A very simple, easy to understand book about depression. It doesn't judge or pretend that reading it will miraculously cure your depression. But if you think you might be suffering with depression, or you have been diagnosed but want to know a little more, or even if you are a family member or friend trying to understand then it is well worth a read.
The chapters are short and you can easily dip in and out, so you don't have to read it from cover to cover. I ignored the chapters that were not suitable, i.e. depression in older people and those with physical illness. I found the chapter on anti-depressant medication and the useful websites/sources informative and practical. The way it describes depression is good too and the entire book either avoids technical jargon or explains it.
Its well worth the asking price and I already have a few friends that have asked to borrow it afterwards as they attempt to help and support me.
It does give a few helpful tips as well, such as "how to get a good night's sleep" and "relaxation exercise".
Thanks to McKenzie for writing this good little book.
