Penny is juggling waitressing and dancing to save the funds so she can renew her bartender license. as she rushes into the casino she's supposed to be working tonight, she's saved by a handsome stranger from tripping over the carpet and making a fool of herself.
the stranger turns out to be jonah, one of the best poker players of the moment, a man who gets what he whats. it seems that her rescuer has set his eyes on her, starting with requesting personally for her to wait on "his" table during the poker tournament. the evening ends on a high when he traps her on his lap while he keeps on winning one poker hand after the other. the buzz of the win getting all kind of things "high".
penny thinks that once his games are done so is she, but jonah has other plans and whisks her up to his penthouse suite in the hotel/casino.
the night is spent so not sleeping! for jonah things aren't normal either, he can't get enough of penny, he doesn't even mind snuggling with her. he even demands she stay at his suite all day and spends another evening with him.
everything seems to go well but things take a different route when jonah has to leave town for his next tournament. penny's co-workers kindly bring her down from her high, telling about all the exploits of jonah with the other girls and woman on the floor. he wines and dines them for a while and then moves to the next. penny somehow doesn't believe them and still hopes to hear from jonah.
how will this couple fare? will penny's wishes come true or is there more graver news on the horizon that threatens them even more?

For those of you that do not know Scarlet North you might know her under Catherine Vale. She is truly an amazing author no matter what name she writes under. As far as Adriana Hunter this is the first book I have read of hers. I will have to make sure to check out more of her books. As I was reading this book I found a couple of text I loved. I loved when Penny was referred to as Lucky Penny. I also loved when the statement was made “It is you who rescued me.”
Penny who was just a good southern girl found herself in Las Vegas working in a casino. I guess at the time fate was smiling down on her. Here she was late and getting ready to be in some trouble to fall in the arms on one fine piece of man. Jonah Silver was nice on the eyes.
Jonah Sliver who was a professional poker player found himself taken by Penny Anderson. She was suppose to be a one night stand. See Jonah Silver was one that did not do relationship. He as a player. Never done one woman twice.
Things will get hot and heavy between Penny and Jonah. There are some serious feelings between the two. Just when things seemed to be smiling it can have a way to smack you in the face. It is fate’s way of helping you make some important decisions. The chose is yours if you make the right one.
Penny would not of dreamed of mother marrying Jonah Silver’s father. Penny must of felt her world was crumbling down. Penny feels she can not continue to pine for Jonah under the circumstances and Jonah knows that this will destroy his career if he stays with Penny. There are some important decisions to be made. Will Penny and Jonah make the right one.

Penny Anderson moved to Vegas to become bigger than her small town life. Penny is a cocktail waitress/burlesque dancer/former bartender. Penny meets Jonah Silver on her way to work, and her whole world changes. Jonah is a professional poker player, with a well-known reputation as a ladies' man. He is taken with Penny and requests she work at his table, while he is playing. Another thing about Jonah, he doesn't waste any time. He takes Penny back to his penthouse that same night and rocks her world, and his. Jonah is used to the love em and leave em life. He does not do serious or long-term relationships. But with Penny its different. Jonah eventually cuts his time with Penny short, then hits a big losing streak, not only that he actually misses Penny. This has never happened to Jonah before, he needs Penny back. Their reunion is interrupted by the news that Penny's mother and his father have gotten married. This makes Penny and Jonah step-siblings, and may hurt Jonah's reputation as a professional poker player. The loving was so intense and hot. I didn't see what the problem was. They are all adults, there wasn't any blood connection between them. Go for it.

Jonah arranges for Penny to serve table six, and takes her up to his penthouse suite after completing and winning the days round. While he is typically not a snuggler, he requests Penny stay the night and wait for him so they can have another night together.
Things get scorching hot when these two are together. Jonah tries to move on as he always does, but Penny has captured his heart in a way no one else has – but there is an additional events which makes it even less likely these two will make it together. Super sexy, enjoyable read.

I was given an ARC of 'Player' from Scarlet, in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this bad boy romance from Scarlet, the instant attraction between Jonah & Penny nearly blew up my ereader. Once I started reading I was riveted to the words on the pages, instantly getting a good idea just what type of people Jonah & Penny are. Poker player, ladies man, Jonah, shows a girl a great time in every city he plays in.. so when he catches Penny on her way into work in Vegas, the attraction is instant, but when she walks into the room where the Poker tournament is being played, it gives Jonah the chance to spend more time with her.
The steamy scenes, WOW... I had to fan myself. The conflict, twists, turns, obsticles, everything just comes together & drags you into the book, keeping you hostage until you finish. I especially loved how the lead characters grew once they meet, how they interracted. I can't wait to read what Scarlet has in store for us next.

Wow, what an amazing book. Chase is the kind of man you love to hate, but there is so much more to him. Penny is a sweet southern girl caught up in whirl wind romance she can't have. These two set the pages on fire and and win your heart with their story. I was gifted this book for an honest review and it's a must read

Penny is a cocktail waitress at a casino. Jonah is a famous poker player. These two are scorching hot! This is a terrific love story that is very erotic. Well written with a great plot. I definitely recommend it. I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet and very sexy story
Odd circumstances to be sure, although I'm not so sure people would be so critical with no blood ties to either..I certainly didn't. Loved the story.
