A Chase of Prey is book eleven in the series, A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest. As always, the intense craziness of our favorite characters continues.



In this book, many things are going on at the same time but the primary story line is the journey of Rose and Caleb. They are trying to beat the clock so to speak since they believe that Caleb still has the spell on him that only allows him to be away from his island for seven days. They are trying to get back to The Shade and Micah is with them whom I am really beginning to love by the way. To say that nothing seems to go right for these three is an understatement. They are kidnapped by Columbian drug runners, given to a circus as a freak side show, and pursued by black witches all along the way.



Caleb and Rose finally get the time together they need, though, to give their feelings for one another a chance to blossom. And blossom they do. I so want for these two to get their HEA. Caleb has had such a horrible life and Rose is perfect for him. They are perfect for each other and remind me so much of Sofia and Derek in the beginning.



“One thing became clear to me that night. Caleb Achilles was a broken man. More broken than I’d thought. But I didn’t care how long it might take him to find himself again. I didn’t care how many layers he had to peel back. I’d stay by his side and do everything I could to help him heal. Because I loved him.”

At the same time, important decisions are made on the island of The Shade. Vivienne and Xavier make some life changing decisions. Sofia and Derek are faced with an important decision regarding their children to keep them safe. And again, there is a danger lurking that could jeopardize their safety. And, what of Annora? Is she still a witch or is she now just a human?

Bella Forrest continues to keep us on the edge of our seats as this series progresses. I keep thinking, just let them be happy, at least for a little while. But danger and deceptions seems to be a part of life in The Shade. I will now have to wait for book twelve to come out, A Shade of Doubt, to see what happens next.

Wow...what a journey.

In this book Rose and Caleb try to find their way back to the shade but not only do they have sunlight, lack of funds and transport to deal with they also have Rhys on their trail and he's closing in fast.
While Rose and Caleb struggle with their journey life at the Shade goes on and while everyone is missing their princess decisions have to be made.
Things are changing and new enemies are closing in and as always it comes down to who can you trust, this is an exciting read and as always difficult to put down once you've started, Rose and Caleb's journey keeps you on the edge of your seat.
While this is a longer read at 326 pages it's a surprisingly quick read, the next book 'A Shade of Doubt' is due out 19th April, at least we no longer have the 3 or 4 month wait between books that we used to have which has got to be a good thing.

Man, this series just keeps getting better! With each new book that comes out I am always a little fearful that this’ll be the one where it loses its steam but every time I am left wanting the next installment! This latest book was no exception, in fact I think this particular installment was one of the strongest ones to date in the series. To me it really felt like old school Shade, back in the Derek/Sofia days. There’s been a lot of story threads going on in the last few books, some major and some minor but this book mainly focused on Caleb and Rose’s journey to try to get back to the Shade and all of the danger that it entailed. I liked that this was the main focus of the book, it allowed us time to see their relationship grow and I really loved seeing them together. Of course there was a twist or two thrown in at the end there with them, just to keep things interesting!

I also liked that this whole book took place within the “human realm”, it was interesting seeing these supernatural beings having to deal with real life dangers and threats. The situations they found themselves in were edgier and scarier than we’re used to, but I liked that she switched it up a bit here. I found it quite suspenseful and I couldn’t flip the page fast enough to find out what happened next! Of course there was the usual supernatural threats to contend with too, and the plot definitely thickened in that regard! I really can’t want to see what’s in store next with that storyline.

While this book really focused on Caleb and Rose, there were plenty of developments and updates on all of the secondary characters and we were introduced to several new characters that are sure to factor in largely as the series progresses. Big changes for Ben, Vivienne and Xavier and it seems changes could be coming for Aiden, Claudia and Yuri as well. Time will tell! All I know is that I’ll definitely be there to find out, I’ve already pre-ordered the next installment!

I really need to stop reading this series. The early books in the series were easy enjoyable reads but while they are still easy reading the enjoyment has gone.

I think there are just too many characters and as a result too many different plot lines. Rather than focusing on a smaller group of characters and giving a coherent story the books have become a series of actions and decisions. Chapters jump from character to character and are completely unconnected. As a result there is no depth to anything and no emotion.

It didn't seem like there was a lot going on in this book. We spend majority of the time with Rose and Caleb and they tried to get back to The Shade in time. I am hoping this book is leading up to something huge in book 12. I'm not disappointed but I kind of am! I will continue with the series I'm 11 books in, I can't give up now!

Bella delivers a fast paced brilliant story as usual. I cannot get enough of The Shade. I love how Caleb and Rose's relationship has developed in this one. This book was action packed and at every turn there was another shocker. No spoilers here. This is a must read and it leaves you wanting more. I'm sure well get alot more in book 12.

Wow! Another Homerun! Bella has knocked it out of the park again! A Chase of Prey is the eleventh release in Bella Forrest's amazing hit series, A Shade of Vampire and it is awesome! I was hooked from the very first book and now anxiously await each release. I simply can not get enough! This is a paranormal story that is so unlike any other that I have ever read. It is exciting, original, imaginative, very well developed, thrilling, riveting, action packed, mysterious, suspenseful, enchanting, addictive and oh so romantic. It is smart, intelligent, exceptionally well written and flows beautifully. The characters are fascinating, captivating, intriguing, engaging, endearing, downright sexy and just out of this world! Literally! I love it! I never tire of visiting my friends of 'The Shade'. It always feels like returning home. If you love paranormal romance, magic, fantasy, suspense and adventure, then you will surely enjoy A Shade of Vampire series. What a wonderful ride! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Great book!! Warning... Spoilers.. I can't stand Anorra. I hope her new found way doesn't ruin things for Rose. The Shade is so close!!! Argh the frustration!!! And Ben... is it going as planned? ? Where the hell were Ibrahim and Corrine looking for Rose? Cuz they did a horrible job with that task.. I can't wait for the next book... I need to know what happens!!!!

I struggled with the rating for this book. Well, actually, the series as a whole. There are so many books that I would not be able to tell you specifically what happened in what book. I am reading them all back to back so I am sure that doesn't make it easier either. There are 2 main reason why this book got a 3 star rating and not a 4. One, I would never want to reread these books again. It's very repetitive and honestly, the only reason I continue to read is because I have formed a bit of an attachment to the characters so I want to know where they all end up. The second reason, I don't think I would recommend them to someone else to read. I'm not sure how far I will make it in the series but I will definitely be stopping soon, so I could never recommend this as a whole. The first 9 books were good and I wish I would have stopped then but of course I just had to know what happened next.

Wow

Rose is on the run with Caleb while Rhys has Micah and is using him to track the couple down. They run into a lot of trouble trying to return to The Shade.

Back on the island, Ben and a few more humans are turned for their own safety; but Vivienne and Xavier take the cure and turn into humans.

When some of the black witches come to the island in hopes of turning her back into what she used to be, Rose and Caleb are attacked by witches who tell them lies to get Rose to go with them.

But the kicker is Annora, now a human, find a Caleb professing her undying love right in front of Rose.

She just gave her heart to him, what will become of them now? Will he choose Annora over her?

One of the things I enjoy about this series is the next book will pick up where the last book left off. This was key for me since its been about a year since I read a book from this series.Iit was like I never left.

While there are more characters as the series continues it doesn't get confusing. I am the worst when it comes to names, but that's not the case here Every one person and event is interconnected so the story flows so seamlessly.

For me this is a series that makes me feel so comfortable, enjoyable, and familiar. I'm looking forward to what will become of The shade and all of its characters I've come to love.

In this book Caleb is trying to forget about Rose an get Annora back to the girl he once fell in love with but when Rhys comes in in the middle of Annora trying to become a channeler Rhys comes in an Caleb leaves with Annora but once he smells Rose he lays Annora down an rescues Rose from whatever Rhys was about to do to her will the be able to out run the warlock or will he capture them both before they ever reach they ever reach the Shade. Find out in this adventure packed book that is impossible to put down from the beginning to the end

Caleb takes his old fiance Annora to the ancient to get back the women he lost to the past. When they are interrupted by another witch, Caleb is told to take his unconscious Annora back to their realm. On the way out caleb sees Rose bound and gaged so he makes a choice and leaves Annora on the floor passed out and escapes with Rose to bring her back to the shade unharmed. Can these two return to the shade??? Need to read. Great book. Now onto the next installment of this series.

This is my favourite so far! I could not put this book down, it was amazing from start to finish!! Bella Forrest has created a wonderful world that you can just get lost in. I love how it is written from different character's perspectives, it makes for a very interesting read.

This series of books are my all time favourites and I recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Plot not as good as other books

The plot of this book was not as interesting as the other books. The whole appeal of this series is its dive into the paranormal world. It was uninteresting (and disturbing) to read about human trafficking. Outside of that, I really enjoyed the ties into Kiev's story.

This one was AMAZING!!
There were a lot of thrilling moments, big story changes, and one scene in particular - maybe two - that I thought “Omg! This is so well done” and had to read it TWICE!! That’s good writing. (Semi-spoiler it’s the boat scene in deck with Caleb and Rose! Dang!!)

Each of these books are so fun to read. Yet they are all so different. This one is no exception! If you enjoy fantasy, this series is definitely for you! It seemed like this book didn’t advance the storyline as much as some of the others but that’s ok. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Absolutely the best book in the series so far! I thought I’d grow tired after they finished Derek and Sofia’s story, but Caleb and Rose’s stories are addictive, well developed, and has me excited for book 12!
