Forget undead corpses searching for brains. These zombies crave a different kind of head that keeps them young forever. Club Zombie offers safe haven, providing sexy ways to extract what they need from patrons, and the opportunity to find their destined mate.
Alex Waterman is ashamed of his “vile, unnatural desires” and lives a in a desolate world of loneliness and suffering until discovering… it’s not his life. Suddenly he’s swept away to a place where his desires aren't evil, they’re a mark of the dominant he’s born to be, and appreciative stares and aggressive flirting replace fear and self-loathing. But one night stands aren’t on the menu: Alex seeks “the one” to complete the missing piece of his soul.
Boy-next-door Ulrich calls to Alex, as does the gorgeous but self-destructive Cutter, and an element of irresistible danger clings to bad boy Storm. How can Alex decide between three tempting possibilities?
Z. believes in soul mates, love at first sight, and overcoming all odds to find happily ever afters. Born in Upstate NY, Z. Allora and partner have spent the last fifteen years together traveling across the United States, the Middle East and Asia. These travels provide the inspiration behind many of the detailed settings and characters throughout Z.'s work. Z. received a Master degree in Psychology and Bachelor degrees in both English and Philosophy. (though Z's editors would probably question the English degree). Z. is both a writer and a huge fan of M/M romance as well as Yaoi. It is said the pen is mightier than the sword. Z. thinks all writers and publishers of M/M are promoting equality, since everyone deserves a happily ever after.
I love this book! The story was incredibly hot, but more than that it is a sweet story about four boys finding each others to love for eternity. At time, the story started very sad, but gradually it became a love story that focused on hope and self-discoveries for all four main characters, Alex, Ulrich "Uli", Ethan "Storm", and Cutler "Cutter". I won't give out any spoilers, but, there will be good times, sad times, confusing times and even hilarious times involving each of the boys alone and together. Read the story if you like intense passions, or just read it because is great, Z. Allora delivered yet again another magnificent story about the young and in love. I am dancing with anticipation for the next zombie series. Z, you are a great writer! Thank you!
A totally different twist on zombies. They suck heads, but it's not brains they're after. Zombies Suck also pushes past the familiar destined mates scenario to ask a few hard questions: how do you figure out who's destined for you? What if you're drawn to more than one? What if one of them is so troubled you're not sure you can be what they need?
If you've read anything by Z. Allora, then you already know that her stories are unique and have a tendency to take established tropes and turn them on their heads. And she deftly handles one of my favorite literary situations: someone who has been seriously beaten down yet arises from the ashes with the help of--himself. Yes, there are friends and guides along the way, but in the end, our hero Alex takes a stand to become who he was destined to be.
At times fun, sexy, gripping, and eyeopening, this second offering of Z. Allora's Zombies series is an erotic adventure you won't soon forget.
I had the pleasure of beta reading this work. Many might think this would make me biased, which is why I've declined to add a rating.
Meh. It's been years since I've read book 1, but if I'm remembering correctly, this might have had a bit more story. I didn't hate it. I can't really say i liked it though. But it does have an interesting take on zombies.
4.5 Stars This is such an accurate title for this book!! They literally do! When I first started reading MM this authors Dark Angels Series was one of the first things I read. She immediately became a favourite. Zallora always gives us imperfect characters full of fun and snark and they always have to put a little work in to get their happy endings. Oh and all her characters are HOT! Zallora has created a world of Zombies but they are certainly not Zombies that we have all grown up to recognise. You will not find them sucking brains or walking like they have rigor mortis. No, these Zombies are sexy and looking for their mates. The one thing they need to survive is male essence - yep they need spunk! We met Ulrich briefly in the first book of the series and as we start this book he is whisked away to live in America at the ‘Zombie commune’ as his uncle has once again been abusing him. Re-united with his cousin he soon settles into life and has no problem at all coming to terms with his new life. His roommate Alex is delicate and damaged and in desperate need of cuddle and human/zombie touch. Beaten constantly by his now deceased mother his fear and sometimes disgust with himself is still ingrained. The more time he spends with Ulrich the more he comes out of his shell but he is constantly warring with his emotions. As shy as he is he sometimes feels the overriding need to dominate and this leaves him even more confused. Cutler and Storm are two humans who have been spending a lot of time at Club Zombie. Cutler or Cutter to his friends is very aptly named and has some serious problems that he is working through. He is in love with his best friend Storm, who has his own issues, but knows that Storm only wants him as a friend. Ulrich knows that Cutler is his mate but is unable to do anything about it until his transition on his 19th birthday. He feels torn between wanting his mate and the love he feels for his best friend Alex. He is also surprised to find himself with feeling for Storm leaving him very confused and frustrated. When Alex finally seeks advice about his growing unrest and feelings of dominance it appears that the situation between the 4 men may not be as dire as he first thought. With another transition in his very near future he must become strong enough to be able to give the men in his life what they need....but first he get over his refusal to either masturbate or orgasm and then he must convince them it is possible. Another winner from Z!!!
I really liked this follow up book to Zombies Ahead. Sweet, smart and sexy, this tale of four young adult men who fall in love while struggling with their individual identities was a joy to read. Like the first book I was impressed by the depth and layers brought to each character. I fully appreciated how the boys learned how to gain self acceptance as they discovered the crucial individual roles they played to make their quartet complete. All the boys suffered in their youths and formed nourishing bonds with one another, each offering unique character traits that filled the collective voids of their lovers. The supernatural aspect added levity and humor to the story, enhancing what could have stood alone as a poignant tale of very human emotions and relationships.
Oh yeah, there was also a lot of delicious and naughty sex!
It was nice to see Alex finally coming out of his shell and embrace his dominant side. His secondary transformation was really cool. He knows that Uri is supposed to be his mate...but there are some others boys (Storm and Cutter) that are luring him in as well.
That crazy "I Never" drinking game was pretty damn hot. The more the merrier, I say!
Zombies Suck is the second book in the ‘Club Zombie’ series. It stars four main characters: Alex Waterman, Ulrich, Cutter and Storm. The story is told in third person from each of their povs.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book but it will be rereleased on September 19!
This is book 2 in the Club Zombie series which is a unique spin on a classic zombie. The author describes it best, "Forget undead corpses searching for brains. These zombies crave a different kind of head that keeps them young forever."
I thought book 2 was less good than book 1. I will say book 2 had a focus on BDSM which I'm not a big fan of. It also featured an MMMM relationship which I felt wasn't as flushed out as I would have liked. There are old hurts that weren't really soothed enough for me. I also have a HUGE problem with Storm's attitude- there is a time for attitude and a time for serious and he doesn't know it.
Overall, a solid story featuring multiple partners and lots of sucking . I still really appreciate this authors creative approach and look forward to the next book.
We met Ulrich and Alex in the previous book of this series. They're roommates. They both care for each other and hope they're mates, but Ulrich senses he's masters with their new friend Cutter. Cutter and Storm are best friends. They both care deeply for each other, but Storm seems intent on denying the truth. All of these men are flawed and horribly damaged by their their pasts. When it becomes apparent they're all mates, it's up to Alex to step up, be in charge and guide them through this new development. Eventually, they all conquer their fears with support and love from each for for a much deserved HEA. I've definitely enjoyed this series so far and can't can't wait to to continue.
This is the second book in Club Zombie series and it is as good as book 1. The plot is brilliant and the unbelievable premise of the series keep bringing up some funny moments and a lot of hot scenes and kinky situations. This M/M/M/M book showed us the love as fated Zombie mates between Alex, Ulrich, Storm and Cutter and also explain in more detail what beeing a Zombie entails and how become one if your don’t have the genetic mutation. Another way to see the Zombie Apocalypse. Interesting, funny, smart, cute, hot.... I don’t know what other words use to explain how good this book is. Loved it!!! I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Wow. This is so great story from the author, and it's back in a fresher version. in this book we meet Alex who is on his search for his mate. He has some issues burried deep inside himself that he has to figure out. Uli and Alex shares a room, and together they finds out a lot of things. They are even having some hot moments, and when they both discovers there are a few others intheir mix, things starts to happen. If you want to know what happens I suggest you buy this book. Characters are done well and this is a light kinkie story but has some welldone underlaying themes. I need more of this.
Zombies Suck by Z Allora is the second book in the Club Zombie series. This is a very fun paranormal read about hot and sexy men who turn out to be Zombies, but not your average, everyday gore zombies.... these zombies need the essence of males to continue to live and thrive! And they also are on the search for the one... or in this case, soulmates.
Alex, Uli, Storm and Cutter are a perfect mix of sweetness and creaminess. Their story is fun and entertaining and makes me want more Club Zombie books right away. This series is unique and definitely holds your attention.
I read the first book in the series and wavered between a 3 and 4 star rating. I went with 3. I went into this book excited to read more about Alex and Uli, then Storm and Cutter. I could not connect with any of them. I forced myself to finish this book in fits and starts but I will say that I do appreciate the creativity of the story line. So, it could be that Zombie's don't do anything for me? Not sure, but I just could not connect and I do read a wide variety of genres. I will pick up the next books in the series because it IS creative.
Two sets of best friends all finding love together. I hated the Storm’s worries continued to hurt Cutter while Ulrich keeps pushing Alex away with his belief that he is meant to only be with Cutter. This was cute and I enjoyed the zombie world they are in. I don’t know the story was good but felt a little bit drawn out and so much internal worrying that didn’t get talked about much. I do want to read the next book when it is re-released because I want to see how it continues to turn out for this community.
I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.
I was hooked with the characters, the other reviews, and the synopsis. Overall, this was a good read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this in one sitting. It wasn't perfect tho. Some chemistry needed more development, some issues needed more tackling, etc. But in no way did those stuff make me drop the book and abandon it. I was looking for an MMM+ with a sprinkle of paranormal/supernatural/whatever and this book had it and was an answer to my prayers.
OMG, this books is hilariously funny and very sweet. Uli, Storm, Cut, and Alex are all so sweet and all have so many issues on their own, but when you put them together, all the issues seem to fit together really well so that their issues aren't even a problem anymore.
I love the way that everything works out in this book.
This is the story of Alex, Ulrich, Storm and Cutter. It is original and unique. There are lots of emotional ups and downs that keeps you turning the pages. Chemistry is off the charts and makes for a very steamy read. Written well. Very funny and sweet.
I received this book as an Arc and I am reviewing it voluntarily.
This was truly a very different take on the zombie universe, and for that, major kudos towards originality. I enjoyed getting to know the unique aspects of this world which also had a hint of crossover towards vampires in the blood ritual. As for romance, it felt a little bereft and I had hoped to feel more of a connection between the characters. Still, enjoyable!
This book had MC's with an interesting background and could have been so much more than a fantasy story about sucking zombies. With subjects like abuse and self-harm this book had so much more potential and now just left me with a lot of questions. Also the zombie part wasn't thought through enough for my liking. So I feel a bit dissapointed.
I absolutely LOVED this marvelous, funny, funky, grab-you-by-the-feels, smoking hot, amazing, totally awesome, and definitely delightfully different story that takes the classic zombie storyline and gives it a fantastic, fresh, and original twist.
I really enjoy this series with its unique, fun, sexy take on zombies. Great characters, and I enjoyed the multiple MM partnerships. Looking forward to more in the series.
I received a complimentary ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Hot, sexy, and angsty!! Just what I wanted. And you get double the friends to lovers. Holy moly when the transitions happen, dang I’m still fanning myself. Please keep them coming,(pun intended lol)!!!
I just couldn’t get into this one. The characters were flat and it is very repetitive, very repetitive (see what I did there). Usually I can get behind the whole mate thing with paranormal creatures, but I just wasn’t buying it here. It just didn’t work for me.
New fun zombies. Sexy zombies who would have thought...I felt the heart and longing along with not only the MCs but the very lovely Cassidy (who story I can't wait to read!!!) So if you like your humor and hot sex with a little kink you will love this series! The authors writting style is one I like and you easily visualize her stories, props, and characters.
I actually had some difficulties rating this one. There were parts which blew me away and other which were too rushed and left me a little confused.
The beginning of this book was awesome. With one chapter I knew what happened to Alex, one of the main characters as well as how the zombie society worked, brilliant and good for me since I didn´t read the first book. You are thrown in the middle of Alex´s nightmare and what he had to go through left me soo angry at his mother and rooting for him. That he can´t deal with sex is very well explained but placed him in a difficult position. First he needs male essence to survive and secondly he feels himself drawn to three men….yes you read that right THREE….jumping up and down…. a foursome :D
The three men are his best friend Ulli, also a zombie and two humans Cutter and Storm. They are in their own way very likeable characters with flaws and a difficult past. All of them have to solve problems on their own and need different things from life, except of course love. They are all very well fleshed out. This story is primarily told from Alex point of view but you also get to know Ulli, Cutter and Storm´s points of view which I enjoyed a lot. As they finally found a way to be together….huge smile here and it was yummy.
From those four, Alex is the only one who recognizes early on that they are meant to be together. This knowledge arose when his second transition to a dominant zombie begins. And here I had a problem. Not with Alex being a Dom but how fast that moved. It was like from victim to Dom in one second. Felt like a whole chapter was missing and I had to struggle with this transformation. Also I didn´t like that I was repeatedly told who the mate of whom was. One time for every person would have been enough, for me at least. The other thing confusing for me was that I stumbled upon a few contradictions, e.g. Alex says he is dominant and a few pages later he was surprised as somebody told him exactly the same thing. I had an “um what?” moment here and it threw me out of the story.
Beside that I really liked this book. This story is a journey about four persons who look for love and find it. The characters are all hot as hell but imperfect which has it´s own kind of allure for me. There were sad parts but also fun, hot ones. If you want to read about zombies of a different sort then look no further read this :) .
A copy of the ebook was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
****Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance®**** Zombies Suck is the second installment in the Club Zombies series. This is the second edition of this novel but I am not sure what, if anything, was changed from the first edition other than the cover (which is lovely, by the way). It takes place a few years after Zombies ahead. Caroline reviewed the first edition here and gave it 4.5 Stars.
Unfortunately I found this book lost some of the light heartedness of the first book. Our characters are much more damaged and their backgrounds and descriptions of abuse were really hard to read at times.
While I liked the idea of a foursome, and I could see how this one worked as far as personalities meshing, getting there seemed to take forever and felt cumbersome. Many of the intimate scenes in the first half of the book existed in dreams and fantasies rather than in person and those in person were as pairs. When they finally all got together though, it was hot. There is lots of kink with a BDSM flavour as well as a milking machine(!) that made things interesting on that front.
I did like Alex and seeing him heal from his trauma. He was my favourite of the four. Uli was sweet and I wanted him happy. I wanted Cutter to stop hurting and Storm… well he just seemed to be there. I didn’t really feel like we got to know him well.
One other note, there were a few editing errors: letters missing from words and the wrong words being used, like “obliviously” instead of “obviously”, which took me out of the story.
However, it was still an entertaining story and I am waiting to see if the other zombies looking for mates get theirs! If you are looking for damaged boys finding love with kink, this definitely has that!
REVIEW: Zombies are anything BUT the stereotypical undead corpses looking for brains to eat. They’re just guys needing a certain protein-semen-to survive. Club Zombie gives them a safe haven to get all the ejaculate they need from the patrons, and also the opportunity to find their destined mate.
Alex Waterman’s life is a desolate place of suffering. For as long as he can remember, his mother has labeled him as vile, and that he should be ashamed of his “unnatural desires”. When he’s swept away to Club Zombie, he discovers that what he’s been told his whole life was a lie, and that his desires are the mark of the dominant that he’s destined to be. Instead of fear and loathing, he gets appreciative stares, and aggressive flirting. Alex has no time for casual sex, because he’s looking for the male destined to be “the one”. Alex finds himself torn between his roommate Ulrich, Cutter the self-destructive man who needs grounding, and bad boy Storm who has an irresistible air of danger around him. Unable to choose between the three, Alex decides to keep all three.
Zombies Suck is the second book in Z Allora’s fascinating Club Zombies series. This character driven story has a smooth plot flow, and takes the usual concept of zombies, shakes it up, then turns it on its head. Ms. Allora does a fantastic job of building a world where zombies are not scary undead creatures, just misunderstood guys who need a special protein to survive. The sex starts out simmering, then steamy, then straight through to scorching!! Her style of writing is fresh, original, and crisp, taking you on a wild ride from start to finish. The book has a very unusual HEA ending that I really enjoyed, and all I can say is, if you’re looking for something unique and different to help pass a few hours, then this is definitely the tale for you!
This was highly entertaining if a bit sad because of the back stories of the MCs. Unlike the first book where you got a lot of info on who the zombies were and how their club and community was run, book #2 focuses on two zombie best friends, and two human best friends and how their lives will connect and never be the same again.
The story is pretty deep and deals with some pretty heavy issues like past emotional and physical abuse from parents, grief over the death of a parent, self mutilation, fear of coming out.
Underneath all the heavy is the push to accept and love oneself in spite of circumstances, so that you are free to accept and love others.
I love the community and family dynamic among the zombies. They may not all be related by blood, but they are by love and that's an even stronger bond.
I loved this story for its message, for its comedy, for the strong characters, and the excellent world building. I look forward to more books in this series.
