this is book 5 of the Bear Fursuits series by the author.
Bear shifter Major Zeke Bascom of the Army Rangers, is back home, but he has nightmares and a very bad case of PTSD. The military is all he knows and now he has lost that because of his failed last mission.. He feels like a broken man, he won't even shift into his bear afraid the man won't want to come back. And then he wakes up in heaven!
Jennifer Bascom has given up on finding a mate she'll die a virgin bear, all the bears she knows are kin and even this hunky frozen piece of man that just dropped into her cabin might be kin, but who cares he is not quite a sight for sore eyes, but her bear sure feels frisky around him. She wants to play with him and make that permanent frown on his face go away, after all he is her mate.
Bear Skin by Isadora Montrose is a beautifully written story of a wounded warrior Zeke and the healing he gets for his body, mind and soul from his fated mate, the remarkably generous PA Jenna. Each has spent his and her life serving others. Now is their time to see to their own needs with the one and only love of their lives. It is a heartwarming story of love, passion and healing. Guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes and a smile to you face. Highly recommended.
Healing the wounded warrior This author did such a fantastic job of taking us on the journey to help a soldier move forward in his healing. He would have never succeeded without meeting his mate. I’m pretty sure fate, and the author, knew exactly what he needed to survive and thrive. This book is a new take on a tough subject and you won’t want to miss it. I’m looking forward to the next book by this author.
Bear Skin was published in 2016 and was removed when the author put it in a boxed set, Summer Shifter Days. I have not previously reviewed Bear Skin separately. So, I received this free book and voluntarily chose to review it. Zeke is saved by a female bear. He has issues that cause problems. I can understand these issues. I loved the book except for the steamy parts.
I enjoyed reading this book 📚, it has a good storyline 👍. Jenna and Zeke's story is classic, war veteran and a nurse healing each other. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
bearskin by isadora montrose; a bear veteran suffering from ptsd and a bear midwife. jennas fated mate turns up at her cabin door half frozen and not realizing that she is his fate mated. pretty good plot and character development. i am voluntarily reviewing an arc of this book gifted to me the author withno obligation.
Zeke comes to Jenna in need. He is hurting mentally and physically. She is a nurse practitioner and finds it easy to heal the bear shifter's injuries from being outside. His internal pain is much more difficult to treat.
Jenna has kind of given up hope of finding her mate. She loves the woods and doesn't want to have to go to the city to find someone. All the bear shifters around her are related and are like brothers to her. When Zeke arrives, she has a chance at the family she always wanted but he is not an easy person to interact with.
Zeke is hurting from the loss of friends during a mission and being removed from the military which is where he has spent half his life. His family is a mess too. He really responds to Jenna but isn't sure that he is in shape for a relationship.
I like how Jenna stands up to Zeke and doesn't let him overpower her. She is a strong and confident bear shifter. She has a real playful side too. Zeke is more the strong, silent type. He has his issues but he is very devoted to those he loves.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review,
I loved this book, I have read one other in this series yet they are written to be standalone books,
Jenna is an old maid bear (at least she thinks so) and a nurse practitioner she takes care of all the residents of Yakima Ridge, Zeke is a Ranger who has been discharged for medical reasons, yet he feels like he should just put a bullet in his head (dealing with PTSD or survivors guilt) I really liked how Jen helps him deal, the story has some very deep messages in it for me and I really feel that Isadora Montrose is an amazing author, I cannot wait to read more of her stories,
5.0 out of 5 stars Bear Skin by Isadora Montrose, March 16, 2016
This review is from: Bear Skin (BBW/Bearshifter Romance): A Billionaire Oil Bearons Romance (Bear Fursuits Book 6) (Kindle Edition) Beautifully written love story that is full of the struggle of losing family values. It just reinforces that love and passion can go hand in hand with old fashion ways! Because Jenna and Army Ranger Zeke have found this side of heaven in a little cabin in the woods in the middle of a blizzard and power outage. Loved this story. I received this in exchange for an honest review.
Read in the SUMMER SHIFTER DAYS box set. Liked the story plotline and the characters but the delivery just seemed off. Lack of depth and I felt only a minor connection between Jenna and Zeke. Felt like there was no real resolution about their future and the HEA is lacking in warmth. Zeke doesn’t even realise he took Jenna’s virginity in his illness and then gets jealous thinking of her with other men. Also there was no clarity over what had happened to Zeke and his men in the rangers. This is a pivotal part of why he is behaving as he is but we never find out.
Sooooo, good storyline. Hot and sexy Bear shifter with PTSD. Sexy curvy female Bear shifter who is a nurse. All the high marks of a good book right.
Well it really needed better editing. Sometimes I had to reread a sentence over and over to get it.
Lastly, in the middle of a good sex scene the author used terms like “his tallywacker”. Don’t know if this terminology was for comedic effect, though if she did I certainly laughed.
I did enjoy the book. Don’t get me wrong. If a book holds me till the end it’s pretty good.
This story flowed seamlessly from one setting to the next. The character of Zeke was damaged, angry and sad. Jenna was all set to become a virginal spinster aunt. Zeke fell into her life and they kind of fixed each other. The author addressed PTSD in an open and holistic manner and gave me a lot to think about. The romance was hot, the story pace was steady, and the characters were both likeable and believable.
This is a lovely romance that shows love can overcome many obstacles....if you're open to it. Zenna, a werebear midwife, and Zeke, a PTSD soldier, meet under unusual circumstances but slowly oh so slowly Zenna is able to draw out the soldier's good side. A great read and a good showing of how PTSD can be.
Caught in a storm Zeke finds his way to Jenna's cabin by the skin of his teeth. Jenna knows what he is immediately but Zeke wasn't raised bear, so he's confused. Three days in a blizzard teach Zeke not to let Jenna go. Dealing with his PTSD isn't easy but Jenna never let things get her down.
Jenna had pretty much decided she was going to end up single and living in the ridge forever. Until a man stumbled into her cabin during a blizzard. Zeke just needed to get away who would have thought first a mud slide would strand him then take his truck. Then turn into a blizzard. The only good thing was he found his mate. Enjoyed the book. Great series
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review. This is a charming and sweet story. You can't help but fall in love with Zeke and Jenna. It's so funny how Zeke's stern bear reacts to Jenna's playful, mischievous bear. You can feel the chemistry these two have. Absolutely recommend this book.
I have many books but this set of paranormal stories are five stars. Read and get involved with the cousins and theirs endeavors to find mates. This one about Jenna and Zeke touches the heart. Good read
This is a wonderful story about a former soldier who get lost woods and finds a cabin with a nurse to care for him. I thought the story was well written and thoroughly entertaining. I really enjoyed reading it. I just cannot wait until the next story in the series comes out.
This particular story deals with some of the issues our military warriors, at least those who return to us, have to deal with daily. PTSD being one of the most common and tougher to diagnose and treat. Coming from a military family, it really pulled at my heart!
I would consider this more a novella - decent premise, seemingly rushed character development. Wanted a longer story that gave the characters more depth. Light easy read.
Zeke has been medically discharged from the rangers he feels lost and the arguments at the will his great grandfather left he has had enough. He decides to get away go camping clear his head and look for relatives in Washington state the mountains up their however the weather is bad and he ends up with his camping gear flooded his truck caught and lost in a landslide and the rangers station is derelict but sees a light. Jenna is a community nurse who has her cabin up in the hills Yakima ridge she ends up being snowed in and Zeke ends up on her door step frozen and nearly at deaths door. Jenna looks after Zeke making sure he recovers from hypothermia as they get to know each even with Zeke being moody Jenna helps him with his PTSD and there is chemistry between them which leads to a lot of sex and working out their feelings for each other. This is a lovely story of Zeke and Jenna and how help comes in different ways.
This talented author approached the PTSD issues and survivors guilt very delicately while writing a marvelous, heartwarming bear shifter romance. There is: a lonely nurse practitioner & midwife female bear shifter (Jenna), a emotional damaged male bear shifter (Major Zeke Bascom), intrigue, family issues, manipulations, memories, PTSD, mental trauma, depression, longings, adverse weather conditions, fantasies, intimacy, confusion, mates, brusque manners, rudeness, disagreements, playfulness, bemusement, realization, fated mates, dreams, shameful truth, grief, hope, bonding, verbal banter, happiness and some steamy scenes. The characters are quite interesting and their personalities continue to develop throughout the story. The plot is intriguing, well-thought out and written; it certainly kept my attention until the end.
