"Powerfully heartfelt and knock-your-socks-off hilarious. I'm a fan!" - Janet Evanovich
Super Spy Davis Way sets sail on a Caribbean cruise aboard the MS Probability with fifty billionaires, a boatload of Louis Vuitton luggage, Anderson Cooper, and her mother. (Her mother?) The weather is perfect, the seas are calm, and Suite 704 is spectacular. Until the door slams shut. For good.
Obviously, it’s a system glitch. Surely someone will show up to free Davis, Miss Hawaii, and the creepy staff. But when the minutes turn to hours and the hours stretch into a day, Davis knows it’s up to her. With $50,000 in casino chips, a pot roast, and a crash course in banking, she races against the clock to determine why they’re being held, stop the people behind it, and find a way out.
Secrets are revealed, antiquities are destroyed, and they’re running out of dishes. It’s mayday on Probability when Davis Way realizes that only the truth will set her free.
Books in the Davis Way Crime Caper Mystery Series: DOUBLE WHAMMY (#1) DOUBLE DIP (#2) DOUBLE STRIKE (#3) DOUBLE MINT (#4) DOUBLE KNOT (#5)
Part of the Henery Press Mystery Series Collection, if you like one, you'll probably like them all...
Fans of Davis Way will be delighted with her latest casino caper. The casino's moved from land to sea and Davis has two jobs as the casino's security spy: watch over the debut cruise of the MS Probability and (once again) serve as casino queen Bianca Sanders's (pregnant) body double. She's got a beautiful suite, a gorgeous wardrobe, a fully stocked kitchen and bar, and two attendants to wait on her. She also has her coworker Fantasia, her cat (Anderson Cooper), (twins on the way), and (unfortunately) her mother staying in the suite. When the onboard computer locks them in the suite, they figure it for a system glitch. Until they learn her boss is in trouble and the casino's about to be robbed.
Double Knot is a backwards locked room mystery combined with a backwards heist. Can Davis escape? Will she save her boss? Will she deliver early? Will she kill her mother?
A fun romp with very personal revelations that give readers a glimpse into Davis's story, pre-Double Whammy (book 1). There were times when I teared up, although I mostly laughed out loud. A bittersweet story wrapped in a very big crime.
Gretchen Archer could read a direct marketing call list to me and I think it would be funny as hell. In the latest Davis Way Crime Caper she's at her absolute best--not only sharp, snarky, and hilarious, but this time we get to see more depth to Davis--love seeing her grow in this surprise-twist plot. A fast-paced, original mystery on board a glamorous ship--Ten Little Indians at sea.
Fans of Davis Way will be delighted and worried about her latest adventure. Both Davis and Bianc are pregnant, Davis with twins. They have set sail on the Casino's newest endeavour, a gambling ship called the MS Probability. This is not really a vacation as Davis has two jobs; the casino's security spy watching over the operations of the debut cruise and to once again serve as casino queen Bianca Sanders's body double. In the beautiful suite, she has Fantasy, her mother, a butler and suite attendant all in tow. They have even snuck her cat, Anderson Cooper on board. This one of the ship's PR people in the suite, there is a glitch and they get locked in. When they realize it is not just a glitch, but that their is a high-tech heist taking place. Can Davis escape? Will she save her boss? Will she deliver early? Will she kill her mother?
With this being the fifth book in the series, I am beginning to wonder if being in or working for a casino is safe. This is a fun story where we find out some very personal information about Davis' past. We also get to see her interactions with her mama, that was a hoot. This story had some bittersweet spots, but most of it was fun. Once again, Davis finds a way to save the day. I am looking forward to her next adventure in Double Jinx.
Davis Way is back!! And I, for one, have missed her. She is undoubtedly one of my favorite characters. Her antics are hilarious and she is always finding herself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I do have to say that this one was my least favorite though. I guess since Davis is carrying twins, it's kind of hard of her to get into too many precarious situations, so I can let that slide. That being said, it was still pretty funny just not as outrageously as funny as the others.
However, that doesn't spoil it for me and my pal Davis Way. I'm on her band wagon forever. I've never seen a girl get into so much trouble. I just love her!!! Again, Stephanie who?
Huge thanks to Henery Press and Net Galley for the opportunity to spend the day with Davis in exchange for a review. Life couldn't get any better! Ha!
Cute. Davis Way is the Southern answer to Stephanie Plum :)
What could go wrong? A week spent on a boat (err, ship), Davis's mom with the gang and Bianaca's typical hijinxs being left behind while Davis spends the time keeping the ship running smoothly- it'll be a fun time. Right?
You don’t want to miss Double Knot, what a fun read! This is the second Davis Way Crime Caper that I’ve read, but the fifth in the series. It was so much fun to be back with Davis and company.
In this outing, a pregnant Davis finds herself aboard a luxury boat (ship! it’s a ship!) to spend a week with fifty billionaire gamblers while posing as her (pregnant) boss, Bianca Sanders. Davis has invited her mother along for the week, as her father insists it’s just what her mother needs. Things are looking good until the ship is about to set sail and they get locked into their (gigantic) suite. Turns out there’s a lot more than meets the eye on this cruise. (Like where does Anderson Cooper keep sneaking off to?)
I don’t want to say too much and spoil the fun of this book. I really love Gretchen Archer’s writing style, the humor seems to come effortlessly. With Davis narrating, her sarcasm shines through, and the banter Davis has with other characters is perfect. Bringing Davis’ mother into the story was wonderful, adding a whole new dynamic to the crew. There are laugh-out-loud moments, but there were also a few mother-daughter bits that brought a tear to my eye.
Double Knot is the perfect spring (or summer!) cozy mystery/crime caper.
Davis & Bianca are in their final trimester of pregnancy & Davis is forced to go on a Caribbean cruise on a new ship with a bunch of billionaires to double Bianca. State of the art security has Davis, Fantasy, No Hair, & a few other guests trapped on board the ship. Davis & Fantasy have to sort out why they are locked in their room with no outside help, why there are dead bodies, how is Davis' cat finding casino chips, & dealing with Davis's mother along for the cruise. Secrets from the past are revealed and current problems are dealt with. Wasn't into this book as much as the previous in series but I will keep going with the series
While yet another “Beach Read” in Indianapolis (no beach) these books seriously make me laugh out loud. The characters get themselves into impossible situations... and havoc ensues.
[ I received this book free from the publisher through NetGalley. I thank them for their generousity. In exchange, I was simply asked to write an honest review, and post it. "What do you do when someone has a gun on you? Whatever they say."
Davis Way Cole, six months pregnant with twins, is on her last assignment prior to maternity leave: to again "be" Bianca Sanders' double prior to Bianca's own maternity leave. Davis has been Bianca's double for years, much to her chagrin. She might get to play one of the world's richest women, but gets little in return.
Davis and fifty other gazillionaires are on a floating casino's maiden voyage. But in a "series of unfortunate events", pandemonium breaks lose and she and her crew are electronically locked out(in?) watching the whole thing play out. And did anybody notice she's pregnant?
In an improbable, laugh out loud/ cry your eyes out storyline, you might think Archer was channeling Lucy and Ethel coupled with the Three Stooges and Groucho Marx. This is a way out there tale that will have you amused, confused and anything but snoozing. After all, that is the Davis Way!

I was lucky enough to read Double Knot before it even had a cover. Davis in-a-family Way is back with the usual cast of zany characters. Like all of Archer's books, Double Knot is laugh-out-loud funny. It also has a heart--a big, squishy, about-to-have-a-baby heart. Archer fans will not be disappointed! New readers will be thrilled to find a caper series guaranteed to bring a smile to their faces.
WHAT AN EXCITING, ENDEARING AND ENJOYABLE BOOK!!!!!!
This story was absolutely riveting!!! Like I already said.... It was very exciting, endearing, and so, so, so, enjoyable! The mystery and suspense of it kept me turning those Kindle pages fast! What a fascinating concept this story had.... I have so enjoyed getting to know all the ins and outs of so many different things through reading this series. Gretchen explains the intricacies of the casino operations, the dark web, banking, etc., So succinctly without getting so technically bogged down that you zone out! This book was a little different than the others in the series with many, many, heartfelt moments that tugged at my heart... And there were Lots of life lessons in this book also all beautifully expressed and written!!!! BUT.... The delicious wacky laugh out loud moments were there too... I don't want to give anything away but I had many favorite scenes in the book that I know I will be laughing about for a couple of days!!!! Gretchen's books are so interesting... She somehow manages to make me laugh uproariously and have a smile on my face as I am reading throughout the whole book.... While at the same time having many, many, "Aahhh moments" too.... Her way of perfectly balancing the readers' experiences is truly amazing!! I would give this book 10 brilliant stars if I could... I love and enjoy going on these adventures with these characters in these books so much!!!!!! Highly recommend.... Give yourself a treat!!!
Davis is pregnant with twins and posing as Bianca on a one-week cruise on a luxury gambling ship and ends up locked in her luxury suite with Fantasy, her cat and her mom.
What I enjoyed: * Davis and gang are always good for a laugh, although there is a lot more heavy things brought up * Interesting locked room mystery since our heroes are locked in their suite for the majority of the book * Bianca's speeches were great as always
If you love to laugh, love to think, love an intelligent author and main character, love a heart warming though fast-moving story, love well developed characters & don't mind a bit of mildly slang language, you must read this series. (especially if you were raised in, or know someone from the South!) I adored Double Knot, just like all the rest of Gretchen Archer's books. I cannot wait to read the next one! They're SO worth the money!!!!
The series is great, BUT I pay for the Kindle unlimited so why tdo Authors let you read 1/2 of the series for free and then make the rest a fee??? Very frustrating- so either I pay to read the rest or just move on. Well I will be MOVING ON. Maybe I would have read a stand-alone and paid for it; but to switch in the middle of the series from free to cost is bad marketing. Shame on the author or whomever manages her.
I won this book on a goodreads giveaway for my honest opinion. Double Knot had an interesting plot. The character's are a little off the wall. Davis is a body double for a singer that ends up locked in suite on a luxury boat. The plot is well thought out and will leave you turning the pages wanting to find out how they get out of the mess they are in.
As always, a fun read. Davis gets locked in a luxurious stateroom on a yacht with Fantasy, and Davis's mom and various staff. Not to be let out for 7 days while something goes on. No Hair is imprisoned elsewhere on the yacht. Her husband is on his way to China, they have no way to reach anyone... did I mention she is pregnant with twins?
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, binge reading 5 in a row. I've never done that in my life! Funny, touching, sincere, a tad over the top but not enough to make me stop reading. Gretchen Archer has a great turn of phrase and deep understanding of relationships.
A winner for sure. I'm not usually a mystery reader, but this cosy series gets top marks from me.
I was captured right away by these intriguing characters. The setting is fun for we who cannot imagine the life of the very wealthy. And to have our main character so very pregnant gave it new twist. No super spy antics from her in this one. LOL. The ending was excellent. Action coming at you from all sides! A book to remember.
The perfect blend of mystery, humor, danger, camaraderie, and adventure. The roller coaster ride never seems to end but it's time well enough that you don't get tired of it. It's a spider's web of pieces that all connect though at times you're just not sure how it's going to happen. I love this series, one of the best out there.
This is the first book I've read by this author. I am strangely hooked! It's not the most well written, sometimes I was confused at what was happening, but yet the subtle humor had me laughing out loud, I truly liked the rabble of characters, the storyline was unique and it was clean - all great assets in a good book. I think I'm going to check out some of her other books!
This cozy mystery is so entertaining! The characters are unique, varied, and interesting. The story is full of mystery and action with some real heart and depth and humor. I also love the interesting details the author writes in her books about various things like about the internet and banking etc. I really love this book.
I'm amazed at how each subsequent book in this series is as interesting and downright hilarious as the previous one! Double Knot has its best funny moments, more on Davis and less of Bradley (sad) and Bianca..worth the read!
I enjoyed this, overall, but I thought the disposal of the dishes and the Louis Vuitton luggage, was asinine. Perhaps this was the author’s way of showing disdain for the ridiculously over priced baggage, but it struck me as absurd. The wrap up at the end was also very weak.
Davis Way books are anything but dull. They are funny and exciting. So much is going on at one time! I can't help but think that Ms. Archer must have had as much fun writing these books as I've had reading them.
I think this might be my favorite of the series. There is solid character development and human frailty that struck me. I am going to keep binging the rest of the series. I am hoping they keep getting stronger in the story lines.
