Strong relationships are the key to personal and professional success. That's the lesson that Robert Hanson, owner of a struggling insurance agency, is about to learn. As you follow the transformative journey of Robert and his business, you'll discover seven simple yet powerful rules for building business one relationship at a time. Whether you are looking to move ahead in your career or grow a company, this book will galvanize you into action and provide a clear path to success. The popular business parable from Patrick Galvin, The Connector’s Way, builds on the relationship-building themes of classics such as The Go-Giver by Bob Burg, The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino, and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
Patrick Galvin, a dynamic speaker, TEDx presenter, author, and coach, is the chief galvanizer at The Galvanizing Group. He champions the power of relationship building and offers practical, actionable strategies that help companies and teams strengthen their internal and external relationships, leading to measurable results. His books serve as practical guides that inspire people to adopt the relationship-building principles he teaches and embodies.
I connected (yes, pun intended) with this book right away. The Connector's Way is a business parable with a clear message: you can succeed in business by concentrating on building relationships. While the book is an easy read, it offers practical and useful suggestions for connecting with others.
I read this book as it was a free download. It is an easy book to get through but OMG the words are to live by. Building relationship one at a time can be and will be the back bone of any business, even in today's world of everything being instant.
Great book about reminding us how important relationships are to our business. Excellent examples to explain what to do and how. I have seen Patrick speak and he is a very dynamic And effective communicator. This book is a must read and can be read in a short amount of time. Well worth it!
Lots of wisdom in a little book. Manage a sales team and these short vignettes bring home what we need to be doing. Highly recommend as a breezy tune up to reinforce the focus on building the business through relationships.
This book boiled down Galvin's business philosophy in a very simple fictional piece. I enjoyed how short it was and how it wasn't filled with mystical garbage we find so often in business books.
To put it plainly the author believes quality relationships are at the heart of a thriving business. I've noticed this just in my personal life as I removed social media and other obstacles to quality relationships. Social media gave me lots of social interactions yet they were really a hindrance to the quality relationships I craved.
I've noticed that in this shift I've had lots of opportunities arise I didn't expect. Free stuff, cheap stuff, help with projects in working on, and the like. I changed the way I approached relationships because I wanted a quality life and have come to benefit financially from it. Running a business on these principles seems like a no-brainer and I imagine would benefit in much the same way.
Being in the insurance industry, I felt like I connected with this book a bit more. Connected. lol It spoke to me, it showed the value of creating relationships for successful business. The industry is changing and agents that want to succeed need to set themselves apart, this book tells you how. It gives clear examples of what to do in order to succeed in business. I highlighted the heck out of this book so I can refer back. I logged into my LinkedIn right away and started to make changes. I made notes in my planner to set aside time for networking via social media, for time to create a office newsletter and create blog posts for the website. I have a clear plan in the organizations I need to be more active in and the relationships with people I need to cultivate. Implementing the ideas are not hard, are not costly, and will improve several aspects of your life. It's worth the quick read.
Worth the Two Hours Read/Must Read If You Own a Business
The value of the content is 4 stars; however, the writing is more of a 3 star book. It's not the most exciting read, but the value in what Patrick is saying is Five Stars and it is really important. I know as a business owner how important it is to stay accountable and have perspective---especially, when you're struggling. This book reminds us we need to remember your network is your net worth, and you need to show your network you do genuinely care about them, and that you're not just a blood sucking leech who only wants, wants, wants. That energy is exhausting for people to be around and you're just going to push people away and burn bridges with that attitude.
This is a really short read. I listened to it on Audible. Under 2 hours. Worth the time.
A cute although cliche little story about the power of implementing the right principles in your business and life. It’s funny the similarity between this book and my life. I own and run an insurance Agency with my parents and my dad’s dad ran his own insurance agency, so I’m third generation. We implement these principles already in our business, I even drink smoothies in the morning too! It definitely helps with our success to cultivate all the relationships we’ve developed in our community. This book would be great for someone who is not currently implementing these principles as an easy way to see their power.
What does it mean to really understand how to connect - for what purpose - and precisely how do we do it well? Patrick's book is a genuine reflection of a Connector (yes, with a Capital C). He's using the fable format to tell a true story. Seem to good to be true? It's not. As a professional connector myself, the book is useful, real and applicable. As I often teach, anyone who wants to connect, can. Patrick's book lays out a clear example, showing a clear path how to do so. Read & use this book. You'll be glad you did.
Quick and practical rules for building relationships nicely written in a story
I met Patrick in Singapore and got to know about his book. Bought it read it. Through Robert, Patrick has explained beautifully the importance of building relationships for business success. I normally do not read fiction, but, this is a read that will give practical tips for business people to put into practice right away.
I have to be honest, I didn’t expect much from this book, but the reviews were compelling enough to make me take a chance on it. I’m really glad I did. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. The story format is very easy to read, but the lessons are really impactful, and almost every chapter made me think about how I could implement the lesson in that chapter in my life. Oh, and when you read it, get ready for the surprise near the end.
Super cliched story about what actually listening to people will do for you. Quick ready but still 90% too long for the message. Which is, just listen to and have empathy for the people you meet in your life.
The question should be here, how many times can you facepalm in the course of one book?
An entertaining story about how to build your wealth while you help others in doing so. In a few pages you’ll at least learned some tips to do in your daily routine
I started reading and just could not stop. I was finished the same day. So many important nuggets to live and work with. I got excited about selling and networking again because of this book.
You will not regret taking the time to read, focus on and read again this Sam book filled with simple yet masterful insight on building strong relationships. Highly recommended!
This book was well worth the read as a story lessons combined is my kind of book. I would recommend this to anyone who is struggling within your own thoughts to reach out and get inspiration again.
This book come up in business meetings ans classes and conferences very often. Written in similar fashion as “Seven Levels of Communication, it’s a quick refreshing read on the basics of connecting with people and succeeding together.
Had a hard time getting behind some of the occurances in this book since it's fictional. Though it does nicely illustrate the power of forming sincere relationships.
Quick and easy read. I'm not always a fan of the business books presented in story form, but this was one of the better ones. It provides a "Cliff Notes" version of some important ways to build connections with people to grow your business, but if you're looking for specific tactics or strategies, you'll probably need to combine this with a different book. But this does provide some inspiration to do just that. 3.5/5.
