TURBULENCE picks up right where Book One leaves off. As the battle in the park concludes, what will become of the injured members?
We learn how the infection started and where it all began. The effects appear to reach every corner of the planet. Can the group survive? Do they even want to?
Two weeks into the group's "Vacation" at the stadium and Feeders are no longer a worry... or are they?
Their new hosts aren't quite what they seem and as they come to find out, don't have the best of intentions for Mason and the others.
The group, once again will have to depend on their instincts as well as one another if they intend on avoiding the growing number of Feeders and humans wishing to do them harm.
Jeff Olah is the author and creator of the best-selling series The Dead Years, The Last Outbreak, and The Next World. He writes for all those readers who love good post-apocalyptic, supernatural horror, and dystopian/science fiction.
His thirst for detailed story lines and shocking plot twists has been fueled over the years by stories from Cormac McCarthy, Ray Bradbury, and Stephen King. He also has a difficult time tearing himself away from character driven dramas like The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and LOST.
Jeff is addicted to reading, writing, and lifting weights. He lives in Southern California with his wife, daughter, and ten-year-old Chihuahua.
What can I say about a zombie novel where the zombies are not the most preposterous element? The writing is stilted and devoid of suspense or any style. Above all, it's the complete lack of internal coherence that makes this book hard to read. The action scenes are simply preposterous and incoherent. One minute the bag guy (or gal) is held at gunpoint, the next she is running away with hostages. No explanation of how that happened. One of the characters keeps end entering the group for no reason at all other than to setup the next "flee the zombie horde" scene. A couple of guys with guns, manage to subdue and imprison an armed group several times their size and keep them prisoner. Then the bad gal makes a mess of the whole thing and we the readers have absolutely no idea as to her reasons. We know that some of the protagonists have existential issues, but those tend to come out at the least opportune and credible moments. Entire scenes are setup where I doubt the writer himself even knew why. I am honestly baffled this thing has any positive reviews at all. The zombies at least act as such, unlike the humans, that seem to act as total morons, giving the zombies a run for their money in the IQ department.
...plus these books get my emotions so wrapped up in the characters lives I bit my lip to hard in worry! Truly! My. Jeff Olah is one of the top notch zom-poc authors. Because of the wonderful advent of self publishing and e-books, we are lucky to have more incredibly talented writers in genres that didn't garner as much attention in the years prior.
In this the second installment of the Dead Years series, we find our newly forged post apocalyptic family trying to find a safe place to heal up, get a better plan, and collect themselves after all they've lost individually and as survivors in a now consistently hostile world. They choose to go up the hill to a new stadium which boosts quite a few safety pluses like independent power. Unfortunately, it's not the haven they hoped for. Will they make it? All of them? And in what condition will they be in to move on to the next stop?
The Dead Years is a series set in the same world as two other series written by the author. They can be read, each series to clarify, in any order. But within each series - it's best to stay at book one and continue from there. Enjoy, and I'm on to Book One: Blackmore. Thank you to Mr. Olah, these are wonderful, engaging novels. May those about to read... Enjoy!
I'm enjoying the "books". I'm used to much longer volumes and so far these comp!ete books are more like chapters! The story line itself hasn't proven to be anything out of the ordinary for the genre as of yet. It is only the second installment after all so it's only fair to keep reading and see what develops. One thing i don't expect to improve and that's all the spelling, grammar and punctuation errors! They're fairly abundant. If the author would like to hire me to go through and make corrections I'm available. Seriously though, the story deserves to be corrected and released in its new and improved condition.
Will the friends and family make it out the city? It's looking pretty good for a while but some bad decisions dealing with brothers result in one key member of the becoming injured in the group. They decide to look for a good place where they will be able to get supplies before leaving the city and spend some time to rest and heal their injuries for the night.
The group decides to head for, and arrives at, a local sporting goods store. Needless to say they won't get much rest with a parking lot full of feeders and a bored teenager in their group!!!
Interesting take on the coming Zombie wars. If you believe this stuff can come true, you must read these books in order to figure out what to do at which point in the catastrophe. If you don't believe it will happen, read it just for fun.
The action continues in this book and just like the first one, it left me wanting more. And the author definitely knows how to create a good cliffhanger. Can't wait to read the next one!
Omgosh! This series is a read all books straight through type series! Jeff Olah knows exactly how to keep you fixated on this tremendous adventure. The characters are so well rounded! I STRONGLY recommend reading this story!
