1- Music is more than just a song on a radio; it is a language that exists inside you, and one that you can tap into to alleviate emotional stressors that challenge your spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health.

2- By listening to specific musical pieces that contain positive emotions, you can create the emotional resonance that you desire, be it peace, gratitude, joy, or exuberance.

3- Emotion and intention are the secret ingredients in creating a powerful musical experience.

4- I felt completely in sync with the music that was flowing through me. It was almost as if the music was playing me. I felt a strong sense of beauty, peace, and love all around me and within me.

5- Each piece of music or each song that helps you transform negative emotions to positive ones takes you one step closer to knowing your heart on a deeper level and tapping into its limitless powers.

6- Music is beyond doubt a powerful vehicle that communicates and affects our hearts through our deepest trials and tribulations. Even when the brain is not functioning well, music can communicate to our hearts.

7- Music succeeded where verbal language failed.

8- Music can evoke the deepest emotions and help us process fear, grief, sadness, and resentment, even if these emotions are held on a subconscious level.

9- Part of the brain that “associates music and memories when we experience emotionally salient episodic memories that are triggered by familiar songs from our personal past.”

10- Music cuts through space and time, and transports us to the moment or emotional memory we wish to obtain.

11- Songs were a way to immortalize significant events, life lessons, and special moments.

12- Music for us was more than just an escape. In some instances, music acted as a coping mechanism for some very difficult situations that were going on in our families. Music was a way to feel and vent every emotion from anger to love without harming anyone.

Barry Goldstein gives an excellent introduction in the importance of music, sound for healing and self exploration. It is a good starter if you want to use music, your music which you like, sound to support you in your daily life. Barry gives some facts how music, sound can be a very effective tool. He also gives practical steps how to implrment music and sound. It has inspired me to add more consciously and organized music for my well being. I already have done that, so much what he said was familiar. But it was a good introduction and motivator.

I didn't really enjoy this book till chapter 7 Balancing Your Energy Chakras. As an energy healer, I am always looking for new ways to add to my practice. Incorporating peaceful and relaxing music is an important component of any healing session. Goldstein makes specific song recommendations for healing, many of these songs I have added to my Reiki playlist. In addition, it's a good reminder to us how to incorporate music every day to uplift and relax us during the day.

I found the premise interesting but for me the book failed to deliver. Danced around a bit, but never took a spade to the rich, lush loam that lay beneath.

I suppose I probably shouldn't have even picked up this book. Although it may be helpful for completely healthy individuals to get a little more out of a musical listening experience, it is a complete mockery of music as therapy. He even goes far enough as to "prescribe" music for specific diseases/disabilities, as if music is a "universal" language to everyone going through a similar disability or trauma.
