A meeting with the queen might have a totally different meaning at one of Englands haunted palacesshe may not be alive! This title for young readers recounts brushes with spirits in the gilded halls of Englands castles, including sightings of the famous Anne Boleyn!
I just can't get over how awesome these books are, this book holds a lot of actual facts about important people of are history. This story make the little kiddos what to ask questions about the famous people in this story and it's a great way to make them more interested in our history, with a little side of scary. I would highly recommend this story for all ages, they give you dates in which some of these ghost come out to play. So maybe you and your kid would like to take an adventure to see if your lucky to catch a glimpse.
I was very disappointed in this book. The focus was very narrow, just the Tudor period in English history. Only three ghosts were discussed, Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth I and Catherine Howard.
On the positive side many sightings were discussed. The illustrations and photos were great editions, they brought the text to life.
There was a glossary, additional resources and an index. It is useful as a research tool for young children.
I think a better title would have been Ghosts in English Castles. That would have been a more accurate representation of the book. The title it has makes you think you might get to explore castles in various parts of the world.
A very alluring cover but way too little text on the inside. Oddly enough, the only ghosts mentioned were queens - two wives of Henry VIII and one of their daughters.
