This book actually makes drawing quite a hard practice.
The list of materials would probably cost a thousand dollars, when it is actually a good idea to just get some student materials and start drawing.
I found their models very difficult to copy.
I think this would leave a would-be young artist discouraged.

I love it. I think it provides beginners as well as practising artists an adequate amount of information about every materials/art supplies and art techniques they'll ever need to know. A nice brief introduction. It also is a type of long tutorial/ complete art guide which is organized and synthesised systematically and thoughtfully so you can reduce your time watching a bunch of YouTube tutorials.

Especially, the thing i love most about this book is that it is illustrated and presented really beautifully and aesthetically. The vitage warm colour of the paper brings so much good old memories (haha).

This book is an inspiration for me to make art, as i always love things that are methodical..

It is just a little bit too old, cause i don't think anyone will devote time to make their own sketchbooks nowadays.

4 stars because I was expecting more practical information and guidelines.

Other than this, I think this book is an excellent introduction for someone who wants to start out in the arts. It gives a great variety of samples to decide which style you want to start first and explains the basics of most artist's tools and materials so you can pick what you want to experiment with for a start.

I decided to take up sketching as a hobby. This book had some helpful information, but there wasn't really anything in it that I wanted to try and draw.
