Janelle Ruiz works as a nurse in Bacolod City. She likes the rain, jazz, and freshly brewed coffee. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading inspirational, suspense, and psychological thriller books. She dreams of becoming a forensic psychologist, but as of now, being one of the most amazing criminal profilers in her dreamland is enough. Apart from dreaming, reading and watching too much suspense/thriller television series and a lot of documentaries, she is also known to most of her personal friends and family as a painter.

This series hasn’t failed me yet, so you bet your xxx I’m going to read the next one immediately!

But seriously, it was so, so good! I enjoyed Adrien and Mary’s story. Apart from the amazing characterization and hot romance, there’s a great suspense subplot that had my eyes glued to the pages. I devoured this book, and I almost wished I had slowed down a little, though I really can’t because I’m really excited to read the next one.

I think the author has done an outstanding job of creating a unique, powerful story that will stay with me for a very long time, and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Loved this so much that I am excited to read Belinda's story. But might read it after my finals or in my acad break.😅

Anw, ever since I've finished TLWL, I've been wanting to read Mary's story. There's something about her character that I like and it is she never show interest to the Herald (with Cressida ofc). That they never cared about what people may think about them.

I loved Mary's character. She's strong yet so fragile. She always chose the right and best for the people she's handling, the family, including the Town. She's always shown that she wants to protect her husband and still cries whenever he's hurt. And love her relationship with Cressida, plus with her cousin, Collin.

I also loved Adrien's character. He's transparent and to Mary's description, black and white. As much as he want to hurt his loved ones, Mary and his mother, he never did even though they did something wrong to him. He loves them very much to the extent he will do anything for them. And he's funny lol. And I love how he calls Mary 'love'🤭😜. Kiligssss!

I loved the book. It was not only focused on romance but ate JD put a subplot that you will think who is really who. You wouldn't want to take down the book as you want to unravel the truth. And never expected that this book or this couple is the most innocent couple/story.😜 I thought it would be Calan and Cressida haha!

I felt that it was more of a Drama type book where you get the full package..So,wasting no more time I will give some pointers on this one why recommend it.My review is manly based one the main leads & kept it as vague as possible for those who wish to read it & why I personally love the characters.Didn't reveal any of the mysteries or secrets which will spoil your reading. But yeah it contains some things from the story..

1.Actually, I quite liked Mary & Adrien's 1st encounter..It was a perfect a balance funny & a tit bit steamy weird encounter..Some say that Adrien forced himself on her..But Mary was also living the moment & finally when she pushed him for good, he did left her..In my opinion, they both were consumed in the heat of the moment..& The events that followed afterwards, were indeed hilarious🤣🤣

2.There are two things I liked about Adrien's character..1st he showed his emotions on his face, never kept them locked or harboured it until it grew toxic.Like Mary said, he was either black or white. He showed her his hatred, love, feeling of getting betrayed by her(which wasn't the actual case) equally..

2nd,Despite being a rake,he actually never betrayed his wife..Yes, he was looking for mistress at 1st (& one already left him before 🤣🤣),but it was out of anger & still he wanted her..And no matter how betrayed he felt, never once he went back to his rakish way just to hurt her..He might said a lot of things that were bad, but we have to understand where he is coming from…

3.At the end, they gave each other time to heal which I really liked. There were a lot of things happening from the start of their marriage to the events that followed after..That 3 month time helped them to sort out every conflicting emotions..

I very much enjoyed the plot, the mysteris & how it was carried out throughout end...If you want to get a more clear picture of their mother, you ought to read "The Lady Who left".It a helped me more to understand Adrien's feeling of that night..

THIS BOOK IS NOW ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME!

I kid you not. This literally made cry, laugh, angry, scared, and kilig in just one or two chapters.

Both characters are IMMACULATELY CREATED. I love Mary and Adrien so much!!

The plot is impeccable. So, so, so impressive, for me, and I'm not easily i impressed by plots or its arcs. However, this book smashed different typical-run-down-tropes and made a refreshing arc.

All I can say is this book/series needs more exposure outside Wattpad because it's a hidden diamond for sure.

The first book that I finished for this year, and it's a five star rating! So, yeah 😅

I sooooo~ love the progress of the two leads. From their encounter in the library till the end. It was soooo~ well done. The character development was fantastic. Tho tbh, I'm not so sure at the library scene in the first part, if they realy just clicked or they were just..u kno~ 🤷‍♀️ anyway, everything in this book was very well done! 😊

Absolutely stunning! I greatly enjoyed reading this book.

I loved the characters very much and I really loved as to how they were interwoven within the plot and the story. I can also see some inspiration from Bridgerton.

The mafia aspect of this book made this book so interesting as well. Although there are some plot lines that felt rushed it was not really noticeable for me to not enjoy the book.

Kudos!

A most intriguing concept, The Town: Haverston Family Series historical fiction with its modern twist. To say that the Town is modern would be wrong, as it lives in the past, residing below the present day world, the only connection between the two worlds being the holes that are guarded by the Town Guards.

I think Greenwriter has a unique style of writing her historic fiction and I must say I've enjoyed and admire each and every one of her books in the Haverston series. I chose to review this book especially, beacuse I liked it the best among the three. The dashing, bold rake Adrian Haverston and the calm, beautiful, mysterious and reserved Mary Angel Featherton clash like hot and cold , yet blend in like cookies and cream to form one of the most passionate romance. In addition to this scorching romance, Greenwriter even manages to include a fast-paced, nail-biting plot.

The first and third book in this series, The Town:The Lady who Left and The Town:The Lady Who Sinned are both equally roamantic and suspenseful. I'm looking forward to the completion of the Everard series as well which promises a crazy, hilarious roller-coaster ride with the Everard siblings.

Honestly, this story is better than a lot of mainstream novels that I have read. This one is so good. I can still remember myself trying hard controlling my emotion while reading it in the bus. There are times that I need to stop for a minute and take a breath in order to calm myself. That's how good it is, that's how affected I am with the story.

I thought "The Lady Who Left" will be my all time favorite story of Greenwriter but "The Lady Who Stayed" happened to me. The feels is just too much to handle.

4.5 stars.
