I don’t know how but I picked this up and then didn’t blink for 3 hours. This one is basically established Dramione working through some issues, short and angsty! Loved it.

post-war / marriage life / romance / angst / hurt&comfort / smut / eventual HEA

For fans of "Marriage Story", this is a great story about a tumultuous love story between two people who, at first glance, don't seem to fit together. This is, typical of Everythursday, not a classic Dramione story with common tropes. It is told fragmentarily and leaves many questions unanswered.

About the story
A Fruitless Year is a story in three acts, telling three narrative layers at once. The beginnings of their relationship, the present in which the relationship is on the verge of collapse, and the therapy they do together to save their marriage.

It is a story about communication, trust, compromise and above all about the fear of rejection.

My thoughts
As someone who has gone through the exact same struggles in real life, I could empathize incredibly well with both Draco and Hermione. This story hurts, it addresses things that are hard to bear. Yet, despite the pain, it seems to turn out well in the end.

Everythursday, as so often, writes Hermione and Draco in a way that you don't usually read in fanfiction. At first, neither character makes a 180 degree turn, remaining very true to themselves and their principles, something that will cause them problems later in their marriage. But the way they get over the rifts is just beautiful and authentic.

For people who have been through the same thing, this story feels incredibly cathartic. It hurt me a lot, but afterwards I felt very relieved. The way Everythursday tells Draco and Hermione's love story is epic and heartwarming. I just love it.

A Fruitless Year is a must read! Once I found out this story was about a Hermione and Draco as a married couple I couldn’t wait to read it! The only way I could describe this is story was...intense. Beautiful, heartbreaking, sexy, hilarious, etc. It was incredibly well written and described issues that some couples actually go through. Sage has a wonderful gift of truly understanding both Draco and Hermione and NOBODY can tell me otherwise. She writes them so realistic. I really admire how she captures them perfectly especially Draco because he’s so rough around the edges. This is goes for every story she’s written I’ve read so far.

I always love everythursday's portrayals of Draco and Hermione. A lot of fics get to a "well they're married its a HEA!" but this one deals with the very realistic problems they'd have even after being married and working through them. This one made me tear up honestly, the emotion was so raw in it.

3.5 stars - this story is a gift. Sage has done it again! Draco and Hermione are in their late 20’s and married, attending therapy, their marriage on the brink of collapse. It’s a quick read but beautiful.

A shorter Dramione, but the writing was fantastic. A lovely look into a troubled marriage and the heart-wrenching work to build it back up again.

Marriage. I don’t know so much about that but it’s a very logical plot and an emotional read.
