have our sexy, cocky, carefree Hero, Shane. I liked him right from the start with his playful and easy going attitude. Of course the sexy part didn't hurt either! Lol! He's the type that has never taken life too seriously, just goes with the flow of things, only worries about or considers himself in any situation, and even though he's successful with his own business, he still thinks life is just about fun. While learning about their parents final wishes, he realizes that these are definitely unusual circumstances and even though he's hurting and showing his emotional side, he knows that he is going to have to man up and be responsible to give them their final wish. This story will leave you an emotional mess! One minute you're crying and your heart is breaking for them, and the next you'll be laughing out loud at their antics! I love how real Mrs. Rayne's characters are, they're definitely not perfect, they have quirks just like everyone does, they're easily relatable, and just like people that you may know or would meet in everyday life. I believe that adds so much to her story, along with the great storyline, the banter and the forbidden love between the H and h, the real life situations make it not only believable but also make you feel as if you're a part of it, all the different emotions it causes, of course you can't forget the steamy, hot as sin sex, which overall makes this one fantastic book! I really enjoy Mrs. Rayne's writing style, her stories have a smooth flow, they bring out all kinds of emotions, very likeable and relatable characters and sub-characters, and the down to earth style makes for a very enjoyable read. Even though this only her second book to be released, I believe Mrs. Rayne has a lot of talent and promise. I will definitely be reading more from her in the future. I strongly recommend this book!
I was gifted a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review.
I am sorry for being late with the review... I need to say that this book is really one of the best books I had a chance to read... This book had me smiling, crying and sobbing like a fool, it made me hot and it made me wanting for love as I read it more and more. When I started reading I just couldn't stop and that is what matters in a good story... I want to congratulate Sierra. This book is amazing and I am sorry again for being late with the review.

Wow!!! I loveee this book so much! At first it was cheeky and not so special. Just step sibling hate each other to the bone! Indeed, the main story was in the middle of the book and each page going better and better and suddenly I was in the last page and wow... I like it very much.
At the early chapters, the hero was a hero-I-like-to-hate. He seems so innocent. So painfully careless, and his innocent bring the heroine into bad luck. Many times. And he only came with, from the deepest of my heart and soul I ask you to forgive me bla bla bla and the heroine FORGIVE HIM. Hm... no no no, my friend. This world doesn't work like this to me. But never mind. Let it go.
Because the story after that carelessness was beautiful! Easy to follow and sometimes make me gritted my teeth but it was okay as long as it ended with HEA!!
I think I didnt hate a male main character as much as I hated Shane in a Long time. Mainly he behaves like an asshole. Following situations would have been a no go for me and therefore I would never interacted with him again: The Story as Kids in the supermarked (not funny) The Story with the waitress shortly after Cindy gave him a BJ (whats wrong with him) The whole Story with the canoe (what a dumb fucker he is) The Story when Cindy tries to saves their asses and he calls her a whore thereupon
This was everything too much. Unfortunately we didnt learn if she likes his asshole friends in the end or if they are no more Friends with him
Im getting aggressive while thinking about this book and Shane. I dont know who likes such characters. I dont. I think it was unbearable. There is a difference between a prank and that what Shane did. Asshole.
I liked this book, but the heroine, Cindy, was pretty wretched to the hero, Shane. I mean a complete witch to him most of the time. I really don't get why he kept trying and apologizing constantly to her. I did love the premise of the book, it was a different plot and kept my interest.
I cried so much while reading this book and I couldn't stop reading it to save my life. Sierra has written another fantastic story that makes me want to jump in and read it all over again.
Illicit is a good, quick Stepbrother romance book, with some hot sex scenes. It's well written, and the story has good flow. If you're looking for a quick read, that you can finish within a day, this book is what you're looking for. Plus, I love books with HEA endings and no cliffhangers.
Cindy is a grieving the loss of her mom and step dad. Her entire world is in turmoil. Then Colin family friend and lawyer says that there is an addendum to the will that entails both Cindy and her step brother Shane. Cindy is not happy as they don't get along at all.
Shane is also grieving the loss of his dad and stepmother. He is a great guy who lives live with few ties other then his professional ones. When he finds out about the special addendum he is looking forward to it. He likes to give Cindy a hard time but its all in good fun.
As they go on the adventure their parents planet for them they learn about each other. They also learn about them selves. Through the easy times and hard its how they cope that makes this a wonderful story. When an obstacle comes up that threatens to tear them apart for good, how will they deal with come out of it? Have they built a strong enough tie to make it through?
I absolutely loved this book! It has everything in it to make you keep reading until you finish it. You will go from laughing to crying and back again!
This was my first stepbrother romance read, and I enjoyed taking the grief-filled trip with Shane and Cindy. There were times I hated them both.
They are both highly emotional after losing their parents. They never really got along as teens, so the idea of a two-week road trip isn't anything either is looking forward to. But they do it because it's their parents last wish.
It's a rollercoaster of a read filled with some steamy sex scenes and some jerk moves on both of their behalf. I'd recommend this book if you like drama, controversy, and a HEA.
