Timely Love
The Goode Witch Matchmaker, Book 1
By: Cate Lawley
Narrated by: Sonja Field
This was such a cute story about a witch that plays matchmaker. The witch has a very short part. The main story is the couple. It is a time travel story, which normally I hate, but this is done so well that I really loved it. It is a short book but well worth the time. Lovely.
The narrator was perfect for this story!

A fun matchmaker story! I liked both Beth and Edward, though Edward was more modern in his views (at least for his era) it wasn't unrealistically so. I would have like the story to have been a little more detailed and in depth, but it was still an enjoyable story.

Fun but short

I enjoyed this sweet novel. I would have liked a bit more character development however.
It ended too quickly for me.

OK, that was a really delightful short read. No angst, no misunderstandings, no sex, just a great little love story. Aaaand, it WASN’T written in the first person, like 99% of all witchy stories are. And they usually have a terrible narrator, too. This narrator was really good.

This was about witch Glenda Goode who brought two people together through time. First Beth went back to 1899 and met Edward, several times, and then Edward came forward to 2016 to be with Beth.
If you want to know if they stayed in her time or went back to his you’ll have to read the novella. I really wish this had been a full novel, it was that good.

HOWEVER, I won’t be listening to the next one in the series because Ghostly Love has 166 pages and the price has been raised to $7.49 and paying that much for 166 pages is never going to happen. Not when this one cost $1.99.

As to the narration: I’d never heard of Sonja Field before but she did a great job on the voices and the emotions. I would definitely listen to her again. She didn’t give Edward a deep voice but she gave him a really nice one.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Had better Witches books

Firstly the idea is good, the characters are not bad but I find them quite plain, not much details given explanations why this is happening. As well the girls take it very easy to have connections with a witch.....the concept is good but I can't warm up with the storyline, I believe there is something missing to have a better development with the characters, more excitement when Beth travels into the past in her dreams, that's all very charming but there is not much information when she appears in a Victorian time, no detailed information on the historical things. It's a pity I love to read about Victorian period. And not much romance is going on either. So this isn't for me. Sorry.

This is a new spin on time travel. I enjoyed the story. The way Edward took its surrounding was well explained. I can't wait to read Hillary and Brad's story. This is the second series of Ms. Lawley that I've read and I have no negative comment about her talent for storytelling and creation of amazing characters.

Cute, although it’s hard not to really hate the meddling Glenda, HEA or not.

Edwords and Elizabeth (eye roll) met in each other’s dreams… or each other’s realities… across time and space… linked only by a journal and some witchy math. They suspend their disbelief long enough to get to know each other and develop feelings… well, it’s almost insta-love… but, you know… over a hundred years or so.

Excellent! I wish I could do what Beth did in this story! Love through the ages and having to learn anew what happened each time until times collided! Enjoy as this is time travel with a twist plus lots of romance.

Cute

This a rather cute time travel romance, all precipitated by magic. It is a bit too brief and bare bones for my taste --it could have been much more filled in and detailed-- but I did enjoy it. Quite a bit I must admit since I caught myself smiling several times.

A short, sweet tale about two who meet, improbably, when they were born a century apart.

What do you do when the one man for you exists in a previous century? Never worry if the Goode Witch is invo!ved, her mathamagical doings will solve the problem.

This was a sweet short romance. The subjects of the story are well written and lovable. The story keeps you interested the way to the end.

Cute and original story. Has all the elements—a mathematical matchmaker witch, two main characters that live in different eras, and time travel. A sweet and enjoyable MUST read.

Such a cute little read. I would gladly have read hundreds of pages of Beth and Edward getting to know each other because their budding romance put a fun smile on my face.

Something a little more exciting to read. This book is something different then I would normally read. Love that it is a series of novels.

Giveaway win. This is a light read. Easy and enjoyable. I used it as a car read for when I was waiting for someone or something. It didn't take long to finish. The characters are well written, the story line is alright, but there are a few twists and turns that I found a bit overmuch for the size of the book but all in all it is a good read (No pun intended. I will recommend this book to others and plan to read the next in the series.
