R. M. Willis‘ mother first introduced him to the speculative fiction world when he was still a small child. His understanding of the world around him grew through the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, Piers Anthony, and Robert Silverberg. At a very young age he knew he wanted to write. His first story was published by his second grade teacher, when he was 7; A rousing tale about how the Easter Bunny stole his carrot. His first book “Power Rises” was re-published by KnightLand Books in December 2015. He currently resides in Colorado with his wife and two children, where he is working on the second book in his "Ways of Power" series.
I won this book in the giveaways and I'm glad that I did. I don't think I would have picked it up on my own but its really a good read. It's very short so that is a plus because you can read it in one or two goes. I actually went to a Paralegal school that was closely aligned with a criminal justice course so some of the ideas that stem from criminal justice were pretty evident to me but for the other main part of the book there is a quick introduction from someone that fills in the gaps. Like I said, I probably wouldn't have picked it up myself but I'm very glad I read it!
diamond in the rough i like the authors writing style which is simple yet elegant with no room for melodrama or complicated jibber jabber about science. a great scifi book especially since it was his first .the plot is fairly simple and the author conveys what he wants to tell beautifully. its a short book completed it in under three hours and more than worth the time spent . storyline is that humans colonized mars , moon and the lead character is a reckon writer .she deals with reckoning ,correctional preocedure for inmates . donot expect any big plot twists or romance . its a simple book and we can peacefully glide through the contents of the book in the same time we watch a movie. i highly recommend this book i got this ebook in exchange for a review but never expected it to be such a good book i am obligated to give an honest review in the site i got the book but i am also reviewing this here because its such a good book .
A quick easy read. I think R.M. Willis is becoming one of my favorite authors. Reckoning was vivid and intense. I couldn't put it down. My only complaint... I want more!
Nice concept. R.M Willis does a good job of making you care about the characters. I especially like the concept of the Reckoning. It's like A Clockwork Orange only on a deeper level.
Midway through Power Rises I was suddenly struck with the idea for Reckoning. I actually had to stop writing the first book so that I could complete this one. Originally it was just a 5,000 word short story, but after several revisions and listening to feedback from editors and beta readers I expanded it to a novelette. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I started reading this book as it was deemed to be a modern "clockwork orange". However it does not measure up by far. The book is short, the story is easy to predict and lacks logic. Having said the negatives, it is still a good science fiction book. I enjoyed it overall but there are much better books out there i think.
